The University of Queensland was established by an Act of State Parliament on 10 December 1909 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Queensland's separation from the colony of New South Wales. The purchase of the land for the magnificent St Lucia campus was made possible by a substantial donation by two of the University's earliest and most significant benefactors, Dr James O'Neil Mayne and his sister Mary Emelia Mayne. 2711 Courses Available at The University of Queensland in Australia. The University of Queensland has a severely abusive and toxic work culture; especially for casual acadamics who make up the majority of the workforce at universities. HR management in the School of Psychology is perfectly fine with gaslighting, and using intimidation methods to bully casual acadamics. Edit due to receiving a response: I had already exhausted all avenues to have the abuse I experienced addressed by your organization. In the face of clear evidence, and logical arguments about the School of Psychological failure to adhere to the Universities' own policies; I have been systematically ignored and punished by HR for trying to stand up to the abuse. Anyone seeking to study, or work at the University should be warned that you will be used, abused and then ignored if you complain about it. To anyone reading this, do not be fooled by what is just a PR comment response to this review. I have already submitted multiple complaints via the relevant "complaint forms". The reality is, is that the Schools themselves get to decide whether a complaint is valid or not; and if your making a complaint TOWARDS the school; they clearly have a significant bias in ignoring and gaslighting you into thinking your complaint is meritless. As well as the power to do it, and then punish you with the loss of job opportunities for having complained in the first place.

The University of Queensland is inspiring. My relationship with UQ began when I was just 14 years old attending an evening German poetry competition. The Great Court’s illuminated sandstone buildings were a breathtaking sight, but it was seeing the Pitch Drop laboratory experiment—the world’s longest-running experiment—that truly captured my imagination and inspired me to later study physics. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to explore much of what UQ has to offer. I earned three qualifications, which allowed me to pursue my academic passions. I made lifelong friends and developed new hobbies—rowing, and dancing. I'm grateful for the incredible support and mentorship that helped me excel academically and personally. The campus itself is a picturesque oasis, ideal for learning, playing, socialising or lakeside picnics under the blooming Jacaranda trees. Walking and running through the campus have been long time past times for me, with stunning architecture and lush greenery at every turn and with the Brisbane River bounding the campus, there’s always a view to admire. One of the most fulfilling parts of my association with UQ was teaching and mentoring the next generation of inspired students. Watching them work towards achieving their goals and developing friendships was truly rewarding.

The uni itself is pretty good, but some of the parking inspectors are verbally abusive, power tripping and just outright dangerious. Speeding around the university, well above the speed limits to race to try and find people who may be incorrectly parked for under 1 minute! I was driving 30KM/hr and the parking guy came up behind me super fast out of nowhere (definately above the speed limit), then tailgated me for at least a couple minutes until i took a different turn just to get out of his way. All of the signs in the back of his truck flew up and crashed down loudly because he didn't slow down to go over a speed bump. They keep harassing people asking for personal details that are not required to give parking fines. The driver of the ute UQ096 at night time is especially bad and agressive and I am fearful that someday he may lash out and hurt someone in anger if they refuse to comply with his unreasonable demands.

Recently applied for a BULA transfer two weeks ago. I was later told that I would receive an email information about obtaining my login account so I can enrol for Spanish. I have been accepted by both Universities Griffith and UQ to finish my major in Spanish. Only to find they have done nothing not even sent me the important email that I needed for today. The classes close after the 7th February and I was not told by that last week from UQ languages department. Ringing them does nothing, I rang about ten times but only got their machine, I had been ringing since 9am and didn’t get my call back when I requested one from the machine. I have a major to finish UQ get your enrolment service sorted out. They say they will ring tomorrow but I have my doubts. Likelihood I will have to go all the way to UQ in person just to get this thing sorted out. Ridiculous.

One of the premier universities in Australia, a member of the GO8 and consistently ranks in the top 50 universities worldwide according to multiple metrics. Students are offered an unparalleled study experience from highly qualified lecturers and given access to cutting-edge facilities and resources. Staff are given an outstanding work-lifestyle balance that is difficult to come by in this day and age. The campus itself is incredibly beautiful, well-known for its picturesque sandstone great court, jacaranda trees and its location beside the Brisbane river. UQ is by far the best opportunity for tertiary studies in Queensland! Source: spent close to 10 years at UQ completing my bachelor's and PhD, and two years working as staff.

Saint Lucia, the main University of Queensland campus is Situated on 114 hectares of Brisbane River-bound land. It’s a vast campus with a vibrant mix of majestic sandstone buildings and contemporary architecture, landscaped gardens and lakes. Fanning out from the heritage-listed Great Court, you’ll find modern teaching and research facilities, including laboratories, lecture theatres, and Queensland’s largest research library. The expansive grounds are also home to a variety of sporting facilities, museums, cafes, and those famous Jacaranda trees. It is only seven kilometres from Brisbane’s city centre, making it an appealing place to study, work or visit.

Currently crying myself to sleep reliving this incident. I went there for a tennis championship a while ago and the service was unbelievable. I used to want to transfer here but after that incident I changed my mind. I was supposed to play 4 matches - 2 singles and 2 doubles. After my 2 single matches I went to the cafe for a refreshment and the staff yelled at me when I tried to order and made me cry. I was so embarrassed to be crying in front of my competitors that I fortified the two doubles matches and left the competition. I haven’t returned to UQ or my tennis club since and I don’t regret a thing.

This is the best university in the Queensland state. This university is among the big five universities in Australia and reached 24th position in the world ranking university. The facilities here are very awesome. The buildings, the parks, the tuckshops and the learning facilities are excellent. This university offers a wide range of degrees and training. I really love this place and become one of my favorite campus. Spending a couple years studying here is just very wonderful. Please join this university to gain your dream as academics and professional.

I need to replace my id card, I sent in a clear photo of myself to be on the card and twice but I get some bs email saying the photo cannot be used, I did everything right the photos were clear and my shoulders are visible as part of the instructions about selecting the photo for the replacement id card. What do I have to do take the damn photo at Mount Everest. Griffith University had the id card done for me right on the spot with the exact same photo I had sent to UQ. Get your act together UQ.

  • Kwong Wong

I would say this is the best university campus in Australia after I have been to all universities in Australia, and am impressed by the architecture of the main building which was built with beautiful sandstone. Also, the disposition of land use within the campus is very well thought of by the planner of the scheme. The colleges for the students are mostly within walking distance You would enjoy a scenic drive along the meander loop of Brisbane River around the campus.

The university of Queensland was where I competed my undergraduate and honours. The campus is exquisite and the decor looks and reminds me of old ancient cities. The staff is very professional and the facilities accessible to students are amazing. I had some of my best years at this university, memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. I met some of my best friends here, lifelong friends that I've studied with, worked with and had fun with.

  • Sean Nuguid

This is a great place to study. The classes are taught well, there are plenty of resources available to students to review their course content including copies of their lectures slides, lecture recordings, tutorial work and other additional resources depending on the course. There are also plenty of great facilities including libraries, 24/7 study spaces and various stores. High quality wifi is available for student use.

  • Scott McKeown

This is an Academic City. Steeped in an amazing architectural history the Sandstone buildings are beautiful. This is where students become Professionals. In surroundings of landscaped gardens and manicured laws it speaks of the academic sophistication of History when Grand facilities are matched Academically. My Wife Graduated from here initially in the 1970's and it's grown and it's still a wonderful University.

  • Lina Jmnz

I hardly could believe my eyes. This campus is located by the Brisbane river and has a multitude of green areas that look very well maintained. Its infrastructure is great and overall the university looks perfectly planned. There is also a wide variety of restaurants and cafes as well as diverse activities to do. This place make me feel willing to study again 5☆.

  • Upendranath Barman

Brisbane city is beautiful to be visited by tourists. Queensland university in Brisbane is very nice for education and training. River flows through the city. Downtown is especially light at night to make the skyline more interesting and beautiful. All the buildings keep their lights on at night, even after the working hours.

  • Jun Ma

I visited UQ a few times and was impressed by the facility I saw and the staff I met.The theses that I reviewed from UQ each were built on a number of high impact journal publications; they are well organized and easy to read. UQ graduate office staff such as Megan did a fantastic following up work for all sort of issues.

  • Carlie R-M (Ath3na)

My UQ experience shaped me into the happy and ambitious woman that I am today. Facilities and staff were world class and I am still so glad this university was my top QTAC preference those many years ago. I am a proud 2015 Alumni of the Tourism & Hospitality degree and will always think highly of my experience here.

  • Roshan Bagla

Excellent university with top notch facilities and professors. One of the top universities in the world and ranked 1st in Queensland. Astonishing and beautiful campus. This 20th century university or stand stone university has lot to offer. Currently, I'm studying master's degree and the experience is really good.

  • Thule L.S.

They charge about 5400 dollars per course for international students, you will need to pay at least 172,800 dollars tuition fee if you want to get a four-year honour degree here. However it’s still a reasonable price for world class universities and the academic reputation here is one of the best in Australia.

  • Jacob Ambach

The most beautiful, elegant university I've ever been. I study at a different university but am very impressed with UQ. It's a mini city has bank branches there and lots of food outlets. It's a huge campus so expect to be a little bit lost but there are directory maps around. All students are friendly.

  • Yodaman Solo

Damn! This is a very nice campus. It’s so well manicured and well maintained. Everywhere you go it’s nice and scenic. And so many spots you can sit and relax and enjoy the sights and sounds. Where I come from due to harsh winters it’s not comparable. I would enjoy attending this university. …

  • eAuto Pilot

Very beautiful and spacious campus. I visited the University of Queensland Saint Lucia campus during the holiday season, it was so quiet and peaceful. You can take bus or ferry from central Brisbane to the Saint Lucia campus. Ferry is free on New Year's Eve and maybe Christmas.

  • Benedict Uy

Nice place to stroll around. Quite a few large lakes near the Ferry Terminal entrance. There is also wuite a nice, large grassy area inside where you can just sit and enjoy the buildings and atmosphere. Busses to and from the Univeristy can be caught at Chancellors place.

  • Laugh It Up

Terrible University, didn’t have an origin kebabs on site. Would not spend another 40 thousand dollars at this venue again. Instead I prefer the much superior facilities at The Queensland University of Technology which does have an origin kebabs.

Students are not valued here. Bureaucracy is over the roof and nobody cares about actual people. No support or understanding from the administration. So many people review the architecture and the parks around, but is it the actual reason

  • Räşad Paşazadä

One of the best campuses in the world - plenty of libraries, study areas, parks, even lakes. I was blow away also to spot some pelicans and eels in the lakes of UQ. A few cafes and restaurants are located in the campus as well. Does not

  • TY Foo

Charismatic buildings over spacious land. Amenities and facilities to keep the students happy during school and play hours. Manicured lawns fit for picnics and home to free ranging bush turkeys.

  • Stacy Swan

The worst student services you could imagine! Long line of bureaucracy and emailing back and forth really makes me wonder: Does UQ seriously pump all the money into ads and marketing?

  • brenton short

This is a university in Queensland. If you are looking to go to university in Queensland this place has your back. Nice trees and I hear some resident turkeys can tutor in horticulture.

UQ is okay from what I've seen so far, but QUT's only that much more close so it's basically the choice of if you want to take a train there or not.

  • Zhivko Tabakov

The lake is currently being renovated and some streets are closed. One part of it is still open and the jakaranda trees are still beautiful as ever.

  • Nurain Y

An alumni here! Loved the campus environment, worth visiting the UQ Lake, the Great Court and a few nice cafes inside even if you're not a student.
