It seems like this car park and the signaling ( or lack of) are purposefully made to make you believe it's a free car park, unless you are familiar with the area or are on foot. There are very small all black panels ( as opposed to yellow like in many other places) with tiny white writing, hidden in the bushes next to the entance, which you can't really see as you're driving in, unless you're looking specifically for them. There are no big panels or signs to indicate this is a paid car park. There is no barrier at any entrance or exit, to let you know you're supposed to pay ( I understand they use cameras, but even the signs warning of cameras are small and not in bold colours to make them noticeable). There are no panels or signals in bright colours around the car park that direct you to the pay station. All the signage and panels they use are small, few and purposefully made to not be seen, unless you know they are there. Therefore when we sparked here, we didn't see any of the normal paid car park signs or pay stations, and thought it was free. A month later we were served with a nice £100 fine. Because they pruposefully didn't make it clear it's a paid car park. I guess this is one way to make some extra money, since the shopping centre seems empty and everyone that knows it's a paid car park probably avoids it. Well done preying on the visitors!
Parked here on Sunday. Checked the rules etc and made sure we were back within 3 hours. My partner stood in a long queue to pay, put in our reg and price was £3. He had cash, but realised it was a card only machine. He moved up to the next machine, put reg in again and it changed to £10. He then had to come back to the car to get his card to pay. An outrageous amount of money to visit a half empty shopping centre. If I ever go to Sutton again, (unlikely) I'll make sure to park in the Gracechurch car park, which is free on Sunday. I would have thought that if they wanted to attract people into the few shops there, they wouldn't be fleecing us in the car parks.
COMPLETE MONEY GRABBING SCHEME!! This is the second time I have had a fine after putting my registration into the Aldi free parking machines. I swear they don't even work!!! And a £60 fine? This company must be monitored by someone, SURELY?? after reading the horrible reviews other people have written I don't understand why they don't just put the barriers back up!! I'll tell you why, because then they can't abuse the people who use the free parking advantage !!!!! UTTER JOKE!!!
This car park is large, well located and has good access. What is inexcusable however is the overly complex and unreliable way that the payment machines here operate. It's too complex and takes too long to pay for parking, the system often doesn't identify the vehicles number plate and, even after paying, people are still getting fined. This happened to me and luckily I had kept my printed ticket so I was able to scan it and send it to the parking company who then withdrew the fine.
Disaster trying to pay. Machines would only accept coins, not cards. Website / app requires registration and also requires you to enter a 'start time' which I'm sure most people can't remember precisely. Wasted about 15 minutes simply trying to pay and several other people at the machines were equally as frustrated with none of them having coins either.
Not great for parking if your disabled as anyone takes up the disabled spaces as you can see in my pictures, the carpark is very quick to fine you if you park for longer or forget to put in the reg in the shops but they don't stop the people who are not disabled parking in disabled bays, I myself advised it was for disabled but was ignored by the woman
Be very careful, if you park there! I went shopping to Aldi and B&M, and the sign says, customers get 3 hours free parking, but that is not true!!! The parking machines had a server error (probably the company does not do any maintenance), and I was charged £100!!! So very bad place for shopping, I will go somewhere else in the future!
Nearly always long queues at the machines to pay. Remember over 3 hours and its £10 (Geeeerrrr. Yes, i parked for just over 3 hours) You must leave the carpark within 10 minutes of paying or entering registration in Aldi or B&M consoles or they will give you £100 parking charge
We got a parking ticket despite my mom clearly having a Blue Badge in the car window. Appealed against it and they rejected the appeal. The fine is £100 fine, which is excessive. Despicable people.
Good place to go shopping BIG BUT If you don't put your REG Number of your CAR BY YOUR PHONE you will get PARKING FINE-OR GO SHOPPING IN ALDI put your REG Number in shop you dune you're shopping
Another Hole that thinks people from out of town want to pay to park. Im here for work, I would never voluntarily come here to shop...
Way too expensive and a very stupid method of paying that no one understands what a stupid idea it should be rectified immediately
1 machine out of 3 works, couldn't find my reg and then wouldn't take payment. Cant wait to get a fine for not paying.
In the heart of the town centre but get there early it fill very fast great if your going to aldis
Don't use , con merchants if you park even a inch over the line your in for a fine
£10 to park what a joke. Please park at the station or the gracechurch …
Terrible machine wouldn’t take my card and no one to help
Not too bad but the parking machines are extremely slow.
Free parking for 2 hours when you spend £10 in Aldi
Well placed for shops, 90 pence for 2 hours.
