Absolutely disappointed with the service of the company. When I said to the guy who was raising his voice on me, abusing me, and was ironically laughing of me that I want to speak with the manager- he claimed himself as a boss of this place- James if I am correct. Yesterday evening we rent a van- the store manager told us to pay for extra insurance which will cover all the damages except the windscreen- so thinking about what can happen we agreed for it. He highlighted points on the contract and told me to sign this this and this for this this and this, not even getting a minute for read anything. Today when I was about to return the van, the tyre exploded on the middle of the road, when I called company I got the information where to find the number, call them and deal with it. I was sitting in the car for almost 7h without any help of the company. And when I called them later on one women hang out on me when I refused to pay. Second time they told me that it’s my fault and I have to pay for the tyre. When finally I was in company office, I told them that on the report which I received a night before is issue on this tyre identified and I don’t feel good knowing that these people let me rent the van knowing that there is an issue, and now claiming that I have to pay that this faulty tyre exploded. Apparently the owner was jumping on me telling me that it’s a Van history and this issue has been fixed in 2021- I don’t understand why it’s in the report from yesterday if it has been fixed but that’s what he said- the whole report if it’s “fixing history” is quite small for such long period of time, plus only one issue with the tyre across whole history- interesting. He claimed that all the tyres were brand new replaced in October, and when I told him that I have a video of the tyres condition and they don’t look brand new at all, he said that they normally not replacing with brand new, but in good condition. So just another lie. When I requested to prove that the tyres was checked he showed me “some” check with picture where I can see 2cm of the tyre, don’t know if it was this tyre, this van, and told him it’s not proving anything. And he told me very rudely that how I will prove that it’s not me who damage the van, I was driving almost 90 miles and brought damaged van. Please James don’t worry- enough cameras across the Bristol to prove that it exploded while driving. I said that I disagree with me being charged for it, he has no prove of the checks being done correctly, and the report from yesterday clearly identify faulty tyre, and he said I don’t need to agree on anything cause I won’t get my deposit back. So I don’t pay for anything. When I mentioned that his staff is not competent, told us that the extra insurance cover all damages except windscreen he started shouting and abusing me that it’s my problem that I can’t read cause it’s in the contract, and if they didn’t give me enough time to read contract in the office I could read it afterwords. Absolutely disgusting behaviour if you claim yourself as a boss. Absolutely disgusting customer service. And absolutely disgusting way of taking customer health as a priority. Companies like this shouldn’t exist. I will never recommend to anyone, I never leave negative review, but this situation was asking me to do it. Of course, the situation will be consulted, as the boss were laughing of me that I can go to any lawyer I want, but I still will be charged and ironically laughed and wished me a good day when I left.

Good vehicle and price (though cleanliness of the cabin could be better). Staff at the counter class in person no complaints there. Have used u-drive in the past with no issues but on this occasion they retained some of my deposit for fuel. Was given to me not full and fuel level not marked on the rental agreement. On return, I specifically asked the staff if the fuel level was okay and they said yes, fine, because I couldn’t remember exactly what it went out on (with it being a random proportion of full). Then find later they retained some of my deposit to pay for £12.50 of fuel. On querying this was told that I should’ve received a check out document by email with the correct fuel level to return the vehicle on, but this was never previously mentioned and turned out that was in my spam, but not something I’ve looked for giving I wasn’t told to expect it. They weren’t willing to return the rest of my deposit and of course technically they are correct that the rental agreement states the vehicle must be returned on the exact same level of fuel as it was taken out. No argument there. However, I rent vehicles a lot and these sort of minor discrepancies companies normally never mention because some people bring them back slightly over and some very slightly under. It all comes out in the wash. Just not a smooth experience and not something that leads you to want to be a repeat customer. If they want us to be bang on accurate in returning fuel levels, the solution is very simple… Send out the vehicle full and that’s a very simple level for a customer to fill up to beforee returning, rather than guessing. If I underfilled fine, but what has me ranting and raving rather than just being disappointed in how they do things at u-drive is the staff on return saying the level was fine, then charging me once I left.

U Drive in Bristol, the absolute worst place I've ever hired a vehicle from. We hired 2 vans, one didn't even make it out of the yard before it became apparent it wasn't fit for purpose or safe. Spent more than 30 minutes convincing them to give me a replacement, which meant our day's work was already behind. Both vehicles were filthy, I mean really dirty. The cabs actually had left over food all over the floor and drinks containers everywhere. U Drive policy on like for like in terms of fuel is also designed to be advantageous to them as both vehicles were empty. Any one who hires vans with large fuel tanks knows how hard it is to return a vehicle with an empty tank. Receive full and return full is standard practice except here. When returning the vans they tried to keep our damage deposit because of dislodged wheel arch panelling on the inside. The cynic in me thinks you'd only fix a wheel arch cover in place with soft mastik in the back of a panel van designed to carry heavy goods if you wanted it to come off. To make this whole hire seem even more like a scam U drive actually took no record of internal damage to the van at the beginning of the hire, in fact their forms have no section to mark out internal damage so they had zero proof we caused damage, but they still refused to return the deposit until I spoke to the manager, guy called Darren. Who ok'd the refund. Great. Until I noticed on my bank statement today that on the same day I left their office they took 2 payments of £18 off of our company debit card, which means they kept an unauthorised copy of our card including the security number. Which is incredibly worrying. Avoid these guys like the plague, seriously, I hire regularly throughout the year and I've never received such a poor service or been treated so badly.

Fake Blue Light discount - they advertise 10% off for cardholders but nothing happens when you apply the code to your order. Customer services say this is because the online prices are the cheapest they can be... So why are there codes for 10% off at all?! Shady. We also ordered a LWB van in order to fit this up a narrow lane for moving house, but they'd run out on the day (why did they let us order it then..?) and gave us a "free upgrade" to a Luton box van. They assured us this was no wider than the van we'd ordered but it absolutely was and wouldn't fit where we needed it to go, so carrying all our furniture an extra 50m to where we ended up having to park it was a nightmare. The manager refused to compensate us for this and said they'd give us 10% off our next booking instead... I thought the online prices couldn't get any cheaper?! Won't be using them again in any event.

Worst experience ever - DO NOT USE. I hired a 7.5 tonne lorry and the reverse gear wouldn’t work. As a result, we were delayed by 30 minutes on our house move and had to pay the movers more money. When the lorry eventually did go into reverse, it lurched forward violently and we cracked the wing mirror on a branch sticking out. It’s now been over 1 week after returning the lorry and we have still not had our deposit back and each time we call for an update, we are just told it’s being processed with the insurers! Looks like we will have to issue a claim in the county court to get our money back, which is appalling customer service and a lot of hassle.

KEEPING HOLD OF MY DEPOSIT !… Booked a transit van for 1day on the 25/5/23 from Petherbridge Bristol branch. Customer service was very slow in checking the paperwork and booking in my details. SOo So slow. When I returned the van I asked for a receipt and he couldn’t give me receipt, only giving me a sales invoice stating Payment Due. and I also questioned why he hasn’t returned my deposit.. he said it will take 2 to 3 day to go back into my bank….what a dam cheek after returning the van in time and good condition, he just explained that’s the policy. I will never use this company ever again, totally un-professional.

I needed a five-people car for a day and while looking at the usual suspects they all wanted in excess of £300! I came across U-Drive by accident and they had a car available for £75! I booked online, only to receive later on a note that the car I booked was not available, so I called up, expecting either no car at all or something at a much higher cost. To my pleasant surprise I was offered a larger model at more or less the same price. The process of getting the car took about ten minutes or less and the return was even shorter. All in all I can whole-heartedly endorse this car hire business.

We rented a long wheel base van: it was FILTHY inside and out. Literally disgusting. One of the panels had been broken off and thown into the back too. Spoke to customer service are they didn't see the problem with hiring out a van in such bad condition. I was offered a 10% discount, or alternatively could drive the 40 miles back to their centre to have it cleaned now that I had raised the issue that it was filthy. I told them neither of these 2 option we're good enough and so was encouraged to leave a negative review online: here is your review U drive, from (AN EX) long term customer.

Very poor service, took 45 to an hour to collect 9 seater which was booked 3 days in advanced. The vehicle was very filthy, took 25 mins to clean it but still very filthy. One tyre was flat which took another 20 mins. The car stank of alcohol. When questioned the guy said well we been busy and was not willing to listen. I feel this was very poor service and not even an apology. Overall pathetic service. I would never use U-Drive again. Stay clear guys there are much better rental companies out there with better rates. Zero star not an option otherwise I would give it zero!

My concern over the vehicle electrics dodgy headlights that did not illuminate the road ahead only discovered when I needed them so made for a slow journey home in the dark, and a repeater that worked when it wanted to. and the lack of explanation of the controls. Tail lift switch in cab, took a while to figure which switch as not labelled. Along with the sack trucks that were not fit for purpose. That said at least they were open on a Sunday and still rent 7.5 tonne vehicles, locally to me I could have had one or the other.

Brilliant service. Cheapest van hire I could find on the day I needed. Collection and return were so easy. The deposit was very reasonable compared to other companies I tried and it was back in my bank 3 working days after returning it. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars and not 5 is because the van I received was rather dirty. The agent that went round the van with me did say about them not long been returned from couriers and they tend not to treat them the best. Overall though a good experience.

This was the first time I had ever hired a vehicle in the UK and I was very pleasantly surprised ... the service provided by the U-Drive team, and Cameron in particular, was second to none. The most important qualities of 'Politeness', 'Helpfulness' and 'Friendliness', were at the forefront of their service delivery ... the costs involved in my particular case were very reasonable. I would not hesitate to recommend U-Drive and this office in particular for all your needs.

I have been using this company for four years and left thousands of pounds there, also recommended them to lots of people who spend even more! I missed a payment of £103 while I have been away, They cancelled my rental with no excuse! The Bristol brand manager doesn't give an s... about the customers, When I called the main customer service, the arrogant lady on the phone told me that "they have 1000s of customers like me and people will keep using us" NEVER AGAIN!

Reasonable prices, van we had was quite old, it worked fine (apart from rear door which kept rolling up) guy at company was pragmatic when we looked over van at start of rent. Said "this is a workhorse van so will note on sheet many small scratches and skuffs" which was reassuring that they were not s company that was looking to rip you off for a small scratch that was not noted on sheet. Got security deposit back quickly. Do would use them again

I have used U-drive several times. Every time I have received great customer service, the checking in and dropping back has always been fast and without any issues. The vehicles supplied have always been clean (except a 7.5t flatbed) they have helped me at last minute notice and will I continue to use them. Also great that they have customer parking to leave your car and are open on Sundays! Prices are very reasonable!

Hired a van to drive my daughter s furniture from her flat to a new house . Did it on line. Easy to book and simple to do . Great price as well. Went to pick it up and was made to feel welcome. The lady that was on was very polite explained thing well. The van was brought round the front by a nice chap we inspected it together . He explained the paper work well. Nice van 70 plate. Well recommended using this company.

Appear to have made up a new defect, a "dent", on the vehicle I hired in order to steal £28 from my deposit. Conveniently, they waited until I had left the site to inform me via email so I couldn't dispute it. Given that they vehicle already had, by their own admission, 40+ defects, it's unlikely they will use the money to fix the supposed dent and instead use it to line their pockets Will not be using again

Having used u drive on numerous occasions before with ok experience. My fault left had a parking fine which they informed and I paid once letter came through from local council. I emailed with no reply why had they charged £42 to my account and authorisation. Have spent £1000s with this company so for the sake of taking £42 they have lost repeat business, bad review and I would not recommend.

Very friendly service. Very helpful staff. Also, very flexible and willing to provide a vehicle immediately as the gentleman before me experienced. As long as one is available and you have the necessary documents. Quite a sensible policy over damage and scrapes. I had the van for a weekend to move furniture. Had no issues whatsoever. The price was very good. Would highly recommend.

Average…. Van wasn’t great, the radio didn’t work at all, apparently that doesn’t count as technically it’s safe to drive, also no screen wash so spent the drive down the motorway chucking water on the windscreen, for £200 I’d expect these basic checks to be done, if you want a more premium experience don’t use these guys, use Enterprise or a better local company.

Until I found U-Drive, it was near impossible to find car hire in Bristol city centre that could be picked up on a Saturday and returned on a Sunday. U-Drive is just a five minute walk from the train station which was ideal for us. I booked by phone and received email confirmation. Everything went smoothly and I would highly recommend them.

Pleasant, hassle-free experience even in the middle of Christmas and New Year and during Covid. Hired a Large Luton van to move some furniture, it was very clean inside and out, all the minor damage was noted and I was very happy with everything. Booking back in was just as simple and the deposit was returned quickly. Would use again.

Not overly helpful, sudden change of availability of vehicle with the attitude of ‘it’s all we’ve got’ and told that they only had one of the type I required. This was proven to be a lie passing that style of vehicle on the motorway. Replacement vehicle had a lot of damage and was not weathertight or really fit fit purpose

Staff are good and the vans are good but the process is very slow. Make sure you leave plenty of time. They don't have a drop box so you cannot leave keys or vans out of hours which means you have to see someone. It just took me 40mins to drop some keys back. Staff good but the process they deal with is too slow

Good price for the vehicle hired. Staff were all friendly and polite. Reserved the van online beforehand which made the process even more streamlined. I've used this branch of U-Drive three times now and every time they've been great so I'd definitely use them again in the future!
