Westdene Cycles has always be recommended to me by old cyclists and I have gotten a bike from them which they discounted. So when it came time to service mine and my friends bikes I thought it would be worth trying them over CycleLab. How I wish we didn't. 5 bikes went in for small services coming out with a bill of close to R8000. They say they offer a full service for R500, then mumble under their breath that if the service comes to more than R1500 they'll call you for a go ahead...but they didn't. Only for one of the bikes. They pretty much changed everything and not even with quality parts, even though they say they're a Shimano supplier. Hassan was rude and dismissive of me. I am uncertain if my male riding buddy would have received the same treatment. If you're a lady, I recommend you find a male to go in for you so you're not taken advantage of. Begrudgingly we paid they bill. I asked what the warranty was to which they said 2 weeks!!! My kids only ride their bikes every couple of weeks. How could this be the case? Thankfully I got this written down, made sure I checked the bikes only to discover my son's breaks no longer worked (thankfully I tested them), they new tire they put in was flat and faulty (couldn't even be pumped). Both mine and my daughters gears wouldn't change and my chain kept falling off which hadn't happened before. How could this happen if the bikes had a full service!?! I have subsequently returned the bikes at my own expense and inconvenience (being over an hour round trip), with absolutely no applogy from their side and being told they can't give a time frame for when it will be ready. When I did collect once again the one bikes front breaks were still not working, the other two bikes gears were still getting stuck. I hope I never have to go back! Don't go here, especially if you're a woman!

I bought a bike last September, hardly 2months later, parts loosened and chain come off, took it to the shop, they tightened the parts and again less than a month later, about the 3rd time my son rode the bike, chains and other parts came loose again and he injured himself so badly, took it back again, this time they booked it in and two days later I collected it, they 'fixed' it. My son who was still recovering from the injury, didn't ride the bike for about 2months, the 4th time he attempted to ride the bike, parts and chain came loose again. This time I called in first, I was told either they fix the bike again or they will offer me an upgrade. On arrival, they insulted my son's ability to ride a bike, by suggesting that I bring him in so they can go with him to show him how to ride it, after they already confirmed it wasn't a good brand of bike. My question is, why sell a product if you know it isn't a good brand? Are they hoping that nothing happens to the person who bought it and then they would 'get away' with it? I ended up leaving the bike and my hard earned money as I refused to get a bike repaired only for it to break again. The reason for refusing to give me back even some of the money, was that the bike was 6months old, even though in those six months I took the bike back twice. A very bad buy, and an even greater loss, my son's injury as well as the money I 'donated' to them, I hope they don't resell that bike.

I've long been a fan of Westdene Cycles, but my recent experience was a disaster. We bought a new bike for my 4 year old, and when the chain was slipping, they couldn't care less. There was no sense of urgency in fixing a brand new bike that was bought from them. I had to take it back twice, and got the impression that I was wasting their time. The adult bike we had serviced had to be reserviced elsewhere. The hanger was bent, and one of the parts was cracked, and they didn't pick it up. Unfortunately they've lost a customer.

EXTORTION. Changed the brake cable on one bike and did nothing on the other as confirmed by their mechanic. Fred the boss was rude dismissive and his staff members were forceful that I pay. Absolutely nothing else was done on the bikes yet i was charged R300 labour on each bike so R600 and R100 brake cable change on one bike so R700. I argued till I saw that it was no use because the boss would not adress me and the staff member that brought the bikes was relentless,I paid and left.

I highly recommend Westdene Cycles. Ive always had excellent service from Faried and his team, they always return my calls and the prices are very reasonable . The shop can be a little chaotic at times, but they almost always have what you need in stock and if not they will source it for you.

Managed to walk in and walk right out with a new pair of rubbery soled mountain bike shoes to replace a pair bought there 20 years ago. Great help from Hassain. Unlike some terrible service I received at the biggest bike shop in Jhb. Even got tiny handlebar bells for R25 each. Ding, ding!

Do not buy bikes from this shop. Their prices are cheaper for a reason. Their after sales is disgusting. Once they get their money, they will take even more when things go wrong. Will not set my foot in their shop ever again and will advise all my cycling friends to never support them

The best customer service I have ever experienced from any bicycle store. [Considering that I was a first time customer.] They found a way to get my wife's bicycle ready for a race. [Hadn't booked the bike in for a service and we needed it repaired on the sameday.]

It's always been a pleasure going to a store that I have been going to from a young age almost like family store, great bicycles...with a owner that is always willing to assist how and when without pressure. You can go wrong... Go and see for yourself.

Excellent customer service, they're happy to order bikes in for you without a deposit and pricing is the best I've found. My cycle store of choice, despite the distance I need to travel to get there.
