Sometimes by pure luck, someone mentions or recommends a place when you are in the area. This happened to be the case when we visited Alice Art Gallery as we had time to kill, so we were told to look out for this sign. It was still early morning but they were open along with loadshedding affecting their lovely quaint coffee shop Café d'Art. We ended up spending so much time here. Loving the quirkiness of the signage all over the premises. Taking a slow walk in the fresh crisp air, taking in the sights and sounds. Walking amongst some STUNNING art pieces which I wish I could afford. Then just looking out at the space, they even have a small kiddies area. The deck of the coffee shop also has its own art pieces, and some lovely plants surrounding it. There is also space inside if you want to sit and stare at the paintings. It was a no brainer to sit outside. There were only a few other people sitting around. Drinks, we ordered what didn't require electricity, and to eat of course i ordered the carrot cake along with a scone. Loved the presentation of the scone and its quite big. Although my slice of cake was thin (according to me) it was rich and tasted lovely. Our waitress Precious took her time as she could see we were just enjoying the open space and appreciating the art pieces. We could walk freely between the rooms without someone constantly walking behind you It's really one of those hidden places that you would not normally pay attention to. I'm so glad we were told to make a stop here. Awesome morning. Stunning art/talent #TheFoodMusketeer #TheFoodMusketeerEats #TheFoodMusketeerExplores #TFMAliceArtGallery #TFMCafedart

The art gallery is lovely eith really fantastic art in it. The patio has a lovely vibe and a great place to sit outside and enjoy the food. We sat in yhe garden because we had 2 little people with us who wanted to run and play. The food was good. We had crumpets and syrup and cream /ice-cream. They were freshly made, the portions were large. Cappuccinos were absolutely excellent. The reason gave it 4 stars and not 5, is because the children's play area (which is what we need) wasn't great. A few items are very old and broken. The sandpit needs to be dug up a bit and new sand added... Maybe the children's area is not their priority.... But it is for me.

This has been our favourite place for the last 3 years. Since the very first time we've been there we've loved it. And now 3 years later the staff know's our faces and even know's what we are going to order before we order it. Always friendly service the food is always top of the range thank to the awsome chef in their kitchen. Definitely a must to visit for a morning breakfast.

After contacting the gallery owner via whatsapp and calling her circa October 2023 about two original Chantelle P artworks I was told today that she cannot assist. I had to call her again 3rd time. I believe this could of been done in October when I first raised the issue. Art was purchased from the gallery but not by me. Shocking service. Will definitely not recommend.

Amazing setting. Brilliant but limited menu with awesome food. Amazing large selection of different artist including some of the old masters. Extra out buildings are stunning and make an already amazing gallery even better. Plus their gorgeous cat who greeted us on arrival is so very loving. What an awesome experience? Won't wait so long to go back again.

Truly a very special Art gallery. Wonderful variety of art and prices in a fantastic gallery. The restaurant food is also good. I personally loved the small creative touches outside as well and the beautiful views. If I had the money, I would have def bought some of the SA art. This is the best Art Gallery I have ever been to. Def worth a visit ✔️❤️

The best reason the venture out to the West Rand. Magnificent art in a most stunning setting. There is something for everyone. You do not have to be a serious art lover to fall in love with this fab gallery. And if you are lucky you might just bump into owner Alice! Yes - she does exist! Oh and def the best carrot cake and "pap en sous" in Johannesburg!

  • Chris Erasmus

Not very impressed with the service at the venue. It clearly caters for about 50 patrons but it’s kitchen and staff can’t handle that amount of patrons. Otherwise the cost is reasonable and the food not over or under prepared. The perfect venue if you are retired and is not pressed for time to have breakfast or lunch The art work on display is good

This art gallery combines the feeling of the countryside with art that caters for all tastes. Browse through the different galleries, the craft shop and enjoy something to drink or eat while you're here. The combination of art and peaceful environment makes this a lovely outing. There's also enough to do for the kids, including a play area

Birthday. Because it was close to closing time, for the rest of the year, the chef had to remove some of the items on the menu. He actually made an exception for us and prepared a variation of it. The place is neat, lots of parking, indoor and outdoor seating, and has a relaxed ambience between art works.

  • Gary Cullen

I only popped in to collect a few pieces, but what I saw was incredible. I see a few special moments happening there. Alice is full of energy and a personality to match. I will definitely make a point to pop in again for tea and cake and take a gander around the galleries.

A hidden gem, situated in Ruimsig, Roodepoort. This gallery is a must see for any art enthusiasts. There is also a small coffee shop/restaurant inside the main gallery where you can grab a bite to eat, while also feasting your eyes on all the exquisite art work around you.

  • Deborah Smethurst

Small and quirky with a nice variety of South African artists displaying work. Gift shop and cafe (with great quiche and cappuccino) and framing service available too. Also offers independent art lessons with the wonderful Margie Kaufman and guest artists.

  • Charl Britz

Alice art gallery is a art gallery that is inspired by the movie Alice in Wonderland .The art there is top notch and there small but potent restaurant is a great place for a Sunday lunch of even a great place for a meeting place. You won't be disappointed

  • elizabeth gevers

Three spacious rooms with a variety of art. A tea garden with twittering birds and a scenic view across the golf course and a low mountain range in the distance. Bric-a-brac on sale. A menu list for all diets. Garden is also used for photo shoots.

  • Erna Steenkamp

This gallery hosts many stunning art exibitions and events. Sitting in the coffee shop or outside gives a lot of pleasure. The gallery owners are true to nature and love the mongoose, owls and birds that find peace in the tranquil garden.

  • Eric Zacharie

What a beautiful venue. The artwork is well selected, and the venue is clean spaced. We lived it but came a bit late so the venue was a bit dark outside. I want to come back during the day. Do they do lunches? I see there is a play area.

  • Kim Muirhead

Food and waiters great, waiting for food to arrive not so much. Great place to have a cup of tea out of town. Lot of reasonably priced mainstream art. Somewhat puzzled by the owners response a year later with the gallery's opening times.

  • Chase byron Brewitt

Art gallery and art market was a great experience, some really unique artwork. However the restaurant staff were not welcoming and unfriendly so much so they told us when and how to order our food which I find highly disrespectful.

  • Majiyebo Esuga

Didn't think I'd like art as much as I did. Not enough black representation though. And the art isn't very deep. Most of them will not be relevant in a few years. Overall though I had a lot of fun. I 100% recommend

  • Christina Cornelius

Gorgeous venue, the kids' play area need some serious maintenance. I wouldn't let my toddler play on half of the things there. We were like 2 pairs of people there and service took long. Food was great though.

  • Juan Thomas

  • Stephanie Human

What an experience to walk through the showroom and have the opportunity to see all the stunning artwork of different artists! The gallery makes you feel excited and the staff were so friendly.

  • Catherine Bishop

It was pleasant but I find it very formal and a little cold. The staff are minimal interactive in sharing knowledge of menu, and just estranged from public. I was a slight bit disappointed.

  • Ronnie Langley

Had a magic breakfast at a small outdoor table in the sun early on a quiet Sunday morning. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly, efficient staff and good art to open the mind in the clustered city

  • G C

Nice place to visit rarely unless you are going to buy art. Food is average as is the service. Nice outside area to play for the kids, but right next to the golf course on a narrow hole.
