I recently went to the John Lewis, Leeds salon and had my hair cut and coloured by Lucy. Firstly, when I had my hair colour consultation a couple of days before my appointment, she was actually looking disgusted by the condition of my hair. I understand it wasn't in great condition at all, I've dyed it lots and bleached it recently but to look so disgusted in her expression... I felt like I had to apologise. I have two young children so can't just go to a salon every month and keep up to it. I told her I wanted it all one length but shorter and she brought out a colour chart where she found my current colour and I chose the colour I wanted. Fast forward to Saturday and it was a disaster from the moment I sat down. Firstly, when she showed me the colour I'd said I wanted, it was actually the colour she said was my current colour and started telling me it was wrong and I needed a different colour. That's fine, but SHE was in the wrong, because she showed me a totally different colour. If I wanted the same colour I already had, I wouldn't pay for it to be coloured. I pushed that to one side and then chose my new colour and she went about dying it. The amount of colour she got on my face was ridiculous. I understand it will get in certain places on my head, but it was on my actual cheeks and she gave me a cotton pad to remove it whilst she continued dying it and getting it on my ears, around my hairline but moving onto my forehead. Once she had dyed it, she moved me to a seat under a heater... And didn't turn it on. So I was just sat there for nothing. When she rinsed it out, it was okay but she still managed to get the shampoo on my face and a small bit in my right eye, which was irritated for the next couple of days. Now for the cutting, which is my main issue with the experience. I specifically said at both my colour consultation and my appointment when I first sat down that I wanted it to my shoulders, ONE LENGTH. I ended up with a bob that I quite frankly hate. If I'd had any more off, I wouldn't be able to put my hair up and I wanted that as it's just easier with 2 children under 3. Instead, I got a bob and the blow dry at the end (that o didn't ask for) was horrible. The photo I showed her of the haircut I wanted, was ONE length. She clearly did it too short at the back and instead of telling me, just cut it into a bob. Which I definitely didn't want as they don't suit my face shape at all. I left her a (small) tip because despite the numerous issues and hairstyle that I didn't want, I love the colour and my hair does feel in much better condition, but I've bought Olaplex so that is probably why. I went to the John Lewis Salon in November 2021 and had Jamie cut my hair and he was so lovely, professional, didn't make me feel rubbish about my hair (in bad condition due to myself being pregnant at the time) and the cut was lovely. He was so polite. That was why I went back and thought I'd actually booked him... That's an error on my part, though. So yeah. Not a good experience and it's only because of my experience with Jamie that I've booked again but at a different salon. I feel really bad this is the first review and it's negative, however I feel I had to post this. I was made to feel disgusting as my hair was knotty and she was so abrupt and rude and I felt that I didn't get the professional service I should have. I was there over two hours and felt awkward the whole time I wouldn't recommend this salon unless the service was carried out by someone else. Absolutely rude individual who very clearly messed up my hair.

Chelsea was amazing, she was very welcoming, nice, cheerful, efficient, professional and caring! I suffer from insomnia and never easily get into sleep, but her magical touch got me into relaxing nap during the session and a very nice night time sleep afterwards! She personalised the massage session to my liking meeting my needs we talked about, magically untied the hard knots in my back and shoulders, I thought I will wake up today in too much pain and sore but actually it's not that bad, as she was gently working through the massage. Thanks a lot for an excellent service!

I had my haircut by Libby, who I thought was fantastic. She listened to what I wanted, picking up on my uncertainty and made helpful suggestions and gave advice so that I was happy with the overall result. Libby checked in at different stages to ensure that I was happy with the progress being made throughout. She was really lovely, easy going and chatty which made the appointment a joy to attend. I loved the end result and would recommend to anyone considering Allertons.

Excellent service! Had a great experience for a first time at Allertons. Took my 12 year old daughter in for her first professional haircut in years. She wanted to maintain the length and have some layers to frame her face- Samuel did a wonderful job and also advised against layers at the back as she has quite thick wavy hair which I appreciated. My daughter left loving her new haircut and wants to return in the future! Thank you!

I got a practical refund from my credit card provider after multiple issues regarding the courses of treatments I purchased. The Allertons customer services team kept telling me they had forwarded my email to the Director, who never responded. The customer services team started to ignore my emails and deleted my online account, which made it impossible for me to use the services I’d purchased —absolute waste of time.

Barabora was an amazing massage therapist and very experienced. I’ve been having a lot of pain in neck and shoulder for some time and already feel a lot lighter after a 1hr deep tissue massage. Will be going again and booking in with her to help sort it out as she really knows her stuff! The atmosphere is lovely and the rooms are inviting. Clean, calm and professional environment

I wasn’t able to get an appointment online, so i went to John Lewis branch, and the staff were able to fix me in with the available time. I was super elated and I’d definitely come back, as I wasn’t able to use the other services i wanted. I’ll book an appointment next time before going. The staff were really helpful and super friendly. I had a great time.

I got a walk-in appointment on Thursday of last week with a stylist called Anna. She was lovely, very professional and her attention to detail over my cut was excellent; she wanted my hair to be perfect (it was far from perfect when I walked in). The salon has nice surroundings and very pleasant staff - would highly recommend.

I had a maderotherapy treatment with Barbora and couldn’t be more pleased with the results! Barabora was amazing and very experienced, she explained me everything before starting and made me feel very comfortable during the treatment! He’s extremely professional and ensures you have a really high quality experience, I always leave feeling so pleased with my finished hair. But he is also very warm natured and friendly, and completely puts you at ease.

Had the best massage I have ever had here. The ambience was perfect, you wouldn't think you are in the middle of a busy city centre. No too much chit chat from the masseuse- which I appreciated. Had the hot stone massage, so relaxing and worked gently through every knot. Will definitely be back.

My teenage daughter came to get her haircut with Jaimee. She is very fussy and he was amazing with her and did exactly what she wanted. First time she’s ever walked away from a hairdressers and loved her haircut… even sent photos to all her friends. I’ve booked in with him next week now too

Wonderful experience on both services - gel nails and keratin hair treatment. I had my nails done beautifully by Katy and I just love it. Keratin treatment by Jaime(she) was done so perfectly with details. She even explained how the product works and recommended proper hair care routine.

Really lovely, my regular salon was booked up and I needed a fringe trim, the stylist listened to everything I said and even gave me advice about future cuts as I’m growing out a pixie cut. Felt very valued and taken care of even though it was just a fringe trim. Highly recommend!

Thoroughly recommend Allertons - the stylists are excellent, the salon feels relaxed and friendly and the whole experience is top class. I only wish it was possible to tip via card payment as I rarely carry cash.
