worst experience ever...!! we bought a cat 2 weeks ago. a Burmese ( 500 $) He was sick. so we went to the hospital. The girl from the store seemed to be nice, she was like 'Oh my god don't worry go to this hospital I'll accept the treatment etc.) it was still on the guarantee. the cat were doing really bad and everyday we were asking what was going on, what's new, what's the diagnostic..? and the hospital told us we can't have a diagnostic cause the shop doesn't even autorise a basic blood test. So I talked to them, they told me yes we accepted!! it has been like that 2 weeks two weeks they were saying yes yes we accept for that etc, but at the hospital they were saying no. They were lying!!! yesterday my baby cat is dead...and we still don't know why!! the only thing i know is that they didn't accept to pay for a basic blood test so he didn't receive the drugs he needed !!! Today we went to the shopt to have our money back, and guess what? they gave us a credit in the store !! who would like to spend money there just after loosing a pet !!! So let me tell you something, just don't go there!! it was so painful for us. so hard to know your cat is sick but they don't accept to pay for a basic test which could have helped...Second they are really irresponsible cause they don't know what happened to this cat and this cat was with other in the shop. So the others cats could be sick too !! i'm not angry because the cat was sick, i'm angry because of their behavior! because they weren't honest!! I hope this comment is gonna help...

Already the ambiance when I came there was feeling weird to me... Not many supplies, many animals looking not well treated in dirty and small habitat... In my customer experience, never the name ''Expert'' was accurate to the service I've got and I doubt the people rating 5 stars that place without precise infos might not even be real... But believe me, don't go check for any advices on aquariums there. The price and date of the products have to be checked too. It's even more complex than having a cat or a dog and they don't seem to care much about them just because fishes are small. I came a second time for a specific betta medication they said they had, but shown me something different and then, maybe to make me go away, gave me a sample bag of something not even for bettas and that would have killed my fish! I didn't trust them so as I didn't saw it getting poured the bag in front of me, in case they would have put something bad in it, I threw it away. Worse than that, the way one of the staff was talking to me (they all seem like a bunch of student that are not passionate about animal care), with impatience and lacking so much empathy for my situation, almost looked at me as if pissed or that I was stupid... Saying my fish was just old and about to die!!! So rude when you fear for the life of your pet...

We purchased a pet treat from this store, went home gave our pet the treat, and realized afterward that the treats had EXPIRED! We went back to the store the next day and they refused to refund us because the package had been opened! Honestly! I think they would have just put the product back on the shelf to sell to someone else if they could have! I cannot believe that a pet store would sell an expired product and then refuse to refund the product after the fact. I am so disgusted. Lucky the manufacturer of the product has agreed to send us a refund, but the manufacturer said that the store should have done that for us. I will never shop here again and would advise that others stay away from this store. Horrible customer service and expired pet products. If you love your pet steer clear. PS Don't buy pets from pet stores, don't support puppy mills. Use a breeder or adopt at a local shelter!

I first visited the store in February 2015 as a proud new owner/daddy of an 8-weeks newborn GSD Sable boy named Thor! We’ve truly been loyal customers ever since, Best choice I’ve ever made. Purchasing everything from pet foods & supplies, treats, training equipment and its must-have SPA day and care! Why? Because they’ve simply never sold me anything in six years… in return I was given impeccable service through genuine helpful advice and excellent customer care. As it wasn’t enough already, I feel blessed as they supporting me like only family can throughout such a traumatic event such as having one of Thor’s front paw cushions badly infected finally amputated. Went to get a rat and ask question. One of the staff was rude and looked bored and the other was really kind and full of help. Somehow they really don't know good information about rats and cages. Once back home I realise that I should've done more research before going there and let them sell me a full kit. Little cage for the rat, told me that I should need a tank for it. Turn out tank are super bad for rats. I knew rats need two or three of their kind, instead told me that they will kill each others later on. I ended up going back for another rats and more bedding for a bigger cage that I had to buy after buying one there. (Even stuck with a 30inch tank)

Visited once from out of town. A nice city bet store with a good variety of goods from cheap to high quality. The store is packed with merchandise despite being a small lot. There are a bunch of freshwater fish and live aquarium plants, budgies, cockatiels, hamsters, bettas, the noodle cat animals I forget their names, and kittens. One note is the kittens are ridiculously overpriced and either came from a breeder or are for profit. The 'adoption fee' for the kittens far exceed those of a shelter. Most of the staff were friendly but my interaction was very limited. The one fish guy was a bit too stoic and only kept to himself.

Came in to see if there was a toy to get for my cats to bring home. Received very bad customer service and felt extremely unwelcome. We were playing with the store kitty and the guy said, “These toys are for sale, not for her.” then abruptly grabbed the cat and moved her away from us. She was probably happy someone was playing with her for once. Then was looking at the kittens (locked up in cages) at the back and another guy said not to touch them. I said “why, does she have a disease?” He said it’s because they don’t want her to get a disease, as if I had one to pass onto her. So extremely rude and completely unwelcoming.

DO NOT waste your money with fish from that store, they sell their ill fish knowingly. I bought fish there twice, first batch was infected with White Tail Disease (Mollys); the second batch, a couple months later (Platys), all had ICH. I returned to the store to look carefully at the fish they were selling and saw that they were treating them for Ich in the same tank they were still selling their fish from, the fish tank water was blue with chemicals to fight Ich. Quite frankly, to whoever runs this store: you should be closed down for doing that.

This groomer service is unprofessional. My maltipoo was very badly cut from the inside of her thigh with the razor. When I picked up my dog, she was covered in blood stains all over her body and the groomer told me it was nothing and she put surgical glue (for a cut of 2.5 inches). My dog was in pain the day after and the skin fell off since she needed stitches. I went to the emergency and it cost me over $1000 which the owner never agreed to pay, saying there was no negligence from their part and I should’ve come back to them before the vet.

Such a disappointment, I got my cat from here. And back then they had a gorgeous aquarium setup, it was spacious, the staff were helpful. Now, the guy didn't look up from whatever he was doing behind the register when we were greeted. Didn't offer any kind of help. Anybody else who was working was up in some kind of office chatting away. The only cats they had are Highland Lynx, $2,999.99 a piece. Which is probably what pays the bills, as selection of anything else is minimal, and overpriced.

As per a recent CTV News piece, the chain is currently suing the city for the "right" to sell animals from mills instead of shelters. Fheor lawyer is claiming that shelters in the city can't meet the demand for animals. In the middle of puppy and kitten season. When they're literally giving animals away through no fee adoptions to free up space. What a disgusting position for a pet store to take. Guess I'm shopping elsewhere from now on, somewhere that doesn't support animal abuse for profit.

Both Ladies were very nice but there was one `[small pet] cage out of ten in the box. Which is really not convenient since : 1. Plastic habitat aren't made to disassemble more than once or twice. 2. There's no guarantee that the door hasn't been open 300 times.(And for rodent/ small pets, this feature is crucial. 3. The cage is half my size...(5.6")...(Height AND Length).Who you care to explain me how am I suppose to bring that in the bus?

I brought my cat to be groomed today and they did an EXCELLENT job! I used to bring her to the vet down the street, but they don't have a groomer anymore. The groomer at Animal Expert today did a better job than at that vet. Much more reasonable price and very quick! My kitty seems very happy too. 11/10 definitely recommend! Will be coming back for all her grooming! Thanks so much!

When it comes to grooming, avoid this place at all times if you have a dog a fluffy dog. They are great at shaving dogs all the way down to their skin. My Pomski who is very fluffy came out fully shaved, even though I showed them exactly what I wanted. they even shaved off one of his whiskers. It took my dog's hair 3 months to grow back and still doesn't feel or look the same.

I couldn't get the fish I wanted because half their tanks were unclean and the woman that worked there told me all the fish were sick... I settled for other fish and they were also sick and didn't last long. The betta fish bowls were literally black. I'm not sure about their things for other pets, but definitely don't go here for fish related things.

Honestly, the worst service! It’s convenient and close to my place but the service is horrible, specially when it comes to grooming! They always change the prices and they never respect the appointments! Plus when you call them, they are super rude over the phone! I rather drive or take a taxi than buying there or bringing my dog there ever again.

It has enough supplies it just felt so disorganized, didn't know codes for certain products when I ask for a medallion, they didn't know where they were...I mean you have live animals in the back I expect way more organisation and just more professional. Felt sloppy when I went on the weekend. So go there for your supplies and nothing else

Giving 2 instead of 1 because at least they have the cat food i always buy (Acana) But if you do not want customers to pet your store cat due to COVID reason, just dont let him wandering around the store. Especially not freaking out because i love the cat. It says do not touch animals that are caged. But that cat isnt so chill out missy.

Good pet shop in the neighborhood, decent price and selection for a shop close to downtown, convenient to have a groomer there; remember it used to be even greater with good aquariums and live animals set up, now not much live animals (City bylaws) and the aisle feel a bit crammed; overall still a decent store at a convenient location

Popped in super quick to pick up some digestive support pellets for our rabbit. The staff was friendly and helpful, and even saved us a bit on our purchase by notifying us about a coupon! Good selection of toys and treats for small pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, etc) that we haven't seen at some of the bigger chains in Montreal.

He never smiled , said hi nothing as if my business was not wanted plus i think he was watching me on security camera as when i came to the cash he quickly minimized the video on screen. Did not feel good after shopping here felt like i was a thief or not wanted. Frankly would avoid it if you are a person of color.

Sold me a 2013 dog license tag in 2016 and refused to issue a refund or correct the situation when I realized their mistake in the same week. They also sell animals, like purebred cats that I can only assume come from questionable sources, for premium prices. Really not a business I would support.

The worse place ever they let me wait 6h at home for my delivery and they never come the service is really bad I call two time during the day to make my order and they were rude to me saying I need to be at he for 3pm and wait until 9pm to hear them say we didn't delivery …

Don't buy animals from pet stores! Not only do they come from puppy mills (and other mills), but their conditions are horrible and the chance of them having some disease is pretty high! Take note, mills are filthy disgusting, the animals are born in poop and so on.

Big variety and options, good prices and friendly staff. Almo Nature complete is my cat's favorite and it's been hard to find lately. I called this store and they confirmed they have around 8 different flavors ( I thought there was only 4). I recommend this place

I don't bring my dog or cat to this place for grooming and I do not buy animals there so I can't speak to that, but they do have a massive selection of cat/dog food brands that isnt readily available in the area. Other then that they are just not friendly people.

Pretty nice pet shop, dose not smell like a typical pet store so cages must be cleaned regularly. The beta fish are well taken care of here as well, that's always a good sign. Has a nice selection of fish supplies. But staff seem miserable, perhaps overworked?

If this was a review from my cat it's 1 star. We usually have a hard time cutting his nail ourselves but the nail clipper does it so well, quick and easy.
