I recently had the opportunity to visit the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans, and I must say, it was an incredible experience that exceeded all my expectations. This world-class aquarium offers a captivating journey through diverse aquatic ecosystems, showcasing an impressive array of marine life and providing educational and entertaining exhibits for visitors of all ages. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted by a visually stunning and immersive environment. The aquarium's layout is well-designed, allowing for a seamless exploration of the various exhibits. The exhibits themselves are thoughtfully curated, representing marine habitats from around the globe. Whether you're fascinated by the vibrant coral reefs, mesmerized by the graceful movements of sea turtles, or intrigued by the mysteries of the deep sea, the Audubon Aquarium has something to captivate every visitor. One of the highlights of my visit was the Great Maya Reef exhibit. It truly felt like diving into a tropical paradise, with its vibrant corals, colorful fish, and even a majestic sea turtle gracefully gliding by. The aquarium's dedication to conservation and education is evident throughout, with informative signage and knowledgeable staff members available to answer questions and share interesting facts about the marine life. The touch tanks and interactive exhibits were a particular hit with children and adults alike. Being able to touch a stingray or starfish added an extra level of excitement and hands-on learning. The staff members overseeing these areas were patient and enthusiastic, ensuring that everyone had a safe and enjoyable experience while fostering a greater understanding and appreciation for these incredible creatures. The Audubon Aquarium also offers a variety of daily shows and presentations, including animal feedings and educational talks. I highly recommend checking the schedule upon arrival to plan your visit around these informative and entertaining sessions. The presentations are well-executed, engaging, and provide an opportunity to witness the aquarium's dedicated staff members in action as they care for and interact with the animals. In addition to the captivating exhibits, the aquarium boasts excellent amenities. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, with plenty of seating areas and restrooms conveniently located throughout the venue. The gift shop offers a wide range of souvenirs, educational materials, and marine-themed merchandise to bring a piece of the experience home with you. Overall, my visit to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas was a truly memorable one. From the beautiful and diverse marine life to the informative and interactive exhibits, every aspect of the aquarium is thoughtfully designed to engage, educate, and inspire visitors of all ages. If you find yourself in New Orleans, I highly recommend adding this incredible attraction to your itinerary. It's a fantastic destination for families, animal lovers, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding and connection with the wonders of the underwater world.

If you get tickets online you can easily walk in and they just scan the barcode and then youre in! I got the ticket Combo: Aquarium + Insectarium + Zoo for $120 (128.34 with taxes) for 2 adults. The insectarium was very kid/family oriented but they have a butterfly room in which i enjoyed. The Aquarium and zoo made up for it. The Aquarium was FUN! you can touch stingrays. And they have a HUGE turtle and quite a few sharks. I didnt expect to see any of those! Oh and baby gators. Oh my. And the zoo was a lot of fun too! Very big and they have so many different sections! Be sure to hit all of them! And they also have a water park you can pay for to swim at. I didnt know that until I showed up. So that was new to me. Overall worth it! The aquarium and insectarium are in the same building. The zoo is a 20 minute drive away or less. I paid for parking for about 3 hours max by the Aquarium and then left for the zoo after the Aquarium and insectarium adventure.

Pleasantly surprised by this small aquarium. They also have insectarium you can buy tickets to as well but we opted not to do that part. There is huge sea turtle and big sharks. So many smaller aquariums with many species. There is a rainforest section. There is macaw, toucan, sloth, just to mention a few. There's a white Alligator that has blue eyes. Wide varieties of sea creatures. It's not long to look at everything but enough to keep kids entertained. There is a pool where you can touch stingrays. There is a aquarium tunnel you can walk through and see the fish swim above and around you. There is plenty of staff all around to ask questions and get info on the aquariums and their inhabitants. The gift shop didn't have any educational or activity things which was a disappointment but I get it, most people are attracted to stuffed and shirts. We wanted to get a magnet but none of them had new Orleans on them so we passed.

I’ve come to this aquarium for years and decided to visit now that it has been remodeled. I was very disappointed and do not see my self returning until more things come back. There was no information or barely any information other than simple names on many of the fish, animals and plants. If there was any information it was on conservation efforts on a single plaque at the end of the exhibit hidden away on the side. Many animals were gone including the seas otters. The only exhibit that felt complete was the rainforest but that is a shell of what it used to be. To see macaws is an extra paid experience. I’m not against extra paid special events but it just seems a bit over kill with the lack of things to look at. For almost 40$ this was okay. I would like to see more renovations sooner before I return

The lady at the door who let's you in.. Mrs. DEBBIE which I had to ask for her name quietly to not make a scene like she did to me.. EMABARRASSED ME IN FRONT OF A HUNDRED STRANGERS. MY FAMILY HAD TO WAIT FOR ME TO PUT ON A tee shirt over my outfit. She held the door up and watched me. I have the date and time and the incident can be found on camera. What she did was discriminate. I was wearing a complete outfit made to comfortably walk around in by Nike. I had a long sleeve shirt in 1008 degree weather shirt tied around my waist as well. This lady allowed girls to wear far less than me. Overall they had a shooting which stopped us from attending at the time we had arrived. The auditorium was Way over populated for the animals. And the insectarium was actually pretty amazing as well as if you can try a bug or not they are picky about who gets a free sample.

  • lila103m

We went to both the insectarium and the aquarium. It was very expensive. $35 for each exhibit or $50 for both exhibits per adult. It was over $100 just to get in for 2 adults. It's $30 between the ages of two and 12. Under the age of 2 it's free. So if you're wondering, anyone over the age 12 has to pay adult prices also. I would suggest just go for the enjoyment and experience and bundle the exhibits, it's a little cheaper. We got to see everything and we took our time, which took about an hour and a half. Once you exit each exhibit, you have to walk through the gift shops and yes they are expensive. We checked out the eating area/menu and decided we would wait. All in all it was a nice experience, we're just wondering would we do it again, that is the question ⁉️

We were so excited to visit the aquarium after their multimillion dollar renovation, but we’re not blown away by any means. We were able to walk through the entire place in under an hour. I’m addition, there were animals missing from some of the exhibits (specifically the sloths/armadillos). This was especially disappointing because it was an encounter area. Apart from that, the tickets were $35 each, which is extremely pricey. The otters were recently re-homed to an aquarium in California, so there was strictly only fish and other marine life (in addition to some birds and one gator). Ultimately, our group was disappointed and we expected much more. However, it’s still a cool place and I’m sure young kiddos would love it.

First off ..for the amount of the amount of money $35 adult and $10 hr parking I was really disappointed with my experience at this aquarium. Second note ...this place is small in size . covered the whole thing in less then 45 mins and would have been done sooner if I had not stopped and watched the feeding of the birds it would have been 35mins. I felt sorry for the fish in those small tanks...this was not was not planned well you look at the same tanks with diff views..and most of then just look to small for the amount of fish that's in the tanks. The staff was very friendly and nice that's the best about the whole experience ..and please if you touch the stingrays ..use the 2 finger ✌️ method ...or she will get you

Decided to come here as a treat to my inner child and enjoyed myself! The aquarium was easy to find and within walking distance from my hotel. I arrived around 130PM and paid $35 for a single entry ticket. You enter the aquarium on the second floor and there’s so many different creatures to see! My favorite were the penguins and watching them get fed was a sweet treat. I also enjoyed seeing the many fishes, turtles, and jellyfish! The aquarium wasn’t overly packed at time I went and wish I could’ve stopped to see the insects as well. You’ll have the opportunity to purchase your photo that was initially taken (which is a little pricey) and exit through the gift shop. Overall, it was sweet experience!

We toured the aquarium due to very hot temperatures and forcasted rain. We started in the morning and spent over half the day. You tour at your own pace and it was not crowded at all. As we were checking out the huge fish tank the staff told us feeding time was due in 1 hour if we wanted to watch. We finished the walking tour and returned to watch the feeding which was very interesting. All kids would love the tunnel under the aquarium where you can see all the fish above you. Also you can pet the stingrays in one area which was very fascinating. Everything was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The snack bar was a welcome stop too.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We appreciated the employees sitting and talking to us about the insects. It was well laid out. My sons enjoyed the "Make Your Own Bugs" and the butterfly room. It being merged with the aquarium is nice. However, the price of $110.00, for 1 adult, 1 teenager, and 2 children, is really high. For what we saw and the amount of exhibits and insects, it was not worth the price of admission. Hopefully, they will increase the number of exhibits and insects. They need to update the photos on Google Maps to reflect what is really there. The reason for 4 stars is for the exhibits. The staff and lay out get 5 stars.

I see this aquarium is being updated. Not sure how it could get better… we loved our visit here. We found activities that would be fun for teenagers and us adults that are young at heart! Our kids had a great time. The otters were hilarious. I love anything ocean related. One daughter made friends with a huge grouper (I think) that followed her around. She finally just sat down next to it. It was hilarious. Can’t wait to come back and see the new renovations as I’m already giving it 5 stars. Friendly staff and knowledgeable. Thank y’all for a great visit!

While in town for a few days we decided to kill time and go to the aquarium. They had the aquarium part and insectatium side as well. I will tell you it's overpriced for the whole thing but anyways I did see some animals I haven't seen before at other aquariums. The place was too crowded and how they had it set up was way too many people on top of each other. They did have the touch the stingray part which was cool even though some people didn't respect the workers when they said use two fingers. The insectatium side was more so for children and informative on a lot of bugs. Overall it was something to do while in town wouldn't go back though.

The Audubon Aquarium (and Insectarium) is a wonderful tourist attraction in the heart of NOLA. It was a wonderful and educational experience to share with the family. It took us a total of 2 hours to get through both the Aquarium and Insectarium. Would recommend buying tickets online in advanced because it’s cheaper and the lines to buy tickets inside are always long. We loved the interaction with the Manta rays and sharks as well. Overall we had a great experience here and will definitely be visiting again soon.

Umm guys I dont know how fast you were running through that thing 30 mins is crazy??? . My family and I took about two hours. Although it is a little small it’s worth it. Me and my three children, 18, 15, and 10 years all enjoyed it. The exhibits were very cute and all the animals seemed well adjusted. They even had a little drawing center where kids can go online or use ipads they provide and draw their own fish. If anyone is looking for something to take the family or even just by yourself this is definitely a cute the place to go.

You can tell they put a lot of thought into the renovations that happened at the aquarium. The Insectarium is SO cool. They have a virtual reality area where it feels like you’re feeding sharks, which is awesome. It does cost money, but I can’t remember exactly how much. Also, they have a little play area for kids which was awesome so my husband and I could relax for a minute and get a snack while our kiddo played. Our toddler loved the entire place & we will definitely be going back soon.

It was a little expensive but was a good overall experience. Very nice presentation of the animals, aquatic, avian, ND a random sloth. It was nice to see the caretakers interact with the animals and feed them and swim amongst them. There is also a separate part of the building, dealing with insect life, but that is also another $30 per person, and I did not do that part of the building due to lack of interest and time restraints. Overall, I spent about 1 hour in the aquarium.

Absolutely the best place ever!!! A couple of the areas were closed for improvement, but that was a very small portion of this HUGE and powerful place! Whether you are there to play with penguins, "pet" the sting ray's, look at birds from afar, or see all the different sea life... you won't be short of visual happiness! From turtles, to sharks, and neon fish in between... Gators, snakes, and jellyfish are seen!! Parking was not a far walk (35 for 5 hours is steep, but doable). If you are local don't forget to be a tourist in your city once in a while, it's magical.

  • Andrew Pierre

Just went after the renovation. It's very nice. The stingray/shark exhibit was fun, and there were other exhibits where you could touch animals, the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, tobacco worm and beetle. The butterfly garden was nice. There was lots to do betwwen the aquarium and insectarium. It is a bit pricey and you need a separate ticket for each the aquarium and insectarium.

Great location, clean, no wait. Parked where the sign for aquarium parking was but they didn't validate that parking lot. Hotel had coupons for $3 off each adult but the aquarium Saud they stopped taking them a long time ago. For our inconvenience of coupons and parking issues we were given guest passes for the insect exhibit. Both exhibits were very nice. I liked the butterflies and the water tunnel.

Love the Aquarium!!! Been to it several times but this was my boyfriend’s first time and we had so much fun. Even though I feel like it’s gotten less aquatic animals to see. Recommend for a family trip anytime of the year!!!! PUDATE AFTER THE NEW REMODULATION- The place looks AMAZIN!!! They have really done a great job on making the place feel welcome for humans and animals alike. Definitely an experience you don’t want to miss an a must see if you visit New Orleans.

Was happy to see this back open! This was relaxing and nice to see. It doesn't take long to walk through as it wasn't crowded at all when we went, which was during the week. Not sure what the weekend traffic looks like.. Kiddos will enjoy it. Try to interact with the stingrays, that was pretty cool... watch out.. you may or may not get splashed ☺️!

This is a great aquarium! (Recently redone) I love that it has a ton of stuff to see but not too much that you feel overwhelmed and like you're missing things. It's a straight show and if you follow the path you get to see everything. My kids loved petting the rays and seeing the penguins and the otters. Also, if you're in New Orleans in the summer, this is the perfect activity to beat the eat. I wish we had known you can buy a combo pack with the insectarium

  • April L. Butler

Love that they combined the locations of the insectarium and aquarium, much easier for people with kiddos! We enjoyed getting to see the wide variety of sea creatures in various settings and tanks. We even got to pet sting rays! I was a bit disappointed that the bird feeding was moved, but it's been many years since I had been last.

Nice aquarium on the banks of the Mississippi in the French Quarter. Definitely worth a visit. We spent all our time in the aquarium, although they have an insectarium too. Small aquarium that has room to expand. There are opportunities for adding activities and learning for kids or the adult kid. The exhibits are good and clean, but it does seem as if some of the animals/fish are labeled to be in an exhibit but show up in a later exhibit. Anyrate, it's a great place to get out of any weather and learn a little about aquatic life.

This is a great aquarium! It took us about an hour and a half to get through it. We loved the penguins, as we got to watch and listen to the very knowledgeable staff during feeding time. We enjoyed being able to touch the stingrays. The sharks tank as well as the jellyfish were very interesting and impressive. We didn’t get anything from the food court but heard it was expensive. If you’re visiting NOLA, I would recommend visiting this aquarium.

  • Emilie Travels

Overall we enjoyed the aquarium. I was a big fan of the indoor plant observatory. The sea creatures were really cool to see - you can walk up and pet sting rays. I wish there was a shallower part of the tank so you wouldn't have to stick you whole arm in the water. The food stand was super expensive - I wouldn't plan on purchasing food there if I were you. The location outside was very pretty - right on the river. Gives off a great breeze.

  • Kevin Maloy

Nice aquarium. Not very large. It can be done in less than an hour if you're not careful. But there are some very neat enclosures. It does a great job of showing local ecosystems and aquatic species. Things you probably won't find at many other aquariums. Very well designed in that you won't have to wonder if you saw everything. Pretty much just follows a path over two levels and as you walk through there's nothing you'll struggle to see.

  • Wendy Firestone

Not the biggest and best aquarium in the world, but so cool to have this in NOLA. They have a good collection and you can get an add-on ticket to see the Insectarium, which is also very cool. A bit pricey, but I imagine it costs a lot to take care of all of those creatures. A wonderful place to spend a hot afternoon!

Some changes such as the inclusion of a toddler play place are nice additions. We were sad to see the otters go as well as the seahorses and several frogs. It's also really sad to see that the tree walk has been removed. That element was our kids favorite part. I understand it's probably so that more birds could be added but it is still disappointing nonetheless.

The facality needs a more modern and interactive approach to stimulate learning and enhance the overall experience. Additionally, the space is very limited so if there's a crowd, then viewing times are very limited or you'll just bypass all together and avoid the wait.

The aquarium itself was pretty good, the exhibits as well as some of the informative boards, technology discussing the animals. I thought $32 for an adult was steep and there were three of us. Since it was veterans appreciation week I got in free and others 50% off so that was good. Don't go there hungry as it took some time to get food from the snack bar, not well organized.

The new aquarium is amazing! I love the combined insectarium, my 3yo loved all the big bug exhibits. I really loved the new butterfly garden. I'm absolutely IN LOVE with the new aquarium/insectarium. I especially loved the insect-infused confections! The staff was amazing in helping to accommodate a special needs child, and staff was very knowledgeable about "quiet zones" for kids with sensory issues. Shout-out to the brilliant indigo Macaw in the Amazon exhibit!

The aquarium is on the smaller side but nicely laid out and well maintained. Shouldn't need more than an hour to see everything. Price is a little high for the size of it but it supports the Audubon.

This is one of the best aquariums I've been to. They have so many exhibits. There is a sting ray exhibit where you can pet them. We also got to see the penguins fed, which was pretty entertaining.

Amazing day. A little packed, but plenty to see. They've merged the insectarium with the aquarium. Price is excellent. I paid around $60 for everything (aquarium, insectarium, and zoo).

Buying tickets online is definitely cheaper by line $5!! Plus you don’t have to wait in line. They offer to take you a photo at the entrance. It was pretty crowded but we looked through all the exhibits and it’s was so interesting. When looking at the stingrays the young man was so kind and helpful.

This is an amazing aquarium. Has a huge tank looking like an ocean beneath you with big sharks and fish. No wait when getting tickets. A full tour is about an hour.

I love the aquarium this is my favorite place to be update it's not aquarium and insectium but they are both separate and must pay for each you can rush and go through them in an hour or if you enjoy animals and can spend just a min or to at each exhibit it will last a couple of hours

I had a great time at the Audubon Aquarium. Its not as big as the GA Aquarium but there is still plenty to do and see there. You are sure to have a good time going as a family outing or even alone.

There benefit of this aquarium is the awesome insectarium that is attached. Two adults for both attractions came up to almost $105. Parking isn’t free, nor associated with the aquarium.

The Aquarium just reopened and its very nice. There's a lot to see but it is very small. The Alligator is really cool! There are penguins and this cute little owl poses for pictures.

My expectations were far surpassed during my visit. The animals are very well taken care of, and my favorite other than the penguins was the tunnel. A trip back to New Orleans would be worth it just to visit again

As far as aquariums go, it was small. I think it used to be bigger. Also figuring out how to get into the place was a bit difficult. There was no food places. We may have liked it better had we gotten the insectatarium too. I don't think we will go again tho.

Beautiful and well laid out. We went on a Saturday and it was busy but not overcrowded. Quite a few closed exhibits but still a very nice aquarium. Parking was hard to find and took a bit of a walk to get to the aquarium but all in all a great experience.

We enjoyed the AC as we escaped the hot, humid New Orleans weather. The kids enjoyed looking at all of the exhibits. It is easier and quicker to buy the tickets online than waiting to get them there. On the weekend, it was crowded, but not too packed.

Excellent venue. Enjoyed the aquarium for the types of animals available and I was there when they fed the sharks, nice. Several different attractions to enjoy.

It was a great experience. The biggest issue you will have is how quick you will move throughout; it was over rather quickly...I would say take as much time as you can through each station, but very hard when extremely packed More
