As you approach Jackson Square, the St. Louis Cathedral is an eye catcher with its Gothic Revival architecture. It has three towering spires, each topped with ironwork and statues. The square itself is alive with activity. Street performers, artists, and fortune tellers line the paths, adding a vibrant and eclectic touch. Musicians fill the air with the soulful sounds of jazz, while locals and tourists alike stroll through the square or take a break on the iconic green benches. In the background, the Mississippi River flows steadily, a reminder of the city's vital connection to waterborne trade. Together, the cathedral, the square, and its surroundings create a captivating snapshot of New Orleans' rich cultural heritage and lively atmosphere, making it a must-visit destination for any traveler.

Stunningly beautiful place with massive photo opportunities. I really felt that this and only a few others held the charm I was attempting to experience while visiting New Orleans. The nearby area with its numerous vendors and over priced junk shops was truly reminiscent of visiting a third world toilet. The homeless/un-sheltered problem seemed to be magnified here and aggressive panhandling was clearly excessively out of control. While I would recommend a visit, it is not a place I would take kids to nor would I consider visiting if you don't handle confrontation well. It's a historic rose garden that been allowed to slip into a modern day stink weed patch.

Jackson Square, nestled in the heart of New Orleans' historic French Quarter, is a testament to the city's rich cultural and historical heritage. This iconic landmark, flanked by the majestic St. Louis Cathedral, offers a window into the past with its vibrant street artists, musicians, and picturesque landscapes. It's a place where history is palpable, from the colonial-era buildings to the bustling open-air artist colony. Visitors are transported back in time, experiencing the blend of French, Spanish, and American influences that make New Orleans unique. Jackson Square remains a beloved destination for both its historical significance and its enduring charm.
Surrounded by historic buildings and homes this place is a great place to relax. Nested between the famous bourbon st and the French market this place offers a great escape from the sensory overload that is New Orleans. This is a great place to relax and take some amazing photos. We sat on the grass and just enjoyed the beautiful weather before heading to the French market for lunch! Surrounded by local vendors, musicians and artists this place truly captures the essence and beauty of New Orleans

The historic Jackson Square Park is an absolute gem in NOLA! Nestled along the Mississippi River, it offers a breathtaking view of the iconic St. Louis Cathedral and the Andrew Jackson Equestrian Statue. This place oozes history, having graced the screens of numerous movies and dramas. The park's charm is amplified by its iron fences, walkways, and cozy benches. It is an artistic haven with vibrant open-air events and shows hosted in front of the park. During my visit, I was captivated by talented musicians serenading the crowd. A must-visit spot to soak in NOLA's essence!
Beautiful historical space in front of St. Louis cathedral. While it’s great to come here for the local artists (and no, they definitely don’t hassle you), it’s also worth coming here in the early morning when it’s empty and quiet except for the faint sound of the band playing outside Cafe Du Monde. Grab your beignet there from the to-go order line around 8am and then take it to the park, sit on the bench and enjoy the atmosphere.

Jackson Square is an obvious New Orleans tourist staple. It is central to what the French Quarter is. It is a great spot for people watching, hearing live music, big events, drinking, shopping, and of course FOOD!! Bring the family, or go it alone. Stroll over to the river walk while you are there, to see cruise ships and more on the river! It’s SUPER picturesque so take lots of photos!!

Beautiful landmark. I would advise that there are a lot of homeless, panhandle, and hustlers in this area. However, they seemed to be harmless and not bothering much if you just keep your eyes ahead and don't interact with them. This is not IN the park, but you will have to go through the area where they are in order to get in. It would be a perfect place to take wedding photos.

Peaceful park square in the heart of the French Quarter. The only downside is how early it closes, but it's a great spot for a walk or hang out. It's lively around the outside edges as well with artists and performers set up. It's limited to pedestrian traffic on three of the sides. Definitely a must stop spot while in the area. Adjacent to many other popular and famous locations.

This is the best area to park for downtown. You are central to Bourbon Street, French Market, and can access the bus or horse draw tours from here as well. This is a lovely place to experience music, food, and just enjoy the sites. The cathedral is right there and has air conditioning.

It's a nice looking park. For a city with a lacking amount of green space, this is a nice change of pace. It's small, and doesn't have much in it. What it does have is the annoying locals trying to hustle you out of money. Keep an eye out for those idiots.

This area is booming with business and attractions, also historical sites. But please be careful in the traffic especially if you have children. There places to eat, buy shoes and live art. Cafe du monde is in this area and they have the famous beignets.

Great area to visit. Cathedral in the background, surrounded by older buildings and artists of all kinds. We spent about an hour walking around and decided to support a local artist by buying a painting. Definitely worth visiting if you are in NO.
If you come to New Orleans, this is a short walk from Bourbon Street. It's located in a beautiful spot on the Mighty Mississippi River. Stroll through the park on a lovely day. It's a wonderful church, lots of historical significance. More
Really cool area. Loved seeing all the local artists displaying some of their pieces all for sale. We enjoyed a carriage tour of the French Quarters. Ask for Adrian and his mule Elvis. He did fantastic! Whole family had a lot of fun! More
I was in New Orleans for the Essence Festival 4th of July weekend. Clean & relaxing. Plenty of benches to sit quietly by self or to congregate with family & friends. I sat there listening to a great street performer. It a free park. More
Bustling, lively square full of color and music. Love the views, the street performers and art at this historic French Quarter destination. There is a public parking lot just across Decatur Street, by the river, if you are driving here.
Jackson Square in New Orleans is a captivating destination that blends history, culture, and vibrant energy. This historic square, adorned by the magnificent St. Louis Cathedral, embodies the city's resilience. Charming boutiques, art
This is an iconic Park in New Orleans and a must visit for anyone stopping by. Local artists will line the fences around the park. You can stop to watch them creating and if you find one you like purchase them right off the fence.
Beautiful, well kept, bit of history. Great gardens. The fencing was great and the trees.....just fantastic. There's a bit of history for sure and it's a relaxing spot to step away from the "tourist" traffic.
Iconic stop. You haven’t been to New Orleans’s French Quarter unless you include this site. World renown image with St. Louis cathedral in the background & the Mississippi River behind you.
Great place to spend the evening , love the fresh arts and several arts galleries across the footpaths. Loads of authentic NOLA foods around this area with plenty of local pubs and jazz…
Super busy place. You will see all sort of people here. Grab a coffee and do some people watch. Many street performers so make sure to bring dollar bills to tip More
Great area to people watch, get some art, listen to the buskers, get something to eat, and enjoy the architecture of the surrounding buildings. More
Great outdoor venue in New Orleans. Plan to spend some time here with kids and family. They have some events happening all round the park.
