I have taken my car to Austin's automotive specialist a few times. First time was for an AC issue. Another shop said I needed a whole new system for $2500 (stay away from Christian Brothers). Automotive specialist fixed the froblem for around $350. I had them look at a 4wd issue. They told me everything looked fine. And it was. I see that they are an honest shop. I go back with an oil leak. They are unable to diagnose. So we do an oil pan gasket for $800. This doesn't fix my leak. I go back and have them change the rear main seal. They wanted to charge $140 for a part that I can get for $57. The exact same GM part they would have ordered. They were closer on price on all of the other parts. So I let them get the remaining parts. I drop my car off 7:30 am Monday before Thanksgiving. They don't start on my car till Tuesday afternoon. Putting me without a car till Friday evening. After I pay my bill I notice that one part has jumped up $40 compaired to the quote. Transmission fluid jumped $40. And there is an extra part for $20 that was not included on the quote. I was feeling after this many fumbles. They should give me a small break. I do feel bad for screaming at the front desk guys. And demanding $100 back. For that I apologize. I would not have been as mad if they would have told me Monday morning that they won't get to it that day. If they would have told me by supplying my own GM part they will void the warranty on the job. If they would have gone over the quote vs bill and explained why these things changed. After talking to the guy I no longer feel they were just sticking it to me over buying one of my own parts. Things happen after you start a job and mistakes happen. I feel there was failure from lack of communication. Even after all that. I still think they are honest and do good work. I would go back. But he told me not to. I still give 4 stars. They lose a star for lack of communication. Still probably one of the most honest shops in town. Wish I hadn't gotten myself banned hahaha.

The place I usually take my car to was all booked up and I'm about to go on a very long trip so I brought it here for an oil change. That seemed fine enough but when I drove my car home, it started making a strange rattling sound. I brought it back and even drove them around to show them the sound. Half a day later, they called me and said the heat shield was loose but that they fixed it up and that I could come get the car. Thrilled they figured out the problem, I came to get my car. Driving it a short distance home, it still made the same sound. I brought it back the next morning and they said they'd need a few days to figure out the problem. I left it there for a day and came back the next morning to check on the progress. They said they couldn't figure it out. Frustrated, I left with my car still making the rattling noise and brought it to a transmission specialist to see if it was a transmission problem. Within a few hours, the transmission place called me and said there was no problem with the transmission and that the rattling sound was due to the heat shield. Skeptical (because that's the problem Austin Automotive told me it was), I came to pick up my car. Miraculously, the rattling sound was gone! I have to give this 3 stars because I was worried out of my mind for a few days wondering if the problem could be bigger than what it actually was and the car didn't make any noises before I dropped it off. It is strange they were able to diagnose the sound and told me they fixed it but it wasn't fixed at all and I had to bring it to another place for them to tell me, within a much shorter amount of time, that it was the heat shield and for them to fix it for me. I don't think I'd come back.

I would like to update my review experience. So far the service provided has met my expectations. The process of repairing the cooling issue has moved forward to completing the repair as needed. The front counter service representatives have been informative and provided the highest level of customer service. My vehicle issue is not an easy issue to resolve but with time and skilled service my A/C has been resolved. Just in time for our record breaking heat summer into fall of 2022. Forward 5 months I noticed a mystery oil leak one morning. I called to schedule for Andy, my service representative contact to have a look. He suggested a time to drop off vehicle to have the vehicle lifted for inspection of the under carriage. The problem was a loose oil filter. The vehicle was due for an oil change and had my car vehicle back in a matter of hours. I have to say I am so grateful for having found and used Austin Automotive Specialist for my automotive services this summer. Thank you one and all at Austin Automotive Specialist !!!

I have never been disappointed by AAS on William Cannon. I keep coming to them even though other businesses/locations are closer to me because of their amazing service. They are super busy because they’re so good but they always are able to accommodate me. I would recommend planning ahead for your regular maintenance services. Fitting in at the last minute is a big ask for any super busy, high volume shop! The guy that runs this location, Andy, has such a calm, comforting energy. He seems to shoot people straight and treat the clients like friends/family. It makes me feel like I’ve entrusted my vehicle to people that care about its well-being and mine too! They retain a loyal customer base for good reason. And everyone that walks through the door greets him and the staff there like they’ve known each other for years—if that’s not a sign of a value/client focused business…I don’t know what is.

I’ve been having issues with a truck I just recently bought from a used car dealership who “pride themselves on knowing trucks and selling only the best quality trucks” but apparently the truck I bought was not in that category. I knew something was off and wanted an expert opinion with honest intentions. The guys here are incredible. They walked me through what they found and what my best options are with moving forward in terms of repairs. They didn’t try to upswell me or steer me in the wrong direction. Ultimately I will have to have a full engine replacement which they are unable to do and instead recommended me to some great engine repair shops. At the time of pickup, they didn’t charge me for the inspection and I found that to be very incredible and honest. This shop runs with pride and integrity. I will absolutely be coming back for any repairs I may need on my other vehicle.

Only discrepancy I have was I was told it would cost $75 for diagnostics over the phone then when I get there they told me it was going to be $160. Other than that Andy and Wes were very professional and accommodating. Also no on called but I did receive a text I almost missed bc I fell asleep luckily I woke up before 5:00pm and touched base with Wes who sent me a link to pay my bill over the phone. The invoice wasn’t itemized and just shows a total which was slightly annoying. Other than that I paid my bill and he left my key out for me to get into my car. Pretty straight forward and they even let bring my truck back to them after the part came in without billing me for diagnostics. Very accommodating and honest. Glad you guys fixed my AC in this weather I really appreciate it. Highly recommend them and would definitely be bringing my vehicles back here. Thanks Austin Automotive!

Dan is extremely kind and accommodating when you call to schedule an appointment. Asks many questions to best understand what our need was for service. Thoroughly explained what the diagnostic process found and what the sequence of events would be to do repairs. First time ever I have received photos of my car and the simple break down by category for service. Seriously impressed ! Found them on a Google search and understand now why they have been rated so high. A completely pleasant auto repair experience; I know, that sounds like an oxymoron but it’s NOT. I’m not from Texas so I trusted reviews. It’s a pleasure to experience great customer service in a time when most businesses have forgotten that is the first product they sell BEFORE the service of their specific trade! Welcome to kindness and accommodation with these guys! Definitely recommend!

Highly Recommend! As someone who generally doesn’t trust mechanics, I can honestly say my first visit at Austin’s Automotive Specialists located on 1417 W William Cannon DR, was the best experience I’ve had. Every service they recommended came with pictures of the vehicle part(s) needing attention along with an easy explanation. More than helping me with replacing brake pads & rotors, they helped me create a list of other maintenance needed to revive my old truck after sitting for years, and included price/quotes to help me budget (if needed) as I work toward completing these services over time. The sincerity and professionalism standard set at this location elevates them from the rest, and is the reason they have earned my business now, and for all my future vehicle service needs.

I just love these guys. Have taken both our cars to them in the last six months. The first time, they had a diagnosis within 24 hours and they found the cheapest solution that would get me up and running while letting me know what to keep an eye on. The second one was a question if battery and alternator, and they quickly helped me sort out which it was over the phone, had me bring it in for immediate help, told me I was still within warranty on the battery that had failed and I could likely get a free one at the dealership, then helped me immediately to get back up and running when I opted to get a battery through them anyway. Extremely knowledgeable, not shady at all, and aware/interested in making my experience as easy and affordable as possible.

I will recommend this auto shop to anyone and everyone. Andy is amazing and incredibly helpful, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I felt so comfortable when I took my car in to see why it was shaking as bad as it was. He reassured me by answering all of my questions and giving me some information regarding other thinks that might be wrong with my car. I left my car at the shop for a full diagnostic and within the same day Andy called me and told me the problem was only a bad tire. My husband and I went to go pick it up and Andy handed me my key and said I was good to go, no charge or anything. I was amazed and felt so grateful. I will be coming here for any future maintenance my car might need. Thank you guys so much!

My engine light went on due to it misfiring. Decided to take it to the official Kia dealership and let them know it was probably spark plugs/engine coil. The guy told me it would be 200 dollars to diagnose, and another 2 weeks to get it repaired. Would've easily cost me 1000 dollars for a simple repair. Made a call to Austin Automotive and spoke with Andy. First of all, he was extremely understanding, not condescending, and explained the steps i should take. Took it to the shop that morning and was in and out that same day. Saved me a TON compared to the dealership, and all the staff was professional, and just nice. I will only ever go back to this shop, or the others around town. Highly recommend.

Update!: I brought in a new to me Honda that needed some work and these guys did a great job as always. I've got a brand new AC in the car now , it was completed early! They did a great job of explaining the testing and repair process. They addressed some noise I was getting, my car is too dang low :) ! I'm happy with their work as always and will continue coming back as needed and recommending them to my friends. I've had the team at this location work on a couple of my cars and they're fantastic. They're always professional, their friendly, keep me informed on what's going on, and there's never any crazy surprises. I'll for sure keep coming back as they provide amazing service.

Andy took care of me and the repair was covered under warranty. They got my truck back to me with a reasonable amount of time. My only complaint is that I had to make an appointment for my repair and this was two weeks out. I was not able to use my truck during this time Since I was under warranty I could not take it elsewhere. I don't know what the solution to this is. Maybe more mechanics or more stalls or both not sure. It does put the customer at a disadvantage when he can not use his vehicle for two weeks. I saw a customer walk out because he refused to wait. Business lost can not be good. All in all besides the wait to get repaired I am a happy camper! Thanks Andy!

I had a major leak on an engine oil VTC strainer cover that resulted to an oil spill all over my engine. A friend recommended Austin Automotive & I'm so grateful. Although I had to wait over a week for an open appointment slot, it was worth the wait. From the time I walked in until the time I picked up my car, they were helpful, understanding & consistent in staying in touch with me on the status of my car. I left my car at the shop for 1 night. I originally had this work quoted at another shop for $2,500 yet Austin Automotive only charged me $480. I was amazed. My car sounds brand new & I thank Andy & his crew for giving me a peace of mind. I will DEFINITELY come back!

My car randomly stopped and after sitting in the dodge dealership’s repair shop for months with no answers. I finally decided to have my car towed here. After reading great reviews about this auto shop I decided to take my truck there for a diagnosis. I was provided two quotes for flexibility on price, but I was shocked at the inflated cost on the parts my truck needed. I compared the unit costs to OEM dealership cost and asked for more information on where the number comes from (the parts the shop were going to use were not OEM). The shop did not want to explain why the numbers were so high so I decided not to proceed due to the lack of transparency and won’t be going back.

My car was in pretty bad shape with worn rotors and an engine problem - I thought it would take a few days to repair. Thanks to them it was fixed before end of day! Andy got me quickly checked in without an appointment. Tim is always so kind and helpful! I will be returning if need help in future! Pricing was fair for the work also, great experience. Side note: A few weeks prior, I stopped by due to a foul smell under hood. Tim was nice enough to come out and take a peek even without an appointment. Nice people! :)

I been going to this location since 2012 I've took every car I've had since then to this location. Andy has always been honest and up front with me as far as my car needs and all that. Honestly he's probably the reason I continue to take my car their and now my wife's car. But on my last visit I felt like the quote I was given on certain services they recommended was jus ridiculous. Pricing was way to much definitely disappointed but that's the way it is I guess. But as far as Andy as always he's was awesome

Nice people. Had an alignment done here and it was priced reasonably. They include a 6 month warranty which is nice. 4 stars out of 5 because a synthetic oil change was almost $130. I’ve gotten several synthetic oil changes from reputable shops for less than $100 so I’ll be getting oil changes elsewhere but for actual work (not regular maintenance) I’d come back here. They seem like honest people that do good work. Tim (I think was his name) was friendly and straight to the point.

I really appreciate this place working us in the day before Christmas Eve to test out the auto emissions signal light that came on and making the repair quickly so we could travel safely. I had previously taken my car in to get the brakes checked when they were squeaking. They did a thorough inspection and determined they had plenty of life left. They easily could have just taken my money and I wouldn't have known the difference, but they were honest and I appreciate that.

After having a very bad repair experience two years ago, I am very pleased to have found Austin Automotive Specialists. Their reviews are true to form. The staff was super friendly, engaging, and transparent about the repairs. They were VERY efficient. I had my Jeep back next day! They replaced my steering stabilizer, rear brakes and rotors. They also gave me a full printed rundown of the inspection/findings. I will definitely see them for future needs. Highly recommended!

The staff at Austin Automotive have always been accommodating and transparent with my repairs. This visit was for an alignment of my 1992 Ford Ranger. Made an appointment online and was seen promptly. Alignment was done in a timely manner and I was able to pick her within 3 hours of dropping her off. I have had similar experiences with the work they have done on my 2009 Subaru Outback. I don’t hesitate to bring my vehicles here for any repair.

The mechanics here were very knowledgeable and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. They even showed me the parts they replaced and what was wrong with them after the repair. I ended up paying a thousand less than I was originally quoted and they fixed only what needed doing immediately but gave me a quote for future maintenance. You’re in good hands here and don’t have to worry about being lied to or nickel and dime’d.

Been bringing my car here after having a few bad experiences at Lamb’s. These people are amazing! Excellent service and kind, thoughtful, and thorough explanations for all of my questions and concerns. I know “honest” and “mechanic” generally means the opposite when used in the same sentence, but this place really does do it proper. Twice I have brought my car here for a second opinion and I will not be taking it anywhere ever again.

Tim was an excellent on helping me on my oil change and made sure my car is up to date on any repairs, made me feel safe to leave my jeep in good hands, I always feel nervous leaving my car to a mechanic shop but Tim made sure I got the best quality, best prices and best service. Fixed a part of my engine, and now it runs smoothly as ever, I will definitely recommend this mechanic shop to anyone there the best in the Austin area.

Service at the front counter isn’t great. I asked them to go through my car with a fine tooth comb to let me know every little thing that needs to be taken care of. Somehow they missed that I need new brakes. They tried to convince me I needed an oil change when I had just gotten one done a couple weeks prior. They will find any reason to make you pay more money for things they break. They have a good policy on their warranty.

Andy is like a family member to me after all of the repairs my cars have needed and how often i come in. He always gives a detailed description of what’s going on with my car, and quotes a reasonable price. Quick on the repairs too! After three different older model vehicles i have had i know i can count on Austin Automotive when i need to get anything fixed. Thank you so much for all of your hard work Andy and his team!

Recently brought my 2019 Ford Escape, super friendly and professional. Spoke with Andy, such honesty and integrity of the work they do. They treat everyone like family. I needed a crankshaft sensor. They verified it with a diagnostic test. I was also due an oil change and I also decided to do replace my power steering fluid. It had not been done and I had a 130000 miles on truck. I had all this done for a reasonable price. They did a multipoint inspection. Told me what to look for in the future. They were straight forward and pleasant to work with.

These guys are seriously the best! They have helped me out twice when I’ve been in a bind and all the mechanics in town were booked for weeks! They give the best advise with genuine empathy and don’t brush you off even when they are booked solid. Feels like I’m talking to a helpful Uncle that cares about my safety on the road. Definitely coming here for my future automotive needs.

We have an older vehicle that is kept for sentimental reasons which my oldest drives and Andy always takes the best care of us and keeps him safe. We originally came here because it was very close by, but we really stumbled upon a gem of a place. They care and always go above and beyond and it feels like the old days where you have a real relationship with your mechanic.

I’ve been here multiple times and have always had a great experience. First time there they came in at 50% of the dealers quote. They’ve also honored warranties on their work no questions asked. Have always worked with Andy and feel like he communicates exactly what needs to be fixed without the menu of “nice to haves” with a giant price tag. Highly recommend.

My car is getting up there in age but I’m determined to keep it going and Andy and the team at Austin Automotive take care of it every single visit. I’ve had to bring it in 3 separate times already this year and each time it gets taken care of quickly and I’m sent on my way. Hopefully no more visits anytime soon but if needed, I know exactly where I’m going.

This mechanic was recommended to me by a coworker. I was having battery issues which turned out to be the alternator. I was told it would be a couple of days before they could get to it, but within a day it was ready. The staff were knowledgeable, and did not talk down to me because I am a woman. I would recommend Austin Automotive to anyone.

I was very satisfied with the overall experience especially with the customer service starting with Alex if I remember correctly at the front desk. My car needed an alignment and I was able to be done from start to finish all within an hour when I was notified that it could possibly take all day. I will definitely be a returning customer.

Was worried when my skid plate got damaged and was hanging down under my car. Thinking it would be lengthy and costly I was surprised all i needed was new pins to hold it up and the specialists solved the problem in only 5 minutes free of charge! The service team was very helpful, it was easy to set up an appointment, they were able to diagnose the problem quickly, and worked with the warranty company to coordinate the costs of repairs. Once I agreed with the repairs, they completed the repairs quickly and I had my vehicle back in less time than I expected.

Needed to get an alignment before a road trip the next day and although they were really busy they fit me in and completed it with a coupling hours. They also confirmed an issue I assumed I had, so now I know what I need to fix. They seemed very professional and fair, I’d recommend them and will return if need be.

I went in for a check engine light and when they discovered there wasn’t an actual issue they didn’t charge me a dime. They made sure to explain things thoroughly to me and were honest about issues. I showed up with some random issues with my car while they were very busy. I wasn’t sure if they serviced these issues or not (broken plastic on undercarriage and help with mounting license plate). My Ford F150 had a burning smell when idling. I brought my truck in and the performed a diagnostic on it. They explained the breakdown with photos included. They quickly performed the work and now the truck runs great. I highly recommend their services. They are my go to mechanic’s.

Incredible customer service. I was in and out so quickly. And when at first they thought they couldn’t repair my broken tail light, they recommended an auto shop that they prefer. In the end they were able to repair it easily and did it quickly and inexpensively. Highly recommend.

I took the car in for a checkup to make sure it was ready for a road trip. They inspected it and checked all my fluids and brakes, and didn't charge us a thing! We have used them in the past for repairs and they have been very responsive and the service is always been great.
