Like many other reviewers, I was home all day, never got a knock on the door, then found a card in the mailbox for a very large box I was waiting to be delivered. No missed calls. I went to the PO and found I needed 2 people to pick it up and complained. They said they would deliver it the next day. Post office staff called next day to say the driver "said" he attempted delivery. I didn't leave my home all day and work at a desk right next to the front door. Now they say I need to go back and get it. Poor customer service attitude from staff at Balmain Post office. Judging from these reviews they'd never survive if it were a commercial business.

Let me start by saying that it must be difficult to find more unfriendly staff members than the ones in the "Balmain Post Shop - Australia Post". But it gets worse; they're clueless on their products... When I asked what it would cost to send a letter to the Netherlands and said that I think it is 3.50, the incredibly unfriendly staff member said it was 3.70. I'm like, ok I might be wrong and bought 10 stamps, but no, when I checked at home I was right! The staff members (note: not all of them are bad) in that post office are a disgrace and someone from Australia Post should do some mystery shopping there for quality control purposes.

Being a Balmain local I unfortunately have to visit this post office fairly regularly and every time I do I am met with rudeness on a level I have never experienced in a service setting before. Today I had to collect a parcel, I was asked to show my ID the member of staff refused to take it and ordered me to open it myself, then proceeded to tell me how rude I have been to him. This is the norm here not the exception, I spend lots of money on posting parcels each month, but always try to take them to any other post office, unfortunately, when I miss a delivery I have to collect from here.

This post office isn’t opened on saturdays . Even though their site says they are , and it also says they are extending hours for Christmas They also don’t leave cards in mailbox so you don’t know when your package has arrived and they also don’t knock on the door or ring bell. I did receive a final notice card . In which I found out my package had arrived 2 weeks ago , and now can’t collect it as I’m going away . I did mention this to a lady at the post office , she said I need to talk to a delivery person . Lack of care

Avoid using this post office if you want competent service. Applied for a passport and supplied photos taken beforehand. After showing the post office the paperwork and photos in the interview, I was informed that the photos were unacceptable. So I was obliged to purchase another 6 photos that were taken by the post office, in order for my passport application to be processed. After receiving my passport, I noticed that the used photo was the original one I was informed that was unacceptable. Waste of time, money and effort.

Paid hundreds of dollars for expedited shipping of a package, and yet all the tracking page states is, "Unsuccessful delivery" and "no response". I was at home for two days (when they supposedly attempted delivery) yet I did not see a single postman nor did I receive any calls. Nobody rang the doorbell either. How is that even an "attempt" to deliver my package? And now I am required to collect the item from the post office even though I specifically paid for doorstep delivery. Thanks for nothing.

I adore my local domestic mail postmen, they are brilliant and go out of their way to help me. They always do it with a smile and they lift my spirits. If there was an award, it should to my postman that looks after Glassop Street. Their kindness is incredible and always ask how my day is going and stop to listen. They have no idea how much they make my day. I call them my little ray of sunshine as they really do make me feel like they care. We need more people like them in the world.

One of the most beautiful historical buildings in Balmain. Purpose built with courthouse and police station adjacent, which has served the community since 1887. It comprises a grand two storey building with prominent clocktower setback from Darling Street. Staff here are also nice and friendly. It’s a post office with an office supplies / post shop attached.

Always a big queue here to see one of the generally angry and intolerant staff (there are occasional exceptions). If you're not waiting for a parcel they already have, go to Rozelle PO instead. Nicer staff, shorter queue times and overall better service.

lt's a bit of a mixed bag. Depends on who is serving you. Mostly the staff are helpful but at times you wonder …
