I’m a frequent goer to the Chatswood Post office and have been enjoying their services and the efficiency of their staff for the past 3 years. Today, however at 10.40 am, when I wanted to send a package overseas, there were two issues I encountered: 1) no clear instructions/guidance on how to prepare the custom declarations. This was usually done by filling out a paper custom declaration form but they have changed the system recently. I just found that out today. All I found was a sign at the table that reads “preparing your custom declaration” and there’s a QR code underneath. No announcements, no instructions. This QR code sign could easily be missed because there are so many QR code these days for COVID 19 checking in etc. A nice staff member helped me navigate through the Auspost office website to find the online form and told me briefly what to do. 2) When I was about to get my package processed for shipment, I was met with rude staff (an older lady, around 50s, Asian descent). With the new system as per 1) you had to show a text message sent by Aust Post as confirmation of the submitted custom declaration and provide the barcode to them. This lady impatiently asked me to show her the barcode. Afterwards she printed the custom declaration form and asked me to sign my name. She put an “X” on the form, indicating where to sign. However this “X” was placed outside the signature and date fields. I was a little confused, still processing the new process and signed it anyway. She saw where I signed and with exasperation and huge sigh, said “not here, HERE!”. I understand that your employer/manager rolled out a new system and the staff probably scrambled to adjust to it but good customer service should always prevail. Your customers are adjusting to the new system and are not familiar so you should exercise some patience too. Better yet, make proper announcements and give written clear instructions somewhere in your post office so people can follow.

The lady’s that work here at the post office are lovely and amazing at their job. Whenever I’ve had any sort of encounter with the one old angry white man that works here it’s been absolutely horrible. This guys shows that he hates his job and his life. And has never ever been anything more of horrible. I’m a 20 year old girl wanting to return my package. I waited in line today from 15-20 mins to see someone. (Which I do not mind at all) as I’m waiting in line I could see him being rude to another lady so, as I do every other time, I prayed I didn’t get him to serve me. I also saw the other lady’s putting tape on other peoples packages. As soon as it got to me I had to see this man. So I tried to be positive because I know he’s just mean because he hates his life. In short he told me I’m wasting his time because I didn’t have tape over the top of my package. He said I have to pay the upmost for the most expensive package to put it in. I said sorry the place I’m returning a package for said I could use the same one. And that I spoke to a lady last time I was there and she told me they could put a piece of tape over it. (Because that’s what they’d done before for me also) I asked if I could buy tape and he said I could buy the $15 tape at the back but he wouldn’t wait for me and I’d have to and wait in line for another 20 mins because he did not want to help me. I asked to see someone else and he refused saying he would never allow that. I have no idea how this guy still has a job. But I never want to have to interact with this man again. Please fire him

Went to get passport photocopies certified. Old caucasian guy at the front just told me straight up ‘no.’ I thought he was joking and he went ‘does it look like I’m joking?’ He then asked me ‘do you know what certified means?’ like I didn’t understand. Went to explain that he had to go through all those pieces of paper and it was a lot of work. Pretty demeaning on their end. Too bad you have to do your job, I know. Said it all without much remorse or change of expression. Seemed to have antisocial tendencies or a personality disorder of some sort. The other day I was posting something to the US. Young caucasian woman with dark ponytail told me to move my things from my bigger bag to a smaller one for cheaper. Thought she would help me at the counter but just told me to leave and do it in the back. All to MOVE some things and rewrite the address on a new bag. Literally watched me scramble to get my things without lifting a finger. Then I had to line up again when it was so simple and could’ve been done at the counter. Wildly unhelpful, unresponsive, and expressionless. Brain fog, maybe? Couldn’t attempt doing a lick of work for a customer. It seems that most of the staff here are mentally unwell. Other Asian lady with a Bob was helpful though. Will not be visiting again lest management hires more able workers so customers don’t suffer.

I went to this post office to put in the passport renewal application for my son. I was dreading it actually, based on the negative reviews but I must say that it was a pleasant experience for me. There was a queue, but it moved fairly quickly as there were 6 staff servicing the customers. I got this gentleman called Rowel and he was courteous, professional and full of grace. I made a couple of honest mistakes on my form and was worried he might just tell me to go home and re-do the whole form, but he was very understanding and corrected my mistakes on the form (of course I had to initial it to acknowledge the correction, which I was happy to do). But I did notice not all the staff were equal. Some were like him and seem friendly, but some were a bit short-fused and snappy. I'm glad we got him. Thanks Rowel!!

This morning before noon, I went to this post office to do whatever I needed to do and asked some questions about renewing passports. The small lady with short black hair (bob to touching shoulder length) and black rimmed glasses was getting quite annoyed at me when I asked a few more questions to clarify my query. When I showed her what was written on the Australia Post website to illustrate my point, she got angry and gave me very bad attitude, screaming and shouting and waving both hands at me saying "I don't need to see the website I know it! I'm 100% sure we don't!". I was so shocked that I didn't know how to respond and left in sadness. Why would you speak like that when your job is in customer service? If she doesn't like this job, just leave. No need to speak to customers like that at all.

Went here on Saturday around 10 in the morning. Big queue as expected but moving relatively quickly thanks to a lovely lady Yen who was smashing it on the day unlike other employees. I can see why there are so many negative reviews as I could overhear how "rude" two other employees were. By the time the other were finishing helping one customer, Yen helped 2-4 with more difficult requests. Absolute legend - look for her if you want an outstanding service. To the defence of other workers on the day, they aren't necessarily trying to be rude, perhaps a lack of communication skills - that's all. Once again, huge shout out to a lovely and super friendly lady - Yen. If majority of post workers were like her, there wouldn't be a need for couriers or sendle.

I really understand why this post office has such a low valuation. I went to this post office several times to mail a letter to an acquaintance, Every time I went, there were so many people in the line. I was dumbfounded by the sheer unfriendliness of an Asian Chinese woman on staff. The way the Chinese Asian female worker spoke, the way she behaved, was disgusting. Besides me, two white women who were there at the time also looked puzzled as the Chinese employee suddenly disappeared. Why does the old Chinese woman keep working there, acting as if she don't want to work at the post office that much? If you don't want to provide proper service, just quit the job, old Chinese female employee. You so disgusting.

Terrible experience.... I took photo here for visa application. The old employee typed in wrong e-mail address and didn't double check with me. After he sent the soft copy of my photo, i found i didn't receive it. I told him that you typed a wrong letter of my email address. Could you please send it again to my correct e-mail address. He refused in really really bad attitude and said if i require to resend the soft copy, i need to pay another $18.... This is really ridiculous.... why should i pay for other people's mistake. I didn't receive my photo which i paid to due to his dereliction of duty and the only thing i received was a whole day's bad mood... Disaster

Poor service. I don't like writting bad review but this one I have to. I was returning my parcel. I asked this old white man at counter "could you please tape the box for me. Because they aren't left at the table" And I wonder if he misheard and then he literally tossed my parcel into the basket. Everything falls out. I was like sigh... When he sees my upset face he start to argue and shouting at me, saying "oh well I need to tape!? NO!" but I just asked you nicely could you PLEASE? And he is just not feeling guilty This old man should be fired honestly. Not the first time I see incident. WHY WORKING AT CUSTOMER SERVICE WHEN HE CAN'T CONTROL HIS ANGER.

I’ve been to here first time. The staff who I talked was so rude. I didn’t know which was fast way when I send the simple letter and notice my receipt had already information about tracking number. I wasn’t good at communiting in English either, so didn’t understand English well. Why she was very so picky and annoyed at me? The lady who wore black and bobbed hair, short height, with glasses and was standing at the end of the right. Don’t like her way of speaking. I went to there happily but was in a very bad mood when I got out from there. When I am gonna visit here next time, I will avoid her. I can understand why your score is too low.

I had a rather unpleasant experience with the guy Damien working there. He claimed that it’s not his job to check what’s in the parcel (so if it’s explosive he doesn’t care too). And he has hundreds of parcel in comparison to local post office that might have two a day, so he can offer no customer service? So 1: people can freely post dangerous goods including explosive with him and because he felt it’s not within his duty - potentially the Chatswood branch can be blown up? 2: if he really felt his work is overloaded and resentful, it’s not the customers’ fault. People living in busy neighborhood also deserve the same customer service.

Very poor service, I've been there twice, once for sending a parcel and once for collecting parcel. The staff there was so unfriendly and impatient. Feels like they just want to get things done quickly and if I have any extra questions they will be very impatient and just want me to vanish straight away.... I got a message saying my parcel is at the post office and I should collect at counter, so I went there but the staff said it's at the locker, I should've used the code to collect. When she said it I could feel she was very impatient, I guess it's because she thought I wasted her time.....

  • Jill Wang

Would give zero with horrible service and unprofessional. I applied passport for my son and came three times. Every time they ask me different things to bring. I followed all the steps of visa applying, and they ask more, which is extra inquiry and not listed on anywhere. Super annoying when they ask me driver licence(which is not required on the list). I bring my digital one and not accepted. Then what's the point NSW give me digital license?! They always do old fashion things and can not match the service with service NSW. AU POST ALWAYS WORK UNEFFICIENT AND WASTE MY TIME!

  • Jessie Wang

Terrible service. Wrong opening hours for Saturday. I arrived at 1.20 and they said they closed at 1 instead of 1.30 as stated on Google. The door was still half open and there were still customers being served inside but they wouldn’t let me in even though I explained I drove all the way here to post things on a Saturday according to their working hours, and it would be difficult for me to do so on a weekday. They couldn’t care less. I asked to speak to the manager and he didn’t even bother coming out. Customers are obviously not at the heart of what they do.

Very bad experiences with Chatswood post office staff, many times happen to me. Not polite at all and very rude. They don't deserved to get 1 star, ill give them zero star!! the Old white guy asked me to chase the delivery guy to get my parcel and there's another asian guy who doesn't want to give my parcel who works in the post office. Very Very bad experienced I rather pay private shipping than used this lousy Chatswood post office. Staff are not friendly at all very scary to approached them and talk to them!!!

  • Cee K

I thought I would chance the post office an hour before closing on a Saturday. The queue was long but the staff were efficient. The young lady who served me was lovely. The customer after me had a complicated multi-pronged enquiry and the Auspost customer representative deserves a sainthood for the patience with which she dealt with her dealings. She even kept a lookout for me and asked her colleague to help me with my parcel drop off. Thank you and keep up the good work!

  • Donnie Scott

Absolutely appalling service. Every time I have gone there, there has been a huge slow moving line, especially during peak times such as the middle of the day where its being held up by several people getting their passports done or trying to send dodgy items overseas. It's 2019, how can they not figure out a more effective and efficient system, especially when I need to quickly go to the post office during my lunch break

  • Samantha Hegvold

Would give zero stars if it was possible to. Chronically understaffed. Saturday morning, three staff working and about 35 people in the line. Waited 10mins and the line did not move at all. On previous occasion I tried to post an a5 home made card to the US and was told cheapest option was $15!! Went to the post office at Cromer the next day and it cost $5. Slow and do not know their options or product range .

  • Kasey Wu

Usually it's okay. Slow but workable. But when taking passport photos they always get it wrong. The first time they entered the wrong email address and I couldn't receive the online photos. Then I went there to take photos again and they took it without checking. When I arrived the embassy I was told that my photo cannot be used and I need to take again.... terrible passport photo service.

Friendly staff and Fast Service. Chatswood Post Shop is a large Australia Post Store which is always kept clean and is well staffed and well stocked. Even if there is a queue it often moves quickly. Conveniently located within Chatswood Interchange very close to the Train Station entrance and exit. Passport photos are available, Printer Ink, Small Gifts, General Stationery and more.

  • Caroline Ge (Caroline)

I just wanna say it’s terrible service with a lady who has long curly hair and also ware a glasses. I don’t understand why she looks so impatient and mean. When it’s my turn, she just staring at me without even a hello. Then, I start to lodge my application, I can feel her impatient DURING THE WHOLE PROCESS. Barely leave any complaints online but can’t stand this one.

  • Craig Gleeson

Brilliant staff. I was having problems with Foreign Currency which hadn't arrived on time, not the fault of the Post Office. As it turned out the exchange agent hadn't posted it. Staff took my phone number and called me several times to firstly advise that it wasn't in and secondly (Alleluia!!) It was in. Excellent, friendly service. Well done

  • Rebecca Jones

You guys need to either change your opening hours on either the website or missed parcel notice. We missed a small package today, despite replying to a text the night before answering YES to leaving in a safe place (ie letterbox or front door) Your website says you’re closed on Saturdays yet the notification says you’re open. Which is it?

  • Natasha Walton

I love my local post office! Slowly the team there has just gotten better over the last few years, and now they're a bunch of really friendly, truly helpful and considerate people. Going to the post office used to be such a chore, but not anymore :) I hate when I order things and they're delivered by anyone other than Australia Post!

  • Sid Rev

Modern spacious AusPost in Chatswood. Getting there was a bit hard due to lack of signages, and the line was long when I arrived one hour before closing on a week day. The CS team behind the counter seem pretty quick and efficient. My wait was about 20 minutes. The lady that helped with my package was pleasant.

I think a lot of reviews are unfair. There are generally too many customers for such a small post office. My observation is that some customers have trouble communicating in english and it can slow down the queue. Maybe 1 out of five staff have a mediocre attitude but most are courteous, knowledgeable and fast.

  • Em

I used to come here all the time when I still lived in Chatswood. It was normally very busy, but the service was always pretty friendly. I never really faced issues because all I would do is post stuff and never have to ask for help. As long as you're doing something simple, staff seem pretty friendly.

  • Ashish Mallela

My letter was being returned to the sender even though the address on it is correct. Spoke to the staff and they cannot help and said I must call the helpline. Helpline has a voice AI bot which does not understand the tracking number and says to contact their office…..useless tech and staff!

  • Tony JIANG

The customer service at Chatswood Interchange post office is TERRIBLE. The staff (man) with grey hair and glasses should really learn and improve on his customer service standard. If he is not happy for whatever reason, please take leave! Don’t work there!! Why should customer suffer?

  • Taylor D

Fantastic customer service by Nave. It was my last day returning a large parcel and I ran into some problem. I was panicking as it was the last day for this return. He was friendly, helpful, informative and I had the issue fixed just before closing. Highly recommend!

  • Lorri McPherson

The after hours vending machine is either broken or doesn't have the specific size or value pack of post satchels when you visit. There really needs to be a full compliment of goods in the vending machine and it needs to be hooked up to power. Very disappointing.

  • Reet S B

Went this morning to get my passport photo done, The old caucasian man was so rude, All the other staff was friendly and helpful but that man was extremely rude and made the whole experience so uncomfortable - Please change or quit your job if you aren't happy.

  • Chris Yeoh

The staff were lovely yet displayed utmost professionalism when dealing with lost parcel. I’ve seen some customers venting their non-post related issue but the staff approached them patiently, until exhausted all their strength to solve customer’s problem.

  • J K

Extremely inconvenient location. The old Chatswood post office was easier to attend as there was parking nearby. At this location trying to bring an elderly person here is challenging when they have difficulty walking and not accessible for the elderly.

  • Lucas Gregio

Joyce from AusPost Chatswood is an absolute Legend! Helped me out with my deliveries, and even went all the way just to ensure my package was extra safe, by adding some bubble wrapping in it! Outsanding and attentive job!!

  • Naveen

Very hard to find the post office. They should have mentioned a landmark. The post-office is no where closer to address mentioned. Apart from that, the service was good and fast.

  • Laurence

I would write a paragraph but everything i would have written has been said numerous times in previous reviews, it’s a shame management does not care to change. 0 Star.

  • Will Lipson

Had exactly what we wanted and was one of the only Australia post stores open a Saturday. Good prompt service.

  • LAURENCE LUO

You know what? It's your staff create the offending customers. You should shame of your service provided.

  • Lars Ljung

Always excellent service. The staff tries very hard and they deliver. Create location.
