"I had my worst experience at the Kogarah Post Office"
This week, I attended their office to lodge a passport application. The Indian lady with the longer hair advised that I had completed the incorrect form. I assured her that I had followed all the instructions correctly on the website and that I was sure it was correct. She assured me that it was incorrect one. I couldn't argue with her as I'm sure she has more experience than I have in this area, so I go home. When I return, I go through the whole process again, rather carefully this time round. It took me to the same lodgement paper. I contact DFAT and they advise I have the correct paper lodged. I go back to the post office the next day and advise what DFAT had told me to the same lady. She says, "oh I didn't see the form properly". No you didn't. No apology for the trouble and time wasted I went through going back and forth. We proceed with the application and there was an issue with me putting in the certificate number as opposed to the registration number of one of my identity documents. I acknowledge that she is only doing her job and I have the incorrect number listed. But before I go home again, I ask that she check that everything else I have is ok so as to avoid having to come back a fourth time. She looks through my documents and checks with the asian lady that my passport photo is acceptable - it is she assures. Off I go back home and print off another application form at office works and return to the post office for the third time. I get served by the asian lady this time. She goes checks all my documents are ok, she sticks my passport photo on the application form, signs it off and even cuts my current passport up. Just as I am about to leave, she does a double take at my passport photo. "Your hair is covering your face too much". If you look at the photo, it really isn't. I understand the need to adhere with the strict guidelines set by DFAT however omg. Really? Now? I have been here 3 times and all times I have been told the photo was acceptable. Now they tell me right at the very end of the process it isn't acceptable?? This was extremely annoying and unprofessional considering how many times I have been sent home at their oversight and incorrect advice given. I was almost fuming at this stage, but it's ok, I have brought spare photos. "The background is too dark, it needs to be white. Where did you take this photo?". I tell her that the photo was taken at this very post office. She said she could retake the photo at no cost since the quality was so bad an unusable. I happily obliged. I just wanted this to be over with. She said she would need evidence that I had this photo taken at this post office. I hand her a receipt. She said the receipt date is over 6 months so she would have to charge another $18.95 me since I cannot use a passport photo that is more than 6 months old. I argued that I cannot use the photos were of no use to me since even she acknowledged they were of such bad quality. I also brought up the fact that I was told on multiple occasions that my photos were acceptable but now she thinks they are not, even after she stuck them onto the application form with glue. So now I have 2 sets of photos worth $40 that are unusable/damaged by her and she is asking me to pay her another $18.95?? I would rather take my $18.95 elsewhere so I don't have to deal with you guys. The staff might not think much of providing incorrect advice to customers willy nilly, but I want them to know the actual effort and stress it can have on the customer's end, i.e. I did not need this inconvenience especially as a pregnant woman! I then went over to Banksia Post Office at the recommendation of my friend and felt instantly warmed by their greeting and welcoming smiles. They even thanked me for turning up to my appointment early. I was also able to lodge my application within 10 mins. I asked them specifically if my passport photos were ok and the man there said, "they are very good". THANK GOD.
VERY disappointed with Australia Post Kogarah's service and am quite embarrassed for them. Customer service is APPALLING with not even a 'Hello' from one lady in particular. Staff are rude, inefficient and speak amongst themselves as if it is a social gathering. They never know where our parcels are and never have them together. When receiving pick up slips, we never receive it directly in our mail. It is either under the door, on our driveway, in our letterbox or out the front. I am currently waiting on more than one item to arrive which is more than likely waiting for collection with no notification. Kogarah staff have to be the worst I have ever experienced. How can you not even acknowledge a customer!? I can only hope they soon will be audited. One very upset and dissatisfied DAILY customer who should be known by now (We literally pick belongings up x3 times a week!) I cringe at the thought of providing 1 star... AVOID AVOID AVOID! Edit: Visited today on a Saturday to collect parcels. Only one staff member was rostered on at the front desk! So slow. No effort in trying to fasten their service. Absolutely ridiculous. Your staff should be ashamed.
This has to be by far the worst post office in Sydney, Multiple times told that they do not have my package only to go home, ring the main line number and be told it is in the post office, go back up insist they look again and what a miracle they find it. I brought too many stamps, 2 boxes, went back to return it with the receipt, to be told that they do not return stamps and to call the head office if I want a refund, I call head office the helpful lady told me that there should be no problem refunding them.....had to go to a different post office to do it. Was posting a card box it was 2 cm thick by 10cm square, told that it was too thick and would post as a parcel, I take it to Carlton PO they measure it and post it as a large letter at a quarter of the price, Kogarah overcharges for postage beware. The staff in Kogarah are are unhelpful, rude and do not know their job!!! If you can go to Carlton, The staff are always friendly and helpful. Thank Goodness I am moving soon. If I could give zero stars I would.
I'm not normally one to leave 1 star reviews, but in the case of this particualr post shop, I have to let others know the unacceptable service I had from this store. On 2 occasions now I have been into this store to get digital passport photos done for my daughter .First time they sent the wrong format so the passport office would not accept them. The second time, they copied down the email address incorrectly and we did not receive them. Looking down the barrel of having to go back into the store to re shoot the photos for a third time, as once the email is sent ( wrongly or rightly) the photos are deleted, is painful to say the least, especially since we emphasised the need for photos in a particular format, which they got wrong, and gave them a business card with my email address so they wouldn't get the email address wrong, which they still managed to get wrong! Can I even trust them to get this right a third time??
I had my worst experience at the Kogarah Post Office. The lady worked at the front desk (called "Mawish"), has refused to process the $175 worth of International Express Envelops that I have paid at 16:22 for posting..(Yes they made me pay first! and then wanted to get rid of me because I was too slow when it is all complete!) Also, she just snapped and lost it because it was after 5pm and wants to go home. Being a customer service person, in a bank, if you swore at the customer, you are fired. Not sure about the Post Office?..but such a poor behavior was unseen, anywhere else in Australia Post.. P.S. She even flashed a pile of cash notes at me while yelling: "I am bridging the security rules for you to be here!" Totally putting the image and security of Australia Post at risk I'd say.
Everyone be careful‼️ They are a liar!!!! I went there today for applying my passport I had already my photo that I took from Officeworks. a man that works in Kogarah post shop told me your photo is not the right size, I showed him another of my photo that I sent it for my citizenship, he told me this one is not correct too!!! He told me we can take a photo from you! I didn't accept because Officeworks knows about Australian passport that how they take the photos. I went to other Australian post and they accept my photo and they told me your photo size is correct. Kogarah post just because of more money don’t be a thief!!! ZERO STAR
Certain staff member is rude and unfriendly. Not interested in customer service but just to get through the day. Some days may look more approachable, depends on individual's mood. Not following the public health order, got defensive when you reminded them politely about the rule. Not paying enough attention when entering address details into the system. My parcel got redirected because of the data entry error by a staff. Always the same staff member who makes visit to the post office unpleasant. Others just pretended nothing has happened when problems occurred.
I try to avoid going to the kogarah post office as much as possible. The workers behind the counter are rude and seem annoyed at any request you make. I simply wanted to collect a package, which seemed all too much for the lady behind the counter. After giving her the tracking number and my ID she was adamant it was not there. I practically had to beg her to look again as I could see my package in the back room. I wasn't impressed at all, I have all my parcels sent after hours to avoid it being send to the post office. Avoid if possible!!
This is my local post office. I really wish I could give this place more stars, but most staff here really need to go through customer service trainings. I have been there numerous of times. They are just awfully unfriendly most of the time. I have seen the same staff working there for years, and they are either not responsive or really rude to customers. It doesn't bother me too much, since I'm only there for quick posting or picking up parcels, but imagine having to go through paperworks with them.
My parcel was delayed and waiting for 5 days at the post office, because no one bothered to scan it into the system, so I had to call the support to get them to scan it. I was living in another suburb in the past and I never had an issue with the local P.O. Not to mention that they are cranky about the fact that I am using my parcel locker address and my home address in case it can't be delivered to my parcel locker. I was using this fomat in my previous suburb and my parcels were ALWAYS delivered.
Very Poor staff and service. Firstly got message your parcel will be delivered today but no knock or call or letter card when attempting delivery and delivery person put attempted delivery but unable to gain access. Then parcel size was oversized so Kogarah post office refused to take oversized parcel and sent to other post office. Why the hell you sent that without customer concerns. Also its not one time it happen with each and every parcel. No trust yo Australia Post any more. #BoycottAusPost
As I don't have a printer I went to this Australia Post outlet to get an Australian Post label printed out for an eBay return, they refused to print the label out for me, so I went to Officeworks and had it printed out and came back to post it. This service and look received by the coloured lady has to be the worst I have ever received. She looked at me as if I was scum, I ask politely and courteously, that they still refused because they are scared to waste money on their printer, pathetic
Came here today to post an item and I almost failed to distinguish if I was awake or still in nightmare from last night. Unbelievable service from one of the most impatient staff - Monica. She represented the beauty of frustration and unwillingness of assisting customers who are unfamiliar with the service. Hopefully it will not be necessary for me to come back or I might have to be served by this passionate lady. Good luck and thank you for making my day.
Very unfriendly and bad attitude of the lady staff at Kogarah Aus post office, I recently moved to kogarah and found that the delivery guys don’t even ring your apartment and ask us to collect from Kogarah office and when I went there to collect the attitude of the lady was too bad. In the past, I used to go to Allawah post office and their service has always been good. Kogarah Aus post staff need to work on their attitude and professionalism.
The staff at this post office cannot be commended enough. This is my regular post office and have had many dealings with them. They are always courteous and professional, even in the face of loud, obnoxious and overbearing customers. I saw this personally today when a large person became very loud, rude and overbearing. They handled the situation with aplomb and remained calm and professional. kudos to the staff at the Kogarah Post Office.
Most of the staff seems incompetent. Several times i have been handed the wrong package and walked out the door only to have to come back and get them to actually find my package. Always make sure it's your name and address on the package. Not close enough as some of the staff seem to think. On the plus side there are some stuff who are really good and i hope they stick it out and are a positive influence on the less competent staff.
Lack of customer service, hardly to see smiles in this place and not willing to help. I had been dealing with many post offices and I can tell the differences between the franchisee one and the own organisation one are very far standard as those employees just work through their days and franchisees are keeping their business. And this Kogarah team same faces been there years never get rotated but keep the same bossy standard.
Based on the many negative reviews posted here, I was quite apprehensive going there to ask for a P.O. Box and redirection of mail. But I am glad I did go. Sherleen, Maria and Muhammad are true professionals, with a friendly disposition and a good sense of humour. Therefore, I have no hesitation to give them a 5-star rating. I still don’t understand WHY other people have posted so much criticism and negative comments…..
Give the staff here a break! These guys are often abused by customers because they don't bring their ID's. It's simple you have to prove your identity to collect your parcel. I feel really bad for the staff here, they are simply following procedures, that's part of their jobs. I'm here regularly sending my parcels and the amount of horrible behavior that I've witnessed from customers is ridiculous!
I lost 4 parcels... I wasn't home and they let in the room who everyone can get it.. Too lazy to put a ticket that I can get in the post office.... they said that my parcel has been accepted at the adress.. So someone took my parcel without give them ID no signature... I was away so wasn't me... Very unprofessional.. I called them and they said they will refund me still waiting.. Unbelievable.
I literally go there almost everyday to send parcels. I never had an issue before until a lady with very short hair started serving me somehow, always my labels were wrong, today I was told that my medium box it's not a medium was actually large so she insinuated that I wanted to pay less lol she doesn't understand that the customer pays for it no me disgusting customer service
Worst P.O ever. Even if I have a barcode to collect. One of lady she is even bother to searching my parcel. Her excuse was she is working by herself, she cannot have a time to searching my parcel. She’ve asked me to come back again. Then when ? Why she cannot find in her roster?? How silly this situation. Still I cannot collect my parcel. As she refused to searching.
Terrible customer service, rude the entire time. Telling me my paperwork that I provided were not originals the asian lady went to multiple other coworkers and they all said it’s the original she just gave me a frustrated look the entire time. Was overall a unfriendly experience and made me feel like I was dumb enough to not know what documentation I needed.
Why such a low rating? This place is awesome. I've been using it for more than five years - I use it a lot and only have nice things to say. Everyone's warm, friendly and very helpful - even when it's busy. And if you're a local, they remember you and always have something cheerful or funny to say. I think some of these reviewers need to chill out a bit!
I went to Kogarah Post Office today and Shirleen went out of her way to help me. She was so helpful and professional I can't thank her enough. She provides excellent service i have never experienced customer service like it Thank you so much Shirleen you are an asset to Australia Post and great at your job 5 star service absolutely
Have been going to this Post Office for many years and really have no problem with the staff. They are civil and reasonably efficient and make every effort to locate my packages. They frequently have to deal with very long queues, but as far as I can see they do well considering the chaotic state of Australia Post.
I ordered something and my parcel was given to post office even though i was at home. When i went to post office, my parcel was not there. They gave my parcel to unknown person. When i asked they said you picked it up and showed me signature which wasn’t mine. I asked for enquiry but no response. Very poor service
I've been going here for years and haven't had any major issues. The staff have always been friendly and helpful despite the high volume of customers they have to go through everyday. If a mistake is made (which has only happened once or twice) they always apologise and make it right.
Didnt show up at all, and set the “unable to leave in safe place” status, and returned my parcel to a different suburbs’ post office :( Update: After not getting a ring at all, had to go to kingsgrove to pickup. Apparantly this was too big to be kept at Kogarah’s Post office.
I feel bad for giving such a low rating, the staff in store are nice and it isn't their fault the delivery drivers are so bad. They Never bother to deliver parcels or even leave cards in letter box, Ive had this problem with almost every parcel since I've moved to Kogarah
Considering how people are becoming increasingly reliant with the internet on their shopping, the people working here are increasingly stepping up their game, and their patience with customers who need assistance with the services provided here. Keep up the awesome job!
Terrible post office, they shut the door and refused to let us in 1 min before they shut at 12:29 on Saturday 23/12 so we couldn’t get my Christmas package! The asian male was very rude shouting all the way from the counter infront of a whole line! Do better auspost!!
As mentioned by others , the tall asian lady needs to up her skills, not just frowning upon on anything she sees. She insisted my kids passport photo size was incorrect and asked to re-take them , i ended up going to another PO, where staff said size was fine.
There was a slight wait to the line but it wasn't too long as the line moved rather quick. I wish I caught the lady' name who served me because she was expectionally nice and fast at her job. I asked if she could put tap on my parcel and she kindly accepted.
Absolute rubbish service i sell on ebay so i knew postage cost to NZ they tried to charde me $15 more so i took package to my local post office who is an outlet and they got it correct. 2 times now they need to get it right YOU have one job to do . …
disorganized. lost my parcel. no apology given and just asked you to lodge complaint online. They have messed up 2 online delivery within a week. I only ordered two this Christmas period. AUSTRALIA Post is not getting any better after covid.
I was just 3 minutes before closing & have to travel overseas next day. But the Asian faced guy whom I said my concern on the door simply rejected to give a parcel just saying " sorry we're already closed". I lost my parcel forever.
Workers in there are literally useless. Any time I have to pick up something from them, you can bet they won t find a single pack and tell you that they have t received yet while it is clearly in there. USELESS and RUDE
Must say I have been to this PO many times and have always found the staff to be helpful and responsive, I guess the reviewers in this instance are only those who were in a rush and had bad experience
I can’t believe the day has come where I feel the need to give an Australia post a positive review! Such a lovely woman(blonde) served me today and made the whole experience surprisingly enjoyable.
I use Kogarah and Usyd post offices and Kogarah is often much slower and often I have to pay more for postage. They get the job done eventually but there is always a long wait and slow processing.
Despite Australia post being a public company and there being a mask mandate in effect in NSW, this branch was not enforcing the mandate and let customers come in and conduct business maskless.
I don't understand what all the other negative reviews are about? Went in, bought stamp to send a letter overseas, and out straight away. All good, no different to any other post office.
the best australia post i have ever visited. you need to compare to other stores. I have visited several places city, narwee, rockdale, etc but the one at kogarah is the best
Impatient and rude staff. The staff always have trouble in finding parcels and always ask the customer if he/she have already collected his/her parcel in a rude way.
The delivery drivers in Kogarah do not actually deliver the items to you. They just take them directly to the Post Office for you to collect them. Terrible service.
I would like to say how impressed I am with how helpful and kind Vicky is. Patient, knowledgeable, always with a smile... Thank you for your service!
Parking on roof top of town centre, easy access, normally a long queue before getting served., quick service, good range of products on display.
I been there couple of times. Every time the staff was really helpful and guided me in the right direction. Also, each time my work was done.
I came at the Kogarah post collect my parcel and 2 minutes past 5pm they were still working but don't want to serve and kick me out
I'm not sure what all the whining in the review section is about. Just had a great experience renewing my passport with Shireen.
Please check all ur unclaimed parcels and plesse tell your customers in timely manners if there are parcel ready for them.
Very helpful and friendly service. Has all the stock you need to post your letter and/or parcel.
Had a rude lady serve me. Not quite sure where she learnt her customer service skills from.
They’re so slow! Like I know this is a government org but they move at a geriatric pace.
Very good service. Very polite staff consistently every time. Frequent user
they don't accept digital id via service nsw app. not so convenient.
Staff are very helpful. Easy to access from shopping centre.
Rude asian lady with zero patience and customer service.
Service could be better and more customer friendly.
