I am new to the area. My dog needed her teeth cleaned, so I went to the nearest vet to my home. I made an appointment and took her in by the designated time. Was greeted by 2 nurses. Was given a quote of ‘up to $800’ and that would be only if extractions had been necessary. I received a call around 11 a was told that the procedure had been done & that no extractions had been necessary. I went to pick her up at 3. Was presented with a $806.75 I argued that no extractions had been involved. Was told that it included blood work and that they use ‘very expensive’ anesthesia . I reluctantly paid. But did ring my previous vet and enquired what I had previously paid for the same procedure. I was told that it had been $526 but that had included her annual vaccination. I did ask if there might have been a reason the bill might have been higher. She did state that they had done a dental clean on a 25 kilo Lab the day before & that bill had been $700 (my dog weighs less than 10kilos) I asked if there was a more extensive anesthesia that might have been used. Her answer? A giggle. Never will I use this ‘very expensive’ Vet clinic again.

Brought my cat Salem in yesterday morning and had a wonderful experience at this vet. As soon as i called, the receptionist was able to fit me in immediately. The staff here are helpful, friendly and reassuring. Vet Amy was an absolute gem! She gave my boy a complete look over, checked all his vitals and gave me so much valuable information and advice. She was great and keeping Salem calm (the vet is his least favourite place, and even getting his temperature checked was fine), she talked me through everything she was doing and was so great! I was given all the medication he needs with instructions on how and when I should give them to him. I had a follow up call the next day which was great, Amy was awesome at ensuring everything was on track with the medications and Salem's overall condition! I've felt really looked after by this vet and a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. Really impressed by the service here and really highly recommend!

I cannot fault the service and medical care of Balmain Veterinary Hospital. We've been bringing our dog here since she was a puppy and they've always really looked after her. I can also highly recommend the puppy school here as well! Our dog injured her leg and she required an X-ray and then surgery. The level of care, compassion and understanding by all staff has been outstanding. They explain everything thoroughly in an easy to understand manner and they are up-front with medical options, costs and timelines. They're also accommodating if appointment times need changing or if you require and urgent appointment on short notice. They are also prompt with providing any documentation and have a handy booking reminder system. There are cheaper vets out there but when it comes to your fur child, none of that matters!

Really patient and understanding team that works here. It can be a little expensive but the team does their best to work with me to ensure that they can provide the required care to my animals without needing to pay for unnecessary treatment like blood works if they can avoid doing it to save me some money. The team spends time discussing alternative treatments and outcomes for my pets, and really take the time to ensure I understand what's going on with my pet. The location is a little tricky to get to with all the traffic on the main road, but once you've travelled there once it's not too hard to get to after that. Plenty of parking and wheelchair accessible too. Opening hours are great as I don't need to take time off work as they are open outside of general office hours.

We were referred to Steven Cooney of Balmain Vet Hospital for our new beagle puppy. I can't speak more highly of the approach of Steven and everyone in the clinic. They are fabulous. Steven was incredibly thorough as part of his initial exam of our puppy and passed on so much information to us. He took a real and genuine interest in our puppy and us. Our puppy had his vaccinations and didn't even realise. He made the puppy feel very comfortable and relaxed and we are very comfortable that our puppy will not have any stress issues with visiting the vet in the future. We are not local to Balmain but would absolutely rather travel to have Steven look after our puppy than try to find someone better - not sure we would find a better vet.

Place is clean and organised Although Had abit of a strange experience here. Called and asked if they had some canned cat food . Lady said yes and she would put them aside. Got there and it was dry food, I said I was after the canned food . She said I never specified Then tried to book my pet in for a check up. She booked me in but didn’t tell me the time she had until the end of the questionair. I said I couldn’t do that time unfortunately. And said next time just say the times you have available. She said “ I did” quite loudly .. she hadn’t at all?? I then said to here calmly “I don’t mean to offend you , I don’t want to have an arguement” She laughed .. I walked away with the wrong food and strange feelings

Balmain Veterinary Hospital cared for our two cocker spaniels Jodie & Olle for their entire lives and provided excellent care right up to their deaths just 10 days apart in March 2014. Jason showed great compassion at our loss at this time too. Now in 2020 after living in the UK I wish to bring their ashes back home to Australia. Today within a couple of hours of opening, Jason and Tory supplied me with a letter confirming that the ashes being carried back to Australia were our two dogs so that they can clear customs. The excellent service of this business continues. I really recommend Balmain Veterinary Hospital to all pet owners.

After years of hearing my doggie clients sing the praises of Balmain Veterinary practice, I decided to move my dog Frankie over to their care. Jason became Frank's new vet and I was very happy and impressed with his skills and care. He was more than willing to communicate openly and discuss options re the best care for my old boy. I was devastated when Covid came to town and I was forced to move to a regional area and if it wasn't for all the lockdowns and travel restrictions I would continue to bring my dog to Sydney so Jason could continue with his care. I cannot recommend this Veterinary practice highly enough.

My name Denise the service i received from Balmain Veterinary Hospital in june for my dog was of high standard the lady at the front desk was very professional and showed empathy for my sick dog with genuine feelings which is very rare nowadays she was not just doing a job, and i felt a very good vibe and same were for the vets who on two occasions looked after my dog there. They were very caring and nurturing with no rush what so ever.i will always recommend their service. It's very rare to see this old fashion service nowadays where you just don't feel like a number.

I have taken all my furbabies to Rozelle Vet for over 30 years. Throughout this time they been professional,sympathetic and a get support. My house recently burned down and the Rozelle Vets and staff took in my 4 cats as emergency boarding, no questions asked. They cared for them for 2 weeks, until my husband and I were able to yet accommodation. I cannot praise them enough. Incredible team. Supportive and kind. I highly, highly recommend them to anyone who loves their furbabies and wants them looked after with kindness and exceptional professional care.

I recently took my little Orlando in for treatment and I must say I was very upset at the thought he was unwell. The reception, the vets, and all nurses were so helpful caring and compassionate I was flawed with just how they all cared. When the vet called me to share some potentially daunting results I was too overwhelmed to speak, so I asked the vet to call my partner, and within seconds they called my partner to discuss Orlando. I don’t think I could recommend this vet more. Great job guys. Thanks for looking after ORLANDO so well !

This place is amazing. We have a very fussy cat and he gets the best 5star service here. We never hesitate to book him in when we are going away(which we do often). Great staff 5 star service from the front desk and the girls upstairs can't do enough to make the whole experience for our cat the best. Hours of operating are great. Never have to wait. Staff friendly and competent BUT it is very expensive and I do think they over service. Both times I have taken my cats there they really pushed blood tests on me. These were more expensive than the consultation fee. My kitten had to have a blood test before she had the FIV shot to see if she already had FIV so they "didn't give her the vaccination unnecessarily", but hey, the vaccination was so much cheaper than the blood test so why didn't they just vaccinate her?

I had two experiences. I first called the practice to discuss worms and the person who answered was very personable and helpful in finding out the information that I requested. The second one was regarding a photo of the worm that I sent to be investigated. Within less that 30 minutes of my sending the email with the photo, it was responded to and was very helpful in identifying a worm that I thought came from my cat which it wasn't. Great Service, caring and compassionate.

My cat sooty had a long stay of six weeks. I will never leave her anywhere else but Balmain veterinary hospital. They looked after her so we’ll that I don’t think sooty really wanted to come home. Everything about this place is purrrfect from the reception staff to the cattery staff and of course the wonderful vets dr Katherine especially. Thank you to you all. Whenever I have little emergencies with sooty I am taken almost immediately and I come away feeling much better

Disappointed with the outcome of our $110 visit. Unfortunately our dogs issue was unable to be diagnosed, resolved or treated. Although a general health checkup was carried out on our dog, no suggestions, tests (allergies, swabs, etc.), or symptom relief/medications were offered other than to 'monitor him and bring him back if no improvement', which did not inspire a lot of confidence in a resolution to the issue. As it stands we must now pay for another vet opinion.

AVOID this VET practice at all costs if you love your pet The owners are heartless, ruthless, consumed with making money and exploiting the owners of vulnerable animals. Very expensive spent thousands and they didnt heal my pet. $$$ is all they care about. Apalling attitude of management. Zero compassion demonstrated here. In their reply it's claimed l abused their staff which is LIE. Whatever you do TAKE YOUR PET elsewhere.

My review about the tail is true. That situation occurred and I am glad we didn't go through with such a false and horrible thing. Maybe staff has changed now but whoever the person was that said this, should not work at a vet or as a doctor. It doesn't disregard the situation. Vets everywhere SHOULD be COMPETENT. The standard is not good. The animals can't speak to us in English. They need real quality care. This stuff should NEVER happen.

The team here went above and beyond to help us save our little girl Honey who had an undiagnosed disease. Between Dr Danielle, Dr Jamie and Dr Tanya, they all did everything they could to make her feel better in a critical situation. They were informative, kind and helpful to us. I would not take her anywhere else now, and I am so happy to be a Balmain resident knowing my precious one is in good hands. Thank you all!

Very good. Explained my kitten has gingivitis. I'm to brush her teeth once a day. Pink nose doesn't need to be tattooed as she sees very little sun. Recommended I get FIV vaccine. $180. 3 doses. Prevents virus. Needs to be vaccinated yearly. The virus is equivalent to AIDS!? in humans I think so cats get sick a lot. Only got charged for vaccine. Wasn't charged for check up & questions. Very good.

We went a while ago and they wanted to cut our cats tail off due to a minor injury. Weeks later, our Cats tail was completely fine. Cats need their tails. Pet owners BEWARE. And company, for future, know what you are doing. Do not assume and put forth the worst case scenario and lie to people and provide inhumane and unethical practices to Animals. Very unhelpful and disappointing.

Have been going to Balmain veterinarian for 17 years. They have always been kind, thoughtful, gentle and reliable. It's not cheap but would be no more expensive than most decent vets in Sydney. They have been through deaths, illness and health with my cats and a few pet rats within the last 17 years and always show care and consideration for my animals no matter how big or small.

First visit today with my puppy Wilbur and our experience was fab! We felt very welcomed and safe and felt all the staff explained everything really clearly in easy to understand language. Glad to hear we will be reminded via text etc about Wilbur's needles and check ups, takes the stress away! Will definitely be long term clients. Thanks team

Balmain Vets is absolutely the best practice, we have experienced in Australia. They have looked after our beautiful geriatric Border Collie, (Bella) for a number of years. At all times listening to our concerns and providing, considered advice and care plan choices. We are very grateful for the service they have provided. Highly recommended.

Took my dog in for a check up, after $500+ dollar worth of checks they gave her some antibiotics. When asked for reasons on the test, they say it was to better understand the dog's condition. when asked if there is alternative treatment should the worst fear is realized, they said no, the antibiotic is the only treatment. right.

Have been a customer for 7years now. Every time staff are professional, caring and personable. It's very obviously they are all in the right profession and enjoy there work, which is a reflection on their business. We've now moved out of the area, but we still drive back every time we need a vet. Thanks guys!

Took my Maltese dog there a few weeks ago on a Sunday. (She was suffering from diarrhoea for 3 -4 days) Beautiful, caring staff and not as expensive as expected for a weekend visit. She was given a full check up and medication which worked for just over $100. I would recommend this vet to pet owners.

Rude experience after I rescued a butcher bird from a dog park. Lady on the phone and at reception seemed annoyed that I was bringing the bird in. Took the bird, spoke 2 words to me and went back to her computer. Will certainly be going to a different vet with rescues and any other animal care.

I recently moved to Rozelle with me 2.5 year old Aussie Shepherd and was recommended this vet. Every experience I have had has been terrific. The staff are very experienced, informative, personable and you can tell are passionate about their job and taking care of your pet. Very impressed.

Terrible. Was lied to or it simply didn't get done correctly about the microchip being in nobodys name and was told it was transferred to me. It wasn't and has caused all sorts of problems. Didn't seem genuine just all about money. A shame the receptionist wasn't the vet, she was lovely.

I always receive excellent service when I am here. Their service and the professionalism of their veterinarians always makes me feel very comfortable when leaving my pets there. Their reception staff are also very friendly and happy to answer any questions I have over the phone.

This Vet understands the need of the Cat Dad (yes, that's a real thing, Google it and don't judge me!). The dedicated feline waiting area is equipped with Felaway dispensers to aid in cat trauma reduction.

It's so frustratingly expense here. Do your homework before going. Their prices are well above average and this affects many pet owners in trying to do the best for their pets. I recommend shopping around.
