I've walked by this place so many times the last few years, and it's always been full to the brim - leaving me to wander off elsewhere to consider. Yesterday was finally opportune time to stop in for a drink and some snacks, as it was still early in the afternoon before everyone left work. I popped in for a few drinks and some snacks. As this is a bottle shop, everything is available for takeaway, and customers are constantly popping in to grab a bottle for home. There is no printed drinks menu, which affords the staff a lot of flexibility in what to have open, keep the rotation fresh and interesting. I asked for a glass of champagne and was poured a glass of Vilmart & Co for $25 - a steal in Melbourne's highly competitive wine bar scene, and the pour was generous. After, I ordered a glass of Domaine de Montbourgeou l'etoile, a fresh bottle and as zippy as ever. Classic Jura! Snacks are on a chalkboard on the wall. I ordered the Nduja with Burrata, and liver parfait. I was informed that as burrata was a bit difficult to get at the moment, it had been replaced with mozzarella, and was asked if that was okay (thanks for asking!). Food is handled somewhere out of the store as the attendant had to leave and come back both to place the order and to retrieve it. When they arrived, the portions are HUGE especially considering the cost ($17 and $15 respectively)! I honestly haven't seen a serving of Nduja that big since I was in New York over ten years ago, and I certainly wasn't complaining - it's one of my favourites, especially when served so simply. Parfait was good and standard, when I ran out, I still wanted more as it was very tasty. I found myself really portioning both as they both came with a considerable amount of bread, what better to soak up the wine with. Now I can see why this place is bustling with positive energy, what a positive place to be! It's definitely going to be a future earmark for my visits to the city. So good to find a good afternoon snack and drink spot in the CBD. Thanks guys!

What a cool concept! Basically you get to pick a bottle of many that they have. It’s like a really cool and intimate wine store you can drink at. We had originally planned to go to Handpicked Wines cellar door a few blocks away for some Australian wine tasting but it was randomly closed. We had eyed this place on our walk to Handpicked so we came here instead. We tried 3 different glasses of wine that were offered by glass that night. It sounded like aside from many bottle options, they typically have 3-4 options for red, white, and rose/sparkling. They have many bottles to choose from (almost too many!!) but we like to drink our wine chilled and we also wanted to sample a variety of wines so went with the glass offerings. They also have beer and other cocktail / liquor options. It is a very laid back place, the kind of a place you would come by for a glass to unwind. Also it is also very intimate so works well for dates. I’d definitely come back if I am ever back in Melbourne!

Very nice place for two or maybe three to catch up over a glass of wine. Welcoming, pleasant staff and tres chic. I don’t want to brag but they sold us I think 6 glasses of wine and some rillette (very good portion) for only about $100. We then took a bottle home that was only $32 for a delightful pinot grigio. I know it’s uncouth to just talk about price but I found this very fair prices and a lovely atmosphere. Also very high ceilings so it helps make it so that even when full you can have a quite intimate conversation. One question is, could you do some marinated white anchovies instead of tinned? And maybe some table pickles on the menu? But honestly, try this place. It’s a lovely stopover.

I visited this lovely wine bar last Saturday afternoon. It has a great cosy atmosphere. However I left feeling quite uncomfortable. One of the female staff felt it's appropriate to call customers babe and my love as she served them. Just because you might see this as cool, it is inappropriate to call people this regardless of your gender. I'm sure she wouldn't appreciate being called babe by a stranger. On asking to pay she bought the credit card machine over and said smash or smack it down on that big boy! Translated that meant put your credit card on Square for payment. Yes I could have said something but I just went in for a relaxing glass of wine!

Bijou Bottle Store is such a beautiful space, vibe and offering! The only problem, it's not big enough to fit more people. Such an intimate feel and vibe surrounded by floor to ceiling bookshelves filled with great wines and spirits. The service here is knowledgeable and friendly. The food on offer is small and made to share but covers great food you'd want to be eating with wine. Charcuterie board is divine with great flavours and good portions. Cheers selection is sufficient and they are all great! Recommended this place for a romantic date, catch up with friends and any chilled and laid back occasion with a touch of warmth and class

Saw this place when it was closed and looked great, so came back with friends today. Was greated by a walking menu the host. The whole menu and prices are in her head. I may be different but I like to browse the wine selection to make a decision. Apparently the wine availability changes daily so a wine list can't be provided. Food selection direction was not much better. Unfortunately we did not stay any longer to try to comprehend the verbal rambling menu suggestions.

I’m in love.. this place is my dream. Limited seating (app 20ppl max), looks like a chic little book shop.. replace books with wine. Tom was amazing - super helpful and fun. And not your average “bws” booze … DO NOT come here and ask for Moët - they have A TON of Gin’s, unique wines and a whole lot of other fun stuff… this is where you come for a cool first date, something different, off the beaten track, one of a kind, no crowds.. I want to live here.

Bijou Bottle Store is a fantastic intimate venue on Russell Place. Excellent selection of traditional straight up cocktails, rotating wines and anything you want to purchase from the cellar and consume with some good friends. The food options are fantastic , rustic and perfect for sharing. Think Anchovies, Olives Charcuterie and Truffles. I absolutely recommend you stop off for a tipple next time you're in the city, you won't be disappointed

This is my favourite happy hour, chill out place! All it takes is a nice glass or a bottle of wine, professionally recommended by the sommelier- they are so knowledge and would select any drink you ask for! Well done and good job gals!!! Keep up the wonderful service even when it is so packed and singled handedly serving, clearing and smiling all the way!

The girl working tonight was the biggest C U Next Tuesday I have ever met. Our diverse group couldn’t put it down on race or sexuality but we were ignored and disrespected more than any other people the the bar. We wanted to spend more money but the hostility was so vile we called it and left. We have come to this bar for years but get read of the miserable girl *working* Sunday 7 th Jan 2024

Once in awhile you find a really interesting establishment and this one is a true gem. A great selection of fine wines ,plus some truly amazing quality spirits. The place may seem small and intimate but that is what makes this place so special. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The Dry Martini was very good.Truly a must visit Bar...worth the wait is it is busy.

One of my favourite bars in Melbourne. Love that you can buy a bottle (as it’s a bottle shop) and drink it over there. It’s a tiny space, but love the ambience. Feels like I’m in a library, but instead of books there’s just alcohol. The cocktails here are great too. They make a really good negroni, it’s not very bitter, the flavour differs from standard negronis.

  • Valentina Tan

An intimate bottle shop/bar with great service. Perfect for an after work drink or date night. Big selection of wine to buy (per bottle) and a good selection of top shelf whiskey and gin to boot. Available to buy by the bottles hence its name. Smaller selection available by the glass, but their by the glass offerings are pretty decent.

This is easily one of my favourite bars in the city. It's cosy with a great atmosphere and a spectacular selection of wine and spirits. I also love that they only serve classic cocktails that can be shaken or stirred. Service is always next level amazing, which is why we keep returning. A fave that doesn't disappoint!

  • Santiago Villagra

Incredible bar. 4 starts just because you have to pay a "fee" for drinking a all bottle and it's pretty expensive, $20. So basically you are buying a bottle of $50 but they will charge you $20 more. I'm not pretty sure why. The bar is good and you can try different things. Tiny and warm environment.

  • Grayden Park

Brilliant atmosphere, lovely staff who are incredibly knowledgeable about what they're serving and excited to share their passion. And just a generally awesome selection of both old favourites and boutique spirits, wine and cocktails. So worth the visit.

Great little wine bar and shop. Visited late on a Wednesday night and enjoyed wine by the glass (whatever is open on the day is available by the glass, so changes.) Good selection of wines available to buy by the bottle to take away or drink there ($20 corkage.) Food menu available.

  • Luke Baker

A beautiful and quaint bottle shop where you can sit inside and have drinks made by very professional bartenders, who are experts at suggesting which drinks are worth trying. It's a good spot to stop and have a drink on the way home from work. I couldn't recommend it too highly!

  • Caitlin Murrell

Had the pleasure of stumbling across Bijou on a date night. The guys are so friendly and oh my do they know how to make a good tipple. They made awesome cocktails based on our requests, and the intimate dark academia vibe of the place was ace. Would recommend and will come back!

Nice intimate place with a relaxed atmosphere. No menu when buying wine by the glass so the staff list which wine they have which is fine. Dissapointing that the price is not made clear and costs $24 per glass.

Loved this place, reminded us of being back in Europe visiting a warm and welcoming bar for a quiet little drink in a cosy space. It was a perfect cap to our anniversary evening out. Will certainly go again when we visit Melbourne next time. Thank you.

  • Nathaniel Pemberton

So glad we’ve tried this new place. Amazing, knowledge, charismatic service, with fantastic explanations that complimented the wines, and a great wine selection. Beautiful design too. Can’t wait to spend many future hours of Melbourne nights here.

  • Rowan Dierich

This cosy corner bar and bottleshop is tucked away up Little Collins Street. Several small tables and bar stools sit between windows and tall shelves of tastefully arrayed bottles of everything from wine to spirits. The soft, warm lighting

Always amazing service and attention to detail. Friendly staff and a great rotating wine selection. Definitely don’t give this place a miss even though if you’re not a fan of its sister venues, it’s a whole different ball game of its own!

Amazing little bar/bottle shop. It's like a bookstore transformed into a bar/bottle shop. Small only fits around 16-20 people. You can sit and enjoy a drink or two or buy a bottle. Loved the atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff.

  • lynda williams

What an absolutely fabulous place to spend a few hours! Memorable for the atmosphere created by the floor to ceiling wine and spirits, not to be outdone by the perfect mix of professionalism, knowledge and hospitality of Kelsi.

  • Nathan Croft

Cosy wine bar, lovely staff, extensive selection of wines, plus various bites like cheese platters, Croque Monsieur, charcuterie board. Definitely coming back to sample more of whatever wine happens to be open on another night.

Such a lovely little nook in the city! Friendly staff with great service. The small bites were delish. Can't remember what they're called but my friend and I kept raving about the "sandwich". Will come back again for sure!

Small but fun. A rotating selection on pour with staff that are as friendly and direct as can be. Great range for take away too if you need a drop to take back for further adventures in wine.

4.7 stars. Really nice staff, very cosy and inviting interior, and great cocktails. Corkage fee per person was expensive though. Buy the wines to take home and have a cocktail here instead.
