Great Wine Bar but has very limited food menu as well. It has 9 pages of wines, and the waiter chose a white and red for us based on our tastes. Loud inside and packed full. Including the 2 x tables outside in the cold. Small selection of beers from Burnley Brewing. The Pale Ale comes in 440ml cans so is the best value beer. The food is really tasty and designed to go with your wines. A very pleasant place for having some food with your chosen wine. The kitchen closes around 9.30 - 10pm? And the place closes around 11.30pm. A great find for a pleasant wine and talk and very tasty food to add to the experience.

Used to like this place. Food used to be nice and the service used to be good. I booked a table for 5pm on a Thursday. Got there 4:55 and the waiter told me he was still setting up and I couldn’t come inside. I waited outside. Someone arrived 2 minutes after me and yet was allowed to go inside!!! Pizza was dry and tough. I booked a table for two and when I got there I was told only stools at the bar were available The waiters kept throwing bottles loudly into a big black tub and when you sit at the bar, it is extremely loud. My friend and I kept jumping every time they threw a bottle in there. The Hills has gone downhill and I not be going back.

Atmosphere was nice and there was definitely a great selection of wines (though personally felt that a few more non-alcoholic options that were not Coca Cola would have been nice). Unfortunately our food experience was terrible; there was a very limited selection of pizzas available considering it was dinner and that they market themselves as a pizza-place. The pizzas themselves were extremely burnt, making it impossible to enjoy; the food was way overpriced considering the quantity of food served (small) and the quality (really bad). Overall, the experience, both literally and metaphorically, left us with a bitter taste in our mouths.

Food took forever to come. 25 mins for arancini is a joke. 35 mins for a burned, scarcely topped pizza is an entire standup routine. And given the food was flavourless and barely edible makes this establishment its own Netflix comedy special. The waitress who served me was really lovely and did her best (but was ultimately shut down by management) to discount the bill. $75 for two sloppy arancini, a charcoal flavoured pizza and two glasses of wine is inexcusable, even in the current economy. Support your local pizza shop and bottle-o instead.

I suppose it’s a bit unusual for a spirit/ cocktail girl to be going to a wine bar but I want to a) expand my palate and b) support a local business particularly during extensive train crossing removal works. Here is a gorgeous dessert that I’ve had here - and I can attest that Gabe was amazingly patient and friendly in helping my try out what might be a good wine for me to enjoy - and even so I could enjoy cocktails on the menu regardless. (I’ll work on it little by little next time I visit, promise!) Felt very sophisticated just being there but with a very accessible and personable level of service.

I am a almost a regular at The Hills, love the ambiance and excellent service. Tonight I visited with three others, they have expanded the menu since my last visit and the food was absolutely delicious. 5 stars to the chef and staff. Great night, drinks were great too.

Service was great. Music playing was enjoyable. Environment was tight but cosy. Pizza served was poor. If you are going to charge $20 to $30 for a pizza it should have decent topping, ours was more crust/dough than topping. Great service will not make me a return customer but quality and value for money will. Thank you.

Very expensive wine/beer and food for a tiny local bar with zero atmosphere. $$$$ Service was terrible as 3 time's I had to wave and shout "excuse me" to the bar staff who were serving people before me, even though I patiently waited 5 mins or more before them. It's my local bar and I'm continuously waiting for it to get better. Myself and my guest's were definitely not impressed so I won't be back. So disappointed... I'm done!

Customer service was terrible my partner had a broken stall and wasn’t offfed anything inside to eat and drink. And it wasn’t a pleasant night here I wouldn’t come back here after the service and broken chair we had not worth it wasn’t even offered any compensation for it. When we were sitting outside it feel like no one was there and I didn’t enjoy the chips they were terrible with cheese on it not coming back!!

  • NO WORRY

Just had glass of wine which was good. The server explained well about the wine that helped me to choose what to drink. Have some small snacks and pizza as well. We booked a table for Friday night, but I think walk in could possible too.

Ambiance was what really attracted us but the food was disappointing unfortunately, the marinara pizza barely had any marinara except for anchovy paste and tomato base, it was quite a bit burnt too...not worth the price you pay . Mulled wine and the orange cake was really nice!

Poor service with little knowledge of hygiene. Staff not fully conversant with menu. Wine bar trying to serve over priced finger food. Was that unimpressed with the service and presentation that had to leave before ordering anything. Was going to try the mulled wine but was too far let down by the rest.

Very disappointing experience. The pizza was both burner and undercooked. The arancini could not have had less flavour if they tried. When asked "how was everything", the honest response of "not great" was met with complete apathy. ... if you don't care, then why ask?

The Hills is a beautiful wine bar with a very chilled ambience perfect for a catch up with friends or a date night. Good wine selection, small eats and amazing pizzas! Staff are friendly and know their wines really well, you just may be waiting sometimes though, but the wine and pizza are all worth it. Great venue!

  • Vlad S

Very lazy staff. Rude cook. Completely burnt pizza and was told "take it or leave it". Absolutely rude attitude! Pizza's burnt and taste like cardboard and Ash. I do not recommend this place as no one cares about their job.

The pizza was advertised as having mild chilli on it. Unfortunately on 2 separate pizzas there were pieces of chilli that were so hot it ruined the rest of the pizza and made the wine taste like acid. If you don’t like hot chilli ask for it to be left out. The pizza was- up until that bite - delicious.

Extensive by the bottle wine list and also a good selection of wines by glass of mostly European and Australian origins. The food is tasty and substantial enough to go with all the great wines. Pizza and duck ragu pasta was delicious and the potatoes were super crunchy.

Amazing place to go out with your mates, or even on a date. The Hill's wine bar has around 300 bottles of wine to choose from and a good variety of pizza's to munch. Go ahead book a table, it's just outside Surrey hills station.

  • Sabrina H

I'm not a wine connoisseur but some of the wine that I tried were very very good. Decent amount of wine to select by glass and more options by the bottles. Pizza and share plates were good too. Definitely will come back.

Far overpriced. Pizza dough was good, but overall dry, and far too small. Cocktails very average. $250.00 for 2 people can be spent better elsewhere. Sorry

They seemed to have good wines here and nice staff too It’s in the midst of leafy, hilly Surry Hills hence the name I guess. This is a smooth and easy to drink Australian Pinot Noir …

$48 for two 9in Pizza’s that are overcooked and don’t taste good? This is a scam!
