I purchased a puzzle for my 3 year old at the Brunswick Bound store at the Sydney Road festival. When getting home my daughter who was very excited to do her puzzle realised all the pieces were bent and could not connect. Despite trying DIY things to resolve it, we were unable to get the puzzle to work. I went into the Brunswick bound store yesterday and explained what happened and they said to bring it in and we will send it back. When I brought the puzzle in today I was told they do not exchange or refund sale items. I completely understand this rule applying to books which is their primary item of sale and these can be read even if a book is bent etc, however I struggle to understand the rationale for puzzles with their primary use being to connect together. Additionally I was never informed that the refund/exchange rule applied to damaged items or items that cannot be used which the manager of the store agreed this is not disclosed. It was a very disappointing experience, with the store lacking any flexibility and principle for customer service. I definitely will not be returning to Brunswick Bound.

So where to begin. This bookshop is beautiful and has a very nice cosy and relaxing vibe. Unfortunately that is where my good review ends. It’s a shame that I’m writing this as my mum has hosted her book launch there and I’ve been going here since I was a kid. Quarantine rolled around and I started going more frequently. Two staff members have been very judge mental towards me and made me feel uncomfortable. Not only that they have such a poor collection of books. I know this is an independent bookstore but their shop was a mess. They had not one book series with every book present they either had the second book or last which shows they’re pretty bad at ordering in the books people want/need. I went today and many workers were staring at me and my self harm which is extremely uncomfortable. Long story short a lot of people think y'all be way too snobby. Your bookstore ain’t even that good.

A wonderful small bookshop with a really interesting range of books and other bits and pieces. Including a fairly extensive kids section as well, this is one of our favourite places to visit when looking for gifts. Sometimes the upstairs section with eclectic homewares is also open but ring ahead to make sure it is open if that's the area you want to browse for quirky, stylish and quality gifts for yourself or loved ones. A nice place for aimless browsing, too, but be prepared to want something you find :)

Brunswick Bound is my favourite bookshop. They stock just about everything you could think of, and don't charge an arm and a leg for it either. Their free home delivery has kept me sane during Melbourne lockdown, as have their online events. Such care is taken, and it fosters such a wonderful sense of community. I've always found ordering out of stock books to have a smooth turnaround too. And if I need to buy a gift for someone, BB always has the perfect thing.

I love coming to Brunswick Bound, because unlike so many other bookstores it doesn’t feel like a generic spread of books. Instead it’s a highly curated selection that reflects the personality of the owner. They also have a wonderful system of paying it forward, where you can donate an amount for anyone to later use to pay for their books. Very much a community focus in this store and it makes for all the reasons I keep coming back.

It is always a treat coming to Brunswick Bound. The staff are very helpful. There is plenty to browse, and I'm always spending more time than planned (and usually buying more books than anticipated). The different books they feature at the front of the store certainly gives them a delightful feel and vibe compared to the typical chain bookstore.

Outstanding service! Last minute COVID isolation needing Father’s Day gift. Despite missing cutoff and rainy Friday night, manager personally delivered books to our doorstep - what compassion! And of course, I must say that BB is also a genuinely quality source of books and gifts! …

A decent micro-selection of science and philosophy books, but way too much emphasis on fiction books in the rest of the shop. When asked, they can't seem to find books which they say are in stock, and they don't call if they find them. Better to make the trip into Hill of Content Bookshop instead.

  • Claire Shepley

Pretty poor customer experience. Wouldn’t give me a refund on a purchase I made 2 hours prior. There’s nothing that states in the store that refunds aren’t available and the staff don’t inform you of that either, even though the range of books they offer is really limited. Approach with caution.

  • Tara Laursen

Lovely shop, but some of the staff members seemed like they just didn't really want anyone to actually be in the shop. It's crammed full so it's really hard to browse without having staff getting grumpy that you may be in their way (this was last month, so before all the xmas madness)

  • Rade Cosic

Just had the MOST AMAZING EVER customer experience just then. Megan not sure I have spelt your name right but thank you again so very much and can't wait to come and visit the store and properly shop once restrictions are lifted. Thank you again so much! Superstar!

Good seletion of gardening books. Fast dispatch and well packed. I am very satisfied with my purchases when other online bookstores took 1 month to inform me that the book that I ordered was out of print... I will definitely recommend BrunswickBound to my friends.

  • Abby Cone

Brunswick Bound have been an absolute life saver during COVID-19 and have gone above and beyond to get books out to the local community. Their selection of books is wonderful, they are super responsive and lovely via email and are just great to deal with.

  • Alyssa Donald

Spectacular service and highly recommend. I ordered books on Sunday night and they had arrived by lunchtime Monday, and gift wrapped (I live in the free delivery zone). I couldn't have asked for the purchase to be any quicker or smoother. Thank you!

  • Christina L

First time customer, and impressed by the service. I ordered 2 books online yesterday, and they arrived today via their free, local, "Covid-19 Deliveries". I look forward to visiting the shop in person after pandemic restrictions are lifted.

  • Maija Okeeffe

Love this book store, good vibes, helpful and friendly staff and free gift wrapping!!! Way better service then Readings and the staff are always happy to order any books you are itching to read. Wish I could give this store more stars!!!

  • Allie Levine

Such a lovely local bookshop - they're doing an amazing job during Covid also. I literally ordered a book late this afternoon, and it was hand delivered to my house a minute ago (8:45pm!). Where on earth do you get that kind of service!

  • Matt Steele

A good bookshop with a good selection. It can be a struggle to find stuff that's standard in most bookshops, this kids section is especially lacking. I find myself going there fairly often though so I can't fault it really.

  • S B

Very helpful people working there. Lots of books to browse covering current interesting and challenging topics, and that real book smell that captures your imagination. Just you try and not spend double your budget!

  • huw Vellacott

Fantastic range and good advice. Suzie and Rob have also been happy to get in unusual titles for me, and recently went above and beyond to help me out when I lost a gift voucher. A great independent book shop!

  • norman charles

All hail the local bookshop. Brunswick Bound always has a surprising range of books I've never heard of before, but instantly covert. Also supports smaller locally produced zines and short story collections.

  • Nat Walker

I love this little bookshop. A great selection including lots of local books about Melbourne and Australia. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Plus cool little jewellery and stationery so always good for gifts!

  • Chandi Wijesinghe

It's like you stepped into a magical attic your 12 year old self imagined when reading CS Lewis. Except the helpful staff & fantastic stock are great for inquisitive & imaginative minds of all ages.

  • Jordi Nugent

Every time i go into this book shop, i get lost in there for hours. Amazing service when needed/wanted but able to go about browsing in peace. Personal favourites are the quirky coffee table books.

  • Gaelle Meade

Such a beautiful bookshop but some of the staff is so rude here it hurts my soul! I ended up buying something to encourage local bookshops, definitely not for the help I received! Disappointing!

  • Linda

Wonderful book store. I was able to purchase a book there after being told it would be very hard to find anywhere, by larger stores in the city. I love having this local gem in our community.

  • Tho Ngoc Tang

Not a book lover myself but seems like a great place for whoever is interested in reading. Great range of books although I was looking for notebooks and they were greatly overpriced.

  • Myra Scholze

Lovely bookstore with a wide selection of children's and adult books across all genres. The owner is very kind and was so helpful in recommending a couple of books for my baby niece.

  • Jim Irvine

Interesting book shop, hard to leave without buying something. Beautiful selection of books, with a reality great children's section at the back. Also a nice selection of jewellery.

It's a great book shop. A good selection of different books. I managed to ask and receive the book that I was after. I also found 2 x extra books. I love gifting books to others.

  • HeldBack

Kind of like Black Books but the staff are the complete opposite of Bernard Black. Friendly and super helpful. Avoid the chains. Visit a real book shop like this one.

  • James C

Yeah man, this place rocks. By far my favourite book store local to my area. Super friendly people and a nice environment. Clerk always has fresh fashion choices.

  • Ed Griffiths

Great range of somewhat-niche books on arts, DIY, science etc, along with mainstream selection. Lovely, helpful staff. Small but solid selection of gift items.

  • Charlie Stamatogiannis

the person working today (forgive me for not knowing your name) was so so lovely and incredibly helpful when I asked for advice on buying a gift! thank you :)

  • Stephanie McLeay

Broad and interesting array of books at good prices. I've had so many wonderful and unusual finds that I would not have come across if not for browsing here.

Great local bookstore. Life of the high street. Great selection of all genres, particularly children's books from my point of view. Also reasonably priced.

Amazing selection and curation. Loved the variety of art, music, nature, science and fiction books. End up going twice while we were in Brunswick …

I get stuck looking at the books here for ages. If you want a book about Brunswick or the inner North, this is the place. Support local

  • Ross Andrews

Nice little local bookstore. Only negative is the lack of category titles on shelving areas. Slow to find stuff in a busy store.

  • Craig Coffey

This is a great little bookstore in brunswick. Excellent range and very good kids section. Staff very happy to help. Buy local.

  • Paul Bridge

So good to be in a real bookstore! A great range of books and tunes and always happy to order in what's not in stock.

  • Thomas Reiner

Not sure how you can run a book shop with this sort of off-standish service. Maybe I picked the wrong shop assistant.

  • Alex Mortensen
