If you like drunk women attacking you and then having them throw you out then this is the place for you. Seriously, in an attempt to keep a drunk women from attacking my friend, who was admittedly a little intoxicated, I was thrown out. Mind you this person pushed me hard enough to knock off my glasses and before I could even bend down to grab my glasses the front door man was trying tackle me. WTF. Even after he grabed me and I explained that he clearly did not know what was going on but that I am happy to leave they were still trying to man handle me without letting me at least pick up my glasses and grab my coat. It seems odd that they would allow a drunk women to attack me and them throw me out.

I went here last night and I would give this place no stars if I could. Aside from the stinch in that place the bouncers walk around starting fights with people before conflict has even started. I watched two guys get in an argument and before they could resolve their own problem a bouncer walks up and puts one of the guys in a headlock and then drug him out of the bar. I understand taking care of problems as they present themselves but these two guys literally had no physical contact whatsoever and there were NO signs that there would be. Not to mention I look at my bill from last night and I was charged $25 for two small beers... Don't waste your time or money on this hyped up piece of garbage.

Shady. For two (2) days noticed a $25 charge on my bank app from here. Then it dropped off and in came the real charge amount for the evening. Called banking institution they asked "what happened at this establishment?" Why? Because they see a "reversal" for $25. Bank said someone manually has to reverse on a POS - like a void. They authorize your card for an amount when you run a tab.Then reverseve it at the end of the night CHANGING your available balance. Your bank doesnt know this and deducts it like any other charge. It will strart a chain reaction and not a good one. Nowhere else does this happen. Name one. Shady is the word. Plus staff has bad atittudes. Really bad. Foul.

Sometimes when I'm rehashing the past 37 years I think of all the bars I've been in. I've been literally to hundreds of bars. Buzzards Beach stands out amongst all of them. The first time I went there a Tom Waits song and a Nick Cave song played back to back. When I asked the bartender who played those songs he replied "I did. It's my personal playlist and if you don't like it get the $^@$ out." It was then I knew I'd found the right spot. They also have one of the best collections of urinal art you'll find anywhere in America. Give the Buzzard a chance. Breath it in. Let it take care of you.

Place was absolutely packed for a week night average crowd seemed to be age 21-25 but there were enough old dudes to balance it out. Locals were not thrilled about tourists being there but tolerant, I could agree to the grumpy bar tender statements in other reviews. The patios were nice in the summer time. The skateboards on the wall, although they appear to be well used are not for borrowing for kick flips in the back alley and apparently belong to "regulars" who leave them there for safe keeping.

It is what it is, and it is a dive bar - as advertised! No food, the place is a little dirty, the bartenders can be likably grumpy, and there is a real possibility of odors. That being said, the drinks are fair pours for a fair price, good selection of beers, and a diverse crowd that is welcoming and lively. Always good people to meet and chat with. Many other people and myself dig it. You will have to form your own opinion!

I like Buzzard Beach. On Sunday's when there's no place else to go, it's open til 3am. Cool laid back atmosphere with a pretty nice crowd, unless they get crowded, then it's crazy but they do have an outdoor part to chill in. Plays different types of genre music, an the drinks are ok, altho they dnt serve much cognac which I like. Overall it's cool but bathrooms aren't well kept...

One of the true dive bars left in Westport, Buzzard Beach has a habit of flooding when it rains, being way too hot when it's midly warm outside, and the pool tables roll slightly to the left: it doesn't matter where you are actually aiming, the ball will roll left. The beer is cold, the barkeeps are good, and it's far north enough from the Plaza and Waldo that those people generally don't come here. It's almost perfect.

I'm the kind of person who likes quiet, classy spots (see Kill Devil or Green Lady). My friends, however, are Westport junkies. Bear this in mind; just because this bar isn't my thing doesn't mean you won't love it. It's a little dirty, bathrooms are cramped, and bartenders can be a bit grumpy. However, my friends and I still had a lot of fun. If you've got enough alcohol in your system, the negatives fall away.

We went on a Saturday night and went back again on a Sunday night. We sat upstairs both nights at the bar. Saturday night was not real busy and we had a good time. Sunday night, same thing but they had a band playing and the place got real busy. The bartenders were GREAT. We had a good time both nights and will be back for sure the next time were in K.C. MO. We loved the fact that smoking is done outside.

In my humble opinion...the best bar in KC. Between the two bars that each offer their own unique atmosphere and experience, the serving staff that will bring your drinks to you on the patio and the door staff that always make me feel welcome, and go out of their way to provide a safe environment for all....Buzzard Beach has always lived up to it's boast of being KC's only five star dive bar.

It was ok for a dive bar... Dirty, smelly, just the way it's been for 30 years... Lol... Always have fun there... From just watching..Some of the door men are a lil high on there horse... Too cool for school... But kinda comes with the territory... I'm a doorman, fear my great power...I remember being younger..I might go back there again... Maybe... Someday....

Terrible customer service by bouncers. Instead of helping cool down a bad situation their bouncers continued to fuel the fire of the bad situation. Even when we were trying to diffuse the situation they kept always having to get the last word in. I will definitely make an effort to inform others to stay away as there are a lot of other bars in the area.

Buzzard beach is buzzard beach. The patio is always well served and drinks rarely take long waits. The staff is friendly and quick, even on busy nights. You'll find a diverse array of patrons unlike some other establishments in Westport. Biggest con is the small and dirty bathrooms, and the typical rowdiness and lack of parking that plagues Westport .

Really cool bar with a really cool set up. Upstairs is a bar with a dart board and a covered deck outside. Downstairs is a bar with pool tables, arcade machines, and shuffle board. They have a multicade machine with a ton of different games on it. They also have a galaga and pac man machine combo. There are a few pinball machines as well.

The workers here have always been really nice to me. I have seen complaints about the bouncers and being too rough with the guests, but with all of the bad fights that have gone down in there, it is only to be expected. Sometimes can be a rough crowd, but have met nothing but nice people in my experience.

The bouncers indeed pick fights and the patrons are mostly posers from the suburbs. If you're not a cool kid stay away. And just look at how these hipsters shamelessly inflate this bar's rating! The only real reviews are 1 star, interspersed between all the 5 start reviews that have no explanation.

Good place to go for a more chill vibe vs a club. However they will put a $25 charged hold on your debit card even if you buy just one drink! It does go off after a few days but it took a while after. overall a good place to hang out if you don't mind a $25 dollar scare after ordering one beer lol

Buzzard is a great dive bar and a good place to meet friends for happy hour. You have to be chill and if you're looking for perfect bathrooms or fruity drinks, it's not for you. Hence, the best dive bar in Kansas City! Love the location and close to walk around Westport. Yay Buzzard Beach!

Might not seem like much to the eye but this place of fun and good times! I have yet to actually have a bad time or meet a terriable staff. Fully recommended if new to town and looking for friends or a good night with GREAT priced drinks. Jay of the Shadow OUT!

Alright place. Ok service. Uncomfortable bar stools. Hipster customers ( bad in my book, but if your thing, rock on with your PBR). This place really seems to think it's tough, but total hipster. But, nice people, clean joint, just an environment preference.

Definition of a hole in the wall. With that being said they have tiny bathrooms, cheap heavy drinks, and a fun atmosphere. Lots of fun would recommend. They have 3 pool tables, 2 pinballs, one big buck Hunter and a few other games. Multilevel bar.

Great place for some out of the norm cocktails. Good punk-rock or indy music you know and love. Large shots and cheap beers. Ask for a Bergen Malt: it is a signature plunger shot that tastes like a vanilla malt. Good times. Good people.

I've been calling everyday for the last couple of weeks and they will not pick up the phone. I've even had other people try to call. It just rings and rings. I get it if your busy but two weeks straight in a row is blatant disregard.

Total local dive bar the drinks are OK selection not that great the downstairs part has a funky oder. On the upside the place is always busy on weekends the staff is friendly diverse crowd,there is an outside deck. I would go back.

Love that there is a downstairs with pool/games. I've been coming here for awhile but never knew that, excited to go hang out more in the basement. I had a tequila sunrise here that was 90% tequila but I can't complain.

Ordered 2 beers on a Tuesday. Tab was $7.50 and I tipped $5. They added another $5 to the tip unbeknownst to me until I saw the final charge post as $17.50 to my card. I recommend keeping your copy of the receipt.

This place is just a good old dive bar. Prices are reasonable and they have a few old school pinball and arcade games in the basement along with a bar. The bathrooms, however, are almost always filthy.

It's that bar that everyone sees each other at! Cheap wells, nice atmosphere, great for smokers (not always great for non-smokers, but it's nice inside). The bathrooms are iconic for their art.

My friend practically lives here, so we go whenever I'm in town. They usually play good music, they have cheap drinks, and it feels like a bar. Foosball is king, but they also have pool.

Buzzard is my favorite bar in Westport! The bartenders are nice, drinks are good and I enjoy the atmosphere. It's a good place to hang out, make new friends and play some pool.

Don't trust them with credit cards, I went to a happy hour on Thursday, ordered about 6 drinks, priced at $1.50, and they ended up charging $25 on my account the next day.

Bartenders complaint and only on his word and a man gets fired...who says the bartender is truthful and made up the story. I will never patronize that sleazy place again.

Not the cleanest place in the world, especially the bathroom, so it's not for everyone. But the bar is well staffed, and it's just an overall low key place to hang out.
