Took in a 2 week old kitten that was found in our backyard. We were keen on nursing him and eventually keeping him as our own. Unfortunately, due to fears that we would not be able to give him the care he needed, we decided to take him into CARE. We called multiple local vets prior who said they would euthanise and CARE assured us this will only happen if the kitten is severely unwell. He seemed healthy and in good shape. We took him in on a Saturday night and asked about the process. They advised us that the kitten will be nursed until Monday, where it will be transported to Lost Dogs Home via Yarra Council. We informed them of our interest to adopt and filled out a form. They said this will be possible after it is sent to LDH and foster cared for 10 weeks. On Monday, we contacted LDH and they confirmed they did not receive the kitten. They later contacted Yarra on our behalf and again confirmed the kitten was never received. We contacted CARE and they said that we signed a surrender form that highlights no further information can be provided on the animal once this is done. We don’t recall seeing this. We then asked again if it was sent to the lost dogs home to which they said yes, but later admitted only one cat was sent and LDH confirmed this to be a black cat, the one we brought in was ginger/blonde. When we asked if it was euthanatised and on what grounds, they refused to tell us and were so insensitive, later hanging up the phone. We really wanted this kitty and had travelled at 2am to try and get him the help he needs, from what it seems. We suspect he was put down. Absolutely disgusted with how CARE responded to this. Had we known, we would have taken the risk and cared for him ourselves, at least. that way he gets a chance of life. They refused to answer any questions regarding the welfare and whereabouts of the kitten. To think that CARE was a place that CARED! We had even shouted them out on our social media afterward as we were incredibly happy about them having taken him on. Again, council and LDH both confirmed they never received the kitten, so our suspicions remain that CARE is allegedly responsible for an unnecessary euthanasia or has misplaced the kitten.
Dear CARE Team, Our Jack Russell Jackson has recently had spinal surgery at your facility. I just wanted to take a moment and share with you our experience of working with some of your team members. Dr. Dana Leben was responsible for our initial consultation. She gave us lots of information in a really clear and empathetic manner which helped with our decision making process. Dana could obviously sense our apprehension in having surgery and at no time made us feel pressured into making a fast decision before we were sure with how to proceed. When we returned a day or so later we were met by Dr. Jon Katzman who also was very clear in explaining our options and also the potential costs and risks of proceeding with the surgery option. Dr. Brenton Chambers was the surgeon who worked on Jackson late in the evening on New Year’s Day which no doubt took him away from his family which is greatly appreciated. Brenton followed up with us over the days post-surgery and kept us informed of Jackson’s progress at all times. When we collected Jackson on Tuesday Brenton spent additional time explaining everything that had been done and what we needed to do at home as well as what to expect going forward. One of the most impressive aspects of working with your team is the way they all seem to be aware of what is going on with the animals in your care. Carol Fewster in your admin team and the other admin folks we spoke with all seem to communicate well with the Doctors which is often not the case in larger organisations. Despite this having been a rather stressful time, it has been made much more bearable by working with such a professional team. THANK YOU and Congratulations on the team you have developed. We initially became aware of CARE via a very enthusiastic reference from a family friend. We will certainly be recommending your organisation to anyone else we hear of who is looking for high quality care for their pets. Thanks again and we hope you have a successful and safe 2021. PS. Jackson is making a very successful recovery since returning home.
Thanks to the team at CARE vet, our cat Bean didn't die. We couldn't be more grateful for everything they did for him. More than that, he's made a full recovery and is back to his happy cuddly self. We're so grateful for the attention and amazing care he received, and the way that everyone was really patient and gentle with us (stressed and upset owners). Bean was no doubt a rude and growling menace the whole time they were trying to treat him but they didn't hold that against him at all. They even made the tricky decision to discharge Bean early after his surgery, due to the fact that he gets immensely stressed at the vet, and his condition is worsened by stress. I think this decision was instrumental in his recovery and we saw substantial improvement every single day since we brought him home. They also continued to keep in touch with us after he was discharged, making sure he was recovering and that he had enough medication. Every step of the way, the team was concerned, thoughtful and considerate of his specific needs, I don't think they could have possibly done a better job. I would highly recommend this vet hospital to anyone if your cat is in a life-threatening situation. Be prepared that this is an emergency service, it can be really expensive and there can be long wait times. I appreciate that the staff were really transparent (and even apologetic) about costs, which helped us plan in advance how to afford Bean's care. I was also comforted by the way they triage the animals - even though our cat had a full urinary obstruction (life threatening situation), there was another cat that came in after us who was having seizures and needed to be seen first, which they took the time to explain to us. This comforted me because they were prioritising cases based on severity, and I knew if at some point Bean critically needed their attention he would seen to asap. I'm so glad we brought him here. Thank you again! <3
CARE vets and reception/triage team absolutely demonstrate that they love their jobs. Whether I have taken pets in at 11pm, 2am or 3pm, the team give the impression of well-co-ordinated and mutually respectful teamwork. They are rushed off their feet, and still triage effectively, prioritising patients according to health status. I recently took in a hypoglycaemic kitten who was expelling a massive worm load, who had begun spasming and whose body temp didn't register on the thermometer. They kept her for care and observation for 24 hours - just about every team member I met said that the kitten was a joy, they were so happy to see her rebound so strongly, that she was a completely different kitten from the day before. That's when you know CARE teams love animals: they're all checking on the animals, even when they just walk past. That enables a type of multi-disciplinary care, more opinions and more observations. It also makes the place feel less sterile, and more about providing loving clinical care. CARE is expensive; you get what you pay for. You will have to wait because so many of us value their skills and love of our pets. Humans don't speak the furbabies' languages yet so the ability to diagnose precisely and treat miraculously has boundaries. CARE is worth it. Once I went in with a furbaby I eventually had to put to sleep, and I'm not proud of my heart-broken behaviour. CARE resolutely continued its clinical recommendations. They suggested specialists, which helped me but didn't change much ultimately. I still cry thinking of that kitty (crying now). I wanted miracles. Time to adult. CARE's teamwork must help them deal with and heal from such interactions. They must feel the pain we feel. CARE Vets **and reception/triage team** are an empathetic, clinically highly skilled, efficient and respectful team who deliver the best possible care in emergency circumstances.
DO NOT DROP A DOG OFF HERE!!! GO TO ANY ANOTHER VET!!!! Absolutely appalling service and treatment. They told us they have received no dogs there for the night and then we had proof they had so called back 9 minutes later and they said the dog had already been collected by the pound. The staff were disrespectful and rude. I made many attempts to gain clear understanding and knowledge of what was going on and they weren’t even able to assist me with that. The dog was microchipped and registered and we were told that they only call the owners of the dog is injured but the laws changed in October 2022 to allow the vet to call the owner (I don’t understand why they called the pound but couldn’t call the owner). We have been informed that this vet makes the choice not to call the owners and other vets choose too in the area. I was and am appalled of the treatment of this vet and I highly recommend you stay away and never drop off a dog there. I also explained that I am very unwell in hospital and that I just needed them to help me with some information and that was too much. They told me also to contact Yarra council number and I said that they would be shut, they said just wait and they will put you through to the emergency line… the emergency line said to contact 000… that was obviously a way of of ending a conversation Absolutely appalling and they are not there to serve the community Also when posting this on social media I have become aware that this isn’t an isolated case and even paying clients receive bad treatment
I don’t usually partake in reviews but felt strongly to write an honest review here with our trip to CARE 24hr Emergency vets on Hoddle street Collingwood. Absolute thanks to the vet Summie that saw us for our consult today. Summie you spoke with such knowledge, articulation about what you were assessing our dog for, thoroughness with your examination, a calmness and with reassurance. The fact that you also gave sound alternatives in response to our pets needs and in no way made us feel like you were pushing expensive alternatives also comes with us feeling a sense of greater respect for your practice. We all know how costly vet visits can be and no one wants to pay for expensive procedures that might not be necessary. So once again thank you Summie for being very professional. I write this review because of the stress and worry you have as an owner when you are rushed to take your pet to an emergency vet wanting to make sure they receive the best attention. Even though we weren’t seen Straight away and had a fairly long wait it’s remembering that there are other pets that are either already being treated before your arrival, take preference of importance of who needs attention first or not enough hands. We were still in a place where we rather quite comfortable. Thank goodness you had refreshments in the way of tea and coffee. Being awake for 24hrs it was a great revival. We recommend ‘CARE’ EMERGENCY VETS COLLINGWOOD if you’re ever in need of emergency care. Hopefully your not in that position But if you are…
I wanted to write this review because I think it's important for pet owners to make decisions about their beloved animals themselves and that sometimes, putting animals down just because they are in pain isn't always the best solution. 4 years ago around Xmas time, I found our 5-year old family cat crying out loud and looking at me like he needed support. Since it was a Friday night, our usual vet is closed and we were advised to come to the CARE veterinary hospital. Long story short, 4 stressful days later of cat having had $10,000 worth of assessments done (x-rays, ultrasounds etc etc), we were advised to put our cat down because the cat was not allowing the vet to touch him and the vet couldn't work out what was the cause of his pain. Mum had to take the money out from her mortgage to pay for his medical bill. I found it strange to put an animal down since we don't know what is the cause of his pain. I visited our cat every day for at least 1/2 hour each time and every time, even tho he was in much pain, he wanted to be on my lap to cuddle, and I knew he wanted to live. So I decided not take the vet's advice and asked her to see if there's anything else they could do. She put him on antibiotics and he started to show signs of improvement immediately....... We were asked to take him home and continue with the antibiotics - at 9 years old today, he's living his best life and bringing lots of joy to my parents. :) And I'm thankful I trusted my instincts.
Professional, thorough, compassionate. My very old cat had become profoundly unwell. She wasn't great all week, and had been to another emergency clinic twice already. When they were diverting clients to other facilities, we came to CARE. This experience was much different to her prior emergency visits, which were well-intentioned but more rushed, just trying to get her stable enough to get her out again. At CARE, the receptionists were kind and attentive. The vets (we saw an overnight and a daytime vet) were thorough, generous, and compassionate. They ran some tests then talked me through possible diagnoses, suggested possible underlying causes, and once armed with information, they outlined treatment options and costs. We opted to have her admitted and treated/monitored overnight. When my cat went downhill overnight despite the best possible care, they called me promptly and walked me through the situation. They were clear, kind, and supportive. When we went in to see her over the rainbow, the staff were immeasurably thoughtful and kind. It was the best possible experience at the worst possible time. I'm so grateful for what they do and how they do it. It made a very stressful and difficult situation much easier to cope with. I don't think I'd take my animals anywhere else in crisis. Thanks, CARE team. You made one hell of a difference to us and to Scout ❤
I had to take 2 senior cats to CARE in a span of just over a year. Both were euthanised. It's the one thing any pet owners wouldn't want to do if there are better options. Both times every staff from receptionist through to the veterinarians expressed great understanding and empathy. I didn't feel rushed in the process. They didn't show concern how long I'd take to say goodbye. On a latter occasion I was even offered fur clippings when the vet saw that I was collecting my baby's lose fur from her leg shaving for IV tube. The compassion shown to me at the tough times was more than I could ask for. I heard stories from my friends that they were pressured into euthanising their pet at their chosen vet while they were drowning in tears, I'm so grateful that none of the CARE staff did that. With my first cat I was advised to help him cross the rainbow bridge but I insisted otherwise, the vet who worked him was really understanding and assured me she would do her absolute best even though she knew the successful outcome was highly unlikely. When I resolved to put him to sleep, she offered me a hug in the end :'| I highly recommend CARE to all pet owners. The level of care and emotional support received is exceptional.
DO NOT HAND IN LOST DOGS HERE, go to a different vet. It is CARE's policy and procedure that they will call the pound straight away, (Lost dogs home North Melbourne). They will not hold the dog or even call the owner on the microchip, Thanks to the fb community we found out our dog was handed in here at 9:30pm, we instantly rung the vet and shared the description of the dog including the microchip number however they refused to give us any information. At 9:45pm we were told by the Vet that they handed our dog in to the pound, where he is now staying the night. We could have picked up our dog even quicker than the 15min it took for the Lost dogs home North Melbourne to arrive which is where he is now. It takes no more effort to ring the number on the microchip than it does to ring the pound, not only this but we actually rung the vet ourselves. (As from October 22nd the law states vets are encouraged to contact the owner of the microchip to say their dog has been brought in, however CARE vet follow their own (unethical) policies and procedures as advised by them on the phone). Disgraceful and unethical service.
I have no words to describe how grateful we are to Dr. Linda, the cat specialist. We were referred to her with two of our cats, at different times, when other vets couldn't provide any further help. We had lost hope, but against all odds, both times Dr. Linda treated and saved our cats. Now, they are growing old, surpassing anyone's expectations, with both cats being over 13 years old and counting. Dr. Linda's passion for her job is evident, and she never suggests unnecessary tests or treatments. She even took the time to call us multiple times to check on our cat's progress while on a new treatment. The price for a regular check-up might be higher compared to other places, but it is definitely worth it. It is true that sometimes there might be a wait, as emergencies or longer appointments with other patients can cause delays. However, I completely understand and it doesn't bother me. The hospital operates 24/7, so you can call anytime. The receptionists are also lovely and helpful. Thank you, Dr. Linda, and the entire Care Vet team! We hope to continue seeing you for many more years to come.
It's tough to find a great Vet, all the research and reviews you can read and you can still have doubts. I dove in head first with CARE for the sake on my dog with a large mass in his neck and I cannot give CARE enough praise. I was referred to CARE after an initial consultation with my reguar vet. The first consult with CARE really helped ease my dog and my anxiety as my dog was going in for what I would say was major surgery and CT scans. The Vet surgeon was calming, reassuring and my nervous dog seemed really comfortable after a while. Less than a week later my dog was in and out of surgery and back home all within 24 hours. My regular Vet said my dog would be on a 6 week waiting list for surgery after the consult. CARE did the consult, surgery and overnight stay all within a week! Amazingly urgent service from CARE. I was shocked to see how energetic and healthy my dog was after surgery. The staff were great, helpful and informative. The surgeon was excellent, the area operated was clean and I just cannot recommend CARE enough. Thank you CARE staff.
I called up earlier in the day to confirm that this was a 24 hour clinic as my cat has been sick for a few days, they told me that I was able to come in around 10:30-11 but there would be a bit of a wait which I was fine with as I just wanted my cat to be seen. I get there around 10:30 to have my cat checked out, I was told to wait outside because I didn't have a mask which I was fine with and the receptionist told me she would grab me a mask, again fine with that. She then comes out and asks me why is was there, I explained to her that my cat had been vomiting for a few days now and then she told me that it didn't seem life threatening and they were just taking severe cases, no follow up questions were asked and she told me that she would instead give me some numbers for other vet clinics around the area that would be able to help me instead. I will NOT be taking either of my cats here if I have another problem, it shouldn't matter if my cat is just a little sick or not I should've still had a chance to get the helped that she needed.
Had to make an emergency visit last night around 9pm as my dog had managed to consume some unattended chocolate cake. The staff could not have been more helpful, kind and prompt. The basic consultation fee is $185 which is very reasonable for a late night consultation. I could easily imagine if I went to a vet where the on-call staff need to come in that consult fee could be double or more. Then I simply had to pay for the medications required for my dogs treatment. The Vet who spoke with me was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain the situation to me as well as multiple options that I could choose from. I was able to get parking right out front along Hoddle St, but I saw a poster inside that said they had additional parking out back. So dont think because its in the city that its not accessible. I would certainly recommend this vet, particularly for any out of hours care you may need. I hope I dont ever need to take my dog in for emergency care, but if I do, this is where I will take her.
My experience of Care Veterinary Hospital has left me asking why did the hospital not provide more information. I sign my cat in for care and next day was not allowed to bring him home . I was yelled at to make a decision to continue treatment or enthusianize my cat I needed to firstly overcome the overwhelming vet she talked fast loud and seemed annoyed I expected more care from her I did not not need to be rushed into any decisions. I did not find any compassionate qualities with this vet I ask myself why is this vet lacking the support to the owner of the cat This experience dealing with the rushed loud pushy vet is one I will never have to endure again .It will not be the place that I will ever take a pet again .It is clearly seen this hospital is pushed for time .There is no calm and this place and it reflects in the vets attitude . Slow it done at Care and give the owner time to reflect to make a decision without been rushed .A bit of compassion too would not go astray.
Our puppy. Riley, is currently in the hospital at CARE after ingesting something he shouldn’t have. Since 3:30pm yesterday when the decision was made to admit him, the team has gone above and beyond to reassure us and keep us updated. Phone calls at 10pm last night and 9:30am this morning to let us know how he’s progressed and what they’re doing, and a text message from the doctor AFTER HIS SHIFT to confirm the diagnosis and update again on the treatment plan — despite Dr. Jarryd having finished a long shift at midnight — are far more than we were expecting and so, so very welcome. The reception staff is always kind and warm towards us, and the doctors always thorough, calm and kind (the latter two super important for two paw-rents suffering from severe anxiety at the best of times). I’m so glad we live local to this hospital. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my puppy. Everyone working at CARE is a genuine legend, and I’m so grateful to them for all they do.
Thank you for taking care of Jiaojiao. And thank you for watching out for all the poor little animals in needs! The staffs are very friendly and keen to help. Doctors are professional and willing to explain everything to you. Waiting time is actually quite short given this is a very busy clinic with many poor little patients:( A reminder to other cat owners: if possible, bring some cushion, toys or Feliway spray which can make your kitty feel safe. I trust the clinic has done its best to create a safe environment for all patients but it is an emergency vet hospital so there will always be situations that out of control. and due to the pandemic you cannot stay inside with your pet during the consultation. So you need to prepare your kitty for the potential uncomfortable environment since cats can be very sensitive and emotional overwhelmed especially when they are sick and upset.
My little Cruizer boy had a traumatic accident one weekend and we rushed him to Care. Obviously I was super distressed, you could even say hysterical, covered in blood and tears, but the nurses/reception there were so on the ball, they took him in quickly and triaged him and did all the necessary diagnostics and interventions and wrapped him up nicely. A little more than 6 weeks down the track he is fully recovered and back to his spunky little self. We are forever grateful to CARE and the team and Stella who was the vet, for being ever so honest and compassionate. On that day I was so so anxious and obviously I turned to google reviews to find some comfort during a pet emergency and I can guarantee your fur babies are in good hands here! Lots of love and thank you ❤️
I was extremely disappointed with the service at this 24-hour emergency vet in Collingwood. Despite my dog's clear signs of pain and discomfort, symptoms were swollen face, eye he could no longer see out of as it was so swollen. I was told that no one could see him for over an hour, or possibly even two hours, due to the staff being in between shifts. This is unacceptable for a clinic that is marketed as a 24-hour emergency clinic. I ended up taking my dog to my local vet in Richmond, where the service was excellent and my dog was seen immediately. My vet in Richmond told me it was a time critical condition and was necessary I got him in first thing to them. I do not recommend this 24 hour vet in Collingwood and will not be taking my dog back there."
Thank you to the team at CARE, I had to make an emergency visit at 3am. Prior to numerous phone calls where they helped provide information and guidance on best home care for my dog. Upon arrival the receptionist was so kind and caring in her greeting and even greeted me by name due to my phone calls. He was seen by a nurse quite quickly to triage the urgency of his needs, she was compassionate and caring and after an hour wait a vet was able to see to us. Her examination was thorough and you could tell she really was trying to provide the best options regarding his care. After a sleepless night and help from all the staff he is back home and feeling much better, thank you to the entire team that worked in that 12 hour period and took care of him.
I just want to say thank you to (I believe her name is) Tegan from CARE. I called in a panic as my sweet baby suddenly crossed the rainbow bridge last night. She talked my partner and I through how to do chest compressions and mouth to mouth on a dog as we desperately tried to save him, and gently told us that he was gone. When I called back a little later for some advice on what to do next, she was fantastic. She explained how to care for our beautiful doggie Dragon overnight after he had passed, and even explained prices for cremation services to me. She went above and beyond in her kindness while my partner and I were going through one of the most heartbreaking moments of our lives and I’ll never forget it. Thank you so very much.
Words can’t even explain how much appreciation and gratitude I have for the CARE team. Two visits. A year apart. Both during lockdowns and curfews. From initial call to getting there and getting our little girl treated both times, the whole process was absolutely faultless. All team members from the reception staff to ICU and treating vets were absolutely amazing. Caring. Calming. Compassionate. And quick to get on top of her care. While updating me and her usual Vet throughout. It scares me to think what I would have to do if I didn’t have their facility and fabulous staff available. Thank you team CARE for all you do and keep up the bloody good work
Incredibly welcoming, caring, skilled and professional place. But, please be aware - the costs are steep. An overnight stay for my pet cost approx. $1600. It was an emergency at 5am, so I didn't have any choice, but definitely best to check in with your local vet first, in case they have simpler assessment and treatment options. For an elderly animal especially, that sort of cost might be better directed towards supporting animal welfare organisations or adopting a younger animal. PS: Some other reviews have described the reception staff as hostile - my experience was completely the opposite - incredibly warm and attentive, whether in person or over the phone.
VERY BAD EXPERIENCE- I had to take my pets to this hospital in an emergency. I called them and reception told me its a bit of wait even though my regular clinic had sent them all the required information. On arrival, I was advised that there is 2 hrs wait. After 3 hrs, I was advised that I am next in the queue. My dogs were tired and sick but nobody cared and no vet came out to talk to us. After 4 hrs, vet came out and said that we have to wait longer and was very rude with no sympathy for my pets condition. Its butcher house with no CARE for pets. We had to leave with 2 sick dogs and no appointment after 4 hours waiting. I give them ZERO rating.
The staff here were wonderful, from the phone line, reception, best nurses and beer themselves; they were caring, attentive, careful with my Charlie and I kinda wish the vet I saw worked at my local clinic as they were so thorough in checking her over to make sure her injury was not a break. They also picked up a medical condition (heart murmur) which had not been picked up by my local vet just a week prior and provided sensible advice on what to look out for. And whilst I could afford the emergency appointment, I appreciate that they had lots of information available for those not in the same position as I am financially.
Waited 4 hours and was never seen. Everyone (literally, everyone) who came after me was seen before I decided to leave at 3 am. Now before you say those cases needed more urgent care than my pet, no they did not; those dogs were still running around barking. Problem also is we were there only 4 days prior to that with the very same issue but were told that because we would be seeing another vet (which of course would be the case for an ER place) there would be another lot of consult fee, which is probably one of if not the most expensive around. Where is the accountability and the care? Don't go if you have a choice.
Was very disappointed bringing my pet here. It was an emergency as he had internal bleeding. I felt that he wasn’t made a priority as they were busy and seem to lock him in a crate on a drip and put him in the he’s dying basket. When attending to collect my dog to rush to my own vet (who had time for him) I was made to wait 1hr to speak to a vet to discharge him. This vet called my dog a she instead of a he , this made me question if she had even looked at him during her shift. There service is very expensive and your a number. My dog is still here and it’s not because of any actions from this clinic!
I needed urgent care for my cat Charlie when she was attacked by a dog. My usual vet was closed so I went here for the first time. Despite being busy they attended to Charlie immediately. Dr Summie Lo gave me a preliminary assessment that evening and phoned me next morning with a detailed report - professional yet warm and sympathetic. Later another vet called back with up an update. Unfortunately Charlie was in bad shape so I went back to say goodbye. Throughout it all the vets, nurses and desk staff were incredibly helpful, professional, friendly and sympathetic. I would definitely recommend them.
We had to unfortunately euthanise our beautiful cat earlier today. The CARE team was brilliant, especially Dr. Magda. She was clear, straightforward, and real with us, yet so very kind, patient, and emphatic. She didn’t make us feel rushed or anything. The way she told us about the options we had and all reasonings was calm and understanding. She ensured we made an informed decision, with our cat’s best interests in mind. She made the entire process so much easier for us. Very positive things to say about CARE Collingwood. May our cat rest in peace, thank you CARE. ❤️
Took our bunny for an emergency consult after she hurt her month about three weeks ago. We walked in and waited for about 2.5 hours which was quite reasonable. The emergency vet was very kind in handling our bunny and did a thorough examination around her oral area to confirm there is no visible injuries. The clinic is very clean overall and staffs at the reception gave me a warm welcome on my arrival. Would recommend anyone who needs to take their pets for emergency consult to CARE. It is in a very convenient location near the city. Ample on street parking space.
I couldn’t recommend CARE veterinary hospital more! The amazing staff have saved my beautiful staffy from severe gastrointestinal issues not once but twice now. The care that they provide is the best in Melbourne. If your animal needs veterinary care, you can always trust the staff there. My girl missy also suffers from anxiety and she felt completely comfortable during her time spent there. The are the most attentive, friendly and caring professionals. I am forever grateful for their exceptional expertise, efforts and compassion. Thank you again
Don't waste your time with this vet. My 17yr old Shitzu was very ill. I was at Lort Smith at 6.45am and didn't know they no longer open 24/7. So I drove to this place. I was there at 7.15 and was the only person in the place and never got into the treatment room until 8.20. Was then told to take a seat as the Veterinarian left me in the room while she went out to do triage. There was another 5 patients that had arrived while I had been waiting there. I paid for the consultation and drove back to Lort Smith and was seen by a vet within ten minutes.
Sadly we had to take our youngest cat Mr Trix to emergency over one weekend recently, however his condition declined fast. The vets and staff at Care did all they could over the weekend to try diagnose and treat him. Unfortunately it appeared to be an incurable condition. They talked through the process the whole time and provided as many options possible. Extra shout out to receptionist Andrea who days later offered her assistance in any way, even if just to talk. The staff and vets really love and care for animals and are very understanding.
The staff were excellent. Gave great advice over the phone of what to monitor after our puppy swallowed a bee and then when we needed to bring her in. Gave clear instructions on where to go when we arrive and the process of care. Had to sign in with QR code to register before consultation could begin and this is done from a big sign out the front. The vet then rang us while we waited in car to check had all necessary info. We paid and have the info needed to forward to our pet insurer. Amazing care, communication and service.
The team at CARE were nothing short of brilliant. We brought our very sick GSP dog to Care after our local vet were at a loss as to what was wrong with her and she was declining fast. They diagnosed it was a tumor on the spleen and confirmated this by CT. Angus the vet surgeon was amazing - kind, informative and patient with our very emotional family. He and team removed a 5.3kg tumor and Evie has gone on to recover fully. Thank you to all at CARE - from the receptionists, nurses and Vets - you are all amazing!
Everything about CARE vet hospital is the best. Reception staff are just divine, helpful and very compassionate. I've been coming here for years, first with my poodle baby that passed away 3 years ago. At CARE the vets there gave her such loving and professional medical treatments for her liver and tumour . Now we take our little Zeytoon there when our vet can't see him, he's a handful but the vets there are outstanding, professional and caring. I highly recommend CARE veterinary hospital to all pet owners.
The team at CARE were so amazing to deal with in our recent medical emergency for our beloved family member Loki. The level of professional compassionate care we received both for our wee dog and also ourselves in such a stressful situation was above and beyond our expectations. Loki is already progressing very well in her recovery and we are much relieved. On top of that the total cost was so extremely reasonable for the expert level of surgical care she received. We can’t recommend these people enough.
Can't thank the front desk worker enough for her help when I was having an anxiety attack calling for help with my housemates dog. She was so soft spoken, calming and helpful during the seizure and she deserves 1 million paid days off to relax after having to deal with stressed customers like me lol. I think her name started with an M but I was in a panic so not sure. The vets we dealt with were also very caring and thorough but considerate of our financial situation. Thanks heaps everyone involved x
Absolute angels. My dog went in in a critical condition due to underlying issues. The compassion and care from all the vets and staff was second to none. The fear of losing a pet is terrifying, but they were honest about his chances, without being cruel or overstepping boundaries. I was given options, and payment was discussed early on, so I wasn’t left with a shock of a bill. Their care for my babe, means he gets to come home tomorrow, and I get some sleep tonight, knowing he is in good hands.
Staff is great here, but if you have a stray cat you want to save DO NOT TELL THEM THEY ARE A STRAY by law they have to surrender strays to the lost dogs home which will euthanise them immediately. The vet did everything they could, they wrote on his form that we wanted to adopt him but within hours of getting to the lost dogs home he was killed. All we wanted was for him to get his foot treated. Just lie and say it’s your pet DO NOT LET THEM GO TO THE LOST DOGS HOME otherwise they will die
Best vet hospital in Melbourne! … after misdiagnosis at another vet hospital and my cats personal vet, CARE Veterinary Hospital not only diagnosed him correctly but we’re exceptional in the care and medical attention he needed. Wonderful staff, nurses and doctors (thanks to Dr Ye Yao in emergency for her after hour text messages) & a special thankyou to Dr Linda Abraham who got my little fur baby back to health after surgery, feeding tubes & guiding me through it all with compassion & care.
Thank you CARE for looking after my very sick cavoodle puppy so extremely well. I was so impressed with the way my 15 week old puppy was managed during his 5 days in ICU with a severe case of gastro. The CARE staff were kind, caring and very knowledgeable. Dr Dave in particular was exceptional in his approach, going the extra mile to explain everything in the regular update phone calls. I would highly recommend this hospital to any pet owner and will not hesitate to return in the future
A terrible experience with my poor dog. It is over a year since she died. I am still upset about how her illness was dealt with (or rather not dealt with) here. Very poor communication and unclear treatment plan. Each time I think of how my dog’s life ended I wonder how things may have been different if I hadn’t chosen to come here because my regular vet was closed over the Christmas/New Year period. 11 days after first bringing her here and close to $14,000 later my poor girl was gone.
I arrived at 9.15am on a saturday I was their next patient so no huge wait. The very welcoming receptionist/nurse was so nice and instantly made me feel calm. Lovely clean foyer. 1 hour parking out the front & round the cnr. After not being able to get a local vet apt for my girls sore eye, it was so good to just walk in. The vet was lovely and spent quite a bit of time with us explaining things. If the need arises I will go back without hesitation .
Such kind and compassionate people! I called up regarding an issue with my puppy’s teething. I was understandably told that there were no appointments but one of the staff there organised straight away for me to speak to a vet. The vet was reassuring, kind and compassionate for I’m sure what is a much smaller issue than what a lot of animals come to CARE for. Such empathy is rare to find and would definitely trust my dog going there if ever necessary.
Our greyhound Eric recently had what was suspected severe gastro, and the staff at CARE were so fantastic. Very empathetic, compassionate, and caring. Eric was there was 3 days, and we received a phone call from a vet every morning and night to check in and let us know how he was doing and answer any questions we might have. Eric is our baby and we really appreciated the love and care that CARE gave to Eric during his stay <3
This place is awful. I’m really grateful for the option, but this was terrible. I only came because of a public holiday; the wait times are terrible- hours, terrible if you have a stressed cat whose heart you could literally see jumping out of his chest. Probably injuring him more than coming. If you have a stressed cat or anything that is questionable, wait till next day. To top it off the air conditioning was freezing
Excellent staff and vets. I brought in my unwell kitten first thing in the morning, and the reception staff were reassuring given how distressed I was. The vet explained treatment options and cost estimates, and followed up with a phone call during the day to let me know of the progress. It was also nice of the evening receptionist to chat to me about how adorable my little guy was. I felt he was really well cared for.
Short wait to see the vet when we showed up, but our cat was triaged straight away and it's an emergency hospital so fair enough. Otherwise the vet we saw was thorough and understanding and made a clear effort to document and investigate our chronically but mysteriously sick pet's history. Went home with recommendations and care and details were sent to our regular vet for the next appointment.
I brought my friends here on Thursday evening where unfortunately we had to say goodbye to their 8 month old cat. A special thank you to Dr. Magda for her transparency, professionalism and care. The receptionists were also so lovely, providing us a private space and as much time as we needed to say goodbye. Thank you for your patience and empathy during what was obviously a very hard time.
The team at CARE were super lovely to deal with, and helped to make a very difficult time for us as nice as could ever be expected given the circumstances. We were blubbering idiots saying our last goodbyes to our beautiful feline companion, and every step of the way we were shown outstanding compassion and empathy. Thank you so much to the team who looked after us. We're very grateful.
Thank you to the staff at CARE for their professionalism and compassion. I took my little man in on Saturday after a seizure. He has been sick for a while so we were prepared that this was going to be his last trip... Dr Summie took care of him and was so gentle in advising us and delivering the bad news. Thank you for being there and guiding us through the process of letting him go.
Really really super impressed with CARE. The staff are friendly, empathetic and knowledgeable and have no issues referring you on if they believe its whats best for your animal. They were amazing when i had to euthanaise my 14yo dog as it was very sudden and horrific. My normal vet now refer all their clients here because of the care and services they can provide. Highly recommend !
CARE Vet was really great, I had an emergency with my dog and was seen quite quickly for a Sunday, with the most upmost care and patience was provided to my dog. Really appreciated the kind and friendly staff and nurses/ doctors. There are plenty of chairs to sit in and wait, many parking options and a clean environment reflecting that of a 24/7 vet hospital. Highly recommended.
Thanking Dr Abbey,Dr Dave,Dr Kate and your wonderful staff on the loving care that you have shown to our ‘little man’ Sabu!!! You all kept us in constant touch in regards to Sabu’s diagnosis and you made him leave this planet with so much dignity! Our hearts are shattered but we know that Sabu is now with his sister,Tiffany! Over the rainbow! Thank you all again! D’Elia Family
Fantastic are the team at CARE for treating our Louis multiple times; each time he was spicy, thank you for kindly sedating him to safeguard his emotional wellbeing, as well as your safety! Louis has crossed the rainbow bridge after a recent visit to CARE, and we are so grateful to have such a caring, dedicated team available 24/7 for our furbabies when we need them most.
Could not recommend CARE enough. They were so helpful when my precious cat Fern was attacked by a dog. Unfortunately she didn’t make it but everyone I dealt with was so lovely and compassionate. Dr Jo especially was such a help, giving honest and easy to understand advice in a terrible situation. I’m so glad Fern had you by her side in her final moments. Thank you.
Our little dog Doug ran away, got lost and was hit by a car. CARE were absolutely incredible. After needing surgery and having a titanium hip replacement at only one year old, Douglas is back on all 4 paws and tearing it up at the dog park. CARE were so helpful, kind and understanding during a really scary time and we’re so thankful for their loving care of Doug.
This vet is amazing. They have helped several friends with pet emergency care and when I contacted them on a public holiday they were absolutely swamped and at capacity but took the time to provide me with help and advice over the phone and provided me with info on other vets that could help me with my non-emergency but still serious concern with my cat that day.
The staff at CARE are so exceptional I had to write a review. We had to make the difficult decision to put our family cat down but the CARE team were wonderful, they gave us all the information to help us make an informed decision and let us take our time in saying goodbye, staying as long as we liked. Very professional and compassionate Vet, thank you.
I cannot speak highly enough of the warmth , care and compassion our boy rollo and we received . In such a high pressure environment the level of care is admirable. We were kept informed at all times and we’re made to feel confident he was being well looked after . Thankyou to all involved in rollos care . You all amazing and very much appreciated.
I cannot thank CARE enough. They were all soooo caring and beautiful to my Tiger. It wasn’t a good outcome for him but I got to be with him until the end and they were so compassionate, I really can’t explain how good they were. The Vet Jarrod (I hope I got your name right) thank you….. and every other person I came in contact with Friday night…..
A great experience considering its not the place you really want to be. As a nervous pet owner, they put up with my calls and questions and were extremely helpful and sympathetic to my situation. Every team member did their best to help even when I arrived at 2am unannounced on a Saturday morning. I knew my dog was in good hands. Boots says thanks
This place turned my dog away after he was foaming from the mouth due to being too busy. They made me travel to Bundoora. No assessment to see if my fur baby was stable, I just got a "sorry we are too busy you'll have to go elsewhere". Thankfully my pup was ok and I can not recommend Bundoora vet emergency clinic enough, and cost half the price.
Thank you to the amazing team at CARE for looking after my dog. From the receptionists to the nurses and vets (thank you Dr Abby), everyone was great and communication was excellent. It was a very busy evening but we were seen within half an hour and given good advice and treatment. Highly recommended if your pets ever need emergency care.
Came here last night after my friend’s dog had been hit by a car. The reception staff welcomed us straight in and made sure our dog was looked after straight away. The nurses and staff here not only care about the animals, but also the owners. Thank you so much for looking after our girl and for being so caring in a really stressful time.
Charged $640 initially, then another $1750 for an overnight stay. Told us we needed to consider putting our dog down on release or organise somebody to come to our house to perform that function. 3 months later our dog is still happy and loving us. A bitterly disappointing experience and certainly not worth recommending in our experience.
We had a late night visit to CARE after our puppy ate something he shouldn’t have. We had a very helpful initial phone conversation with Dr Jeremy Wat who then took great care of our pup when we arrived. Everything was explained to us clearly and we felt our pup was in very safe and caring hands. Thank you Dr Jeremy and CARE team.
I had a fantastic experience with my sick senior cat. Their swift response and expert team made a stressful situation much more manageable. Grateful for their professionalism and efficient service in handling the emergency and we have successfully diagnosed my boy and now treating him. Our second chance. Highly recommend!
Good service. Nice people who give very clear instructions and direction. They will tell you the wait will be "X" amount of time, which is important. A special mention to Dr Jeremy Wat. Straight forward guy, caring, honest and bloody good at his job. I was seriously impressed with his skills and manner. Thank you Dr Wat.
Exceptional care and service at CARE. The vet was incredibly thorough and took excellent care of our dog. The woman on reception was also incredible, she managed many distressed pet parents so well and was very efficient while also empathetic. Yards above other 24 hour vet care facilities in Melbourne.
I would like to thank CARE Veterinary Hospital for their care of my cat Kopa and for their kindness towards me when I was stressed and upset. Monique, the lovely receptionist and staff were so compassionate, caring and helpful and I can't thank them enough. I highly recommend CARE Veterinary Hospital.
Couldn’t recommend enough. Had to bring my puppy in around 10:30pm because he had blood in his diarrhea and was so worried but the vets and the assistants were so incredibly kind and reassuring. You can see how much they really care about the animals that come in. Would definitely recommend! …
The genuine care from the staff at this hospital was incredible. No matter how major or minor they give you your full undivided attention and want to help you as best as they possibly can. Wait times are unavoidable but it's worth the wait for the care and love they showed my fur baby ❤️ thank you
We can’t thank CARE enough (all the staff, including Vet Olga and nurse Ellenore) for their amazing care and communication skills. Our family dog had an emergency and the team were so helpful, informative and empathetic. A big thank you, and my first point of call for any future emergencies.
Brooke was outstanding in helping me and my rabbit George at 3am on a Wednesday night not long ago. She informed us considerately of his condition and did her best to provide all potential treatment options. We were so lucky to have someone of her expertise help our bunny! Thank you Brooke!
Our beautiful little Luna has been rushed into care twice now in the last month they are absolutely amazing and then transferred to the rabbit doctors and both times care and rabbits doctors have saved our little girl :) thank you to everyone there for all your amazing work and support xx
I was referred to CARE after my dog fell ill. They were amazing to deal with and made a tough situation bearable with their ongoing communication and support. Their pricing is very fair and their vets all do an amazing job. Thanks again to the team for all of their hard work!
I am very grateful for this service having taken my cat Lion here on 3 occasions over the past 2 weeks. Yes, there is a wait but they do the best they can to get to you as quickly as possible . Everyone was very kind and hopefully Lion is now on the mend . Thank you.
The experience vet staff were very good. They took a great care for my sick bunny. But we did waited for very long time for the vet. Due to some other pets very sick needed critical medical attention. And we were told about this when we have registered.
I have taken my little cat to CARE a couple of times now and each time I have appreciated the amazing customer service of the reception team. They take the time to listen with kindness and are understanding and patient with worried pet owners.
We had a bit of an emergency with our beagle the other night so we took her to CARE. And that's what they did – they took CARE of our darling in a most relaxed and loving manner. We are bringing all our pet needs to this place. Thank you CARE!
Absolute angels. They took our precious boy in at 3am (during the crazy COVID times), ran a whole battery of tests and kept in constant contact to let us know what was happening. We were very fortunate to be able to collect our pet the next
I’ve had to use you guys two times since having my dogs and I’ve had nothing but positive things to say both times. However, that changed yesterday when I rang to ask some very basic questions that would help assist me in what my next steps
Please do not take your pet here in case of an emergency. This place might be OK as a regular clinic. They have no triage. Every singe visit we have made to this place, they have always served people in the order they came in. Once my cat's
My little shih tzu Chacha was born with legg-pearsons disease. At 5 months old she was limping and always in pain when walking, by 10 months (which is the number of months we had to wait for her bones to develop before getting her operated
This is both the best and hardest review I've ever had to write. We took our 16yr old maltese in a couple of days ago after she experienced 3 seizures within 11 hours, the last was horrendous. There were complications as well but for the
We have had to bring our little dachshund, Rosie, in a couple of times to be seen urgently after hours and while I wish we didn’t have to go to CARE in the first place, the staff have always been so friendly, empathetic and have provided
We were so grateful to experience the professional yet compassionate service of this vet hospital last week when our 16yo cat came in after an emergency at home. From the get-go, to speaking with receptionist by phone, through to nursing
A great, affordable option in an emergency. The receptionists were friendly and on the ball while the vets were available to answer queries and provided detailed, expert follow up and advice in aftercare of surgery. Thank you to the team.
Thank you so much to the team at Care on Saturday 22nd July who took care of our treasured dog after a dog attack resulting in puncture wounds on her back . The nurse & vet were so gentle & helpful & we can’t thank them enough ❤️ …
My partner and I phoned this vet late one evening recently after our dog had helped himself to 300g of lollies. The receptionist was kind and caring on the phone going out of their way to assist us! Thank you so much for your help!! :)
We have had some ongoing health issues with our boy Paddington and the team at CARE has been so amazing. From reception, nurses and veterinarians. They work so hard so please be patient when you go in and be as kind as possible.
So incredibly helpful & patient with my blabbering about my new rescue dog being ill. Honest & open about wait times & their patient load but took the time to advise me re best way to watch progression of very upset stomach.
Really caring and attentive service. Brought our schnauzer in late at night, was really busy but the vet still gave him the highest quality care despite the multiple cases they were obviously dealing with at the time.
We had to take our dog here when he became very sick and needed to be seen straight away. The care we received was amazing and I am so grateful to the staff who treated us so kindly at such a difficult time.
Thank you Sarah, her caring nature and empathy shows no bounds. We took our beloved Figaro here when he collapsed and passed away. Thank you for being you, and understanding what we're going through.
I did not take my pet here as I had already found another vet to complete the surgery, but they were courteous and friendly in offering a quote to me (and their fee was very reasonable). Thank you
I had to take my cat at about 2am and had low expectations based on my unshakeable concern for my pet cat. My cat received the best care, I was comforted wholly by the wonderful nurses
