Before I begin, I have to clarify that I'm not the type of person to write reviews. Ever. But if I have any chance of sparing someone the mental gymnastics of attempting to rely on CVS on Prytania to any extent, it's worth it. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. In fact, the only circumstances under which I'd recommend this pharmacy to ANYONE would be if they were specifically looking for a dysfunctional pharmacy. I've been coming here for about 3 years, since my information is in the CVS system, and have no had a simple or easy time picking up my prescription once. Every month, there's a new complication, for a relatively simple prescription (antidepressant). It's been put on hold for weeks mysteriously. Or they run out, and then don't get more for a month. Or they misspell my name multiple times and ignore me when I insist that my medicine IS there. Today, they told me I can't pick my medicine up for another month. It's always a new suprise! Wanna transfer the prescription? Good luck getting them to answer the phone. If your wait time is less than 40 minutes, go buy some lottery tickets. Need OTC meds, vitamins, alcohol, or foodstuff? Have fun trying to locate a cashier to check you out. If, for some reason, you feel like you need more stress, disappointment, and anxiety in your life, this is the pharmacy for you!

Worst pharmacy ever. Run by half-wits. The only reason this is a one star review is because there is no way to leave negative stars. You can stand next to your doctor while she faxes in a prescription and the brain trust at the CVS pharmacy will say "Your doctor's office didn't fax it." Then you go through the routine where you say, "Did you check the fax machine?" and they say, "Hold on, let me look." (Should you really have to say, "Did you check the fax machine?") You can call ahead and ask if your prescription is ready, be told by Moe, Larry, or Curly that it is and then wait in line to deal with a pharmacy student who not only has never heard of you or your prescription, but appears to not understand what a prescription even is or what it means to have a job. You will never, ever, just walk in to pick up a prescription that is allegedly ready. There is always an issue of some sort and based on their 100% track record of never, ever, ever getting it right it just isn't the fault of the Dr. or the insurance company. Save yourself a bunch of time and frustration and drive to Castelon. Or take the bus there. Or walk. The Emir of Qatar should ask for his money back. Fail. Fail. Fail. Worst pharmacy ever.

Around the middle of May I responded "YES" to a text message from this CVS location pharmacy asking if I wanted a medication refilled. Luckily, though, before driving all the way there, I called to make sure the request had been processed. I was told they had nothing filled for me and they couldn't explain why. So I put through another request for the prescription to be filled, and days later picked it up. Several days afterward, I had cause to check the information on the bottle and found a discrepancy in the product info (manufacturer). Upon calling the pharmacist I was told I had the correct product and that the misinformation on the label was "an error." However, to be on the safe side, I decided to shelve the medicine I had grown suspicious of, and had the prescription transferred to another pharmacy, for which I paid out of pocket. I've contacted CVS online regarding my concerns, but have yet to hear from them.

Huge shoutout to pharmacist Britt! Honestly the other negative reviews about pharmacy mixups etc do check out with experiences friends of mine have had going back years, but I ended up having to get a shot here and he was fantastic. Great bedside manner with my slight needle phobia and checking on me as I sat down after, truly the best I've experienced since COVID. I was also in and out exactly as scheduled. On my way out I caught something of another customer having an issue getting a scrip filled and Britt stepped in and actually helped as well as diffused the situation. I still cant say I recommend this CVS as a regular pharmacy based on what I know but I'll gladly return here for flu shots. As far as shopping it seems like a normal decently stocked cvs and I don't come by super often but have never personally experienced an unreasonable wait or had to search out a cashier.

Long wait, long hold times on phone. My daughter had a painful infection last week and the pediatrician called in a prescription to this pharmacy. It took them hours to fill it. On another occasion I went to get a flu shot and was told the wait would be "at least 30 minutes." To male matters worse, the cashier seemed like she was frustrated with me when I said I was willing to wait. She must be used to people turning around and walking out when she says that. Last straw was today. I've also had a recurring issue of them associating someone else's prescriptions (someone with same birthday and a similar name) with my account. Too slow, too sloppy. I'll give them one less person to call a customer, so maybe their lines will be a little shorter from now on.

I just had a horrible experience at CVS off of Pyrtania in New Orleans. Lashon Meldea the pharmacy manager and Casey and another employee were treating me differently because I was white. I had to ask when I would know if they have a medicine in stock because they were basically ignoring me. Right after I asked if it was in stock ... Lashon went to a girl next to her and they both started laughing. It was so embarrassing. I then asked for her name and she started threatening me and saying she didn’t have to fill the medicine. I told her I was here and dropped off the medication and asked if she could ask professional. She said no I’m not filling this medication. I would review the tapes at that store from 1-2. This was such a horrible experience.

I have been on a certain medication for 2 and a half years now and my insurance just changed so the only pharmacy I can receive benefits at is CVS. So today I have been to every one of them on the westbank, then the canal, Claiborne and of course yours truly the rudest worst of all of them pyrtania. Because of the medication I have to literally drive to everyone to see who has it I asked this store of they could help me and tell me where the next CVS store they thought may have it. The young man didn't even make eye contact he said no and walked away. Rude, ignorant, and seriously messed up. Corporate needs to address all the pharmacies staffs bc not one was nice, nor helpful. But this one too the cake

I just had the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had at a pharmacy. My insurance changed and I had to change from Walgreens to CVS. CVS filled my prescription, didn’t use my insurance, said they did when I asked about the unusually high price, filled half the prescription and when I realised their mistakes and called the pharmacy to discuss it, they were rude and dismissive and kept blaming my doctor and just kept repeating “feel free to call your doctor” in a mocking and sarcastic tone. I am beyond amazed. I find the folks in New Orleans to be very friendly and helpful, and this was a definite exception.

Was on automated hold for AN ENTIRE HOUR AND SEVENTEEN MINUTES and all I needed was to cancel an rx that was sent there by mistake. Now my regular cvs pharmacy is closing in an hour and won't fill it until tomorrow. So now I can't get my meds until tomorrow after work. Not like I need that medication or anything../s. AND THEN WHEN THE PHARMACY WORKER PICKED UP, HE WAS RUSHING AND RUDE, like I get it can be busy and he's probably juggling a lot, but I just sat on hold for almost an hour and a half listening to skull-numbing jingly hold music. The whole experience was disgusting.

Spent two weeks trying to get a straightforward prescription filled. On multiple times, they gave me wrong and contradictory information, would give me different information at different times, telling me they would fix things and then do mothing, telling me ( by phone alert) the prescriptions are ready when they were not. For another prescription, they they lost the fax, even after I called to confirm they had received the fax. They then acted surprised when I could produce confirmation. Overall an ongoing disaster. Had to start over three times now. Would lose faxes.

Great experience as a first time customer. The young woman at the counter promptly helped me and verified that my medication was in stock, as well as updated my new insurance info. She also added a discount I forgot was available for the medication and let me know I'd receive a text when it was ready. I didn't need it until the next day, but it was ready in less than an hour. I just relocated to this neighborhood from out of state and it was gratifying to experience such a personable and professional pharmacy staff.

I've been coming to this store for 4 years a few times a week. The people who work here are friendly, like small town store, friendly. The store redesign is great. I don't like the automatic check out but that came from corporate. Every time I look up the phone number I see how low the stars are and all I can think is that these folks haven't tried out some of the other pharmacies in here. P.S. I love the front of the store folks and the pharmacy folks. All good people.

I’m an essential employee with the USPS, with limited time to get my prescriptions and I visited twice (same day) to get my prescription , both times the staff were unable to help me and could care less to help me. My prescription was called in twice and I was told there was no record of it. It’s very frustrating to not get prescriptions doctors called in, I guess I will have to switch to Walgreens.

  • Rezzlean

Very disappointed with the staff. I needed a prescription filled and the staff first refused to tell me if they had stock. I called back and pleaded with them because I didn't want to drive all they way there for a no. The person I talked to was the same both times and he was very rude. He wasn't polite or understanding he just hung up on me.

It's not too busy and the staff were really friendly. I like that they have a self-checkout so I don't get held up in a long line. They're also open 24 hours which is really nice if you have to make a quick late-night trip for a snack or a sick child. They also have a pretty nice grocery so I shouldn't for basic staples in your pantry.

  • Ethan Rault

The pharmacy is incredibly slow and the staff is incompetent. I’ve picked up liquid suspension antibiotics here before that they have forgotten to reconstitute, which I realized when I got home and opened the bottle and found a powder instead of a liquid. There’s always a wait, and they’ve lost prescriptions multiple times.

  • Greg Johnson

The hours haven't changed on google, but they are open this afternoon 2-15. Its not 24 hours. The main pic isnt reflective of the current signage. Anyway glad theres a spot near the parade route . Its a smaller locations, but most of the buildings in this area are smaller. I generally check cvs for probiotic sales. Thanks

The people in the pharmacy are just great. Very helpful and attentive. It us one of the nicest, friendliest CVS I have ever seen anywhere. Much more like an old-fashioned neighborhood drug store than a typical part of a national chain. I just love the people who help me here at 4901 Prytania Street in New Orleans.

  • Emily Seeb

Terrible pharmacy. They made me give them my work number and assured me they would not ever call it. Less than a week later my manager informs me that they left a message that my prescription was ready to be picked up. Very very slow & rude service.

  • James Perrien

As a physician, I was embarrassed today by the lack of wipes and alcohol solution at the pharmacy checkout. Sick people all using the same credit card machine with no way to sanitize. They can and should do better!!

  • Carly Waterstraut

There is rarely anyone working the checkout. You have to go through the automatic checkout while the staff stands around and stares at you or talks to each other. So centrally located but not fun to go into.

  • Joe Ramos

Nobody works there and if you manage to find one single human being besides yourself hidden somewhere inside this spooky disolate ghost town of a store, they are as unhelpful as you can possibly imagine.

  • M Sims

Woman working at the pharmacy was on talking on her phone using her AirPods. I am uncomfortable giving my personal information in this setting and it has to be a HIPPA violation.

  • michael henn

One of the worst managed places in New Orleans. Pharm staff is dreadful and the lines are ridiculous at every time of the day. Corporate phone assistance is almost as bad.

  • john caraccioli

It's close to home, the counter people are never behind the register and overnight employees are not courteous. Never really had any issues with the pharmacy yet.

  • Evan Roden

Pharmacy staff are quick to fill orders and happy to work with other locations to quickly transfer and fill prescriptions. The store is tidy and feels safe.

  • BMula700x

Kasey is a true asset to the team. He knows what he’s doing and very kind , informative, considerate, and helpful. Please keep him around I need him …

  • Patrick

The pharmacy regularly has 30min-1 hour wait because they run a skeleton crew of basically 1 person to fulfill all orders. Very slow in general.

  • Sadie Ables

Absolutely love the pharmacy staff! Kendall, Kasey and last but not least BRIT! I just wish they were still open 24-7.

  • A Stockton

This is a great spot to grab last minute things. I work nights so it helps that they are open 24 hours.

  • Sally White

Do not try to call them (pharmacy or front store). They do not answer the phone or answer and hang up.

  • Tave Fitzpatrick
