I had a terrible experience with Checker Cab. Their app is an absolute disaster. The interface is clunky and difficult to navigate, and the app often crashes, making it nearly impossible to book a ride. I tried to use the app several times, and every time it failed to work. It was incredibly frustrating, and I wasted a lot of time trying to use it. It's clear that Checker Cab doesn't care about providing a good user experience with their app. The poor service from Checker Cab extends beyond their app. I've had multiple negative experiences with their drivers. They are often late or simply don't show up, which is incredibly frustrating when you're trying to get somewhere on time. When they do show up, they are often rude and unprofessional. It's clear that Checker Cab doesn't prioritize customer service or professionalism. One driver in particular, named Cashew, was incredibly misogynistic. He made derogatory comments about women and was incredibly rude to me during the ride. I felt incredibly uncomfortable and unsafe with him. It's unacceptable for Checker Cab to employ someone with such a negative attitude towards women. It's clear that Checker Cab doesn't prioritize the safety and well-being of their customers. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first bad experience I've had with Checker Cab. In the past, I've had drivers ask me out on dates, which made me incredibly uncomfortable. Another driver even asked for my phone number, which is completely inappropriate. It's clear that Checker Cab doesn't properly vet their drivers or enforce a code of conduct. Overall, I would not recommend Checker Cab to anyone. There are plenty of other quality taxi services in the city that provide better service and prioritize customer safety and satisfaction. I suggest looking into other options to ensure a stress-free and safe ride.

I am beyond livid at the moment!! #checkercabs cab #928 you should be ashamed of your self! I prebooked cabs this week to take my children to school. The taxi driver has the nerve to drive past my children while they waited in the driveway to get in the car, leaving them standing there, call me and refused to take them stating they are too young!! My oldest is 10years old and can walk he and his brother to school. With all the crazy stuff going on in society I felt it safer for them to take a taxi. So instead of taking them, you leave them standing there outside, while police and a tow truck are dealing with what is most likely a stolen car, that was parked out front of my house, for God knows what to happen to them! I am beyond furious!!!!! I immediately contacted Checker dispatch and they quickly sent out another car that took them right to school. They then transfered me to their head office, who has yet to call me back! This is my children's safety which I take highly serious. You would think listening to my voice-mail someone would contact me immediately. So now I take it to social media and I will be posting video footage! And to add they over charged me for the ride and did not hold the guaranteed amount listed when I booked the taxi. What an amazing company!

My friend and I decided to take a cab from Cowboys to our apartment. Upon entering the cab, we provided the driver with our destination. However, we soon noticed that there was no meter displayed, leading us to believe it may have been hidden from our view or so we thought. When we arrived at our location, the driver demanded an exorbitant fare that seemed completely unreasonable. Refusing to pay without seeing the meter, I insisted on verifying the distance traveled, which was only 6 km. The fare he quoted, charging $0.23 per 120 meters, did not align with the math. He admitted to not running the meter. During our conversation, I brought up the fact that your website states the fare for a 6 km ride is $11.95, which contradicted the amount he demanded. His impatience became evident, and he began to threaten us, refusing to let us leave the cab or even contact the police (although in hindsight, we should have allowed him to call the police). Unfortunately, I failed to obtain his name, but I can assure you that I will never use your company's services again. It is clear that these individuals are running nothing more than a deceitful scam. It is truly disgraceful.

Hi i would like to report a rude driver September 12 ,2023 Tuesday @6.40 pm taxi number 481 calgary, driver said after he drop me he dont have change(cash 50$ )i need to pay him $15 including tips) so i still have remaining 35$ ,but he said only debit he accepts,( he never informed me before i got into his cab)so he wants me to run to anybody to look for my change ( bills)even ihave leg injury,( handicap) i don't want to be late at my work ,so i gave him my money without change,hopefully you take action about it ,ive been reported this incident since yesterday thru phone,no reply I was trying to get his number so that he can give my change $35 ,after work or even some other day, but he is rude while giving his number, he talk fast & dont want to repeat his phone number i was trying to save to my phone, so i end up i gave him 50$ without a change because i don't want to argue and he is so rude, and im gonna late at my work Hopefully you will discipline & training some drivers not to be rude & can able to talk in a good manner & bring some change bills for some passengers that didn't bring debit cards Cab have cameras if you want to review Thank you

I sent for a cab to pick up my 15 year old daughter and her friend from a concert as it was late and I didn’t want them taking the bus. Cab 729 was sent and although I usually use Uber, because of surge pricing I chose Checker using the app. The card on my profile was an old card and I didn’t realize that so when he went to charge it, it was declined. When my daughter called me, I could hear him getting incredibly upset at her, then me, for the card not working. He was incredibly intimidating and rude and scared them so she was very upset. I gave him my new card number but he didn’t even ask for the expiry date or security code so it obviously declined again. I told her to come get the card but she was afraid to leave the cab. She ended up coming to get it and the mix up was sorted and he was paid. She said he was rude and annoyed the minute they got in the cab so they were shaken up by the whole experience. I am honestly so disappointed and I don’t think I’ll be opting for Checker again anytime soon.

We had a very long day after having a four our layover delayed. By the time we got to the airport in yyc we just wanted to get home. Neem (#907) was a lovely taxi driver, courtious and got us home safely, by a quicker route then I would have taken! We were home around midnight. Neem was a great taxi driver but he is also a lovely human. I left my phone in the taxi by accident. When I checked the website lost and found is only open M-F and it was Sat morning. I called dispatch hoping I could get my phone before Monday. The dispatcher said he was off-duty. I figured I would have to wait and it wasn't the end of the world. But the dispatcher called him and then connected us over the phone. I was reunited with my phone within the hour, because Neem was willing to help me out on a Saturday morning on his day off. Thank you Neem <3

This used to be my go to choice for transport around the city until a recent interaction with one of the drivers drove me away. I had booked a taxi for pickup at a location and told the dispatcher my exact location within a shopping district, only to have to watch the driver drive around everywhere and past me even as I frantically waved to get their attention. Then when they found me, I was charged extra for a 'finder's fee?' and for having a short travel destination. The driver then berated me all the way to my home for not stating where to pick up, despite having told the dispatcher, and made me feel uncomfortable all the way home. I definitely won't be calling a Checker Cabs anytime soon, and I'd rather entertain another option to get around the city than having to go through that again.

Me and my 3 girlfriends got a cab with this company saturday night. Long story short, our cab driver made inappropriate comments and threatened to kidnap us. The driver also was not using a gps and his front computer was smashed which was worrisome too. This situation led us to call the police and file a statement against the driver. We also contacted the cab company (Paul specifically) who have not made any actions except say that is was partially our fault and embarrassing. This is unacceptable, and after reading more comments I see a pattern with their drivers being rude, inappropriate, and scary. They are also deleting all my friends reviews as they are giving them 1 star. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY LADIES. From one girl to another, be very careful as our night ended with a police report.

Naveed M. was great this afternoon. Showed up within the 10 minutes I was told by dispatch. My vehicle had died unexpectedly near a grocery store, had a full load of groceries along with a case of dog food, cat food and cat litter in the back. He helped load up his trunk, and asked me questions about my vehicle/shared his insights as to the possible causes of its sudden breakdown while he drove me home. Very pleasant and professional, highly recommend him over a rando Uber driver, the cost was totally fine and I gave him an 18% tip. Cabbies have it tough these days, especially when faced with not only so much more competition, but also many more regulatory measures compared to the Uber drivers, so I like to support these guys when I can, more accountable IMHO.

Horrible experience - 1125 - A-50686 - 1:am 04/09/23 Arrived at Airport after long day of travelling. Proceeded to use your services. My wife and daughter had to us the bathroom, so I went out and asked for services. No problem, was hailed this cab. We loaded up our suit cases - then I let him know my wife would be out in a minute. The cab driver exploded and started swearing at me saying I shouldn’t have loaded. I let him know wife would be right out. He then proceeded to throw all off our belongings out of his trunk - breaking our suit case. Worst cab experience ever. Please hire drivers with manners. Never using you again. Thanks for making the city of Calgary look so bad. As this is the first impression given to me of the city. GOOD JOB BUDDY

Today driver 207 accepted a ride, I was waiting 20 min after that he pressed ride completed but he never pick me up!!!! What wrong in this company The driver with car number 825 doesn't know what he's doing!! I waited 25 minutes for a pick-up. He said he couldn't pick me up because there was a contraction (I was standing at a cabs stop where another driver had picked me up the day before and the access is available if you know how and where to go).During the phone conversation I tried to help him how to get to me, he told me to cancel my ride because he wouldn't drive around the building to find me!!! Checkers drivers are not trained at all, if it weren't for GPS they wouldn't get anywhere. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Met a very unpleasant driver tonight who thought it wasn't his duty to open the trunk of his own vehicle. Checker is unfortunately becoming poor at their customer service. Never dealt with such unpleasantness before with a driver behaving as if he was doing me a favor rather than me paying for a service. And to add to that, the dispatcher backed his rotten behavior when I complained. Very disappointed in Checker as I've always had good experiences with this company. I'm curious to know what is within the job description of the driver because the dispatcher said they are not supposed to open the trunk of their vehicle, I am supposed to do that which I find absolutely absurd.

Yesterday, I took one of the checker cabs from Airport to home. Firstly, no one wanted to take my family as we had 3 carryon's (LOL). Secondly, even a Rav 4 checker cab driver said take a mini van. All middle east cab drivers stepped out and none wanted to pick us up. When they were forced by the airport staff after complaining the Sedan took me and my family and he was so upset as it was a short distance to Savanna. He drove 100kms per hour and was very rash. cab was soo dirty. No wonder why people are opting for an UBER instead of these rubbish checker cabs. Your staff needs to be trained properly. I still tipped well but will never use the cabs again.

My experience with this company was unpleasant and the administration woman answering the phone was down right rude and unwilling to find a happy medium. I took a cab from calgary Airport not realizing I had lost my wallet I couldn't pay my fare so I left my suitcase with the driver I paid my fare and asked when someone could bring my suitcase back. Well I was informed Noone was driving it for free I wasn't allowed to talk to the driver and unless I came to get it I was screwed. Noone would even work with me to find a happy medium I dont drive and the location was nowhere near transit. Customer service is not a strength this company has.

The drivers are about 50/50 I usually get them from Canadian north to go home with flights in from work in Calgary. I’ve had driver when I get in, basically every warning light is on, on the dash I usually just get out and say I’ll get the next one. Had some great ones too. But the one thing I’ve noticed lately is how much they tailgate people on Deerfoot especially it’s a little terrifying sometimes especially late at night knowing these driver are waiting for a few hours just to get a fair from our airport and they tell you they’ve been up 10hours already and you’re their last fair for the night. Etc… it’s pretty hit and miss

I would like to shout out to checker cab driver 1177 He went above and beyond in customer service for what his role required. It was a small ride from edmonton trial on 28 sep 2023 . I was struggling to carry my belongings so Despite of little trip he treated me with full respect, opened the cab door for me and carried my bags to my porch . What a gentleman. I take that ride almost every 3rd day but never had this amazing experience. it needs patience to deal with aged fellas of our age. But he was so patient and cooperative that I didn’t felt like he is rushing me out of his car. Keep doing the great work checker.

I called the cab they told me it would be 10 to 20 minutes after waiting 20 minutes. The cab driver called and said he was going to be 20 minutes do they still want him to come and I said if you guys had them told me it would be 40 minutes I would’ve called another company then I called the dispatcher and they were very gruff on the phone and said do you want a car or not? And I said OK well your customer service is lacking so I’ll just go with a different company. I was trying to use a cab company instead of Uber But I guess I’ll go back to Uber.

I am old school and my preference is to call a cab. Yellow Checker has always been reliable and awesome. Tonight changed my mind completely. Not one but 3 cabs cancelled and the customer service to get a new cab each time was garbage. A driver called me personally and made me down load the app for better service. Everyone I talked to when I called about drivers cancelling etc was useless and not once offered me a a way home. I’m a regular that uses Checker every night of the week. Very disappointing m ill.and it’s no wonder why Uber is better.

Booked a cab on their app to pick up me and my dad (who is on oxygen) at McMahon stadium. The Cab Driver ( cab 1111) picked up other patrons. I was able to run and catch up to the cab and when asked why he didn’t pick us up he blatantly lied to my face and said he tried calling and was generally very unprofessional. I’ve used checker for years but this incindent has made me reconsider ever using or recommending this company again. Took a checker cab from YYC to Aspen last night, total 31.8km, with no interuption or delay on the road. Ended up with a bill of $85 dollars. I took a checker cab a couple of weeks earlier on the same route, cost was $65 and change. When I asked the driver why such a big difference, was told that every thing is getting expensive... It is true, but 30% increase I. 2weeks can only explained by inconsistent pricing. I have been using Checker for years, Will start using alternatives for future trips.

I recently had a flat tire after midnight, and a tow truck was estimated to arrive in 9 hours. I called checker cabs, and driver #1571 arrived within 5 minutes of my call. He helped me remove my belongings from my car so nothing would be stolen, made sure I locked my vehicle when we left, and spoke to me on the way home as a kind father. He helped me to feel calm and safe in a stressful situation. I am so grateful for his kindness and professionalism.

I called for a taxi to sunridge medical building today, one taxi stopped to see if I needed assistance although he already had a fare I told him I was fine and just waiting for one of his drivers. The driver was so fast and prompt. I had a very good experience and will use them again. I forgot my phone in his taxi and he returned it to my address. very sweet of him. They told me to call an hour in advance and I would be guaranteed a minivan for the airport. I asked to book in advance and they said it was not possible but that they guaranteed a minivan. I called at 3:30am for a 4:30am pickup and said they only had three vans and couldn’t guarantee it and they could be up to a full hour late. They lied to me with their promise. do not trust them and book somewhere else.

Very displeased! Have used for many years No more! Huge language communication issues with dispach. Specific instructions as to my locations not followed, lost drivers, rude drivers and dispatcher refused to send car when I gave Walmart Plaza name and McLeod and Southland location saying she needed the address street number and hung up! Tried to call mgmt. to report calls not answered. Do not recommend.

Literally just witnessed a driver not wanting to pick up a customer without a deposit cause he was def. Multiple people went to speak to the cab driver, even the manager at the establishment. He showed on his phone where he was going. This is outright wrong on all levels. Don’t allow your seniors or apparently people of disabilities use this company. Bad business practices for sure. Awful and hurtful.

If it's just one person, it's not bad. Their app is ok and taxis are available. But if you have any requirements beyond that, good luck. Don't even try getting a van or a bike rack-equipped taxi. Despite their ads and website saying they have bike racks available, there are none around when you need one, and their dispatch never called us back to tell us, we had to call them again to find this out.

Cab 481 at 11:17 tonight at the Grey Eagle denied letting a man in a wheelchair to get in despite being open for a ride and the manager of the facility even tried to explain that the man was in a wheel chair. It’s actually disgusting watching someone with a disability getting denied basic service. Took a snapshot of the car before he left. Was gonna take a cab decided to take an Uber instead.

I had to send my kid in a taxi to an appointment as I am at work and cannot drive her. We called before hand to check if the payment method I was sending with her would work and double checked the amount. After they got to the destination, they refused the payment type I sent. I had to etransfer the funds to my kid. And they charged approx $20 more then the quoted amount.

When it comes to Cab service providers here in Calgary, the incontestable fact is that CHECKER is the leading name. All their fleets are inspected twice a year plus with periodic random on the road checks by their diligent supervisors. Cleanliness is almost their emblem. Their drivers also have to adhere to a specific dress code which is great. Keep your great work guys!

Waited 51 minutes and called 4 times downtown Calgary on a Thursday night. We had a Taxi Chit so wanted to get Checker. They kept driving by without stopping in front of the Marriott. 4th driver was friendly but won't use Checker again. Driver said they often don't stop if they don't see you cause they assume it is a small fair. He lucked out cause we are on an acreage.

Took a checker instead of uber, and boy did I pay the price. I was looking on my phone and when i looked up, I was headed the opposite direction of my house. I asked the driver why we were going the opposite direction of my house, and he said it was the route he was given. This trip took 20 minutes with no traffic and was around 15km- the direct route is about 9km.

I see a lot of poor reviews however I have nothing but great things to say about our driver, Garry. Not only was he on time for pick ups and drop offs, I ended up leaving my wallet in the cab and he was more than accommodating when helping me get it back and nothing was missing or out of place. Usually service for me is ok. Waited close to an hour tonight and almost late for work. Called them back 3 times. 1st time- was told another 5-10 minutes, second time put through to dispatch and again told 5-10 more minutes, third time I was hung up on. Not impressed. I called an hour before my shift started and work is only a 8 minute commute.

Blocked my car in a stall on the street, also illegally parked within 2 meters of a yield sign. Yes thats my front hood directly behind the yellow bumper. Use ride share services and get these drivers off the streets. I called 4 times to have the van moved and was sent to voice mail or left on hold for a supervisor. No resolution.

Took this service last evening and had a bad experience both directions I think this company needs to do a lot better at teaching the drivers customer service and how to speak to clients as well as spot check the drivers throughout the shift. Worst experience Iv ever had in cabs. Will no longer be using this company.

Negassy car #999 was the ONLY cab that would pick us up for a quick $10 fare. We ended up going to a different place and it ended up being $20 with a nice tip for him. I understand that cabs don’t want quick cheap fares when they’ve been waiting 40 min but I also don’t want to walk 2.5km. Extremely nice man

A yellow cab van was in abbydale, parked slanted in the road. Then pulls out with no signal into my car, there a truck in the side of me, then the jerk driver gives me the finger as he speeds though a playground zone and drives over my neighbours lawn. What type of people are yellow cab hiring, it’s scary.

Gave my address 5 times and spelt it out for her word by word, number for number and still was wrong and when I had to repeat she got short and gave extreme attitude. Made me so late for work and can’t keep doing this over and over. I rarely leave interviews but this is got to the point where I have to.

I took a checker cab from the airport home. He was braking unnecessarily and going 20 under the speed limit to try to up his fare. It was to the point that I had to actually ask him to drive the speed limit. Seems shady to me. I would rather take Uber.

I had to take a cab from Rockeyview Hospital. It was 9:30 pm and turned cool. I was picked up promptly with a smile and told that I was sitting where the last famous passenger sat. He said it was Jason Kenny, we laughed. Very pleasant experience.

Had brilliant experience with cab 819. Mustafa was a well-dressed and well-spoken driver. The car interior was clean and fresh. I don’t remember when was the last time I saw a cab driver as professional as him. Definitely recommend him.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I booked a taxi for early in the morning to get a guest to the airport. They didn’t show up on time. Over 25 minutes late. As a result we had to load our kids up at 4:30 am.
