I am never one to ever write a bad review. But I am extremely unhappy. I attended the salon for a root touch up on the 10/12. I had been before with absolutely no issues, this time I should have walked out , I was booked in for a recolour wash/treatment and a cut , blow dry. I arrived five minutes before my appointment was ment to start, the salon was busy , I stated I was there for a touch up wash, blow dry , then I proceeded to be sat down in the waiting area for another half hour only to be approached and asked again what I was there for , after stating what I was there for I was told no worries , sat down discussed the prices etc, the colour was then placed on my roots , I was there for half hour , never before have I had foil placed on my head during a root touch up but ok go hard . My hair was rinsed out and I was lead back to the chair where you can clearly see that there was something very wrong. My dark brown hair now had a very extreme noticeable line of copper/orange , I was told that my greys had turned it translucent (I don't have that many sis) when very obviously the wrong colour had been applied 30 vol was used instead of 20 , instead of owning the mistake, my hair was blamed. I was lead back to the basin where I was told toner would be applied. (This clearly was very obviously hair dye ) and I was again left for half hour at which point I am not appreciating the invasion of privacy as staff members were clearly standing behind me reading my distressed annoyed messages to my husband, I know because I heard the comments made. I was then taken back the chair and the blow dry was done by another staff member who is lovely and did my hair to perfection last time. The hair cut was done by the same girl who obviously used the wrong colour and she still proceeded to blame my greys (again I didn't have many sis) I paid , didn't argue the price and left , after a few days I noted my scalp was somewhat sore, so I sort out another hairdresser and she pointed out that there was several patches at the back of my head and neck there was still the copper as these had not been covered up at the attempt to hide the mistake in the first place, my scalp was peeling due to all the product and I am now going to be out more money fixing it , all in all a disappointing visit . If you had made the mistake it would have been better if it was owned, I was properly apologised too and the issue completely rectified, rather then allowing me to leave with patches otherwise not fixed underneath. I have since washed my hair and it's patchy. My scalp damaged . Extremely poor experience and one I had never experienced. I walked in 1055 and walked out at 310. For what should have been no more then an hour and a half Edited to add: a year later my hair has only just recovered and not one person from the salon reached out . It cost me $495 for another hairdresser to fix and treat my hair .

The first experience I had here was when I wanted to dye my hair a shade or so lighter and get a trim - not that big of a job. The hairdresser made me feel really bad about my hair saying it was very dry with a sort of judgemental look on her face. She said that she would not dye it today, told me to buy some shampoo they were selling, come back in two weeks and then they'll discuss dying my hair. I thought that was pretty rude considering that what I was asking for wasn't that major, it was my choice to dye my hair and she was just trying to sell me their products. Like I'm sorry but 2 weeks and some shampoo won't just magically "fix" dry hair. But the first experience doesn't even come close to the second and last time I came here. When I came here for the second time, I booked the appointment for a Saturday afternoon. When I arrived, I was told to come back on Sunday. Another big waste of time but I came back on Sunday anyway. I told them that I wanted to touch up my roots, and leave the rest of my hair the colour it was because I liked how it was. Pretty straightforward. I just wanted the ends to match the top. After I already told her I didn't want to dye the ends, the hairdresser showed me what colour she was going to do for my roots and what colour she was going to do for my ends (it would damage the ends to dye them again, and it was unnecessary) it felt like she was deciding for me. I already felt a little uncomfortable so I let her go ahead with it anyway. The entire time she was dying my hair was so painful because she carelessly yanked and pulled on it throughout the ENTIRE process. She was rough from when she was applying the dye, to when she was washing it out, until the very end when she was blow drying it. While she was washing it, she was rubbing it together between her hands so vigorously that I was sitting there thinking about how much damage she must be causing. After I left the sink, my hair was one big knot. It was matted. She started brushing out the gigantic knot she put in my hair, it hurt so bad and I could feel so much hair being ripped out. She'd get the brush, start from the TOP of the hair and pull it rightttt down to the bottom. I'm no expert, but even I know you're supposed to start gently brushing the ends first and work your way up. She even noticed numerous times that I expressed I was in pain but kept going very rough anyway. And to make matters worse, she wore rubber gloves throughout the entire process which tugged on the hair even more. It ended up costing me around $230 to get literally 20% of my hair pulled out and for a hair colour that barely resembled the colour I was after. And to top it off, I only realised later that I was charged Sunday surcharge even though THEY rescheduled. Just terrible.
On 25/10/21 I came for regroves, cut and blow dry. After waiting for more than 40 minutes I made to the chair. I spent another 20 minutes there. In a meantime one of the hairdressers (one with the tattoo sleeve and glasses, who did my hair latter) approached me and asked if I am a senior. I said yes and asked her why the question. She replied that they are having specials for seniors for the service and hair products as a package. What I understood the price was $85. My hair nearly shoulder length was not cut, it was chopped too short just below my eras and uneven. The regroves instead mixed blond came up in copper colour. After horrific styling I looked as a fugitive from an institution, ready for guillotine. The payment was not $85 but $185 she said because they are selling only packages. I called twice the place and no one told me about this. I never heard about this kind of packages. I also asked about the display of the prices. The hairdresser told me that they are still printing them because of the Covid. I was furies and refused to pay for the cosmetics and asked for the manager. She told that she is the manager. I was persistent and finished with the bill $113. I used to coming to the place after its opening. All the hairdressers then were caring and experienced. Now we got there unqualified kids pretending to be great and knowing everything. 29/12/21. I sent an email to head office as asked. No answer. Some time later I noticed the price display in the salon window for different services. So I was lied to that they sell only packages. Regarding to the normal senior specials I was overcharged $ 37.50. I wrote again asking for the refund. I got the answer from CEO Peter Warbrick that all the calculation was correct. He did not give me an answer to my complaint at all. That could indicate the hairdresser just follows her superior instruction to prey on soft targets as pensioners.
I just wanted a trim for my 2 girls. Went to them at 4.30pm. There were 3 girls there no customers. I noticed a couple of the staff were leaving. But the three girls were still there. Asked them if my girls could have a trim they said its too late to do a trim. I was like thought maybe its too close to closing time. So I asked them if they need to take bookings if I were to come on Sunday and they said it would be better but no necessary as they only had 2 bookings and there would be a surcharge for Sunday. I said ok. When I got home and checked online for timings it said they were open till 5.30pm so I called to check and they were still open and I questioned how long it would take for trim. They said depends but I said I told then I came with my 2 little girls for a trim after I had finished work and they didn't take me as they didn't have time. Does it take an hour to trim just 2 little girls hair? They literally had no customers , the owner can check cameras if you dont believe me and they said they were busy and their hair dressers had gone home and I ask why have the shop open for an hour with staff who can not do trims and they were not busy? I have to work all week and today was a day I finished early is it and was really disappointing to get such service. The girls weren't rude but just didn't want to take on extra clients for the last hour seems like. Very disappointing
I don’t usually write a review but this time I really needed to. I have visited your Carnes hill salon and had Sandra the manager to do my hair. My hair is blond and long and have tape extensions. I have been searching a good hairdresser for a while now who can do blond hair and not destroy it. I have had so many bad experiences in the past from other salons from burning my hair to making me walk out still orange or purple or even better you can’t achieve that colour they say or even better sitting in the salon for 6 hrs cause they can’t get the colour right. Can I say the first visit was wow !!! amazing !!!. Sandra explaind everything to me on what she will doing and made me feel very comfortable. From first go Sandra managed to get the colour I wanted i was amazed. I have had compliments from everyone on my colour. She is so amazing that I can go on forever praising her. Thank you so much for your amazing work you are a angel . I would highly recommend you to everyone. X Lily Rajic
I've been living here locally for more than 20 years. I've grown alongside this business, seen beloved staff come and go - but one thing these girls are is consistent. Despite being on their feet all day, catering to all hair lengths, personalities and demands, they will always do their best by their professional judgement as well as the client in the chair. I've seen them dehydrated, tired, overworked, but they still give it 110%. You couldn't ask more of a business or a team. They'll be upfront, understanding and have thorough explanations about how things will work and why. There's no animosity within their team and you'll always hear a bit of laughter throughout your session. I understand that in this line of work, there can be frustrations but at the end of the day - we're all human and hair will grow back and heal. I'm so proud of you ladies and always will be x
I was at Christiane's hair design the afternoon with my friend and it was the worst service i have ever seen. We got to the place and they told her to have a seat they will be with her in a minute, so we sat down. The girls started to do their own thing by cutting her hair and styling it with blow dryers and straightener, not even worrying about my friend we were there for 30 minutes waiting for someone to come up and cut her hair. The fact that it took 30 minutes and they still didn't bother despite the fact that they were not busy at all and there was hardly anyone in there is disgusting. I will never go back due to this. Get better employment that will actually cut the customers hair not their own, their job is to work on peoples hair not their own while a customer is waiting.
It was the long weekend and I made a booking at 1030 am for 1230 pm. I asked the girl on the phone are you sure this time is alright? She replied yes. I was at Christine's by 12:25 and was told there will be a 30 minute wait, which I was ok with, although you had other customers complaining that they have been waiting an hour and were ready to walk out. I believe one guy did walk out. I waited and when my turn was up the girl turns around and said to me there is no black dye. I was really annoyed by this, the girl on the phone should of asked what I wanted. I left Christine's and went to CEO bonnyringg plaza, they booked me in straight away and I was impressed with the colour and cut. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and they were flat out.
Friendly service can not argue there. Been here a few times and always had Ok service. Recently, I had a dry cut, my extra long hair was put into a plait and she hacked it off for me to donate. Then cut my hair into a bob. Had to be less than 20 snips. During the cut the hairdresser stepped away for awhile mid cut for a couple of minutes and came back not explaining why she was gone. I left feeling uneasy about paying $60 for just a simple cut and had to be less than 15 minutes of actually time in the seat. Came home and realised the cut was not even. Absolutely shocked by the lack of quality in service. I have shared a photo of the quailty of their work. Whom ever I saw needs to be warned or fired.
What a great experience! Went into the Carnes Hill store and was greeted by the friendly team at the front and immediately handed over to to the stylist Tommy. He was so professional and took the time to ask me questions about my requirements. I dont usually go to salons as I hate the hard sell they often push. But Tommy was not like that. He took the time to understand what I was looking for and gave me great advice about how we can achieve what I'm looking for. He was attentive and professional the result was an amazing color change to my normal routine and then made sure I knew how to take care of my new look when I went home. I recommend Tommy highly and will definitely go back there again.
I went for a wash and blow dry.. I was warned not to go there because they have no idea how to blow dry. I thought it’s only a wash and blow dry what could go wrong. Well, to start with the staff all looked very unhappy to be there. The salon looked dirty and rundown. But most importantly my hair still felt dirty and heavy after it had been washed and blow dried.. I asked the lady blow drying my hair if the shampoo had been washed out properly and she had no idea what I was talking about. The worst part is I was charged $62 for a simple wash and blow dry and still had dirty hair that I needed to get washed again at another salon..Extremely bad service.
Not a great hairdresser. All of the staff are busy on their phones and having personal discussions, each hairdresser attends to everyone else’s business so they never spend proper time and dedication on one persons hair. They charge too much including a “10% surcharge on sundays” which is rubbish considering I made an appointment for 2pm and got seen after 3pm. 2 hairdressers stood around eating while another 2 Did multiple peoples hair and sat me down for over an hour. Don’t bother making an appointment, it means nothing and if you have a big event or time constraints, take your business elsewhere. The hair cutting isn’t very good anyway.
Worst haircut ever! Have very long thick hair all one length and was wanting a bit of a change, had layers done....got home and was a bit flat at the back, went back same afternoon to get an extra layer put in and was told too busy, a five minute job, came back the next day and was treated extremely poorly by Monique, who obviously doesn’t know how to cut layers and rude to top it off! Now I’m left with a blocky layer and a bad experience, after 20 plus years coming to this salon this has certainly left a bad taste in my mouth, time to find another hair salon ☹️☹️☹️ Not happy!
The worst hair salon I’ve ever been to. I received a quote for my hair for a particular price and when I came for my appointment, they wanted to charge me double the amount. The store manager had a really poor attitude wit no manners on how to talk to customers and redress issues. Truly Appalling. She was not cooperative and didn’t take ownership of misquoting my hair. Manager kept talking over me. Worst salon ever. Management needs to fire manager and hire someone with actual people skills. Worst customer service experience. Wasted my time. Never coming back.
Worst experience of my life. The service and the state of the salon was gross. Is it under new management? The salon was actually dirty. One lady had no idea how to cut hair. Charged me a ridiculous amount $79 in total for a trim for two children… when I questioned her she didn’t say much, pretended she couldn’t speak English. Disgraceful and shame to this business. You are ripping customers off and there is no customer service. I WILL NEVER RETURN! And I will make sure I tell everyone not to waste their time or money.
I thought I was visiting a hair salon not a doctors surgery. I wish I could tell you what the stylists were like but i didn't even get my haircut. I booked in for a 10 minute trim at 4pm... Timed in my day to allow me to get to a commitment at 5pm. After waiting for 20 mins I was told it would be at least another 20 minutes. Why the lousy staff didn't tell me it would be 40 minutes when I walked in (to which I would have turned around and walked out not entirely dissatisfied) I will never know. Disgraceful 'service'
My goodness what is this place. My wife had a haircut just today. She had asked for a concave cut. She is almost in tears what they have done with her hair. When she came back home I was shocked to the extent I felt like proceeding legally against them ins some official complaint. They didn't have the decency to clean up even after my wife politely expressed her disappointment. The lady who was doing her hair seemed preoccupied and made the hair extremely short before checking with my wife the length of the hair.
I walked in at 4.15pm to get a men's haircut. Two ladies at the back having a chat, one lady at the front having a chat, no-one in the chairs. The young lady at the front desk said sorry we cannot do it today...this is the second time I have walked in for a haircut in a couple of months and been told sorry they cannot do it today. I will not be trying a third time, nor taking my kids there anymore, they are over priced I know that- but I thought I'd give them a go myself.... horrendous customer service.
I made an appointment on the phone I asked for a treatment and a blow dry, got to my appointment which was not on time but I can understand they are busy so it's okay, but then when It was my turn, she washed my hair but didn't do the treatment like I had asked, she just washed and blow dry and that's it, I think she was in a rush because my hair is so thick and curly and not easy, but I didn't say anything but, I'm sorry but they need to know what customers ask for and it's something they can work on.
Went in today without an appointment and asked to get my son 2years old with autism a haircut ( he asked out of nowhere when we walked past). They sat us down and got his haircut, he obviously went into a meltdown and they were so amazing they were patient and even distracted him and kept him calmer then he has ever been during a meltdown. I can’t thank them girls enough for getting my sons haircut and after all that my son is now loving the hair he asked to be cut. Would highly recommend to anyone !
Went in to get my hair done which i knew well beforehand process was gonna take about 2 hours max as that what is usually is so the hairdresser put the foils in my hair and said it will be about 30mins......1 hour and 15mins later foils are still in even though she has walked past me 20 times in the last hour and not once did she stop to see how i was going . I totally understand that its a very busy salon but you could acknowledge and advise you will be with me shorty.
Had my appointment for 1.00 I didnt end up getting in to 1.40. They then told me it was compulsory to have it washed when I had told them I only booked it in for a style and I wasnt getting it coloured or cut I had already washed it they werent happy. I then told them what I wanted and they said because my hair was to thick they couldn't do it . So they straightened it put a tiny bit of hairspray went outside doesnt look like it has been done. Had to redo it at home.
I am not happy. I have been going there for a long time. Got combed with a dirty brush, had to wash my head when I got home and pull another persons dirty hair off my head. The majority of stylists at this store are good, I have had two negative experiences with the same hair dresser consecutively. Last time I received a cut without a cover to protect my clothes. Perhaps the staff are underpaid, overbooked or both. Cut was Nice, hygiene was disappointing.
Haven’t been to a hairdresser in about 4 + years, I had very very long hair & decided it was time for a change. I had Sandra cut my hair, probably down to my mid back, never been so comfortable in my whole life. She has cut my hair beautifully & is overall a lovely person. Booked another apt for 10 weeks, I’ve found my go to hair salon. The ladies were all very welcoming & professional. Thank you Sandra, you have made me feel very confident !!!!
Shocking service and totally disorganised. My mother-in-law went in for a perm. After 4 hours she had to leave because she was soaking wet down her back and her perm was not finished. Her hair was cut unevenly and was frizzy because the solution was left in and forgotten. To leave a 87 year old for so long unattended, without hydration and soaking wet down her back is irresponsible. Worst experience EVER! Avoid Christiane’s at Carnes Hill.
Called in advance and they suggested a time for an appointment. After arriving on time and being told that it won't be long, I waited 35 minutes before walking out. The last 10 of those minutes were spent waiting in the salon chair. It's a shame because I had been there once before and got my hair cut by Christiane herself and she was great, but I won't be coming back after experiencing this unprofessionalism from select employees
Absolutely horrendous experience booked for regrowth colour, trim, conditioning treatment. The hopless junior smashed the basin onto my spine 4 times without warning and did not treat my hair did not speak to me at all. I tried to talk to her but she was not interested in the slightest I left with a bad hair cut & migraine Would NOT recommend this salon. Only gave one star as you cannot post without any stars
I have alot to write but I will stick to the point as this website is not giving me much space to write. The manager Makaela insisted that I had to pay 10% extra to get my hair done because its a Sunday. Yep that's right they are charging clients extra on Sunday's. Well I didn't get my hair done surprise! surprise! Malaria was also unfriendly and wouldn't dye my hair the color that O wanted
Never been there before, desperate for a haircut I called in hope i could get an appointment. I was booked in with Tommy, the universe was definitely on my side! BEST HAIRCUT EVER!! He took his time, offered advice and definitely knew what he was doing! He is truly gifted! My hair has never looked better! He was friendly and happy and clearly loves what he does. So happy i found him! :)
After all the years we have used been going to this hairdresser our kids and myself and husband have been going there for the last 10yrs We will never be going back at all. How embarrassing my husband hair cut was yesterday for his birthday. I'm not happy with it at all so uneven doesn't even suit him. One very unhappy wife.

I started going to Christiane's in January as my hairdresser Megan moved to their salon, I was a bit nervous to try somewhere new but I'm glad I did :), the staff are friendly the salon is spacious & my hair has never looked better.... Megan does an amazing job Christiane's is now my go to Salon
The girls at Christiane's Hair Design where absolutely wonderful! So accommodating as the superstar angel Lily was able to fit me in at the last minute to redo my extension as they were long overdue. I am very picky with who I let do my hair and I would 100% recommend to my friends and family!!
My stylist was more interested in the music she kept changing on her phone rather than focusing on what she was doing well that was in the beginning it got better. Afterwards I got home yo realise that the white hair was not covered. I called and they asked me to come n ack do it can be fixed.
Absolutely not happy with my hair what I paid for i didn't get. Even going back twice and still didn't get my foils. Differently not going back ever☹ $236 for convenience but not worth it people. I made an appointment and still two and half hours later rushed to finish still not satisfactory.
I went from blonde to red with extensions. All the girls where so amazing throughout the process, hyping me up, talking to me. I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience and result. Massive massive thank you to Kara and deb you guys completely captivated the look I wanted to achieve.
Just got a cut and colour... cut was uneven.. not sure if she knew how to use a n electric razor.. black colour left all over my face. Ended up going to another place just to get it fixed. No "attention to detail" service at all. What a waste of my $100!! Never ever going there again.
Lily looked after me on a busy Saturday afternoon 12/11/22. I had a busy morning and not feeling the best walked in. Lily has been a super Angel by not only looking after my hair but going extra mile by getting me a mango splash drink. Lily has exceeding great customer service level.
As a bride I was seeking a bridal trial for my hair, my experience was the hair dresser/lady just ran her fingers through my hair and did not even style my hair the way I wanted to, I walked out of the salon the same way I walked in and was charged for it. Never returning again.
Mikaela at Christiane's Hair Design Carnes Hill is a very competent and professional at her job, Mikaela and her staff were friendly and welcoming which made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I will highly recommend them to everybody. 10 out 10 from me.
Look I know it mit have taken long to do my hair but the colour is great on my hair yes I like it. I thing people need to have patience and let the hairdresser do there job and we mit not have to wait to long thank you for a great colour.
Good service, great hairdressers and good price. Ask for Makayla. She’s a great little hairdresser and knows how to cut hair! Once you become a regular they just know what to do with you when your in the salon! New cut and loving it.

Extremely disappointed and embarassed that I had to get a haircut immediately after having a haircut at Christianes. Asked for a 1 tapered at the back with a high fade... Walked out with a bowl cut and a step.. disgusted
This place was absolutely horrible I went there and they told me to sit down I waited 30 minutes and the staff were cutting their own hair staring at me with dirty looks I just walked out will never come here again!
Would rather stand and talk to each other on what festival where going to on the weekend or club which guy I kissed on the weekend then serve a customer. Never would walk in there again leave your ego at home toula.

Lovely atmosphere- the stylists are great. Such hard workers always- Dee and Monique are so lovely. The dynamic in that salon is just fun. Never had a dud!!!
I had my hair extensions done by Mikaela she was so professional at what she does and I’m extremely happy with her work. I highly recommend her to anyone.
