No wonder parking inspectors are hated so much. My daughter and I travelled 3.5 hours to attend a gymnastics competition that ran for 3 hours. No adequate parking for that timeframe and not able to get out to move my car. From memory there were two disabled parking spots outside Gymnastics Victoria and they were both being utilised so I had to find parking elsewhere that wasn't far from the venue so I could actually walk to the event, I'm awaiting hearing back from DVA about weather I am now classed as TPI Veteran or not and on a bad day (post travelling commonly) I cannot walk far. Pretty dissapointed to get a parking fine. I have no doubt the inspector knew there was an event on and was sniffing out anyone to fine.... bloody dogs. Wont bother returning anytime soon. Only rating 1 star as it wont let me put zero

Echoing the sentiments of other reviewers here, the Parking Infringements issued by this Council are beyond a joke. They must make a good deal of money from having so many unscrupulous inspectors roaming non-stop and fining everyone for everything, including in extreme emergencies. The Council will never withdraw a fine during an "internal review" and they actually have their own court hearing days with the Melbourne Magistrates Court where they refer everyone who doesn't pay...what other council does that??? I think it's time someone actually does something about this...Council exists to represent the serve the rate-payers, not to rip-off everyone off for their own benefit. This Council is a scam and a joke.

Stonnington continues to provides a sub-standard service for street sweeping. This time last year the excuse was that ‘our street-sweepers have broken down and we only have one operating’. Guess what; their excuse today, on 1st May 2023, is exactly the same! You would think that someone would think to service the street-sweepers before Autumn. Apparently not. Or if they did, evidently it is high time they were replaced if they break down after only 6 weeks work. Given Council’s budget is $70 million p.a. you would think they more than enough money to double their fleet of street-sweepers and provide ratepayers with a proper service.

A notice of planning permit application from the council regarding my neighbour’s house external alterations within a Heritage Overlay made me very upset. As a new Immigrant, I am not familiar with the process at all. With trepidation I called the Statutory Planner in charge, Nick McFarlane. To my surprise, Nick was so nice over the phone. He explained the process to me very clearly, answered my queries patiently, promised he would take my concerns into consideration, and offered help to pass on those out of his job scope to the right party in charge. Regardless the outcome, I’d like to sincerely thank Mr McFarlane for all his help.

A council that is focus in milking money and not providing a proper service that we ratepayers paid for! It's not just their methods in fining and issuing infringement notices that is the problem. Its their staff too! Had raised a concern and objection about a development nearby that was subject to planning. Contacted the senior statutory planner in charge of this planning application. Not only was Tom Edwards unhelpful, but his understanding of the planning rules and regulation was appalling. I question how this council hires people that is not qualified! So my council rates goes to wages of incompetence!

These guys are the worst. I got a parking fine while picking my brother up from hospital in a wheel chair because all the pick up areas were full. I had no choice but to double park for literally less then 5 minutes while they wheeled him out in his chair and I got a fine. I disputed it and their response was too bad you Parker illegally. Any other council would go, yeah that's fair enough extenuating circumstances. Not this council. I hope karma comes back around and gets this lot.

The parking officer is just running around before the time over for the parking to write an infringement for the driver if hhey not moving there car in 1an half an hour in 2 hours zone i had changed the parking at 1pm i have been back at 1.58pm to move my car i sow the officer was walking down the road and the notice was on my car It's discussting. When I asked them for an evidence they couldn't provide me an evidence ripping people hard working mony at easy way

Revenue-raising dogs would be the most polite way to describe Stonnington. Got a strong feeling that all the money coming in from fines goes towards hiring more inspectors. Would you believe that I was booked in a 2-hour zone even though I was only there for 54 minutes?? Tried appealing and as expected was rejected. The worst Council in Victoria, HQ needs to be burnt to the ground. 1 star is too many stars. negative stars would be too kind.

I have never seen many tickets given out despite the limitations of car parking and only 2 hours limit. Not to mention the sign easily get you trapped. Money hunger at it finest and dirtiest. I work all day in armadale and couldn’t find parking in the morning constantly get tickets from them even though i have to come to work 1 hours early to find parking. So disgusting the way they earn the money from someone’s half day pay.

Staff who sit behind the keyboard where they can say and do whatever they want with absolutely no accountability. You provide literal evidence against their claims and the response indicates that they have no awareness or understanding of things that were taught in primary school. Disappointingly, it's pretty on brand.

What I would like to know is why I physically watched one of your parking inspectors draw marks on peoples tyres and fine them straight away? - they haven’t hit their KPI’s so they’ve fined 6 cars to get their numbers up? I would love to see how many contested fines your council knocks back. - absolute dogs.

They enforce arbitrary parking rules under the appearance of 'benefits' for residents as a money making scheme that ultimately lines their own pockets. I am not religious but I hope one day every piece of paper they touch gives them a paper cut and every pen they use leaks

I called today with some queries regarding parking permits. Helen from customer care was amazing! She was very knowledgeable, friendly and went above and beyond her role, finding out all the information I needed. Thank you for a wonderful experience:)

To be fair. I disputed a parking fine based on confusing street parking signage. The compliance office took all my arguments into consideration, responded to each observation individually, and withdrew the fine. Not everyone is out to get us.

I called the council who organised an urgent response vehicle to help me recover my mobile phone from the drain on Chapel St. Nick from urgent response services was amazing! So kind and professional. He saved my day! Thank you

My partner is diabetic was having a hypo so I stopped in a taxi zone the only spot available THREE MINUTES before it became a 15 minute park. Wouldn’t accept any photos. $185 for a couple minutes

No consideration to the workers of the area who keep shops open. $185 for stopping for 1 minute. Got an absurd amount of inspectors moping around all day.

Got a parking fine despite displaying my residential parking permit. Apply for permits, follow the rules and get fined. Daylight robbery

Worst council for fines, don’t expect any deliveries, avoid this greedy money stealing council.

Read the one star reviews carefully. Stonington would have to the worst council in the country.
