Did not have a positive experience at all with this law firm. They accepted my real estate file for the purchase of 2 tenant occupied units on the 21st of April, and on the 3rd of May (with a closing date of May 6th), called to inform me they would no longer represent me because they had not received mortgage instructions from the bank. There was zero attempt to contact me, zero attempt to contact the bank, zero attempt to contact my realtor, and zero attempt to modify the file or find some sort of solution to the problem. Instead I was left hanging with a contract that was due in three days and with no representation. I was ultimately unable to close the real estate transaction on time due to the short notice I was given. Clint's excuse was that they were to busy to work for this file and that they were turning down longer standing clients so why would he bother with this one. That decision should have been made on the 21st of April when they first accepted the file so I could have found other arrangements. Zero code of conduct, zero onus to finish what he started, and zero due diligence to seek out mortgage instructions. Also ZERO concern that myself and my realtor would be filing a complaint. Will also be filing a complaint with the law society. Zero's all around!

I'm really disappointed with my latest experience with Clark & Clark. Firstly, I was quoted $300 for some work which I agreed to. They failed to notify me that the $300 did not include disbursements which totaled almost $900 leaving me with a $1200 bill which I did not consent to. Secondly, I had asked for a to have a contract done up for the clients of my education and service based small business. I was given a document of over 10 pages long which included cut and paste sections from my self-written contract including sections which I explicitly said should not be included. When I gave my feedback that a 10 page contract was not client friendly and that the content was not correct, I was told to submit another large chunk of money as retainer for more work to be done. Maybe this is how all lawyers operate, but in any other business there would be a conversation instead of just charging more to fix the document that wasn't done to the clients needs. I do not recommend for small business.

The experience overall was a 3 out of 5 due to a lack of administrative preparedness prior to the meetings with the lawyers. There was a zoom link required that my wife had to ask for multiple times and did not receive it till 3 minutes before the meeting, leaving no time for tech check. Additionally, there was a lack of communication and explanation of what was being asked of us and why from administration prior to our meetings. There were also delays in responses from the administrative assistant. The outstanding part of our experience was our meetings with the lawyers which were professional, easy and informative.

I see the 5 stars but our experience was very different. It might have been because we were moving from the US which has some nuance compared to a regular move. That said, there seemed to be poor communication within the office. We dealt with several paralegals and had to go over the same details numerous times. Plus, they didn’t seem to be on top of things and we were continually up against deadlines. Not to mention that they accused us of being tardy when the issue was with the broker. Maybe we just had some bad luck because we also had issues with our mortgage broker who suffered from the same issues.

It took them days to provide me with cheques and blamed the opposing counsel for the delays. Bad reputation, too costly, cannot be trusted.
