There is not one staffed checkout here, not even for large trolley loads of groceries. Working as a checkout operator was my first job when I was 16. I am not going to do that now, especially when I am not being paid to do it, and more importantly, because my doing it means someone else isn't being paid to do that job either. Secondly, when I walked towards the new exit gate to leave the store, it didn't automatically open. I was looking around, and soon realised that the gate had to be opened via remote control (by the working supervising). That measure might be justified as a means to reduce loss due to theft. Purely automated checkouts introduce greater losses due to theft as well. It is not difficult to deduce that, whatever those losses are, they are less than the cost of employing people to do the job of a checkout operator. Both of these changes represent a disrespectful orientation to customers, and one that is certainly not balanced by particularly friendly staff or other compensations. Even more concerning is the suggestion that less able-bodied people might scan their own groceries and have to pack their bags. Sure, you could perhaps claim that people who require assistance might ask for the help of a staff member. However, those groups were previously spared the potential indignity of having to ask, and that should be maintained. Lastly, marketplaces have forever been important places for people to interact. However incidental, these interactions may be of particular importance for the elderly, or socially isolated. It is a slight of hand that this customary way for customers and staff to interact has simply disappeared.

As a regular patron of Coles, but soon to be ex, I think it's necessary to voice my concerns regarding their pricing structure and the increasing use of automation. Over time, I've noted that the cost of goods at Coles is continually rising, which is somewhat disconcerting considering the competitive market. In the current climate, one would expect a supermarket to make concerted efforts to provide value for money to retain its customer base. Unfortunately, my experience with Coles has been quite the opposite. The pricing often pushes me to consider other shopping alternatives where I can get more bang for my buck. Another notable concern is the increased reliance on automated tellers. Companies adopt such technologies for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, but this should ideally translate into savings for customers too. At Coles, despite the introduction of automated tellers presumably cutting staff costs, a customer is yet to see a positive impact on product pricing. If these cost-saving measures do not eventually lead to customer savings, one has to question their overall purpose and effect on the shopping experience. In conclusion, while Coles remains a convenient shopping option, the continual increase in pricing and concerns over the use of automation without evident customer benefits make me reconsider my shopping choices. I hope Coles takes note of this feedback and works towards ensuring better value for its patrons. Plus the fact that Coles's profit was over one billion dollars in the last financial tax year

Been shopping here my entire life. While yes it is somewhat small, it's still big enough to have a huge variety of items and great products for a reasonable price. More often than not, the staff there are great but you'll sometimes encounter someone a little less enthusiastic or helpful than the regular employee. It does appear a little understaffed, but so far it's still managing perfectly! I especially love the festive time decorations and items, as it blasts me with nostalgia and the decorations just look fantastic. Customer service is actually very good, checkouts are quick, and if they've run out of stock they'll always check storage for you to make sure you get the product you ask for. Their bread is awesome but it runs out quick, as you'd expect from beautiful stone baked bread. It's also very convenient and close to my area. I recommend if you're passing by, as the complex also includes an Aldi, a Sushi Sushi, a handful of clothes shops, foreign food shops like Asian stores, and a wonderful fruit/veggie store. Plus a bakery and phone repair service, butcher, fish store and so much more!

It's fine for your standard Coles supermarket. And they've done well considering the current situation. However, some of the higher level staff are quite often rude (they honestly believe they are "above" talking to customers, and fob you off to a teenager). I couldn't care who I speak to, just as long as they know what I'm looking for. It's funny, because the teenagers usually have better knowledge of where things are =) Also, they've recently taken out the complete deli section which is a shame because it had nice produce and courteous staff.

A very nice shopping center, but doesn't have good customer service, most people who work here have no knowledge of half the items in the shop. They really struggle to answer questions about the food, and the waiting line is very long. The self - service system is very bad as if you simply place the item down in the wrong bag you get an error, usually helpers come and check. The customer service team is very rude, I suggest you don't go here, if you need to shop groceries go to the Aldi next to Braybrook Coles.

Wont be shopping here anymore.. coles central west has been mums weekly shop for years.. they have recently changed checkouts to all self service ..there was not a single register with an actual person for service.. how is an elderly person supposed to struggle through a checkout with a large load of shopping??? She was very distressed. ! Also what happened to the jobs of the staff that were working there?? At the very least i think their hours would be cut down quite alot. Not impressed coles!

Honestly .it's the worst Coles I have stepped into . because .it's cold .were in track pants etc .these .indian security is ridiculous aswell as the little chubby break lady .I'm no theith .I have to live here .but what made me laugh is whilst ...I was showing my personal belongings the real bloody shoppers theiths were walking straight past them .I find that unbloodybelievable. .. think they need to be retrained .and .there is never anything on the shelfs

Rude older lady Katerina serving at Express Check Outs 20/10/2021 1:30pm. I Wanted to buy 5 $250 gift cards they had 10% discount and said I can only buy 4 when the catalogue says 5 per customer. Asked me to go elsewhere and buy if I wanted 5? Bad service, will visit elsewhere next time By reading other reviews here, seems to be a lot of rude staff complaints here. There's better service at other Coles close by 2 mins drive away on Ballarat Road

  • Anthony Radford (Antz)

This would have to be one of the worst run Coles supermarket I have ever been in, for the following reasons: * None of the staff, older and newer alike, seem to have even a general idea of where products are shelved * A particular staff member (not mentioning any names KATARINA) will judge you by the clothes you wear and will instantly accuse you of theft (even when you're innocent) * EVERY SINGLE CHECKOUT IS NOW SELF SERVICE!!

  • rupi batth

Now coles started to use self service check out. Wasting customer time. Can anyone think about how many employees will be jobless with this system. Company saving their own money and getting profit on it by snaching jobs from coles worker. If the people don't earn money then how they will survive without daily living things. It will happen surely in the future.Technology is always dangerous over the limit

  • Donna Watson

Some of the staff there are very rude, mainly the old ducks who have been working there for years, but very quick to judge and look u up and down before asking to see in your bag or shopping cart and then seem annoyed to find that you haven't stolen anything. Their general demeanour is quite standoffish and you won't get a smile from any of them. Younger staff however are pleasant and welcoming

  • Chun Su

A few times I asked the staff to check if they had certain items at the back but they always came back empty handed quite quickly, I wonder if they actually looked for it or their inventory management has huge issue. The one in Ashley St seems a bit better when it comes to this, I felt like they genuinely went and looked hard and most of the time, they were able to give me what I asked for.

  • Coco Tran

Pam is the name of the worst staff ever I have ever seen in my life. 3 times happened. She is rude, unacceptable to the customers! Be aware if you buy lot of stuff, she will not appreciate but judging, staring at you if you need help because she doesn’t want to help you! She stands next to you to see if you steal anything but very unhappy if you need her helps with the failed system!!

Every single time I've made the mistake of shopping here instead of a different Coles, the wheelchair trolley, that they insist exists, has been missing. It's never used by someone else in store, nor is it near any of the disabled parks as one would expect. I did, however find it today, and I thought I'd share what this place thinks is an acceptable place to keep wheelchair trolleys

  • Thomas Sully

Its convent because its close. if you live more then a 10 minutes drive from here don't bother. there service is good but not that good. Most of the time there bread is out of stock and i have to wait in a 12 person long line to ask when it comes back in stock. Its horribly under staffed. I actually feel sorry for the staff. Overall its good just those few minor details.

  • Trinh Le

Today at 6:45pm when I was shopping at Coles Braybrook, I exchanged my points to flybuys dollars, but suddenly I forgot my PIN. I asked a staff member at the check-out section for help, but all she said was “You have to remember your PIN.” Way to go Coles. If that’s how you treat your loyal customers then don’t be surprised when they switch to Aldi or Woolworths.

  • Cath Munro

I have seen this store go from fully staffed with friendly people on the checkouts to completely self serve. The range is not as good as other Coles and the fresh produce is not to grade. Their theft here must be huge without staffed checkouts. So disappointing as the staff who did work on the checkouts before were excellent.

  • Ravi Kanth Nishtala

Convenient location. Ample parking places. Good range of stock available and mostly very friendly staff. Not as clean as the Braybrook Coles but definitely comparable in product availability and prices of course. Trolleys are locked, and would need a coin to unlock but that probably is down to the neighbourhood statistics.

  • Ebony Howald

Great selection of nuts from the dispenser, at first they were hard to find since they are usually in the second isle but these ones were in front of the fruit and vegetable section. Regardless, good specials and friendly staff. Would recommend stoping by if you're going for a weekend trip further out west.

  • Thomas Gleeson

It's always dirty and feels like it should have more stock than it does. While the staff are friendly, asking where goods are will ensure their confusion and guarantees your frustration. I tend to avoid this Coles now the Braybrook one is open but if you need milk, bread, eggs etc...its fine to pop into.

  • Chicken Kebab (Chicken Kebab)

The new checkouts are great! Very easy to use, plus there were MULTIPLE staff members around to help. It’s a great store. I’m guessing a lot of these reviews have come from the media and not from actual customers at this store. If you’re so unhappy with it then go down the road to sunshine….

  • bae328

All service checkouts have been removed. Not shopping at Coles again because this is happening everywhere - Moonee Ponds, Greensborough. Bye Bye Coles, I'll give my $100 a week grocery spend to an independent supermarket like La Manna or Saccas which actually have customer service.

  • Jacinda Delaney

Absolutely appalled to go and shop this morning and see there are no longer any assisted check outs. Shopping is extremely stressful with a toddler on a challenging day and checking out a large shop on your own while trying to wrangle a child is fairly impossible.

  • Mohamud hussein

I have never felt more discriminated in my life by the two elder women at the check outs. They are so quick to judge you based of your skin colour. There need to be changes as this is the second time I’ve experienced racial discrimination at coles Braybrook.

  • Kevin Davis

Was very surprised to find this site so well organised and stocked. Staff were also helpful and friendly. As far as Coles goes this is definitely one of the good stores. Still able to find everything I need and a decent variety to choose from.

  • Erin K

All the big chain supermarkets are pretty much of the same ilk. I will say that I like this Coles for its proximity and because it's close to other good businesses nearby; such as the Asian grocer, Sacca's, Aldi, florist, butcher, bakery etc.

  • Jessica T Phan

Very rude customer services here!!! There 3 ladies speaking all over the place when I were standing there and ask for return/exchange. Im sure they are mature enough to well explain everything instead of being rude. I asked if I can contact

  • Katrina Hoang

Customer service is always bad here. When the no bags policy came out and they were giving out free bags, I happened to forget my bags. OMG I was made to feel that that was the biggest mistake I had done in my life. The guy there took out a

  • Cat Broad

Multiple times I have been here, there has been pallets dumped in the middle of aisles. Tonight, there was a fully loaded one taking up 3/4 of the aisle. Only enough room for a person to walk through. No way would a trolley or a wheelchair

  • Joseph Lyons

The checkout gate slammed on me (yes, on me, not in front of me, on me) as I was walking out, with no warning. Completely unacceptable and unwarranted considering I paid for everything. These checkout gates are a lawsuit waiting to happen.

  • Catherine Saez

Clean store. Fresh produce. Staff are generally really friendly. However the bakery is where I mark down; asking them to slice bread is like pulling teeth which is ironic considering they have it plastered everywhere that if you "want it

  • Lyn San

I had the best customer service experience name Shelley this morning. Being 30 weeks pregnant, she had taken my heavy coles basket out of my hands kindly and served me immediately at the counter, taking that extra initiative was very

  • Gween KRIV

Gradually gone down hill from opening. In the past 6 months have been rammed by on line pickers with their huge trollies. Constantly full of online pickers that trying to navigate the isles has become a choir. Isles blocked by store

  • Ola

I have to say the team in your branch is great. Lovely older ladies like Lidiya and another lady which name I haven’t noticed are always really helpful and super friendly . I love the layout of the store, however I miss the deli :(.

  • Ash Fraser

How long till the sign goes up to say don’t bother coming into our store? No checkouts any more, all self serve. How long till it’s 100% self serve and you can sack all those expensive staff Coles. Seriously disappointing!!!!

  • Shane March

An average Coles with no dedicated deli and only has self checkout which has not been set up properly. Sensors don't stop product getting crushed at the end. I now have a back of red rock deli crumbs instead of crisps.

  • judy ellis

I love the self service I go at my own pace not being rushed and most times the people who serve you don't even talk not even a hello so what happened to being polite to the customer or did that just go out the window

  • Anna Koehne

Polite staff, well stocked. Tuesday's 10:30-11:30 quiet hour works well, albeit fairly busy for other people benefitting from quiet hour. Would be good if quiet hours were extended and/or ordered multiple days.

  • Mary J

Shout out to Caterina tonight had to do a work shop at peak hour and she never once complained of the amount if items and was do helpful from the word go unlike other experiences where they get annoyed

  • John G

Weird experience when I was waiting at the register waiting to be served. I was asked "what do you want?". Lol..I want to shop is what I want. Profits are up and guess what? Down down, Service is down.

  • T HB

Two elderly white women at check out usually work at night shifts, Very RUDE & RACIST! If you don’t like to see other skin colour Customers then just LEAVE YOUR JOB LADY! …

  • Karlee A.

My favourite supermarket. Have been a customer for years. All the staff I encountered are helpful and accommodate me whenever I have queries. I don't think I'll change my supermarket of choice.

  • Ian Souter

What is with the self service at all registers? I will never shop at any Coles, that introduces this this system. Most ratings i give are favourable but this one get a ZZZZZ ++++++

  • Lynne White

Pretty nice store! I gave 4 stars coz i could not get the cat food my cats eat there! No name tuna! Although to be fair I could not get it at woollies either!

  • Tim Peterson

WARNING: No serviced registers. All are self-service. Disappointing that Coles offload this job to customers rather than employing people. Go elsewhere.

  • Graham C

I avoid this Coles - not only do they force you to provide free labour, they then literally lock you in if their scanner accuses you of being a thief.

  • Jim p

Very poor customer service. One check out open and a long queue waiting. Management put pressure on that one cashier with total disregard for their

  • Roy Ro

Very very rude two elder employees who do nothing at the checkout but being racist and complaining to customers. Worst customer service ever

  • Stephanie Leigh

No staffed checkouts. Elderly people struggle to work out how to do it themselves while staff stand around talking amongst themselves.

  • Thi Ng

Came in around 8:30pm. Saw a woman serving someone buying cigarettes so I lined up. She huffily told me to go self check out. …. Ok???

  • Throwaway Art

Overly dependent on self-checkouts, and certain parts of their fresh produce can occasionally run low.

  • Andrew Basile (Drew)

Quiet and peaceful area so naturally quiet and peaceful ✌️ except the fruit market which is bustling

  • A Y

This Coles is a smaller one by the standards here and the product range also reflects the size.

  • Peter K

Excellent store nice layout great selection. Everything you need in one location well done.....

  • V Sure

Clean and well organised Coles supermarket in the shopping centre.

  • Dave Kelly

Never been inside but the coffee shop at the front is excellent.

  • Akhil Reddy Anantha

Great deal of prices, some products are exclusive to this Coles.

  • Kathleen Byrne

Easy to park plenty of grocery items and nice shop assistants

  • Cameron J

Self check out only. Who do I invoice for my labour?

  • Maurice Gelsumini

It's a shocker and staff are so rude
