Updated Oct 23: I hate the place now, robotic and cashless. It's grim, depressing, anxiety provoking and service is thin on the ground. I valued people and cash. It's a bit average and dated. The staff are amazing, but the store could definitely be modernised. It reminds me of a 1990s Kwik-Save in the UK. I think the whole brand could be modernised compared to their green counterparts lol. Produce has generally always been good. The baskets by the freezers is like Aldi's middle aisle and you find both great and terrible products in there. What can you say other than it's just another supermarket lol.

Went this morning to grab a few necessities, the one assisted checkout they have here was unmanned as usual, self checkouts were obviously quite busy as a result. Went to scan the three items I grabbed but a second after I got to the checkout an employee was beside me telling me I had to scan the largest item first. I guess this is a new “loss prevention” scheme Coles is implementing, but I’m capable of scanning my items myself without direction from your employees. Intense security, assisted checkouts taped off and piled up with shopping trolleys, staff breathing down your neck. Rancid vibes!

One of the better Coles stores in the area, specifically when you compare it to the two Richmond stores, this easily trumps those two. Firstly it’s bigger and has more variety. They stock my favourite cut of beef; rib eye on bone! Pretty much every cut of steak was available, from organic grown, to Coles’ packaged brand, down to the lamb and pork offerings. Lovely to see some history of the original store. Would love to see them open it up as some sort of display to know more of this national household name.

The cashier was new and not trained fully, she was not supervised, which lead to the line growing out of hand. Didn’t know what a rain check was, unsure if she knew math as I got 2 items for $5 and she charged me an extra $3, insisting its the correct amount. I got told “she is not that bad, she has been trained.” Took them an extra 10 mins to get my $3 back, and I was on a tight schedule and my parking about to expire. This was my first time at this coles, and it was definitely my last too.

Went to deli today to buy seafood highlighter. They always seem to be out every time I go in. I don't quite get it because it comes in frozen and it's cheap so how much waste are they trying to save? Well today it's finally in and it's still in the packet half frozen. When I asked for a piece he said no because it's still frozen.. really.. lol I get it's no big deal but customer service is just NOT there! It's really not that hard to break a piece off. Lets see if i get a response on this!

April 1914 first Coles store opens on Smith Street, Collingwood. Today the original Coles store looks as good as the day it opened. Several never before seen images going back over 100 years are on display. The iconic curved glass either side of the entrance are typical of the 1900's. I remember when people would mostly visit Smith Street to shop, visit post office and buy a lotto ticket. Totally people from from all over Melbourne visit their favourite shops 7 days a week day and night.

Ordered groceries online yesterday which were confirmed for 2.30-3.30PM delivery. Contacted customer service at 4.30PM - no response. Groceries still not delivered by 9.30PM. Zero accountability from Coles. Zero appreciation that I was left with no groceries for my family for the week. They cancelled my order and offered me a twenty dollar voucher. I didn’t need $20 - I needed my groceries. Outrageously bad customer service.

This Coles store is massive and also found out it is one of the oldest Coles stores with over 100 years of history. Saw the historic site and was amazed by the history of Coles supermarkets...I would come back to this supermarkers. They shelf lots of good quality fresh ingredients compared to other Coles stores. Highly recommended!!!! Bought some amazing prawns and some nice pork mince here.....

No facility for dog and not allowed to even leave them at the entrance. Security guard jon insulting, telling me my dog is dirty, responded my dog was likely to be cleaner than him and he kept on telling me I was dirty. Mental moron!!! Don't know where coles get their Security guard but they need to review who they hire!!! So different from the coles in Johnson st!

It's ok as long as you can find what is supposed to be on the shelf as staff are not helpful when asked to assist in finding things. They either can't assist because only the duty manager would be able to help and none were currently working or they are dismissive.

Yo my eyes are happy. They usually have everything I need. But I hate how I have to use the assisted check outs at night cause human-human check out isn’t an option. It’s my day off and I’m exhausted but here I am scanning my groceries like I work here. Bruhh

junkies and homeless out front and general seedy vibe. Also staff not helpful with click and collect advising it would be brought upstairs then told I have to walk to the basement to collect on foot ?

Huge coles market , it has everything you need, however, this coles does not have organic vegetables and fruits section . Not yet at lease. Go to Woolworth up the road on aunt Maggie on the corner

The original Coles store in Collingwood is still there as store front from early last century. They usually try at Coles and excel at most areas and in daily mark downs or bargains at end of day.

Guys, if you don't want to work, don't work, you don't need to be mean to people. You shouldn't be rude to people who ask you for help. If this job isn't for you, you can go and do an uber.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Has all food available what I need with suitable prices. Place was clean and tidy and very busy. Over all 9/10.

Big supermarket, with lots of varieties. Car park entrance is a bit narrow, free parking for coles customers, ample spaces.

  • A R

Blah. Bring your money to use the trolleys. You are photographed at checkouts to prevent stealing.
