I forced to put 1 star in order to post this. I would select minus 4 stars if i can. I am a family man with a professional job who resided in Hoppers Crossing, Victoria for more than 10 years. My wife and my 3 girls have been a regular customer to the newly upgraded Hoppers Crossing Shopping Centre. Particularly, myself being a regular customer who visited the Coles supermarket in this Centre at least 2 to 3 times a week. On the 17 July 2017, approximately 20:36 hour, I visited Coles supermarket in this Shopping Centre. Just like every each time before, I was enjoying shopping while video calling with my overseas relative. But this time there are 2 hostile Coles staff members walk up to me and say that i am either taking images or recording one of the member staff in the store and i must put back my groceries to the shelves and leave the store immediately. I was shocked and not sure what to react but try to explain that I am just video calling my relative. I even show the Cole’s staff my mobile screen which still has my relative live online. At this point, I force to end the video call. Without being asked by the Coles ‘staff member, i voluntary open up all the videos and images albums in my mobile to let them go through one by one. I want to clear my name for being accused for something that I did not do. The staff member (later on i learnt he is the Store manager) went through all video and images on my phone but couldn't find anything that he claimed what i did. Then he says is my video call that captures one of the employees who’s made the compliant to him. Then i remember that i did point my mobile to the Pringles (potatoes chips) that is on sale to my relative on video call but i am certain i did not point my mobile to anyone, I explained. At this point, I was being force to leave the store. I felt humiliated and being wrongly accused. I then say to the staff that i do not know it is illegal to have video call in supermarket. I do video call every time while I am shopping in this store before. Coles should make it clear to the customer that video calling is prohibited and need not to be so hostile. I do corporate and walk myself out of the store. I was still in shock about the incident after i got into my car in the car park. I never felt so humiliated before and still puzzle what had just happened. I then walk back in to the centre trying to find out who i can talk to to make myself understand. As soon as a store member behind the front desk saw me from far, she raised her voice say: "You've been escorted out and you shouldn't be here" I replied: Ï did not been escorted out, i walk myself out of the store and i like to talk to someone to find out what had just happened. Even before I can finished my sentence, the store manager quickly walk toward me from far and say: "You can’t come back at all, go away!" then the store manager signaled the security guard standing nearby and say: "Get him out and make sure he don’t come back!". I was even more shocked. This security guard start yelling at me and i can also hear some of the Coles member join in the accusation at the background. The whole incident i did not even raise my voice or hostile to anyone at all but the security guard keep yelling and i cant even get a word across. I explained that I just want to know what i had done wrong? The security guard yelled even louder to my face "You know what you did!" and "You can complain all you want or even go ahead to sue us.......get out and dont come back!!!! The security guard also yelled things that degraded me like “ïf you cant read don’t speak at all just get out..”etc etc. All other shop goers are staring at me like i am a criminal. Walk back to my car, sitting there in shock, shaking but mostly puzzling in my head. I was quite depressed the next day.
I had an extremely bad shopping experience in Coles Hoppers Crossing Station today. I wanted to purchase 2 tins of infant formula and went straight to the self-checkout area. When I was about to pay, two coles staff came to me and said I was banned from shopping in this coles. I asked them why, they told me it was due to I took a photo of what I bought in my shopping basket, which was not allowed. What a ridiculous reason it was! Have you had any signs showing taking photo is not allowed? Which legislation says you could not take a photo in the supermarket? Is taking a phone against the law? I asked them for their names, they even lied to me and not telling me their real names. One of the staff told me his name was "Bob" however I dealt with this guy before and I knew his name was "Matt". Why they don't even dare to let their customers know their real names. Because they know they're bullshitting. The reason they provided was ridiculous. Then the issue got escalated to their manager. They claimed it was due to I'm an aggresive customer. I asked them what do they mean by "aggressive". They said it was due to I made a complaint against them in the past. If the customer services provided was not satisfactory, as a customer, I could not even make a complaint? If we complaint in the past that means we cannot shop in this shop any longer? What is the rationale for this? I did not talk to anyone in the shop, I just went straight to buy the stuff I wanted and I even used self-checkout. Which part of my activy was considered as "aggressive"? This is totally not acceptable. Due to the infant formula shortage, a customer can buy 2 tins as a daily limit. I have not been in this shop before today. I am obeying the 2 tins limit. I am paying for my purchase, not stealing! Why I could not purchase what I want! The staff in your organisation shows no respect to their customers! Use non-sense reasons/excuses. The manager was even worse! Not helping to resolve the issue and even use inappropriate reasons too! It is a shame
It could have been better and it could have been worse. The store itself is a decent size however the layout is not the easiest to navigate - I have definitely seen better setups in other Coles stores. The range of products was pretty much your standard for every Coles, and the availability of products on the shelves was also in line with other places - yes there was a lot of shelf-space empty however that's not due to the fault of Coles it is due to problems with supply that is faced throughout the country. I did go later in the evening, and although the deli should have still been open it was already partially packed up and the deli worker appeared to not want to serve any more customers even though it was within the hours they still should have been operating. At this time too, the people who stopped the shelves had already commenced their work, which definitely made it hard to navigate the store as large trolleys and pallets were scattered throughout each aisle - please don't get me wrong I do understand that this is something that has to be done in a supermarket, however it used to be something done after hours causing no problems for the customers. Now that Coles has made the decision to do so during the hours of stores open to customers, I think they might like to reassess how this is done if it definitely takes away from the customers shopping experience and could be possibly done in a much better way. The staff members at the checkout appeared to be disnterested in the job they do, and came across as very abrupt and unfriendly. I found this to be particularly the case with the staff member at the service desk who appeared quite put out when I was making an enquiry regarding a product I could not find, and really made me feel like I was being too much of a hassle in asking. So overall this is really not the nicest of experiences when I went shopping there, and I would definitely seek alternative places to shop in the future
The supermarket's layout is excellent and the choice of items is fantastic! However, the check-out service is appalling. After queuing in a long line, we, the customers tend to speak to each other and have agreed that no matter what the time of day, there are NEVER enough check-outs open to satisfactorily service customers in reasonable time. Some of us have spoken to some of the managers with the same old story of 'this is a slow sales time' so we don't have enough staff!! NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! Particularly when one disgruntled customer told me that even when he and his wife have shopped at the store during 'peak sales time', the situation is STILL the same. I decided to leave my shopping in the trolley because of the queuing issue and visited Woolworths which is virtually next door. What a huge difference! There was only one trolley in front of mine as opposed to 3 full trolleys from Coles.
19 July 2017. Around 4:00pm. I went to this coles to buy 1 baby formuler for my son. I can not find the baby formuler inside of shop. Then I walk out, I saw there are a lot of baby formulae in the front desk where the place for display cigarette. I ask one of the stuff, can I buy one plz. Before I ask, another stuff jump out and question me , she said did you come here today. If you come here before, u can not buy any baby formuler. The problem is I never come here before, she question me in front of all customer, may me feel like idiots. It make me very upset. I would not go back to this coles again.
It's a big Coles with big isles and fully stocked in Hoppes crossing shopping center, like the vibe of this store. Plenty of checkouts available. Maybe the need for cleaning the floors looks very dirty with stains. Self checkout is terrible, it took me more than 15 minutes to complete the check out and have to ask for staff help 4 times, Coles really needs to upgrade their store. I never had this bad experience in any other Coles. Price tags are incorrect and at checkout it shows the wrong price.
Coles fresh flat bread It is terrible to see how coles has resorted to cheap tactics. Customers used to buy normal size flat Bread 5 pack ( white & whole meal) $3.50 per pack Suddenly their machine was broken for about a month. Now after the machine restarted they are selling mini flat pack of 6 (only white bread) for the same price of $3:50!!! The quality has also deteriorated miserably! How can a mini flat bread be sold at the same price as the normal sized ones? This is outrageous!
Their best feature is the flat bread (Indian roti) they cook in store and sell at very reasonable price. A plenty Indians live around in the area and this thing is a life saver when they don't want to cook or can't cook for some reason. Just pick coles daal makhani for $3 and 5 flatbreads for $3 and you get full fledged instant meal, you'll need a microwave for daal though.
Everytime I shop here and ask a staff member to check out the back for a product they always tell me no even though they don't work in that area. I ask them to scan the item to see how much stock on hand and they say there's no point as we are out of stock. When I shop at Woolworths they always scan the item and always look out the back. The staff at this store are lazy.
Deli's service should be better, even if you asked how you would like the goods cutted off, you must keep an eye on their job to get what you asked for. Today, after complain about it, who served me just trow the wrongly cutted ham in the bin!. Not happy with this waste of food and with having to be on my toes when do I go shopping over there. Thanks
Interesting layout that is slightly different to other supermarket, and I am still tossing between whether I like this concept better than the others. One thing I do like is the slightly wider isle than others Coles I used to. Staff members are nice and friendly enough that I would rather wait in the line to be served than using self-checkout.
Was there in these tough times was happy with some of the measures put in place to help protect everyone, but when it come to packing my own bags , very disappointed that the staff member did not wait for me to finish before serving the next person. Please educate your staff not to cause them to be in close proximity of my self
The store is pretty good. Very warm and cordial staff, very co-operative staff especially Therese, one of the employees at Coles. Very helpful and she has a wonderful smile. Coles is a good place for grocery shopping and plus the special offers that they keep putting up every now and then keeps me coming back.
A very nice large coles, always very well stocked and has a really nice range. Big car park for the shopping centre, and easy to locate and get to the coles. Lots of trolleys always there too. Nice large bakery section, lots of staff and lots of both manned registers and self service registers are available
I am very disappointed here. The management is not good. They behave badly with me. They are write there no staff abuse not tolerated. When the abuse costumer. Lot of time I saw they abuse disabled and old men and women. I saw this rubbish things I am not shopping here. I never shopping here.
I like this Coles. Easy to get to, plenty of parking, reasonably neat and tidy store. The staff seem friendly. It’s not the newest, shiniest Coles, but it does the job. I love the giveaways too. The knives, kitchenware, etc. More gluten and dairy free options would be good.
The staff called Siri, when I bought the special products and I said how are you? She said nothing, when I paid and she said nothing. When I said thank you, she said nothing. Very "good" customer service!!! Btw, She said hello to the customers in front of and behind me.
Excellent customer service with good smile and greetings both bakery staff and self serve checkout staff...even just bought single cookie from bakery with well managed packing..Better experience than their neighbour big supermarket where I never well greeted.
during evening they always close their self check-out lines and leave only 1 checkout open, long queue all the time. Why on earth would you close the self check outs for when they are there for a reason? Woolworths are just within a few steps away you know?
Coles Hoppers crossing, The peak times can be quite busy not too long of a wait if you're being served staff however self-serve can be quite a lengthy wait, the store is usually quite tidy staff at usually knowledgeable and can assist you in your enquirys.
Must say compared to normal Coles this is impressive. Well laid out, heaps of space. Parking is good and access from the car park to the shop straight forward. Quite impressive how they have developed the site in one of the older shopping centres around.
Convenient location. Who ever is doing the price tickets and stacking the shelves seem to have issues placing things in the right spot. Staff are always standing at the door smoking or right next to parents with pram parking.....including management!!
Deli is always soooooo slow after several visits always the same. Last weekend one guy serving and the other guy doing something other than serving while heaps of customers stand there waiting. Won't be going back. Will go to Woolies next time
Even though I live in Werribee, I tend to do most of my shopping at Coles Hoppers Crossing because the Coles in Werribee is not a pleasant experience and is considerably smaller. Coles Hoppers has a large range and modern/neat looking areas.
Coles you have lost me as a loyal customer just had our weekly shop things have increased that much what are you blaming it on covod the war the floods in Brisbane end of the day the big loser is the loyal customers well sorry no more
At the moment it is the newest supermarket in the area. It's clean, and usually not very busy. Staff are friendly and helpful, and it's open until midnight, which is convenient if you need to pop out and grab something late at night.
The price label shows $6, but I scanned it at the checkout machine shows $10, after I ask the staff, I ask they should be free this one because at the Woolworth has the policy, but they denied, it’s a unhappy shipping experience!
Bakery on site even make cupcakes. All your usual gang all here. Large alleys and super friendly service! And of course wheelchair friendly. However the security outside told me not to take photos. Which world does he live on?
I wanted to thank the lovely self serve girl Mikayla and to all the lovely customers who helped me today at the self-serve checkouts with my assistance dog thank you all so much for helping protect her and me thank you all
Laurence the meat manager is a jet. The only reason i shop there. Poor bloke puts up with crackheads thieving and the formula syndicates abusing him for stopping them from going over the daily limit. Absolute champion.
Friendly, helpful staff at Hoppers Crossing near the station . The store is neat & clean. Fruit & vegetables, bakery & deli are well stocked. The register staff are so nice it makes you want to come back again.
Typical Coles, large store only a handful of staff to assist, there was only one checkout open and there was a bit of a queue it was quicker to use self serve which I hate as every time I use one it plays up.
Never had customer service issue, always a clean store. Stocks all the products I need. A handful of times, there hasn't enough staff on, but they are constantly being told to cut staff, so not their fault.
The best in this place is coles, Woolworth , auspost , tobacco shop and a brilliant fresh produce shop is altogether so you don't need to run around. And before 12pm is very quiet, so pleasant shopping.
Opens nice and early... one beautiful thing about walking in when they open is the delicious smell of fresh baked doughnuts coming from the bakery. Great range of products available from a large store
I really had a bad experience when I went to buy the flat bread from the bakery. The lady was really rude with me and I have made a formal complaint to the Manager Kane. Not a good start of the day.
Fresh and clean looking store but missing one thing all the others have near me which they do not accommodate is fresh sandwiches and wraps fridge such a shame was a bit disappointed in that!
There was not alot of people there and the isles where clear of anything that was being stacked by the staff. All in all a pleasant trip but always room to improve. …
Staff are always friendly and helpful!! The downside is the store is often under stocked, fresh produce is usually gross and sanitizer/ trolley wipes are empty most of the time we go.
A super sized, state of the art supermarket that has been a long time coming, customers now have 'choice' and not that of the long standing woolworths monopoly. Hallelujah Coles!
Not bad to shop here but do something about your trashy trolley's get new ones and keep them stocked up allot of the time customers have to go back outside to get a wonky trolly.
Love Coles Hoppers Crossing - only issue - not enough of the higher trollies available - these are easier for older customers to use. Have taken to getting one from the car park.
I was left standing in self service waiting for a bag (approximately 2mins) while staff member served someone with a receipt in hand. Instead of redirecting to service counter.
Corn flakes on the top shelf and only 2. Im short how did coles think i was going to reach??? Climb up the shelves?? No more Teddy bears. The lady b4 me got the last ones.
I go here and I'm from Werribee, the store is just so much nicer in general and it's not a hassle to go to another grocer next door if they don't have what you're after.
Disgusted with this coles. there was this massive bag of sugar under the shelves and lots of mess everywhere. Teach your staff to clean up, ruined my shopping experience
Bad bad bad will not shop there, one checkout open plenty of people waiting, waited 15mins and was force 2 go thru self check out, nxt time I go 2 Woolies. Not Happy Jan
Always room to improve. Too many staff with thier masks below thier nose (just as bad if not worse than Woolworths) nothing done about customers doing the same thing.
This store needs better sign's up so you can find what you are looking for and better stocked as Woolworths is cheaper than this store and they are close buy …
Make sure to check use by date on products before purchase, as many items in this store are past used by date. Better quality and prices can be found elsewhere.
Bare shelves and no one on checkout. I'm not using self checkout unless I get a discount for having to pack my own stuff. Your machines don't pay tax either!
Good range of products, clean and organized. I've been using their services for a long time and didn't notice any issues. The staff are helpful and kind.
Good, large size Coles with a half decent deli. Would be good though if the shelves had more stock though, as they seem to be mauled every time we go.
Great shop with wide open space. Lots of varieties. Easy park as well. The best thing about it is in same complex of woolies and other small shops
Need to check your produce more often. Everytime we go there we seem to get rotten veges. Doesn't happen at other Coles supermarkets we attend.
Good clean supermarket, busy on a misrrable day in Melbourne. Deli seems to run out of cooked chickens regularly Large range of stock on hand.
All the shelves are different to other Coles have chest Freezers ,not high vertical Freezers ,takes a bit to get used to,so rarely shop here.
Coles, pharmacy, Woolworths , 2 dollars shop, Aus Post, veg and nonveg market and many store at one place. Close to Hoppers crossing station.
Always nice and clean with wide isles and not many people parked in them having a chat. Always go here. Hate the one that is closer to me
It gave me the impression that had lack of staff. Trolies every where, troley area was dirty with paper at the very main entrance
It's a good Coles store, not too big and not too small, the only downside is at night when they only keep the express lanes open.
Brilliant store ... wide aisles and incredibly clean. Excellent variety. The best Cole's I've been in and a credit to its staff.
One of the best supermarkets I've been to. Next to Woolworth so there's good competition. Deli is fantastic and so are the staff
Good supermarket. Reasonable sized isles. Well stocked shelves. Good service. Reasonably good location. Decent sized car parkn
Even when Ive moved to Tarneit, i still prefer shopping here. Right next to Train station and has alot of parking available..
Well stocked shelves and not too busy in the store today so it was quite pleasant leisurely cruising up and down the aisles.
Don't shop here unless you want to stand in line at checkout for 15 minutes. 15 people in queue only 2 registers open.
The place is clean just had a fresh cream apple turnover wonderful taste great and full of cream keep up the good work
I usually go in after my walk in the morning as Woolworths doesn't have the roller door up yet. Good for in and out
Love shopping at coles hoppers crossing its easy convienant with woolies and post office and other speciality shops
Bought some beer and hung around outside waiting for my partner to come out with the milk. All went very smoothly.
It's my go to Coles. clean and tidy. Update: Can get busy during evenings. looks like the store needs more sfaff.
Big store and lots of choices. Ample parking, but can get crazy on weekends. Liquorland is right next to Coles.
Wow - what a fantastic new looking store. Fresh produce and great fit out. Good to see a full bakery on site.
I would like to say well done to all the staff you are doing a fantastic job in this most stressful time.
Great coles, big range. Can run between woolies and coles as they are only a couple of shops apart.
Typical good range of products. Like this place because Woolworths + greengrocer also adjacent!
Could improve on customer service. Staff stocking shelves have no care about social distancing
Very large store with lots of variety. Easy to navigate, friendly staff and lots of smiles.
Love the layout and bakery is good. Plenty of room to move about and car park is near
Simple but effective structure . Hold two majors plus speciality shops. Ample parking
Good store with quality fresh vegetables, great bakery and a good range of products.
Costs of common day products are increasing by the day. Not so well stocked either.
Seems to be a quiet place compared to other locations, but we’ll stocked and clean
Check out operators need to be retrained with customer service as there is none .
Very nice clean store ,able to get what you want most of the time, friendly staff
as a former aldi employee, the scan rate is abysmal (still the guy was nice).
Nice shop. They have a lot of different products that other shops don't have.
Fantastic store. The staff is lovely and place is clean. Great environment.
Very happy and always good nothing change here, I still ❤ …
Very good , Hillal should be moved to coles hugan road Tarnet west,
Staff were polite and efficient. Store was organised and clean .
Always has what we need and staff arw friendly. Great location
Good supermarket with range of products and services
They have halal meat so I can cook for my neighbours
Clean easy access, but extremely rude staff.
Clean and airy with great customer service.
It's a comfortable store to navigate
Beautiful fresh fruit and veges..
