Friday 6 June 2022 Time around 3:30 pm Why? REFUSAL TO HONOR PRICE THAT WAS GIVEN BY A STAFF MEMBER AFTER CHECKING IT. Facts Golden Circle 2 L Long Life Juice Varieties were on special $3.50. I asked a staff member to check the price of the Golden Circle Pineapple. They went out the back and returned with a scanner. They scanned the Pineapple Juice and then scanned a Ticket. They checked their work by scanning the ticket again and rescanned the Pineapple Juice to check the price. They then stated The Pineapple Juice was $3.50. "Thank you. I asked you to check as sometimes there are exceptions to Specials."The staff member replied. "All the Golden Circle 2 L Long Life Juice Varieties are on special. They are $3.50." The Pineapple Juice scanned at $4.80 - a difference of $1.30. I asked for a price check specifying which staff member I spoke to to for them to check the price again. The Service Register Manager (claimed she she was the Acting Store Manager REFUSED to believe the Staff Member and told me that The Staff member had Misspoken. That is a COLES problem. I said Goodbye and left and they further REFUSED to calll the staff member to check what they said. The Store manager was not available to discuss this. And that is why Coles St Kilda gets a 1 STAR Rating for IGNORING what the Coles Staff said what the price was .
Great selection of groceries but at the checkout thats something that really needs fixing. Self service checkouts. Bags are so small only fit 4 iteams tops in bag and are placed way behind the checkout and no space. Its STUPIDITY SET UP. But with only 1 yes i said 1 only staffed checkout open and never seen the the others open. Have to ask. WHAT DOES CUSTOMER SERVICE MEAN. When i was store manager with G.J. Coles. New world Supermarket . Where everything was priced marked top right cr of the item. Well think back that was true customer service where stuff cared and enjoyed working and all stuff were checkout chic trained and also know where all products are. Pal Dog Food. Isle 2 bottom self 3/4s of the way down the isle. Plus all stuff took the customer to the product. Now at coles if u need to ask where something is. The stuff say not my departure need to ask someone else And they walk away. Took me 20mins day just trying to find Teetree oil. And 4stuff members tying find. Thats not bad cos normally the staff are to busy chatting to each other. If any one cuts in and asks for some help to find something. The look and fold arms and get are not happy The look from there eye are there saying. "I will kill you". This is every Cole. Elsternwick and Balaklava stores are lots worst
Hmmm. The lovely staff are still here at the new gorgeous look Coles, but there are some negatives. Gone is the deli which means buying prawns to sliced meats is now a pre packaged (and in more plastic) moment. Fish options have shrunk and the price for fresh salmon has increased (because you can’t buy it by the piece... because there’s no deli). And the initial glamorous additions aren’t traveling as well a few weeks in: the pineapple peeler is ok but not when all the ready to be peeled pineapples are green; the noisette branded almond croissants and Portuguese tarts are soggy; the range of daggy packet sweet biscuits has been decimated in favour of the gourmet offerings in the glamour party food section. Maybe this version of the new Coles is a seasonal party version too and when school goes back, a bit of core food options may again take up floor space. It’s nice to embrace change but the team would do well to monitor things carefully. It’s a blunt statement but our share household of formerly local Coles shoppers has tested the new Coles, enjoyed the buzz but have gone back to tired old (but hugely functional) Woolworths.
Extreme disappointment these days with the managers they have now. The managers on pay counter duty at 3-3.30 pm yesterday (next to the fresh orange juice/ coffee area) were extremely rude yesterday, literally making fun of the words spoken by me and behaving very sarcastically. Asked a team member who this lady is, she said they are managers. Since I had loads of grocery carried already, I didn’t want to talk to the same person who’d just behaved so rudely with me. My daughter also almost fell down, a part of the ground inside the shop being wet without a warning sign. Some of the junior staff is very pleasant, but a bunch of Asian managers ( I say Asian as I don’t remember their actual names but remember their faces as they often behave very rudely) really need to brush up their professional attitude. What was even disturbing, the manager who dealt with me spoke very rudely to another team member in a very belittling manner, the same feeling she had given to me, not at all professional ppl at Coles. I’d rather just go to Woolworths Acland Street next time. :(
Was just strolling the usually fantastic aisle 3 of this Coles chain, and I was presented with a rude young woman with brown hair. I asked her about the historical value of this store, she was unable to provide me a satisfactory response, with a rude manner and impatient tone, this was disgusting. I am a regular shopper at this chain and I have never experienced such rude and unjust attitude from a team member in my life. I praise this store to my closest friends and DND club members however I will be retracting statements made about this store from this horrific experience, I recall asking for the rude lady's name and it was Tory. I will remember this day until I die, with cancer or tuberculosis the name Tory will be engraved in my hate list, my naughty list and will go down as one of the most rude yet significant encounters I have ever faced in my pathetic life.
garbage no effective onsite. tap and go not working. No PA announcement. Over 80 inline...no announcement cash only no cashback line. Just trying to keep sales . The produce at this store when deliverwd...commonly goes off in three days...dodgy veggies especially zucchinis and onions. Brighton and Stkilda seem especially to send rotting... not fresh veggies. I have even had chicken mince my cats avoided. I'll stick to balaclava and elsternwick after todays pathetic stkilda manager tried to line everyone up while people went to a cash machine...and not lose a sale...At least Balaclava and Elsternwick seem to have better managers and much fresher goods especially Elsternwick where the fruit and veg manager seems first rate. I should know I ran one while in highschool.
Staff are often unpleasant & I asked a question on their hours & it turns out they got it incorrect as I found out during public holidays-lucky I didn't have far to come or what a nightmare!! Very little selection so major hassle having to shop at other supermarkets for my weekly groceries(to get all my needs). Even had price issues where they've tried to change me the full price & not the sale on the tag.. Only got there when I have to get a few items out of my major shopping requirements if I'm running short of time/anything.Also,they shut their self-service check-outs 1 hour before closing-talk about a major hassle when I find it more comfortable 7 quicker/easier shopping!!
It's a reasonable Coles but they charge an extra percentage on most products because it's a 'Coles Local' concept store. Worst of all, they don't let the customers know about this or have any signage explaining this. I would understand if the store was located in a ritzy area like Elizabeth Bay in Sydney, but it's not. In fact St Kilda is known for being filled with homeless people and people living it tough with mental illnesses or disabilities. Then there is the Coles, charging people extra because they spent too much on making the store fancy for no reason... Does that seem like an honourable way to conduct business? What happened to customer service, hmm?
Such a huge improvement over the old Coles! It's the same size but feels so much bigger with the new layout. Quality of produce is improved and there are lots of nice touches and new products including more of a focus on vegetarian and gluten free foods. Plus there's a wider range of ready-to-eat meals, which will be a bonus for tourists and backpackers. Also, it feels like there are more staff working there, more tills are open, and the new and improved staff are a lot friendlier (maybe they're happy being in the new store). And best of all, there are no more ridiculously high shelves that people my height can't reach!
Seriously, Coles, you had to put these automated check outs in St Kilda, this has become the most impersonal store to visit. Avoid at all costs, Coles St Kilda, is supplying us with terrible shopping experience, seriously do you need more profit, by shovelling this choice down our throat. Overseas are removing automated check outs, time for Australia to follow suit. BTW Staff at this store are amazing, corporate greed is pushing this automation. I'm pretty sure that automatic checkouts, increase slippage?
I have shopped at Coles in St Kilda for many years and I have always found the staff friendly and helpful however I do not understand how Coles can employ a person to work at the front check out who refuses to wear a mask. We are in the midst of a pandemic with case numbers now growing daily. This same person I saw smoking on the street on her way to work one morning. This person should not be working on the check out without wearing a mask. She puts customers at risk as well as her co workers.
We come in here every week for our food shop and always end up coming away with what we need but it has a much smaller selection compared to Woolworth's down the road. It also frustrates me so much that you feel like you're being watched constantly at the self check outs. I completely understand that they need to be careful but that's what bag checks are for. I'd you're suspicious check the backs afterwards don't hawk over people while they're actually doing their shopping and checking out.
Smaller Coles but range is OK. Seems setup more for younger singles/?locals on foot than a family type shopping trip. • Free parking is a miserly 1hr then $$*. OK for a quick, selective shop if you’re driving by. • Better if you know the shelves layout. • Checkout can be busy ie slow. Allow time. • Separate bottle shop in centre has good range/cost. * Woolies Toorak free parking is 1.5h, Coles Brighton is 2.0hr, full size stores with with undercover car parking.
It's just way too small. Not enough range. South Melbourne and Brighton Coles are far superior. Those stores also don't have trolleys with coin slots while St Kilda does, what are they saying about St Kilda residents with this treatment? Edit: They're making changes to improve the supermarket and it shows. However the next step is 2 hour parking. Got charged $8 because my shopping took 3 minutes too long. South Melbourne Coles is still superior.
I was frightened in Coles this morning too many people, As I was trying to pay at the Register a young man came up behind the young woman at the register to take over I assume. I thought that was a bit close. I tried to pay with my $20. On my Flybuys which didn't work for some reason. Was told by the young Woman you don't have any money in your Flybuys. The Young Man Laughed. I paid and left but I'm still quite anxious from the experience.
Fresh food, innovative format, new range. This Coles format has gathered a lot of wisdom of many people. Pineapple peeling machine, machi freezer, live herbs, fresh pet treat !! And surprisingly the first BBQ Chicken Bun that I’ve ever seen, sounds a bit funny as in 叉鸡包? Great effort of product selecting and really appreciate the new range of Asian food and snacks. Hope to get more, as Asian snacks really are the best!!!!
Much smaller than the likes of Burwood and Chadstone, the St Kilda Coles is well located in the centre of St Kilda! Providing free parking for 1.5 hours if you shop $30 or more is good help. Being smaller, they are limited only to popular ranges. However, the prices are competitive and same as other Coles stores. Having Coles and Woolworths around help to keep the local traders honest with their prices. This is a good thing for me.
I do have to say this Coles is the best for your favourite items that alot of the Coles & woolies near by don't stock.. Such as the 'Lindt strawberry n cream balls', & the 'Charlie's raspberry melting moments' n so forth.!! It's well laid out, well stocked & open till decent hours.! Can't really fault them, best shopping centre in the surrounding & immediate area for sure.! Keep up the great work Coles St Kilda.!!
The newley refurbished Coles local in St Kilda is a much more improved than previously. It's det out very nice so you can wander through the Isles feeling like you're not cramped. It has a fresh produce section, meat section, frozen section and all the essentials you would ever want. Also has a coffee machine and a pineapple peeler / juicer. Eexcellent service, polite stsff. Has the quick self checkouts.
No clear instructions when slicing your own bread. Staff were very rude when I went to pay because I had not brought the rapper which you have to remove to slice the bread. Waited in line only to be told “how are we supposed to know how much the bread is”. Seriously there is one type and it’s $5.50... I’ve been here twice and I know that. If you’re going to offer these services train your staff better.
liane might be the worst human I have ever met. She came up to my service dog and I and kept repeating, no dogs allowed, no dogs allowed, when I tried to explain to her that Bentley is my service dog, she started acting hysterical saying I’m not wanting to fight, I’m just doing my job! I would understand if it was her job to bark commands at customers, but I don’t think that is her job, to be honest
Delicatessen food in the middle aisle that (rarely) you can find in others Coles stores. Laurent deliverers bread and dessert (and there is a cut bread machine to cut your fresh bread… all by yourself!! What an experience. Truffle Spanish chips and Jamón Spanish chips Flamenkas. Totally recommend even if there is $6 bag. Fresh pasta in bulk and a great variety of cheeses. I really love to buy here.
Pitchrat you say you are the supervision of this store. You are rude and arrogant as well as the rest of this workers. And if you think people with e cards or gift cards are people that are scammers think again. Some gift cards are bought from crisis organization. Thanks for making me feel like a lowlife. People don't shop here unless you want to be judged.
⭐ Gradually got worse replaced basic line items with over price packaged brands ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was great a place to shop to shop for you groceries. Had everything at good prices. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Then Coles re branded to Coles Local. It was so good for a week. ⭐⭐ I've now realised the staples are missing and I really miss a deli and onsite bakery. Missing a lot of stock items.
Would give 4+ stars if they had complete rage of some products like Gippsland yoghurt. They don't have big tubs of honeycomb and toffee. They don't have pasties and no protein milk Oak. Apart from that get everything I want. Staff 80% are good but rest need better attitude and some education about Thier jobs and better friendly service. But in whole I happy
Strange layout, hard to find anything. Lots of money spent to make the place look fancy and stocks a lot of “boutique-y” looking items. I find this frustrating though because I can never find any normal/basic items. Baking section is also very limited. Everything seems way over priced too. Staff are always nice and helpful though and the place is clean.
Adequate at best! Actually there used to be a better and smaller COLES NEW WORLD variety store ( where the Acland Court Pharmacy is now!!) before it some 30 years ago, while smaller and they never sold food stuffs they had an infinitive better selection than there current guys ever will. So yay for that former franchise and nay for the current guys etc.
Not a bad bit of shopping to be had here, only thing I'd say is there needs to be more items on sale with a lot more biodegradable items because times are a changing... and there are many sustainable products out there that Coles could be supporting. if there were cheaper items with less wasteful products I'd definitely spend more money here.
This new store is great. There was plenty of vegetarian options as promised. There is even a scoop and weigh dog treat station. Our dog gives that a big woof. He really loved the treats we bought him. I liked to see that they sold local cakes and chocolate and also the mochi station was a nice surprise. And so was the coffee station!
The idea had potential but food knowledge is still missing... Where is the management? The staff doesn't have a clue, they are so young and without any customer service idea (they touched my bread to price it , disgusting)... Managers, lift up your game or move on. Amazing gnocchi and bread! Fruit is still really average! …
Website said open at 7, not open till 8 I've was told. For a the leading supermarket this shouldn't happen it's not hard to keep open hours up-to-date on your website Google ect. Imagine when real competition comes your way you won't get a customer coming back when there's so much more on offer at the same or better prices.
Friendly and helpful staff. Great product range. Carpark at ground level to the left side of the store if you come from Acland Street, and also on the first level when accessing from Barkly Street. Public toilets on first level, to the left, just before going into the carpark. No.96 Tram terminus at Barkly Street.
A huge improvement !! The new look Coles is so much better than the old styled one, a lot fresher modern look and feel. Great selections of produce and shelf items have a coffee a fresh OJ and peal a pineapple while you shop instore. Pet food as you've never seen it before abundance of choice . …
The layout is unique but you get used to it fast. They have some unique features like the fresh pasta area and the dog treat dispensers. I always like a supermarket with a deli, but the store is smaller so I understand why they can’t have one. Staff are friendly and free parking above is a good thing.
The old Coles wasn't good but this new one was a big disappointment. I can't believe you removed the deli! And now you use extra space for fresh flowers that should be in gardens and parks!! From now on our shopping will be done in Wollies or Coles South Melbourne which is a million times better.
Excellent local Coles store and for us it's very conveniently located in Acland Court. While it's not a big Coles outlet, surprisingly for its size it carries a good range of products. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Great customer service. There's also plenty of parking.
A recently refurbished Coles store in the heart of St Kilda! With a more streamlined configuration (the aisles now run in your line of sight from the entrance) and a market like fresh fruit and vegetable section with ready made meals at your fingertips, it's a good supermarket for its size.
Kinda trendy, weird Coles concept store. Has loads of pre-made meals and stuff, and loads of chilled drinks but a very small produce department, and doesn't have much variety of your regular household items. Seems very, very backpacker-centric, which I guess makes sense being in St Kilda.
Staff are so rude. I was accused of shoplifting & asked to empty my handbag. When I asked to do it somewhere more private I was refused, & instead made to comply with the demand to do so in public. Lady did not like seeing me empty my tampons & condoms, & other rather personal items
Excellent produce. Top-notch quality. I always come here for my grocery shopping, like when I must buy an avocado or such. However, I think it is imperative that they supply the doughnuts like they do in bigger stores. I love cinnamon! Still five stars though :)
Just got stung $8 for being 2min over the 1hour shopping. Happy to pay for the 'excess' time but not happy to pay $8 for a weekly shop. Not worth the stress of avoiding the time penalty. They need to work out a better arrangement with the centre parking.
Funky local smaller sized Supermarket. Especially Good after the re-furbishment as the options to make your own fresh juices is a good upgrade. Macaroons & speciality Breads are just some if the new improvements on offer in their range. …
Great staff, limited stock in supermarkets in this area it's really frustrating. I don't want to live in an outer suburb to get decent range at a local supermarket. Otherwise what's the point of them? I'm trying farmers markets now too...
Spending 20,000 dollars could net you 10 off your next shop, that's why you too should be a flybuys member. The exclusive flybuys club card is taken at this store, and you can earn these points simply by buying a watermelon.
Usually quite friendly staff, someone to hand you a basket and always adequate registers open. Selection is a bit smaller but will suffice for smaller shops and quick pick ups. Located centrally with good garage parking.
Started delivering to this store semi regularly, however it became a regular thing in about 2018 or 19. Looked about 20 years old and in desperate need of a reno until the renovation and transfer to Coles Local in 2019
This Coles store has it all. I love all the bargains I seem to get whenever I visit. A huge array of gourmet foods, fresh fruit and veggies. A bright and atmospheric store go on in and grab yourself a few markdowns.
What have they done?!? No deli... can’t buy a single chicken breast No coriander... but 40 packs of basil Whoever is running this Coles has absolutely no idea what they are doing. Have moved to Woolies!! What a joke
A bit smaller than other stores, and less range than a bigger Coles, but they make up for it with a great range of specialty products. Always finding something new to try. No deli. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Great as it's small and easy to get around but still has everything. Has good value Cole's own brand things, but also is a foodie delight with gourmet. Staff are friendly. Love the Cole's Local bags you can get.
Shelves are always empty in every section of a weekday evening. Very poor stock replenishment for peak times of day. Never happened before it became a Coles Local and has been consistently poor ever since.
Great lay-out, clean and fresh appearance with stock generally easy to find. Doesn't have a deli section which is a bit frustrating. Good representation of local food and what the folks at St Kilda enjoy.
Vic. What a bloody legend! I've worked hospitality for nearly 10 years so know when I get good service. Very helpful and eager to help me. Your staff should learn from his eagerness to assist others
Easy in and out shop. The free hour car park is so convenient when you only need to grab a few things on the way yo the beach. The coffee machine is a bonus and a great selection of pastries too
Great place to shop and they have a wonderful selection of vegetarian and vegan products. Would love to see some sections dedicated to diabetics though both for vegetarians and non-vegetarians
Tourist passing through the area and stopped in here. Plenty of parking available. Store layout clean and organised. Heaps of sale items available and a great range. Got everything I needed.
Large Coles slightly hidden from view in what looks like a derelict arcade in st Kilda. Has everything you need! Except pie crusts. That's what I went there for but it had nothing. I wept.
I like this Coles, it's a little different to most, but you can still get everything you need. Unique selection of meats and ready to eat. Fresh vegetables however are a little limited.
Nice selection great layout but a little pricey but very upmarket but was lacking a few items I like although you can buy really nice local st.kilda Coles bags which are pretty cool
Great place, service not so great when returning goods, seem to take forever and get rude with you. It's not my fault they can't label their goods properly, and I don't eat JAM!!!
Terrible layout; the place is a maze! Only saving grace is knowing where the exits lead, ie: Barkley or Acland St. Was well stocked & staffed on the positive, but that's about it.
The worse store in whole Victoria!!! period. Coles group should shut this store down and sack the all the people work here and hire all new staff and train them properly first.
You could find anything there and there's a major advantage: it's not woolworths. Also, if you're feeling fancy there's a lot of cool smaller shops nearby with great products.
I wouldn't like to do a huge shop here. Leave that for Balaclava Cole's. But I was able to get my whole ingredients for my "apricot chicken! This was my goal that day …
New design, but too crowded, wasn't able to find stuff and prices are way too high. Maybe Coles decided to make more money before xmas. Don't bother if you don't have to.
Very small store missing most useful items. Call ahead if you want to ensure what you’re looking for is actually there and from the brand you wanted it to be from.
It’s like a lucky dip this place. How many days has the bread been sitting out for, is the bread still frozen, are the vegetables rotten on the inside.
If your only need to do at little shop this is fine but I don't recommend if needing to do a big shop . They as so have a big range of gourmet items.
Nice and neat store. Fair pricing and wide variety of general and special selection. Thanks to the worker who helped me get the fresh orange juice!
Excellent store with a terrific range despite its size, it's just a shame it is a bit seedy / poorly lit around the Barkly Street entrance.
A ll of single living, artisean, Type foods, seems to be quality heat annd eats. Seems to be aimed at the professional business person/s.
I'm not a fan of these overpriced, no competition supermarkets! Go to Aldi, good products HEAPS CHEAPER. Shop there first before Coles!!
Coles Local served more quality products than common Coles. We can order fresh orange juice here and they have a bread cutter too.
good store, some upmarket items added like Laurent patisserie and breads, and they gave me a free coffee which tasted great.
It's smaller than most but has unique products not found in other supermarkets such as meatsmith sausages which are superb.
They carry loads of cool things like the Monday brand hair products, though they are becoming easier to come by these days
Too much super fancy stuff at the expense of much more affordable options that are routinely available at other stores
Good location whether you're using the tram, a bike or driving. Spending $15+ instore validates the undercover parking
They need better cat food options like the broth or of a few better choices and what they have that you can never get
Handy Coles to St Kilda local but please remember it doesn't have a deli. Good fresh vegetables and all your staples
Liked it better before the renovations. They got rid of the bakery and the deli, and made it more “self-serve posh”.
Open till late. Great Selection. Buy my weekly groceries here all the time - Ricky Wadhwa Real Estate Agent St Kilda
Coles supermarket is ausome. Customer service is Out standing.Myself and my partner wish them all A Happy Easter.
All renovated and new layout is cool for those not shopping for a family with prepared meals, etc well displayed.
New look!! Yeah it works! Enjoy dropping in there from time to time. Service is good. Not real welcoming though.
Store is clean and staff are friendly and food specials are regular on offer. Shelves are usually stocked well.
Convenient store for local but outside coles was unpleasant environment and not to mention the homeless.
Shelves Half empty, poor quality fresh produce that seemed like it had been there a month and high prices
I'm a regular here but am often disappointed with several items either low..or completely out of stock.
Always has good deals on. The staff is friendly and helpful. Make sure to bring your own bags to save!
Everything is great for a little shop but you need to go to woolworths in st kilda for more variety .
Coles has everything we need to eat or drink, fresh produce at a reasonable value. Easy access
Great selection, different to my normal Coles. Fresh preprepared ready made dinners available.
Convenient location, and large variety of products that aren't found in the burbs …
Well organised store with clearly labelled isles. Prices were also very reasonable.
It s now open till 22 only, please update your hour so public is not confused, tha
Enjoyed my visit today, a compact store, but has everything needed!
So many cool things to buy here, a very enjoyable experience.
It's a supermarket, and you can get what you're looking for.
