I brought my bike in for basic maintenance. The mechanic that did the inspection was very condescending and made several unnecessary comments. I'd rather not think about what motivated him to make that judgement. He also tried to upsell me components that didn't need replacement. I know because I replaced them in this very same shop just a few weeks before. Anyway, a different mechanic performed the work and he was very nice when he handed me the bike back. He did a good job. A minor thing was that the bar tape came undone in one side just after a few hours but nothing that required me to bring the bike back. I have mixed feelings about the shop now because I like what the store does for the cycling community and the services they provide. My experiences are mostly positive but I'm having second thoughts about coming back in the future. At Conte's you pay a price above other stores in the city because you expect above average service and I'm not sure I'm getting it anymore. I was also considering booking a bike fit but that interaction put me off.

The staff are nice and so is the store. The issue is that not all staff are knowledgeable about bikes so unless you know everything you may have to come back multiple times to resolve 1 issue. Case in point, I brought in my bicycle, said my front tire has issues as it keeps getting flats; employee said it could be the tire, the tube, the tape, or the rim, but gave no real answer—found out later that the rim was dented. I bought a new rim at Conte's, I didn't notice they didn't provide me with a quick release lever—when I called and said I cannot mount it, they had me bring my entire bike and new rim to find out that they just never provided me with the entire rim (a lot of work to bring back and forth bicycle that cannot ride because employee error).

This review is on Sean’s great customer service. I live nearby and called ahead because I hadn’t used my bike for awhile and wanted to have a professional look at it. They encouraged me to come in without an appointment and Sean explained a few gear techniques to me before taking my bike to the back to check on it. He made a quick adjustment and otherwise gave it the thumbs up to ride. As a woman that goes on long rides, I like to have the extra confidence that my bike is in good shape. I appreciate the no-hassle customer service and expertise that Sean provided. He also gave me a quick review of bike racks for my car. Thanks Sean and the Conte team!

I had been looking for an upgrade to my old dual suspension mountain bike and spent a lot of time researching options. Conte's had the best local selection to choose from. The staff was helpful and very friendly. Amrit is extremely knowledgeable and spent a lot of time helping me choose the right bike. I never felt pressured. They even offered to bring bikes in from out of state without any obligation. I love the new bike and thank everyone at Conte's for their help. They continue to provide an excellent service with quick responses to questions and service with fast turn-around. I have referred anyone I know looking for a bike to speak with Amrit.

Best piece of advice my cycling “mentor” gave me was to find a bike shop w/ good staff that treats you (and your bike) like family. Conte’s Navy Yard is that place! Wide selection of bikes, apparel and accessories. Everyone from Amrit, Raven, to the bike tech team and bike fitting staff (I’ve interacted/worked with each at this point…) are friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. As attentive to serious riders as they are to the aspiring cyclists who asks a lot of questions. Free coffee, and coordinate group rides (different levels) which easier to grow comfortable in the cycling ‘community”. Awesome all around.

Three hours before my flight, I was breaking down my bike to ship it and realized I was missing a few tools. I biked over to Conte’s to see if they could assist, not realizing that bike breakdowns and packing were a service they offered! The entire Conte’s Bike Shop Team were so helpful in helping me break down and pack my bike within such a short timeframe. I cannot emphasize enough the level of care and customer service this local bike shop offers. No frills, no fluff, they’re here to make sure you and your bike are safe. Conte’s Navy Yard is my go-to bike shop in the city!

Brian did a really amazing job fixing up my mountain bike for the upcoming season. I've been to so many bike shops over the years and I don't think I've received a bike back in such good condition and so clean before. Plus great communication and he found several other things that really did need fixing. TBH I'm always a little suspect about going to a chain store, but there is no denying that this was top level mechanic service. Will definitely bring all my bikes here for service in the future.

I was very impressed with my bike fitter Elisabeth. She is very professional, knowledgeable and has a client-centric approach. So, not only do I have a more comfortable ride but also about a 10% boost in cruising speed, along with more power for climbing hills. I was probably not an easy person to fit as I have long arms, short torso, and long legs with a thigh-calf ratio that is different from most. I recommend her services very highly.

Wanted to shout out the customer service from Sam who worked with me two days in a row while getting a new road bike. He spent so much time explaining the different models and attributes, was patient, and was knowledgeable about all of my questions. Best part was is that he shared in the joy that is #newbikeday! 10/10 recommend going the contes to check out new bikes!

My go to for bike repairs! Living in SE across the river, having access to shop makes my commute a little more easier. I appreciate the team here for their service, work ethic and honesty for repairs needed. They’re a little pricey but for the most part, I never have issues besides a busted tire because I ride my bike like a 13yr old boy sometimes lol!

Over the past few weeks, I have been at Contes multiple times and have the best experience each time. I’ve been able to get a fantastic new bike as well as all of the gear and accessories I could possibly need. Every sales person has been wonderful and exceptionally helpful and friendly. I cannot say enough good things about this location.

The staff at Conte's are the best in the business! Have dealt with store managers, fitters, mechanics and floor sales folks. The customer service is always on point and they make every effort to to make the experience enjoyable. I'd name names but there are too many and I'd be upset to miss one!

I had a great experience at Conte's Bike Shop in Lexington. I went in to get a bike fit and Matthew did a great job guiding me through the process. He was very professional and provided wonderful service. The shop itself was very nice looking inside and extremely clean. I highly recommend it!

Fast and amazing service. They keep you in the loop with your bike, ask questions, and inform you of any service/price changes before hand so that you can accept or decline the offer. First time there and I'm already in love. Will definitely use them for all my bike needs in the future!

Had a bike fitting with Andrew for my road bike. I'm so glad I did. Andrew was extremely helpful. His experience is readily apparent...and he was so helpful, friendly and most important...I trusted him implicitly. I highly recommend Conte's, and in particular Andrew.
