We had a fantastic breakfast at Counting House Bar & Grill. The kids loved their waffles and bacon and egg dishes. I enjoyed a delicious cappuccino and a spectacular egg and bacon dish. Arbel and his staff were amazing hosts and provided us with excellent service. The food and atmosphere were wonderful. The location was also great. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great breakfast or a steak lunch or dinner. They have amazing steaks that they specialize in.

Fantastic atmosphere for kids, and they were provided with crayons and colouring pages which was very kind of the amazing staff, there was a lady there that was very warm and kind and provided an absolutely amazing service.

After starting to lose hope in the service of Mornington restaurants we discovered the Counting House Bar & Grill. A beautiful seaside set up, we sat outside on their decking tables and enjoyed both beautiful service and food. The entree we had kingfish carpaccio (eaten before a photo opportunity!) which was beautiful and fresh. For main, I had the pumpkin gnocchi, which was really tasty with beautiful creamy feta. My husband went for the big 700g T Bone. It was massive! He likes it on the rare side, so when asking for medium rare, the waiter did advise that the section near the bone would be rare but he likes it that way, so don't be put off by the photo! My 7yr old had fish and chips, which were crispy, with large hand cut chips. They had a great selection of wine, the service was spot on and attentive. Well done!

Outstanding in every aspect! Every dish was delicious including, of course, the steaks. The service here is second to none, friendly, helpful and never left waiting. Plus, the restaurant itself is beautiful and feels very high-end despite the dinner being rather good value for money. I’ve made it a regular occurrence coming here and will continue to do so.

Have to say, this is one of the best meals I have had! Every mouth full you could hear someone saying "aww" and "mmmm". Every bit of food was eaten because it felt like it would be a crime to leave anything go to waste! The staff are extremely nice and welcoming. Kevin (one of the owners) made the experience even more for us. He was so nice, funny and just a great guy. The place itself is so unique too. The old historic house is such an awesome place to have a restaurant. If you love a steak, this is definitely the place for you! The croquettes and zucchini flower tempura with mushroom truffle the barramundi was so fresh too. Pretty much everything was amazing! A must place to go!

Pretty disappointed. To pay so much for a steak meal, and at $70 each you would expect more than a little salad with the steak. The steak tasted like any other, nice but nothing special, and then to be charged for the chips, and a Sunday surcharge as well! So $185 for 2 small steaks, a small bowl of chips and one glass of wine, hmmm I would expect to at least have a nice view, or at least something that was filling! 2 small ladies not even close to full after the meals.

We dined here for Mothers Day, booked via TheFork and were greatful to reserve a table. Albeit later in the afternoon, it suited us nicely. The staff upon entry was friendly and prompt to seat us, found the booking no issues. They have a smaller and larger dining hall, plenty of natural sunlight flowing in and comfortably spaced tables. The main attraction on the menu are their variety of steak options, but they also offer pasta and other western dishes during normal trade. We enjoyed our visit!

The Counting House restaurant offers delicious food, but the prices are on the higher side. Despite the flavorful dishes, the portion sizes are disappointingly small, leaving customers feeling unsatisfied. If you're willing to overlook the hefty bill, the taste is worth the splurge, but be prepared for modest servings.

Amazing service from the moment we walked in the door, nothing was too big a request and their authenticity showed by the fact they altered their communication with everyone in our group which consisted of kids and elderly. They didn't ignore them, and politely answered everything. The food was great too, we plan on returning here (without the large group) for a more intimate lunch or dinner. It also has a really nice outdoor area too, which would be fantastic on a warm afternoon.

Popped in late a couple of weeks ago for dessert after dining elsewhere. Kevin was so welcoming that we booked for Christmas Eve. We were not disappointed, the food was delicious, steaks, ribs and fish. We had generous cocktails in the wine bar before being seated. Service was fast and friendly. Stay for the desserts! Lovely atmosphere, you can order from the counter or via qr code if you sit outside. We had the fish of the day that was a very nicely prepared crispy skin salmon with asparagus and potatoes salad and a kids burger, and good beers and non alcoholic cocktail selection. We will be back!

Went here with my partner for a celebration dinner, we both chose the dry aged porterhouse steak and I could not be happier with the food. The service was attentive but not over zealous , just seemed to be there when we needed them. A beautiful old building that has a lovely ambience with outdoor dinning available as well. For a special occasion dinner I could not recommend more highly, will be going back.

High end restaurant with exceptional service. Definitely worth the price. The rare steak was superb with the pepper gravy and the gnocci was second to none. The barramundi too was cooked perfectly. The meatballs were really good and had a tasteful kick to it. Can't make a burger better than a burger, but the patty was really good.

Had a wonderful time at The Counting House. Food was inventive, fresh and tasty. Solid wine list and a decent selection of beers. Service was outstanding from start to finish, even the chef came out as we were leaving and said thanks and asked how it all was! I got a real sense of caring about what they're putting out, cannot fault it, certainly one of the best in Mornington.

When I visited Melbourne, I found this restaurant by accident. The service was outstanding and the best steak I ever had in a long time. I recommend to anyone looking for a good steaks. Also, they are opening for breakfast with great coffee from Allpress. Looking forward to going there again.

Possibly the best steak I’ve ever had. I cook steak weekly at home and I’ve never been able to buy meat as good as this or cook it as perfect as this. Definitely not cheap - $60-80+ for steaks and $15 for a pint…which is okay I guess as it is top notch. What I do have a problem with is a 10% ‘weekend surcharge’. Come on guys. Wish I had seen this before tipping.

Absolutely delightful service - every one of the staff we encountered stopped for a chat and a laugh, and made great recommendations. You could tell they really care about the cafe and its guests. Really nice atmosphere, cool old building. Food and coffee was really great too.

Me and my partner dropped in here for dinner on a rainy Thursday evening. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere was calm and relaxing and the food was amazing. Will definitely be dining here again next time we are on the peninsula.

We ordered a t-bone steak and a parma. The steak meat was very average and it wasn't cooked evenly. The parma wasn't good either, burnt bottom and pretty average seasoning. For the price it's a big miss. The served water was't cold either. Staff was friendly.

Love the breakfast and coffee here. Friendly service. They have the view of the park. Great place to sit down on the deck with a glass of wine or beer. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
