It's one of my favorite Dan's around after the one on chapel street. Mainly because of its location. They have like all Dan's a great variety of drinks and some super specials which will save you hundreds over the festive periods. The staff are well versed when it comes to wine and recommendations. It's conveniently situated just off saddening road. Accessible via train as its situated just opposite Dan's. All in all it has everything you need to get your goodies for a great party.
Never had a problem with this shop. Today however, one of the reps (manager I presume) looms over me, I assume because he thinks I'm a shop lifter. I've been going here for years. The other rep says 'my English is phenomenal, couldn't ever tell'!? Tell what? That I must be a foreigner because I have brown skin and a weird name? Probably thinks I'm Indian too. Mate, I've lived here all my life and am a citizen. Love a bit of casual racial microaggression on a Saturday!
No doubt that Dan Murphy’s has a great stock selection. Prices are competitive and they do offer their own shopping membership plan. This outlet has plenty of parking, loading zones for picking up goods and trolleys for shopping. As they carry a lot of stock, aisles were a bit cramped and searching for items was somewhat chaotic as certain items were not located with like goods. That said, it’s a big store with ample stock so sure to find what you are looking for.
Getting asked for ID at 30 years old and being told my international license isn't valid as proof for my.age though it's the same detail as my passport which is also international from the UK..... I would follow rules and get an aussie license but due to not being a permanent resident I dont need to... so I find this a very poor excuse to reject my custom in buying beer from here, which I have been too before many times previous
Selection is alright but not easy to find anything other than volume sellers. Staff are professional although depends who get at check out as to whether they seem to be enjoying life which is interesting. Perhaps retail isn't for everyone.. Given my preference in wines in particular I'd rather research a smaller independent to find what I'm looking for, although Dan Murphy's is consistent and numerous
Especially on the way home from visiting my dad at Cabrini Hospital, purchasing bottles of Shiraz became quite a regular event. This Dan Murphy's was easily accessible, with substantial parking facilities. The shop space itself is plentiful with many aisles of different types of products. Particularly, the staff there were very helpful, offering me numerous options right through the whole process.
I’ve been buying my drinks from there and everything is just easy to find. Only thing is on the 21st of May around 5:30 I went to buy two bags of ice and the security lady stopped me to check my ID which is fair enough and I explained to her I’m only here to buy two bags of ice not alcohol and she kept asking for it. Do you have to be over 18 to buy two bags of ice? honestly now.
Big shop, not a fan of the refund policy for faulty products. Also noted last few visits they are not the cheapest any more??? Suggest Google price check in store and they will reluctantly match competitors price. They were great when owned by ALH, new owners Endeavour seem greedy, not the same experience the the original Dan inspired back in the day. #googlepriceinstore
It's a big store with help that drop whatever they're doing to provide you with service. They have a section set up 4 the tastings being presented that week. I was undecided about a sherry & there were two available for me to sample. Their catalogue sale drew me to the store this time. I estimate that I saved about $30. I was offered help with my purchases to my car.
Double charged me and they don't even have a phone line to sort it out so now I have to go out of my way to go back for someone else's mistake. What's the point in having a phone line if literally no option allows you to speak to someone? Edit: Going through old reviews and realised I hadn't updated this one, it got sorted and they have been phenomenal ever since!
This shop always has the liquors I need compared to the other shop locations. I also did try a few price match at the store, and they were happy to match the price. Even when the competitor was an online retailer. They matched the Hakushu 12, Yamazaki 12, and Nikka by the Barrel. The store is at a great location and friendly staff too.
Tim was beyond helpful, he was amazing helping us with picking drinks. Henry however was the worst manager I have encountered he was incredibly rude- Henry should most definitely not be in public relations neither should his sidekick ( who has an attitude problem) only talk to Tim not Henry it’s not worth it for Henry!
Very poor customer service at this store. Went in today to buy alchohol for a wedding. Approx spend 5k. We were not approached by any staff member to assist us with options despite being in the store for some time and then told there is a limit of 6 cases on sale of beer. Some staff training might be of benefit.
The best of everything. I was a barman at Telford's Turf Club many years ago. It was bulldozed to be replaced with a Dan Murphy's. My father's accounting practice kept Mr Murphy's books back in the day. AND I had him as a passenger when I drove cabs. We had a lot to talk about.
Hmmmm with the lockdown on this venue is like your own Shop there was no one there and the staff on duty recommended me a few good drops believe me I enjoyed myself in this venue I strongly yes strongly recommend ya pay a visit leave comments please thank you …
If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, chances are they will have it or help you source it. Has to be the best Dan Murphy's or bottle shop I've ever been to. The range of beers and wines is quite extensive with a strong focus on local produce.
Probs the worst Dan's in the country. Poor cold beer selection compared to the Malvern store 5 mins away. Needs a major facelift looks very outdated and dark. I am only giving 2 stars because I did find a bargain. (Would have been a 1 start review)
Before I turned 18 I got away with not getting checked for ID a couple times (which is a little strange for a dans) but I appreciated it. Prices are decent with the members price and there’s a pretty good range of stuff with (mostly) chill staff
You can find almost any type of grog here and they will match the price if you have proof that another store is selling cheaper than them. It's also easy to order online and quite efficient for pick up. Staff are very friendly too
Reduced my score as TWICE now I've purchased items that were displayed as being discounted with a Dan Murphys card, only to scan my card and NOT get the discount advertised. If the promotion has expired then stop displaying it!
fantastic, friendly, helpful service at this massive wine, beer and spirits shop. clerk seemed to know his wines well and was happy to help me pick out what he thought i wanted. great prices as well.
Lowest price guaranteed? I don’t think so! You now need to watch their scanned prices like a hawk. They now don’t even match their own online prices in store. Buyer beware. Bye bye Dans.
Thank you to the young lady that recommended the MGC, dry gin this evening. You were spot on. This gin is most elegant. Your knowledge of gin is unsurpassed. Again, thank you.
Fabulous variety and generally good prices but quality and range of members special offers has dropped off in recent months. That would be a head office decision though.
Great variety of beers, wines and spirits, at the best prices. All you could ever need in a bottle shop. It would be great if they had a drive through service though.
Amazing selection, friendly staff. Check out the single varietal shelves to see what Australian wineries have to offer when it comes to the rare and exotic grapes!
Awesome setup for a tasting that’s happening. This one features moon dog and tells you when to come in. It’s awesome that the stores do things likes this.
Such helpful staff. At several points in our visit staff asked if they could assist. A wonderful example of excellent customer service.
My favorite Dan Murphy's. Always great service and best prices for Dan club members. The staff always greets with a smile.
Good range of beer, cider, wine, spirits and liqueurs close to East Caulfield. Easy to get to among Dandenong road.
Nice and friendly staff, ready to helps with huge variety of booze! Always enjoy my shopping time here.
Reasonably priced bottle shop with plenty of parking. Chardonnay range is a bit thin ♀️ …
So much social engineering in the place. I dont want social campaigns rammed down my throat
Huge store and one of the I my to have a wine merchant. I think he was off that day tho...
Great staff but that seems to be the norm for Dan's. And great selection as per usual.
Fantastic service, staff were extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. Great range
Great friendly and helpful staff Great prices and plenty of parking. …
Very very helpful staff. Appreciated their assistance.
Good range, well laid out and easy to navigate.
