The chronically ill and disabled community have to work through so many issues just for the *hope* of maybe one day being taken seriously, and if this is something that resonates with you, I’d highly recommend avoiding this clinic - even if you read all their doctor profiles online to find one with a category that applies to you, listed in their Interests. God forbid you meet ANY intersections! I’ve seen multiple doctors here regarding concerns and needs of varying degrees of simplicity/difficulty, and honestly I left most of my initial appointments and cried in my car, which I don’t do anymore because I have greatly lowered my expectations. I have been misgendered, laughed at while crying, prescribed medications I don’t need for things I dont have, denied specific testing, have had doctors repeatedly not do paperwork they said they would, or do paperwork incorrectly with an inability to follow up for correction, told “I don’t know, that doesn’t sound like anything” when discussing scary symptoms (my new doctor elsewhere has a team now looking into a BRAIN TUMOUR), and been told literally scientifically factually incorrect medical information. It is bewildering. I have seen only one doctor here (Dr Gabrielle Kelly) who actually listened to what I was saying, heard what I needed, referred me on, and was genuinely interested enough to say she wanted me to let her know how I progress in my diagnosis and treatment externally. All the reception staff are always amazingly friendly and helpful and welcoming though! Our community knows that good, interested, empathetic GPs are hard to find, but if you need an easily accessible clinic (in regards to wait times) for fast turnover issues, please protect yourself and endure a longer wait elsewhere because the mental damage of these appointments will destroy your fighting spirit.

5 stars for Dr Christabel Crompton. I saw her for my first pregnancy and she helped explain one of the first most important decisions new mummas-to-be need to make - which is what type of antenatal care you want to go with. My first experience with her was great so I decided to go with Shared-Care with Dr Crompton & Mercy Hospital. So basically, I saw her for all my checkups right up until the last couple appointments which had to be at the hospital. She was extremely caring, willing to listen, takes time to explain as much as possible in the time allocated without making you feel rushed out. I’m grateful for her care throughout my pregnancy. She does get booked out weeks in advance though so you just need to be organised and book your appointments ahead once you know your check-in schedule which is usually a total of 10-12 appointments for an uncomplicated pregnancy. Costs do add up but I found it worthwhile seeing the same doctor at each appointment who knew my history. Since giving birth, I’ve also seen a handful of other doctors there but my experience with Christabel has definitely been the best. Highly recommend trying to get an appointment with her for your pregnancy care.

Dr Kun Lin Chua at this clinic is legit the best GP my dad and I have ever come across. 10/10 no joke He's been caring for my 74yo dad since when he was working at MedicalOne and we followed him over to this clinic despite us living on the other side of town. I'm happy to make the long drive over everytime because he's the only doctor I trust to manage my dad's complicated health issues. Dr. Chua called us one night at 11 PM, to alert us of the abnormal Troponin levels detected in my father's morning blood test. He urgently recommended that we take my dad to the hospital and even took the initiative to contact the hospital, briefing them on the situation and preparing them for our arrival. Had it not been for Dr. Chua's swift action, my father could have suffered a heart attack unnoticed in his room, in the middle of the night, with no one around to intervene in time. My dad is alive today thanks to Dr. Chua's unwavering dedication to saving lives. We cannot express enough how impressed and grateful we are for the exceptional level of medical expertise, compassion and care that Dr Kun Lin Chua has provided us throughout.

First visit to Doctors of Northcote today and it was wonderful. Saw Dr Greta Basham and she's extremely impressive. She was my doctor a few years ago, but we moved away and changed clinics. I haven't seen her for over 2 years, but had issues with my doctor, so I moved back to Dr Greta. It's great to see a doctor who listens and treats you like you a: matter and b: aren't a fool. I have an extremely complex medical history and she was right on top of it, no mucking around. After 2 years, she actually remembered what my conditions are, and even remembered my medications (not an insubstantial feat). I love being able to discuss my treatment plan and medications in an honest, intelligent manner and decide what we'll do going forward, rather than just being told what to do then checking and finding that what the doctor had told me was incorrect (one of the reasons I went back to Dr Greta, even though she's almost an hour's drive away). I'm really looking forward to continuing in her care.

I've been attending Doctors of Northcote for about eight years now. Due to a complex medical history at both family and personal level I've always needed to find a practitioner and practice who works with me. The reception staff have always been professional and friendly towards both myself and my husband. Willing to communicate quickly with my GP and call me asap if needed. I regularly see Dr Chua (and before him it was Dr Wong) and if he's unavailable I've always been happy to see someone else as they take the time necessary to look at both my history and current medications, while also listening to why I'm there/doing a phone consult on the day. My husband has a natural distrust of doctors due to previous history and since his first appointment here has felt that trust restored. For those who are on a pension, it's up to you to discuss with the GP on your first visit whether they're willing to apply bulk billing for you.

As a new patient I didn't know what to expect from this clinic. But I have to say I was very impressed with the professionalism and exceptional service of this GP. Reception staff were helpful and accomodating. Waiting rooms are well structured and their online booking system is very convenient. There is also a pharmacy right next door where you can just walk in and get your prescriptions. Talk about making life easy. Ended up seeing Dr Chua who was very patient and assessed my health concerns. After all the GPs I've visited over the years, this will have to be by far the best one I've experienced. I definitely trust my health with Doctors of Northcote.

Similarly to the other reviews, I've had nothing but positive experiences at Doctors of Northcote. I've had extensive experience as a patient in primary and tertiary health services and both Dr Simon Bird and after he moved on, Dr Claudia Ventii have been exceptional and made an enormous difference to my quality of life. I've been going to Doctors Of Northcote for a few years and have noticed the service and quality of doctors really declining. I thought I'd give the clinic another try today, made an appointment for my baby with cold symptoms and called beforehand to see if they would see him in person or if there was anything we needed to do since he had cold symptoms- they said it was fine and to come in. Once we arrived for appointment was told we couldn't be seen as he hadn't done a RAT test prior. Appalling communication, never returning again.

One of the best medical centres I've been to. It was a great experience from the initial phone call to the actual appointment itself. Reception was very friendly and professional. Facilities were modern and clean. I was seen promptly as per schedule which is quite rare (although it also helped that it was a Sunday). Dr Nina Mendoza was very thorough and without missing a beat, she had a slew of options to look into. It's been challenging finding a GP in Melbourne (after moving from Sydney), but I would definitely come back here.

A large and corporate focussed practice, I have attended here since the dawn of time (it seems). There is a rapid turnover of medical staff (perhaps this is telling) - and from time to time you will find a great practitioner. There is nothing warm or welcoming, it is pricey, but efficient. Why do I still attend this practice if it is so underwhelming? It is convenient. You can usually get an appointment within 48 hours (so, not if you are actually ill). It is just meh.

I had an appointment with Dr kun lin chua for a broken hand - he referred me to have surgery yet I left the appointment with no direction nor care on how to manage a severely broken hand, not even a mention of a cast or brace? This is on my dominate hand which I cannot use properly at work and he didn’t even ask about it or ask if I needed a medical certificate if I can’t complete my duties such as lifting, typing or pain ect. Would not recommend.

I’ve seen a few doctors and nurses here for myself and my 8 month old bub and they are always lovely. I always leave the practice feeling as though I have been listened to and care for – they are also always so patient with my little one when he is having a bit of a tantrum! The reception staff are always so helpful and welcoming, it’s always nice to walk in and immediately feel at ease from their warm and friendly presence. Thanks guys!

Very poor experience, that was kind of unexpected since the clinic has good reviews. Prepare yourself to take care of the receptionist job on your own by filling up the same request files a few days after you already done it, otherwise it’s not fun. And don’t feel bad to call them, you’re not harassing them, they just give you the full information after a few calls instead of giving everything at once

Fantastic and friendly clinic. I was over from interstate and found myself crook on a Thursday night and was struggling to find a clinic that was available at night. Thankfully my friend recommended Doctors of Northcote who managed to get me in with a few hours’ notice. Doc Mandal was great and the girls at the desk we’re brilliant and welcoming. After not visiting a GP for several years I was very pleased by the professional & warm service that I received from Dr Miriam Yassar. I went in with a few issues and nothing was a problem to work thru. She spent the time and went above & beyond my expectations with follow up and reviews. The clinic is very welcoming and the staff are most professional I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I've had many GPs over the years and I can honestly say Doctors of Northcore do not disappoint. Dr Andrew Sampson has taken over my care since Dr Simon Bird moved on (also a great GP) and I've felt extremely well cared for. Receptionist and Dr Jenny were very helpful and thoughtful. Really appreciate having the service open on a Sunday and willing to see our little girl with flu-like symptoms. We did a RAT test (which was negative) prior and called to let them know before arrival. GP also helped provide alternative script due to a current antibiotic shortage. Will be back again.

After becoming a patient here I was expecting better, more care and consideration after taking my child in with an eye injury - the doctor wouldn’t come out to have a look- just said go to the ER. This was just as they opened and we were the first there . The receptionist was lovely - not her fault but they have lost my family after this lack of care .

Very nice reception staff, kind and accommodating and respectful of everyone. A number of waiting rooms well furnished with excellent new chairs in a client friendly arrangement. Windows. Clean and light. Easy access. As a new patient my experience was excellent and my doctor wonderful. I put this as my best ever experience at a medical centre.

As a long time user of the doctors of northcote, I am very happy with the level of care that I receive. However as a pensioner, with some on going health issues that sometimes require more frequent visits, I feel the policy of charging is not acceptable and does not promote patients to follow up on their care with these on going expenses.

Very friendly and down-to-earth. An overall painless experience, but I felt that the consultation was rushed. I went in with a sports injury and the doctor did little more than confirm that I was in pain. There was no talk of treatment (stretching, strengthening, etc...). In this respect the casual atmosphere became a negative.

Polite, efficient reception staff and competent doctors. Everything you'd expect in an Australian medical practice. Pity that they no longer bulk bill, especially at a time when low income earners are feeling the pinch. But then Medicare rebates haven't kept up either and it's hard to keep GPs, so it's understandable.

I used to get anxiety going to the GP since most of my experience has always been negative and the gp being condescending. I regularly have been seeing Dr. Ratan Mandal, and he’s very kind and understanding. Not bulk-billed but super worth it, you are paying for the quality of your care.

I have attended Doctors of Northcote for over a decade. The staff and medical professionals are always excellent to deal with. Online booking is easy, and generally a doctor can be seen within 24 hours, unless you have a regular, which can sometimes mean waiting a few days.

I've seen and spoken (phone consult) with a few GPs here but Dr Andrew Sampson is my regular. They're all great! But Dr Sampson has been excellent at setting treatment plans and giving advice for various things. Staff at the desk are courteous and professional.
