Ever since my incredible family GP, Dr Nadine Fisher of over 10 years retired a few years ago, it’s been very difficult searching for someone to replace her. The challenge of finding another GP that makes me feel properly seen, heard, comfortable and understood has indeed been a tough and painful one. Fortunately, I have found another GP clinic which is not only close by but provides wonderful and excellent services. It is from Doctors of South Melbourne that I have finally found my new family GP, Dr Rachael Sutherland, who I am truly grateful for. I am so thankful to have stumbled upon this clinic. I love the fact that you are able to request scripts to be sent if required, without needing to book in a full consult. It makes it much easier and convenient to ensure that I am always able to access my medication without the risk of compromising on not being able to secure an appointment. Additionally, the facilities in the clinic are very clean and modern which is a lovely touch to the overall patient experience. Not only are the receptionist staff so friendly and helpful, but the doctors and nurses are always warm, supportive and very understanding. I currently see Dr Rachael Sutherland as my main doctor and Dr Achala Manchanda when Rachael is unavailable. They are both amazing and knowledgeable GPs and I am so lucky to be able to receive such high quality care from both of them! Most importantly, I am incredibly grateful for Dr Rachael Sutherland’s ongoing support and care as my new GP. Despite attending the clinic as a relatively new patient, she has made a huge and drastic difference to both my mental and physical health. Furthermore she is extremely caring and empathetic, being able to understand my needs whenever I come to see her regarding my healthcare and concerns. The level and standard of care provided by Rachael is phenomenal. Thank you so much Dr Sutherland, you are truly amazing! ❤️

It’s a shame that the practice manager is such a unprofessional person. Second time they have not processed my Medicare claim prop. The first time I let slip through but this time I rang to check what’s the deal to accomplish such a simple task?? The practice manager was completely rude and condescending. She has zero customer service skills and completely arrogant. If I could I would have given 0 stars. Unfortunately I will have to process my claim manually again for the second time. They said they are not sure why it has been rejected by Medicare even though I never had any Medicare claim receipt given by the provider even when I asked for that. The receptionist said she couldn’t give to me the receipt but she would email me. That never happened. Rang Medicare to check why I haven’t received my money yet and for my surprise they said that the claim has been deleted by the provider. On the phone the practice manager said that the claim has been rejected and Medicare “worded wrong”. Ha what a joke for something that should be automatically done. Such an inconvenience for nearly $200 consultation. I understand mistakes can happen but at least have the decency of owning and be humbled enough to follow through. Note: Dr.Achala is lovely and such a good doctor. The review is based on the treatment given by the practice manger.

1 star for the location and 1 star for the receptionist who rejected me but did try to answer my questions. I walked in because I am a tourist. I absolutely have no wish to fall sick while on holiday but life sucks. Granted I had no appointment but she did not help to check with the doctors to see if they could squeeze a few min of their precious time to attend to me. Told me to try other clinics but it’s the only 1 around the area that is opened on a Saturday. She helped me to check that Port Melbourne Medical was opened and told me to go over. I asked if I could borrow a phone so that I could call and not make another wasted trip in my sick body. But she did not have a phone to lend me (I’m using my country SIM card so it would be an international call). Anyway, no empathy, not helpful. Zero star for the doctors because I didn’t even get to see them. Port Melbourne Medical did turn me away too because I did not have appt but the guy helped to ask the doctor and offered to make me an appt for tomorrow. He also suggested some medications for me to buy from chemist myself which would help to soothe my symptoms. Absolute heaven compared to this clinic.

I simply could not be happier with Dr Layilla Osman from Doctors of South Melbourne. After a very serious health scare which has seen me return to live in Australia I went on the hunt for a new GP. My first attempt (at an entirely different clinic with no connection) was a truly awful experience that left me shaken to my core, with no follow up information to allay my now extremely heightened fears. After one visit with Dr Osman, nearly all of those fears were calmed and suddenly what lays ahead of me seems much less terrifying. I felt seen, heard, and incredibly respected. She was thorough and thoughtful and even though she had to deliver me bad news (which the other GP had entirely neglected to tell me) she was so kind about it that I left feeling the most grounded I have since this health scare began. I have definitely found my new GP, as has my partner who came to the appointment with me and also had nothing but wonderful things to say Dr Osman. I couldn’t recommend Dr Osman any more highly.

I have been coming here for just over a year and the doctors are good unfortunately the one you may want is possibly not taking any more patients. The appointment times are not all day certain doctors work certain days and certain hours but they are professional and the front desk staff are lovely. Theyve just moved offices so it’s all very fresh and clean and professional. It is expensive though you’ll be out of pocket after Medicare approximately $70 which is a lot to pay. However if you just want to get a prescription and your a regular patient it’s $22 for a script! Like most medical establishments they will keep you waiting but not for nearly as long as other medical centres. I have dealt with two of the doctors here and on all occasions they have been friendly engaged and professional. They have a pathology centre right next door which is very handy. Plus you can do teli calls if that is your preference

I know this will sound hyperbolic, but I've seen a lot of doctors, in Melbourne and Perth. Most of them have a compulsion to tell you what you're feeling is not real, ask if you're not just imagining things, or they try to get rid of you as soon as possible. In the last 5 years I've had a worsening chronic issue nobody can find answers to. I had one session with Dr Nicholas Hudson and he was extremely receptive, friendly, and solutions-focused. Not just another "let's do a blood test and cross our fingers" but "let's also do X, Y, and if that doesn't work, we can try Z". I can't give him 6 stars, but Dr Hudson is the best GP I've ever seen. PS. Oh, and the reception staff are lovely. Most of the staff at other places are pretty sour and disinterested, but they're awesome here. Tells you a lot about the quality of the leadership team and practice managers that everyone is happy and kind here.

I went to see Dr Judith Kirwood a week ago. It was over a very sensitive matter. The appointment went for 10 minutes at most (when I had booked for a longer appointment), she was very vague, quick & it felt like she just wanted me out of the consultation. Didn’t ask me if I had any questions & certainly didn’t make me feel at ease during the consultation. She sent me to get blood tests which I did the next day, & told me would be in touch as soon as results were in. Results were ready the day after; a week in & I’m still yet to receive any communication whatsoever from her. The appointment out of pocket cost was $106 for 10 minutes, vagueness & not feeling supported. Supposedly with a $40 medicare rebate which I’m still also waiting on. So appalled, disappointed & annoyed at this Drs treatment.

Hands down the best healthcare I've received in my life. I have been coming to Doctors of South Melbourne since it began years ago, and through my doctor's expert care we have managed to diagnose and manage multiple conditions that were very hard to pinpoint. I feel supported and validated at all times, from my GP to the reception staff. The clinic is also incredibly well appointed with accessibility, air filters, sanitiser, and self check-in options - it all makes a huge difference to my healthcare experience. I've moved multiple times and now live on the other side of the city, but I still come to this clinic for all my healthcare. Thank you Elaine and team for your stellar work as always!

My family and I have been patients of this Clinic since we moved to Melbourne three years ago. I cannot recommend it highly enough. My husband and I both see Dr Elaine Sung who I feel confident in saying will be our GP for a very long time. She is compassionate, thorough and very approachable. When making referrals to other medical professionals she takes the time to consider not only who is the most competent in their field but also whether their temperament will be suitable. Our children have been seen by Dr Sophie Carter who has shown empathy and consideration especially in the way she communicates with them. Reception/office staff have always been professional and discreet.

Cool vibe, lots of light and healthy plants embracing a biophilic, modern-industrial-melburnian look . Best of all, everyone was just lovely, from the front office to the GPs. Quite accessible too, very near South Melb Market for a much needed "self-care" as per the doctor's advice. Dr Jeanne North is a great listener, is compassionate, and allowed me to talk thru my long medical history un-rushed! Just being allowed to share is golden, but what's fascinating is all of it was captured in an accurate write up for the next doctor. I do not always leave reviews but so happy to have found this clinic just by Googling "best GP Melbourne." Hence sharing my review for others to see.

I've been attending this practice for several years now and I've had consistently excellent support and care. I've seen several different Dr's where my primary Dr hasn't been available (due to me booking late!) and in every instance I've been impressed by the experience. I have never felt rushed, I always feel like there is genuine concern shown for me as a patient and most importantly I feel the Dr's at this practice listen to you as a patient vs just moving instantly to treat. Finally the reception staff are always extremely polite, friendly and helpful. Just a really well run, patient focussed, practice all round.

Highly recommended practice, everyone is super nice and caring, I feel very well looked after every single time! In all other practices I've been before, I've always felt uncomfortable, rushed and neglected. Here I always feel very relaxed and that my doctors genuinely care about my wellbeing. Also, everything is always immaculate, from reception to waiting room and bathroom, and doctors' offices. Seriously, can't recommend it enough, all visits are worth every single dollar. Both Dr Sophie Carter and Dr Nicholas Hudson are excellent doctors, very grateful to both of them both me and my husband.

Dr Judith is my go to for everything and has been for about 4 years now. She is kind and listens but is also efficient and reminds me of things that I hadn't thought of ie. skin checks, hormone/general blood work (now that i'm reaching mid 30's). Is usually on time for the appointment (give or take 5 mins or so). In my opinion the small out of pocket fee is worth it for the care that you get and the ease of finding an appointment time with a great doctor at short notice in an immaculately clean clinic. Reception staff are 10/10 as well, so friendly and helpful!

Best GP experience ever! I never thought I would say that I love going to see a GP, but Doctors of South Melbourne has been amazing and I have recommended Elaine and the team to multiple friends. They are friendly, considerate, caring, are really helpful in answering all my questions and providing simple explanations. Very hight level of patient care. Best experience! Before booking my first appointment I reviewed many places and the good reviews of Doctors of South Melbourne called my attention. They certainly deserve all the best comments! The clinic is beautifully decorated, the girls at reception are super nice, Doctor James very attentive (he took his time to answer all my questions about travelling to Bali), and lastly the nurse was able to kindly provide all the needed vaccines at the moment. Very recommended!

Dr Redwood was very professional and took the time to listen and review my history as this was our first consultation, He understood my problem and was able to offer a solution. He needed to clear my ears, and did this with a minimum of fuss and explained the steps of the procedure all the way through. I liked how he is proactive and has set up a hearing appointment to investigate further which I have already organised. I was very happy with the consultation. 5 stars

Hi, I am very careful while going to clinics & most importantly trusting a doctor. It takes time for me personally. However, all the doctors at this clinic are so genuine, honest, transparent & really helpful in those tough times when you would want to feel better. No doubt it’s little expensive but Medicare card does help. You have to choose what’s important for you - trustworthy doctors or saving fees cost. Hope this helps! Cheers!

I was very nervous about coming here as i live very far away. Yet Dr Tasha Patel was very kind and understanding. She was very supportive and thorough with her explanations which made it easy to open up about my situation and i am very grateful to have her as my GP. The receptionist was also very sweet and easy to talk to, while the place itself is very clean and has a calming atmosphere. It was definitely worth the travel.

Doctor Rachael Sutherland is a fantastic doctor- she provided me with lots of reassurance, warmth, compassion and education. She listened really well, I felt heard and received beautiful care from her and felt confident in knowing the next best steps forward for my health. The clinic space is modern and the music and plants add a beautiful touch. The reception girls are lovely and friendly, I highly recommend this clinic.

Dr Patel is lovely. I had a bad experience else where when trying to see someone about trans issues. Immediately Dr Patel was understanding and knowledgeable and was genuinely kind. After a minefield of Doctors who aren't quite sure what you need as a trans person but happy enough to take your money, Dr Patel was a breath of fresh air and put me at ease. I would highly recommend you go see her if you need help.

I am eternally grateful that I have Dr. Elaine Sung as my GP and that she cares for me as if I am the only person in the world. She takes the time to explain things carefully and her referrals have been to the best specialists as well. I don't think that I should post this review though in case she becomes even more popular! However, I have absolute confidence in all the other doctors at this practice as well.

I have been going to Drs of South Melbourne for 5+ years and have had mostly really positive experiences. I really like the continuation of care I receive when Dr Sung is booked out weeks in advance! I can be assured that the computer system will provide enough information and I can see any Dr at the clinic. All of the Drs and staff are lovely and knowledgeable. They play a big part in my medical Team :-)

My children and I have had appointments with several different GPs at this practice since they opened a few years ago. Booking online is straightforward, we are rarely kept waiting for appointments, the reception staff and all of the GPs have been kind, friendly and communicated very well with us. I am 63 yrs old and have been a patient of Dr Kirkwood for many years and will be for many more thanks to her knowledgeable, professional, compassionate and excellent care. Dr Kirkwood invests so much care into me as her patient - I am very lucky that she is my GP Nd cannot thank/recommend her enough. Reception staff are exceptional also - friendly, helpful and respectful.

Great practice, wonderful and thorough doctors, I also chose to do my pregnancy care with them and have been so happy with everything from nurse appointments for blood work to reception staff who are always so helpful and friendly. My GP will be our family doctor and she is extremely caring with great rapport and wonderful information no matter what the problem.

Receptionists and Manager were very unprofessional, giving patients the wrong information about vaccine requirements and then cancelling bookings 1 hour before the appointment because they didn't agree on the information given. Nothing to say about the doctors, but the rest of the stuff is just a waste of time. Don't ever go to this place.

It’s a great medical centre. I have been visiting for over a year now. I have been seeing Dr Judith and Dr Michael and they are both really amazing. Doctors are patient and listen to your problems and give time. Reception staff are very welcoming as well. Premises is very clean and have plants and make its cozy place in waiting area.

I am very fortunate to have such a good GP who works at this practice. The practice is well organised. In addition they have air purifiers, insist on mask wearing, large windows that open and that can provide improved ventilation. In addition they have a very beautiful wall of plants that I am sure are in better health than myself.

Doctors of South Melbourne have a good variety of highly qualified GP's that specialize in a range of health issues . Added bonus is that the surgery have nurses available for any extra care. All staff I have interacted with have all been so lovely and helpful. I also like that 30 minute and 15 minute appointments all cost the same. It means the doctors are hardly ever running behind as people book the appointment the need without worrying about costs.
