Amazing doctor. One of the best in the city. However I cant even begin to describe how bad the staff is there. But I will try. When you call...your on hold for 45 minutes. Sometimes they pick up right away. Why? Well go in and you'll see. ALL of them fool around make jokes walk away from their desks as I even hear the phone ringing and they slam everyone on hold. Noone is ever there to answer the phone because they are busy comparing dog photos or something. Then you get an appointment and same thing. They fool around and EVENTUALLY get to you. They regularly empty the entire rooms and dont add more people. It's simple math and the amount of times I've been there. It shouldn't be a 1 hour process to set an appointment for 2-3 weeks away. My SPECIALIST doctors office has a hold time of about 30 seconds-2 minutes and book me for my understandable 1 month+ wait. This has been a problem for about 5 years now and still no improvement.

Dr. Nwaka who just took over his practice is actual trash. Terrible doctor. Horrible experience. Does not care about his patients what so ever. Took over dr. Fontaines practice and has treated all his patients like garbage. Went through a miscarriage.. he never called back my 5 phone calls over 2 weeks, never folllwed up when he said he would. I told his receptionist I was upset… and Literally told me I can go see another doctor if I want bc he wants to cut his practice I’m half? How is this guy a doctor clearly he doesn’t care about patients. Disgusting this guy is a healthcare professional “

20 years ago Dr. Fonteyne was a good doctor that cared. That has all changed. He is now a glorified drug dealer. He rushes you in and out without even listening to your concerns. He throws a prescription in your face and moves on to the next poor soul needing medical attention that they won't get. He is negligent and often rude. The staff there are even worse. Do yourself a favor and see another doctor at another clinic. If I could give him and this clinic zero stars I would have but that's not an option.

WE MISS DR. FONTEYNE! I called to book an appointment with the Doctor taking over for Dr Fonteyne and was told we had to find a new family doctor - with no notice.. I was told they were going to send out letters, but decided not to. Doctor Nwaka has decided that he will not be taking any of Dr. Fonteyne's patients that haven't visited the clinic in the past 18 months. I guess we're getting punished for being healthy now..

Dr Fonteyne has been my Doctor for many years is very professional and easy to talk. He ensures that you are taken care of and he runs all the appropriate tests needed. I trust him fully with my care People need to understand that the government keeps cutting Doctor fees. That’s why they can only treat you for one ailment at on appointment. I highly recommended Dr Fonteyne to anyone. I wish they could clone him.

Absolutely fantastic GP. Have seen him for many years, after struggling to find someone whom I trust. He's very approachable and down to earth. Many of my family and friends now see him as well, and I'm not aware of anyone who's had a poor experience. Only negative is the wait time (to make appt, lead time for appt, and wait time while at clinic). Could be better, but the quality of care is worth the wait IMHO.

Dr. Fonteyne is no longer at this clinic. Be warned that if you are in good health and haven't needed to use the doctor in a while, they will drop you as a client if they have any doctor changes there. It was a decent place when Dr. Fonteyne was there, but I can no longer recommend them due to the high turnover of doctors there and them dropping clients without any warning.

Pretty much I'm in quite a lot of pain from him not ever examining me properly as I had asked him to and just shoved more and more prescriptions at me. If you want to be double booked and constantly wait 45 minutes past your appointment see this crook. Care more about making money than his patients for the past few years. See someone else

I've been a patient of Dr. Fontenye for just under 20 years. He really does take the time to listen to the patient's (me) subjective concerns. He's detailed in providing insight from test results, and I get the sense he cares about my best interests.

I like this doctor but almost always I need to wait for 2 weeks to see him and I end up go to random walkin clinic..seems he has too many patients.. and his office receptionists are worst part..even today I was on phone waiting 40min then

Best doctor in Edmonton. Incredible knowledge and experience combined with friendly personalized care. Highest recommendation. So fortunate to have such a highly trained professional left in Alberta. Thank-you!

Updated: very disappointed I got zero notice of my family doc moving on and we got pushed into a new docs care. The history and relationship was cut off abruptly, I wish Mr Fonteyene well, he will be missed.

Dr. Michaels gets it. Excellent bedside manner, no wait time, investigative mind and ability to connect, you know where you stand immediately and what next steps look like. A true world class Doctor.

So sad to hear of his retirement. I have been going there for almost 20 years and Dr. Fonteyne was so good. Very attentive and always listed to mine and my families concerns.

Great GP, takes his time, and he cares. Very busy office, book your appointments ahead of time. Thankful to have a great family doctor close by.

Awesome doctor, very comfortable around him and he has your best interests at heart in my opinion.
