This is not a review, but a love letter. I've tried a few of their offerings throughout the years. Their burgers are generously filled and so are their sandwiches. Local Kedron students, all veterans of the Clayfield/Wooloowin/Eagle Junction takeaway shops, claim their chips reign supreme. The star of this shop, however, is their banh mi. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful it is to have access to such flavoursome, well-priced and fresh banh mi without crossing the river to Southside! I've only tried two so far: The grilled pork particularly showcases the super intricate layering of sweet and salty flavours against the crunch of the baguette and the slightly fattiness of the meat. Hard to describe, but it was simultaneously melt in your mouth while still retaining a slight bite, a soft chewyness. This is the one to get. Seriously close to heaven on earth. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The beef was slightly hard to chew and required a lot of jaw work and pulling apart. It was quite hard to get a balanced bite, as the texture of the meat against the other fillings weren't really as complementary. Pass, go for the pork. EJ takeaway is near perfect if not for the inconsistency of the banh mi fillings (sorry to those who dont eat pork). I do wish they were more generous with their pate as I am used to Sydney banh mi joints (like Marrickville, an institution in itself) and have found that they use way more pate interstate. Thank you so much for being a beacon of carby hope in this side of Brisbane. If any banh mi joint deserve a cult following, this is it. Pictured: Grilled pork filling. This guy makes THE best Banh Mi's! I've had the pork and chicken and both are delish! Pork is nicely marinated caramelized, cucumber and coriander fresh and crunchy, just the right amount of chilli, buns are perfect and all brought together with the mayo/pate - absolutely sweet az! The cook or the boss of the joint also very friendly man, great service with a smile, and will check-in with you if food is all good and have a little chat. Great takeaway shop, I highly recommend it!

Honestly the best I’ve ever had. Proper old school fish and chips. Great bloke running it as well. As genuine as they come.

I am lucky enough to get to frequent EJ Takeaway due to the close proximity to my work. Every single time I am amazed at the quality and taste of the food. I am now at the point where I ask the order to order for me. Had a banh mi roll today. The single most tasty thing I have ever eaten from a takeaway shop, ever. Deffinately get amongst it and give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

The new pork rolls are to die for, the chips are crisp and fresh, the fish is delicious and the chicken kebabs, salads, and sandwhiches are also amazing. Competitively priced with generous portions, it’s fish and chips done right. The owner and staff look after you like you’re one of their own - from a local who’s in there twice a week

Above average banh mi. They toasted the bread slightly so it was nice and crunchy. They could have given more meat in the filling, but perhaps they were keeping costs down ($8.50) for each banh mi.

OMG, all I can say is wow! We just had the best chicken burger ever! Beautiful generous crispy chicken, avo, lettuce, tomato in a fresh bun, the Mayo sauce was sensational! Great food and so cheap, $9 chicken burger that was better than what you would get at some big name burger bars that would cost you double.

Just tried their gourmet chicken burger and oh my gosh, definitely worth trying. Huge, filled with flavor. Definitely will be back

Been ordering chips here a couple of times, but there was a queue here today a little busy. From the back of the queue the owner recognised me and started cooking me my 5 dollars of chips without a word said. Can't ask for better service, but really it's the chips that keep me coming back.

Greatest customer service. The chips are excellent - fresh, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The fish is perfectly cooked. Exceptional value for money. Couldn't rate it more highly. If someone is feeling a craving for fish and chips, there's nowhere else you should go.

My wife (Vietnamese) made me sleep on the sofa because I couldn’t stop wow-ing at how delicious the banh mi was after every bite. (Just kidding, she loved it too.) The fish and chips were also great.
