Eleanor Tinsley Park is an excellent choice for those who enjoy hiking or biking in a serene environment. The park offers beautiful trails that allow you to immerse yourself in nature while engaging in outdoor activities. One of the highlights is the breathtaking view of downtown from certain spots within the park. It adds a touch of charm and allure to the overall experience. However, it's important to note that during my visit, the weather was quite hot. The lack of shade in certain areas made it a bit uncomfortable, especially during the warmer hours of the day. If you plan to visit, I recommend bringing sunscreen, hats, and plenty of water to stay hydrated and protected from the sun. Despite the heat, the peaceful ambiance and the stunning downtown backdrop make Eleanor Tinsley Park a worthwhile destination for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a break from the bustling city life. Just be prepared for the weather conditions, and you're sure to have a memorable time.

This park is amazing!! Came in the evening for a picnic dinner and it was great. Parking can kinda be a hassle but we were able to get a spot many rows down. Parking cost a $1 for 3 hours. They do have someone going around checking license plates. Pay at the meter, need to input license number fyi. Park has many young and old faces some on roller skates, scooters, and many just walking and running. Nice walk along the bayou and even some sculptures on the paths. Trash and recycling bins located along as well. There is a road that goes along and can get loud at rush hour but all in all just a peaceful place to relax and see what nature and our beautiful city has to offer. I hope to come back soon :)

The park is scenic and clean. The walkways are wide. There are designated trails for bikes and pedestrians. This is my favorite park in Houston. On the downside, be sure to use the restroom prior to coming. Otherwise, there's one portable restroom hidden near the police memorial. Additionally, I've noticed a lot of broken vehicle glass in parking areas. I'd like to see the city do more to protect people's property. Be sure to take all valuables!!!
Dog-friendliness
There's plenty of space to walk your dog. There's also at least one dog park.
Picnic area
There are very nice places for a picnic. You can have a picnic in a scenic area or somewhere more secluded. There's a lot of space.

Per a Google search and Google Maps reviews, this park is a good place to view the downtown Houston skyline unobstructed. There's a long line of parking spaces stretching away from downtown on the border of the park. If you walk toward downtown, then you should encounter a structure overlooking downtown and a large field with outdoor sports lights. I didn't fully explore the park since I was with other people and only looking for a place to take a skyline photo. From what I saw, the park is well maintained and an excellent place for walking, cycling, or picnicking. There was a bicycle rack with rental bikes near the park.

Beautiful park! Wow! I moved away from Houston about 15 years ago but have been back often. Somehow I've never been to this park until last week! It's so amazing. Many different areas to explore and either work out, relax or just walk around. Keep in mind that finding a restroom seems to be the only impossible task there. The park feels quite safe and I saw security often. It is dog friendly and folks seemed to be picking up after their poochies pretty well. Do take the time to go check it out if you are near the Memorial / downtown area of Houston. Beware! You may fall in love with the city there

Park is always lovely and filled with so much activity. Folks havin picnics, playing football, rugby, they have a sand volleyball court. There’s a company that sets up these lovely picnic in the park deal and a great place to plan activities with big groups. The trails are nice and very long so you will definitely get your steps in. There is a playground and a skate park in the area. Parking is where you can find it and they have the kiosk to pay. Bring your mats or chairs if you plan on spending the day out there and something to provide shade and your water bottles. Beautiful place to spend the day.

We were trying to take photos of someone and we were unaware of the contract for taking photos on the property if we used a tripod and someone came to tell us that and we were like ok will leave. But she continued to stand there and watch us as if we were criminals. Then she followed us as we were trying to locate another place to shoot. She made us feel hella uncomfortable and I'm sure it is not in her job description to stand there and watch us....she did the absolute most. We have shot photos there before and had a stand and no one bothered us. She looked like she was already having a bad day.

ETP has now been combined with Buffalo Bayou Park. There is much to see, with the recent flood of mud everywhere and the cleanup which is ongoing. Here are pictures before the devastation. Each shows the wonderful high lights you can capture given the right moment and time. Bring the family and make an outing in the middle of the city. See the Waterworks, take a walk down to the Police Memorial, up the Disability North path to see the Arts at 2100 Memorial, and see the ducks on your way back, along many of the paths.

1st time attending Jaz In the park. Was amazing, great crowd, good music, beautiful weather. We are new to the area and love that we moved here . I LOVE all the attractions for family fun we will be back.

I can’t believe I experienced racism on the 4 of July ,whoever was working the play machine does not need to be at that event anymore ..he pick and choose and I bet he denied almost every colored person there …my son wanted to get on the play thingy and he let a Mexican or white person go before us …the little boy and my son were the same height and he say my son couldn’t go on because of his height …racist at its finest and he knew he was racist because he kept looking at me …do better

Absolutely in LOVE with this park! It's beautiful, clean, huuuge, even have its own skate park area! (Sadly, the only area with restroom) You can run, walk, bring your pets (leashed), ride bikes, skate, have a picnic, you name it! It's beyond lovely and they have outstanding little surprises along the park! If you're like me who loves to take pictures, go to this park with your phone/camera on FULL battery!!! my mistake was to go to the park on 18% lol

  • Luda_ Ventures

Great place to escape the city life within the city. Parking is only $1 for 3 hours which is amazing and gives you more than enough time to get in a great scenic bike ride, walk, run, jog, or stroll through Eleanor Tinsley Park. Even the with Hurricane Harvey flooding City of Houston and volunteers are working fast to rebuild and revamp. Tip: have camera ready lots of rabbits, bunnies, and great scenes of Houston to capture! Enjoy!

  • Bob Yu

The views of the Houston skyline are absolutely stunning. The walkways are also very nice. The reason for three stars is because of the lack of parking and parking signs. Do not make the mistake of parking along Sabine street. Apparently most of that block is tow away zones, and there are parking enforcement officers constantly patrolling the area. If you can, bike down to the park, or just take public transportation.

  • Victoria Garcia

Awesome public space. Very lively at night when it’s warm. Great spot and plenty of open space for families or anyone to play soccer/volleyball/spike ball/football or picnic. Parking can be challenging if you don’t live close by. I like to ride my bike around the area or have my dog pull me on a skateboard, trails are fairly smooth. If you’re planning to visit the area definitely visit this park.

  • Sara Norton

It was our first visit to Houston and we brought the scooters hoping to be able to explore the city. Our first ride started in the park, and I can't say enough about how beautiful it is with the river flowing through. Everything was clean, and you could tell people really use the space to relax and be outside. The view when we returned to the car tonight was breathtaking!

  • Rabimba Karanjai

By day this place is always crowdy. But come at night, and this place provides you a peaceful abode to have conversations with yourself. The calm night and beautiful skyline is an added bonus. I always love to just sit here at night. You can bike around too if you want. And it's quite safe around here. Have stayed till almost 2 A.M here and didn't see any problem

  • Estefany Sanchez

We came with friends to ride bike and it was a great time! Despite our lack of athleticism we had lots of fun. We went around 7 and there were lots of people out. The bike riding path was a little tricky to maneuver because of all the walking people. The trails had beautiful views of the city and lots of places to stop and get a cute selfie.

  • BalBoyss

Park is really awesome place to enjoy it every time I go people are nice the atmosphere is great so much activity going on and so much room for everyone to enjoy their own peace and quiet. I like to rent scooters put them on my truck and then drive about 5 minutes to this park and then just ride my scooters around and have a great time.

  • Anthony Evangelista

Amazing walking Park with lots of interesting things to see and explore. The Cistern is amazing and shouldn't be missed.
Restrooms
Clean and maintained
Dog-friendliness
Lots of green spaces for them to run
Picnic area
Plenty of benches along the paths to sit and reflect and have a snack but make sure not to litter.

  • Tommy Budhijanto

I run and bike here mostly on the weekends. The pedestrian traffic density tends to peak around 9AM and again in the late afternoon around 5-6PM . This is a great park to walk on. This is not a great park for intense cycling training (see pedestrian foot traffic density comment). There's a dog park as well!

  • Christopher Roman

My favorite place in all of Buffalo Bayou Park! There's a huge grassy area, a volleyball court, a pavilion, and fantastic views of downtown. It's such a nice place to hang out, or play volleyball, or picnic, or play Frisbee, or take pictures! I even saw a couple get engaged here. You should stop for sure!

  • John Augillard

This place is known for the 4th of July concerts but it is a beautiful park with nice trails where you can see the skyline of Houston. It's always clean and doesn't smell like an urban park. The air is clean, no wild animals. A true Houston treasure!
Dog-friendliness
Little doggies everywhere!

  • Angelina Llanez

Had Several food trucks to choose from. You have to bring your own chair and Blanets cause they have no seating. It's basically a park upstairs with A big stage. Parking was decent. 5.50. The view of the downtown skyline was amazing. The event I was attending was Jazzy Sundays in the Park.

  • Francesco Conti

Great river-front vacation rental with kayaks and inner tubes to float down the San Marcos river. Screened in porch was really big with a lounge area and large dinning table. 6 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms and a half bathroom, tennis court, fire pit and lots of common areas for families.

  • Board Game Black Hole

Really cool park. It follows Buffalo Bayou north of downtown Houston. Lots of interesting places to walk, run, ride, ok play. There is a great skatepark and the Buffalo Bayou Cistern is amazing. Great views of the skyscrapers in downtown Houston. Great place for a picnic or a workout!

  • marllory barrientos

Little gem hidden next to downtown! The view is so nice! And there's a lot of space for the kids to run/play. Or simply lay down or have a pic nic kinda afternoon. The only problem is the parking, but if you don't mind to park somewhere else and walk. You will not be disappointed

  • Josh Atkins (Josh Atkins Photography)

As a photographer, I love coming here to this beautiful park in the heart of Houston. The grounds are lovely with all different views, including a jaw-dropping view of the Houston Downtown skyline. This park is one of my go-to spots for engagement sessions and family portraits!

  • Hiep Nguyen

One of the best place to see Houston Skyline. There are 2 sides of the park (that are divided by the bridge). Both are fine during the day, but the one on the left-hand side of the bridge (if you’re coming from the main road) is visibly better & safer during the night.

  • Sayantan Pramanik

The nearness of this park to Houston downtown gives the park goers some of the most stunning views of the downtown skyline. It has some nice trails for dog walking and running as well with some great views of the bayou.
Picnic area
Has a great picnic area.

  • Luis Daniel

Very nice park to take a bike ride or just do a late night picnic. They also have Houston's annual July 4th celebration and fireworks here. Lots of concerts as well. One of the main parks that makes up Buffalo Bayou Park and eventually leads to Memorial Park

  • kiran shetty

My favorite place in Houston after all the BBQ restaurants. Cool place i would call with many parks, walking-cycling trails right by these beautiful buildings in Downtown. Go lay in the grass, enjoy the sun whenever you can. Finding parking might be tricky.

  • Liz Schatte

This is the perfect park for a cute picnic date!! My boyfriend and I went in early November and the weather was perfect. Also the whole grassy area was perfectly shaded by around 4 in the afternoon! The view was beautiful and the environment very relaxing!

  • Justin

A great park in the heart of downtown with multiple walking paths and spots to take photos. Due to the location in the city, parking can be difficult to find. Also dog friendly park, there were so many people enjoying the cool breeze of Houston evening.

  • Maximiliano Lpz

Eleanor Tinsley Park offers a serene escape from the city with its stunning sunset views, peaceful walks, and convenient amenities. It's the perfect place to unwind and reconnect with nature. Highly recommended for those seeking tranquility in Houston.

  • Vanessa Loera

One of my absolute favorite parks! I always enjoy the trails and the beautiful sceneries of the city of Houston! There’s always people around. If you go later in the evenings it’s always well lit up. I enjoy walking and riding my bike with the family.

  • RESTORE8ABLE

I Enjoyed My Experience. It Was My First Time Being There (I Was Grateful To Find Parking). I Went To Add My Lock To The Bridge. Then We Sat and People Watched For A While... It Was A Beautiful Day.
Dog-friendliness
Plenty Pups Running About

  • Jamilet J

Such a lovely park, that the somewhat limited amount of parking spots will all be taken during popular times. Would be nice of BBP to fix that. Otherwise, it's my favorite park to run at. You never know where the bayou trails will lead you to.

  • Ben Burgess

I visited this park during my recent trip to Houston and spent about an hour there. The park offers views of the Buffalo Bayou and the downtown Houston skyline, which was a great way to take in the city's sights. I enjoyed strolling along

  • Felipe Guillén

This is my go to park for tranquil walks or intense runs. There's always something new to explore. Jogging here is great because there are so many trails and constant elevation changes. I bring my dog for walks too, and he loves it.

  • Jon Albert

Great park that offers amazing views of the Houston skyline and anything else you want to do such as biking, jogging, canoe along the bayou, have a dog there's a separate dog park for large or small dogs & a man made dog pool & bathing

  • Kari Rote

We had a great time exploring Eleanor Tinsley while the skateboarder in our family spent time shredding at the skatepark. Make sure your kiddos are bike-aware and know how to scoot to the side. This was an issue with a crew of our size.

  • Valentin Alanis Jr

This park has unparalleled views of downtown and along with Buffalo Bayou Park, offer incredible bike and hike trails with connectivity to White Oak Trail. This is one of Houston’s gems to get your walk on and see Houston on the move.

  • Tania Rdgz Nguyen

A great place to enjoy the Houston skyline, have a picnic, take a walk, jog, bike or create your own workout. It’s like our own Central Park. Weather you want to go in the morning or in the evening there is plenty to do and discover.

Clean. Expanse. Well maintained. And beautiful views of downtown. We parked on the parking areas for $1 for three hours and took the stroller down the trail to have a picnic. My LO had a great time running on the grassy hills.

  • htx herbivore

Came here with my friends to watch the sunrise. Unfortunately, the buildings were blocking the view a bit, but at least we had a great view of the skyline. The lawn was well-kept, and it’s the perfect spot to have a picnic.

  • Mike Hutchinson

Cool place but the ticketing process is confusing. Thought I bought tickets for a lighted tour but got tickets for a historical tour which was cool but it would have been cooler if they would have turned the cool lights on.

  • Kevin Ma (Myles)

This park has an amazing trail, great for any physical activity that requires movement. We saw lots of scooters and bikes that could be rented and very detailed maps of the entire length of the park. Watch for gators!
