Hello, I want to share both a significant problem we experienced but also a successful resolution. After a problem-free year being customers with Extra Space Storage, my husband and I received a notice stating that our fees were rising by over $100 dollars. This would take effect in 30 days at our next billing cycle. Shocked, I called and spoke to a very considerate staff member who stated that such increases were normal but that she would discuss it with her management and I would receive a call back within 24-48 hours. I did not receive any call back. A week later I went personally to the U-Street and 14th location to perform some storage tasks with my husband and we discussed it directly with the staff. Carl and Renae could not have been nicer. Management was again unavailable but Carl was sympathetic and quickly made adjustments so our bill would only be ~$25 more a month, not $106.94 more! I am writing this so that others can understand what we went through. We are recently married and saving for a home. $106 more a month is a significant significant increase and catches customers like ourselves completely off-guard and unprepared. We place our faith as customers that some increases are normal but not that we will be taken advantage of in this manner. It violates Extra Space's corporate values of care and trust and an implicit expectation to do right by their customers. Thankfully, Carl and Renae restored that faith but it is important for seniors to know this was a very uncomfortable experience. This should not have happened. Thank you Carl and Renae for helping us recover from this scare!

I have had a storage unit at this location since the start of the pandemic. Due to life “lifeing” I have needed my storage unit longer than I initially thought I would. However , I can honestly say the property manager Ms. Tiffany has helped me maintain my account in good standing in several ways during months when my budget has gotten tighter. She has allowed me to come in and break my payments up into weekly deposits. She has adjusted my due date before to fit around my pay schedule. Also , there are the reminder calls I have received well before my due date , during weeks when I have not come in to make my normal partial payments deposits. All of this has been very helpful to me in maintaining my unit for these past couple years. If you are looking for a storage location that’s metro accessible , with great management and staff , that has consistent personable customer service , I would recommend making a reservation and renting at this Extra Space Storage location.

The staff at this location are so wonderful! This is my second consecutive year renting from Extra Space at the U Street location. Customer service is important to me, and Renae is absolutely amazing. Her customer service is out of this world. Moving a college student's belongings into storage while arriving from another state can be stressful. Renae was so patient and kind. She made the process of getting the correct size unit so smooth and easy. By the time our conversation ended, I felt like I was a part of Renae's family. You can't go wrong with the staff at this location. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Renae, Tiffany, and the rest of the staff for a wonderful experience this year...and even last year!! If I could give additional stars, I would. So thank you again for everything!!!

THE BEST customer service. Renae took excellent care of me and my belongings. My bill was inadvertently not paid and their staff reached out so I wouldn’t have any - very bad - unintended consequences. I am so thankful I’ve trusted them with my goods. Renae is a gem and their staff is top notch. EDIT to update: While the staff is great, the company/corporate are TERRIBLE. Their policies are egregious and fees should be criminal. While it is in no way the staff's fault, I would not have place my belongings here if I knew some things beforehand (i.e. once a year they have the ability to to DOUBLE your bill - without notice - because it's their "policy", mine went from $135 to $273 while it was on autopay.) Look elsewhere.

Really loved working with the team here. I recently reserved a unit online a few days in advance, but for some reason the site wouldn’t let me pay right away no matter what card I tried. When I called the office later, Tiffany bent over backward to get me moved in on time to the unit I wanted — while still honoring the rate I’d been quoted originally, even though it had since changed. She even threw in a free lock to make up for the hassle. I moved in Saturday and the unit was clean, spacious, a good temp, and overall made me feel great about storing here. Can’t recommend enough!

I used this storage facility for 3 years, and was overall very pleased with the experience. It was incredibly convenient to downtown DC, my unit felt safe and protected, I was able to get in and out with ease, and the staff were very friendly. The rates did go up over time, but they were very communicative about it, so I knew what was coming. I moved out this week, just as my next payment was due, and they noticed and reversed the next month’s charges without me even having to ask. Thank you, Tiffany, and everyone at Extra Space Storage.

I have to shout out the customer service of Assistant Store Manager Daniel Qays! My partner and I were moving into a larger storage unit, and he was so helpful. Not only did he answer our questions about unit sizes and cost, but he accompanied us to see the spaces and helped us choose the best unit for our current needs. He was DELIGHTFUL. Five stars, two thumbs, would totally recommend Extra Space Storage on U Street. Thank you so much, Daniel!

We rented out our unit for a month and couldn’t be happier with our choice. Staff is super friendly and helpful, especially Daniel. He helped us with getting the appropriate moving equipment, backing up our moving truck, and getting an extra dolly for us when he didn’t have to! We appreciate the extra support and effort from the employees at this location and would strongly recommend them for any excess storage needs.

Renae was great! She helped me with securing my unit, touring the storage space and additional items I needed to purchase in the office. Very quick and efficient process. Office staff Including Tiffany, Carl, and Melody were great and helpful when I came into the office as well. Very inviting and attentive to make sure I had the assistance I needed. Would definitely recommend storing at the U street location.

I had an exceptionally pleasant experience working with my customer service representative, Renee. She was friendly, professional, and very helpful in explaining my different options. We were having some issues getting the text or email confirmation with details. When Tiffany called to welcome us we explained and she was extremely helpful! She made sure we received the text with details and when we arrived showed us the unit and made sure it was clean and ready. I came into Extra Space about a week ago to purchases boxes. The front desk representative Raven was nice and polite. I informed her that I was moving out of a 3 bedroom home. If you read the negative reviews like you should first, you're smart. Avoid this company in general. Theyll upcharge rates on you without warning. Storage rate Went up $100 with no email, call or written notice as soon as December hit. They dont expect you to move out during holiday season/winter season so they upcharge to rip off paying customers. Go somewhere else.

Raven’s exceptional customer service made my first experience at an Extra Space Storage location very pleasant and welcoming. She took her time to show me the options I had for storage units and answered all the questions I had. Raven was very kind to explain the month to month contract and even made time to listen to a crazy life story. She made my day even better!!

My experience so far with Extra Space Storage is great! They were very courteous and helpful when I called for enquiry and they followed up till I came to book! I rented a storage unit from this place to store some books for my work, and they’ve been great to work with. It was easy to book the unit to start, and the staff - especially Tiffany - were really helpful and kind whenever I had questions or concerns. Will definitely use this location again the next time I have the need to store stuff!

I was in a crunch and needed a place to store some clothes, shoes and other personal items. Extra storage was just right for me. Friendly staff and a perfect location. Great hours since I get off work later in the evening, could go there right after work. Definitely would recommend you guys or use again if I need to store anything.

She provided excellent information on the options and prices available and tool less than 10 minutes to complete the administrative processes. Tiffane is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We found easy space storage shortly after moving to DC. It is extremely convenient and clean. The staff have been exceptionally helpful with any issues, particularly Tiffane and Raven. They helped us navigate the rates and units. We are really happy with our experiences here!

This place is a total scam. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! We signed a contract to pay $88 a month, and within two months they sent us a notice saying it was going up to $150. The joke is that our unit is tiny and doesn’t even have a light in it! They are liars, find somewhere else!
