Subject: Cianna is a great asset to this company! The young lady, Cianna, at this facility is doing a phenomenal job. An excellent communicator, extremely helpful, cares for the customers and mostly manages this large facility single handedly. Without the help of security, maintenance or cleaners: she still manages to do a great service by having the place cleaned, units available and customers assisted all while dealing with ongoing obstacles of people attempting to hang out on the premises etc. We observed as she nicely took care of a gentleman who needed his unit and code arranged multiple times; Cianna, expressed generosity and lots of patience. There have been times where people are loud, attempt to loiter on the property and she has done immaculate work ensuring that operations are running as smooth as they possibly can. Ultimately, she’s very effective and handles everything professionally and swiftly. We believe she should be promoted and given a corporate role where she can really thrive as she is the perfect ambassador for this organization.

Storing my things with Extra Storage was the perfect solution to my needs! The facility itself was super clean, nicely built and secure. My unit was also very clean with a nice high ceiling - it even had its own automatic light inside and there was a welcome pamphlet with specific details of my unit. Details like this demonstrates their dedication toward customers their facility and services. Speaking of customer service, one of the managers Tonie was fantastic. I came by the facility to tour a few units. He welcomed me with energy and warmth and showed me around. He also helped me with the lease process, answering my questions, and even helped my on move-in day. On my move-in day, he saw me struggle with the key pad and came over to help me - no judgement - just support. Overall, I appreciated how he remembered me whenever I called and showed up at the facility and always treated me with respect and care. Tonie is a great manager; it's clear that he cares about his clients and their experience. Thank you Tonie and Extra Storage!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Over the last 10 years, I've rented storage units at facilities around the city (including the old Capital Self Storage) and this is, by far, the worst facility and customer service I've ever experienced. When it was Extra Space, the facility was kept clean, access was limited, and the on-site staff were helpful. Since Life Storage has taken over, it's fallen apart. The building is not cleaned, elevators have been broken with no notification to tenants, carts are kept behind locked doors and require an ID to use, and for a number of weeks the hours were limited and you would have to take off time from work to actually access your unit. The staff is unhelpful, and often rude. How did they decide to address these issues, you ask? They raised prices, of course! Thanks to the limited access and locked-up carts, I've been unable to move out of my unit, costing me money, patience, and sanity. Reaching out to the customer service lines has gone unanswered. Don't walk, RUN away from this place.

A few other reviewers have mentioned this, and it's important to note: the positive reviews you see are from when this place was owned by Extra Space Storage (which was wonderful). As soon as it transferred hands to Life Storage everything went downhill. The facility used to be extremely clean--now there are bugs, dirt, and trash around and in building. When we went a few weeks ago someone was seemingly LIVING there. We interrupted him talking to himself and food garbage was strewn around his unit. Lastly, we just received a notification that they are limiting their access hours to 9:30-6 every day! (Used to be 24/7.) This severely limits when customers can access their property and will be a massive headache for all those trying to move things in and out. There's already an issue with lack of carts and loading dock access; this will only exacerbate the problems we have encountered. DO NOT USE LIFE STORAGE. There are many others places in the area, and we'll be joining you at one of its nearby competitors.

I would have given Extra Storage Space 5 Stars for facility upkeep and even my customer service today but I can't. I rated it this low because they raised the rent on my unit $80 when I was only paying about $130 with taxes (which is about a 65% increase off my total monthly charges; I wasn't informed of the charges and only knew of it when I looked at my bill; was informed by corporate of a refund for the miscommunication (never received it); and when I cancelled it in person the guy helping me was ridiculously rude and didn't care anything about why I was canceling it (poor customer service). The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the individual that helped me today with closing my account exhibited great customer service. I would say don't do if you don't have too. They'll raise your rent too. Also I was only there from May to August when they made the increase and had my billing on autopsy. Talk about a poor business model but hey I guess that's why their stocks are on a steady decline.

This is an amazing storage facility and I highly recommend this location 2000 Bladensburg NE. Washington DC, 20018. It is conveniently located in DC very close to New York Ave. The staff Lee (Store Manager) and Tone (Assistant) was just amazing with knowledge, customer service and assistance. These two gave me smiles and genuine help with my questions or concerns. Lee is so helpful to keep you highly informed on the property. The loading dock door was hit by mistake and Lee had the problem fixed within a couple days. (Quick service time remedy a situation is impressive). The storage facility was always clean and felt very secured. I truly felt like a guest each time rather than a customer. During my move, Lee was very personable and made me feel appreciated for renting at their facility. Thanks for the great experience and hope everyone get an opportunity to meet such as awesome duo and enjoy their lease experience.

The gentleman that helped me was extremely nice and friendly, great service recovery from the person who initially interacted with me when I arrived. Unfortunately, the entranceway to the unit is very discouraging. The door is off of a sidewalk with a small curb. It’s extremely difficult to get your flatbed cart in without a second person to hold the door and navigate the other end of the cart. Even with a second person holding the door, you’ll still have difficulty getting the cart through the door because if you don’t want your cart to go over the curb (and result in your things sliding off ) you’ll have to come in the doorway at an angle due to the sidewalk not being wide enough. If the sidewalk was a little bit wider you would be able to get your cart in by pushing/pulling it straight in instead of at an angle. Next time, I’ll know to bring a second person.

Extra Space Storage. This location is great. Kevin and Colby provided excellent customer service. They went above and beyond to assist me with transferring to a larger unit. Professional and courteous. The location is clean and secure. Updated 1/24/2023 Life Storage is the new owner of this facility. Kevin and Colby are gone and are truly missed. They worked for the previous owner Extra Space Storage. Since the change in ownership, this location has declined significantly. It’s filthy. Absolutely disgusting. The new customer service representatives do not provide the same level of service as Kevin or Colby. Work ethic is not the same. If I could remove my belongings today without causing undue stress to my family, I would. I do not recommend this location.

Life storage advertised a 5x5x8 unit for $27/month with 1 month free. When I got there, they said that there was a mistake in their advertisement and the unit actually had a 4 foot ceiling. This couldn't store my stuff, which forced me to buy a different unit for over $100/month. They weren't even willing to accommodate their mistake by keeping the free month offer, which they removed. It's a pretty rude practice to lure customers in with the promise of below-market rates and then remove that offer, forcing them to scramble for a last-minute alternative or pay high rates with your company. They had about a month to tell me that the ad was incorrect but did not do so and this last-minute update really hurt my plans

As an update, another 5 Star review: following an effective corporate transfer, I commend the excellent attention and overall service provided by both Renea and Michael, same facility (2000 Bladensburg Rd., W-DC). With clear & pertinent communication, I was enabled a swift transfer from 2 units to one larger one, all done electronically for an efficient on-site moving. Kudos to the team work & thank you Life Storage. ***** Having been with Extra Space Storage for close to 5 years, always excellent service by locations' staff & today by customer service representative, Ariana, calling to alert me of a payment issue. Thank you !!

We used Extra Space Storage for two months while my daughter was on her university summer break. We live 8 hours away from her college so it’s challenge lugging her belongings back and forth year after year. The young lady who set us up with our storage unit, and the gentleman (Colby) who helped us to vacate the premises at the end of our lease were both pleasant, helpful and overall fantastic! This was our first time using storage services, but it may not be our last. Thank you Extra Space Storage for making it easy for us while we moved our daughter off campus in June and back on campus again in August.

1. I get the sense that they're doing a lot right, but I was concerned that the gate was wide open the whole time I was there. I saw a guy walk onto the parking lot and walk away with a cart! 2. I completed the entire rental online, and I appreciated that I never had to visit the office. It was very convenient because I was concerned I couldn't get there by 6 pm. 3. You should tell people that the lockers are in the rafters and require a ladder. It's only practical for smaller or lighter weight items. How could somebody possibly get a loveseat or big screen TV up there, for example.

Initially, I had this place listed as 5 stars because the facility is maintained extremely well and the customer service is great. However, after a year of storage, they more than doubled my rent and would not negotiate even though they are advertising rates for nearly the same price as what we had originally been paying. In sum, they are great at short term rentals, but if you are looking for a long term storage solution, know that they will likely double your rent once you move in…. I will now be spending a weekend moving my stuff to a new storage unit in the next couple of weeks.

Erika was super helpful! I hadn't called to schedule my move-out date (instead I did it online - tip: call and schedule it) and so I ended up getting charged unnecessarily for another month. She ended up reversing that charge and just pro-rating my charges for the few days over the end of the month that I needed the unit. That saved me almost $200! She didn't have to do that, but did that because she's very professional and seems to care about keeping clients. I'd definitely use their storage units again if I didn't just move out of the area!

Without corporate approval... This facility changed the access to the unit hours from 6am-10pm to 9:30am-6:00pm. Despite having confirmed with Google the original hours. They are allowing new clients to sign up without telling them the hours have changed. The facility is the worst in DC. The positive reviews are from Extra space. One of the tenants is doing a documentary on how one facility can destroy a chain and is now incorporating Bladensburg Life Storage as an example in real time.

Recently, this Life Storage location was purchased by Extra Space Storage. Before, I stood outside the office or waited on hold for over 20 minutes waiting for an employee. They’d take personal calls all the time. Sometimes it would be just plain hard to locate an employee at all. It was rough. BUT these past few weeks, I have had the best experience. The new employees try to make the experience smooth and easy, even during hiccups in the process. Definitely would recommend now!

Yuri with Extra Space Storage was fantastic. He was knowledgable, kind, patient, and very helpful. We have a complicated move and he helped me work through several concerning pieces of the move. He was not a pushy salesman but instead provided me the information on what the facility could provide and how they could help. He was engaging and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend working with Yuri at Extra Space Storage for your moving and storage needs.

The empowered, all-lady management crew here deserves their flowers. They are spearheading an intricate merger while striving to always put safety first. I have high standards and they've met last every one. Cionna, Juanita and Shantell have made themselves available even after-hours to make sure my quirky questions were answered. Today was a horrible Friday to say the least but when I tell you Yuri, the Assistant Store Manager at the store #7134 in DC made my day but making the process easy and it calmed my nerves! He was professional, communicated effectively and help me find the best option for my storage needs. I had the best experience from beginning to end. Called on the phone to inquire and the rep found me a bin, reserved, and sent details to my phone immediately. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the Manager, Lee. Lee took care of my check in and made it a very smooth and fast process. Lee greets me with a smile every time I visit. Facility is always clean and they are very professional. I love it!

This is an amazing place to store your possessions. The customer service is impeccable and so personable. The manager Lee was so helpful and had a warm personality, as well as the assistant manager Dedrica. I highly recommend this place to make sure your items are safe and secure. Wow ohhh Wow. Best service ever. I started with Store Manager Crystalle she was great and gave me all the info I needed. After coming in Manager Yuri was so helpful showed my the space and rented to me. Days later Manager Erika helped me even more. Very greatful. Best team they work well together and are very knowledgeable. IF YOU NEED STORAGE COME TO THE STORE FOR GREAT SERVICE.

As the end of the semester ended, my daughter made a reservation for a storage unit. The facility was approximately 10 minutes from campus. The unit was accommodating and convenient. I found Kevin, the store manager, and Victor, the assistant store manager to be extremely helpful. I would highly recommend Extra Storage Space and I’ll definitely be back in the spring.

The customer service representatives were friendly and eager to help. They clearly communicated and made sure I was satisfied at the end of my reservation. I highly recommend this self storage space because it’s hard to find good customer service these days. It also was very clean. Each time I called Yuri was the same. Patient, friendly and accommodating.

Many of these reviews that are over a couple months old are for when this location was extra space storage. Since then it has become Life Storage. Since then, the facility has been filthy with a lot of trash. Lot gate and garage entry are often left open. A significant decline in quality since changing ownership. Last week when I came to Life Storage I interacted with Mike. Mike was extremely helpful in assisting me with my storage unit. First I want to state the manager here is great Erika, she listened to my concerns and suggestions allowing me to be heard. I have been storing for years with extra space storage and feel i am not appreciated. I get rate increases but nothing for being a loyal customer who pays on time like a month free on the anniversary.

Today I moved out and Michael was a lot of help. I lost my key and Micheal was determined to get my lock off for me. I swear he drilled for 30 mins and he did it with a smile. I could clearly see he was tired and probably frustrated but he didn’t let that dampen his mood and continued to offer great customer service.
