So glad to have finally moved out. Let me start with the good things though... Place seems very clean and renewed. The access system seems to work well too and there's parking inside making a city location very convenient. Prices weren't too crazy when I signed up a few months ago, but it seems summer pricing is at least a third or more higher now. Now for the bad and really the only reason for docking two stars and reason for my move out, because honestly I could've still used the unit despite my move. Carla, one of the employees drove me out with her attitude. She acts like the place is a military base and becomes so rude once you've signed up (happy friendly sales face though when you move in). She would constantly hover over me during my move in barking commands at me. Don't do this, don't do that. You need to be out of here in ten minutes. You have two minutes and now the gate probably won't open for you. You're going to get a letter from corporate (all for leaving a few minutes late, which was my fault yes, but c'mon where's being nice and having good customer respect). I visited again numerous times and would do everything I knew to be in compliance with her rule book. A glass dropped out of my unit and shattered. I could've just left it, but no, I cleaned it up as I should. I saw a trash can on the first level so I dropped it in there. There comes Carla from behind the closed door, yelling at me that it's not a trash can. I was confused, but then asked what I should've done with the glass. She then changed gears to tell me it's not for customer trash specifically, so maybe broken glass I'm just supposed to leave on the ground because I'm not going to put it loose in my car? Either way, the interaction was not pleasant, especially when she decided to come back after me to submit a report on my trash disposal to corporate. I've never seen anyone so adamant to tarnish a customer. I honestly then grew a fear of ever returning because I didn't want to be "written up" with corporate for rules I wasn't even aware of. One last example of where this came up again was move out day with my movers. When I moved in, I was told to park on the street to load in and to load in across the sidewalk... To hold the gate open with a box or blanket to block the sensor. But move out day, when I did this, suddenly that's no longer allowed and that I should use the loading doors... Which were broken for quite some time. Just tell me what to do right before, rather than yelling at me everytime I'm there. So many of the interactions were conflicting information from the last visits. So I couldn't wait to move out. And normally I hold my unit for bit after a move while I get situated. Not this time. I couldn't wait to remove everything I had and that's just what I did. When I came back for the inspection, Donna was the one who helped me. She was so pleasant and easy to work with. No hassle, no complaints, and a nice welcome to come back again. But sadly I won't due to the experience I had. It's a shame because the place is actually pretty nice as I mentioned earlier. Hoping Carla can learn better customer service skills. I am also docking one additional star for their hours. It makes it hard to access other than a weekend since it's regular work hours. My past units were open until 9pm.

Apart from the facility being exceptionally clean, well organized and accessible, it truly is because of one of the employees, Donna, that this is a top notch operation! as you can see by previous reviews about Donna, she is what makes this place run beyond smoothly. Her professionalize, knowledge, skill and above all attitude, is what makes her so exceptional. She should be recognized by her employers and rewarded as such for you can't pay to have employees respond to customer demands/expectations in the way Donna does! As usual with move outs, there is always a hitch or something that does not go according to plan. Donna was there to problem solve, to make accommodations and to help us move out in an orderly way. I was particularly impressed because a move out means a customer is leaving (in this case, moving across country). It means Donna would not have to see/deal with them again. And yet, she was every bit as courteous and helpful as the day we moved in! She understands that a brand name is only as good as their employees. And her personal work ethic ensures that this property is well maintained, clean, organized and serviced by someone who is willing and able to help! Thank you Donna, can't say enough about you and the property you keep so well!

Thanks Donna for all your help! She gave me a tour to see the space and how to utilize every inch before I decided on which size would fit my stuff. I love that it's temperature controlled and accessible by metro if I need something quick and not driving that day. This is my second time using Public Storage and I have always had great customer service with the staff. Updating my review: They increased the rent on the storage space without sending an email, then said, that I had to pay the new charge on that same day, then gave me the notice on that day that the rent will be going up in three months and I guess that was my official notice that the rent will be going up. She fake tried to give me a discount on the difference in the old and new rental charge, but a few days later I got an email saying that I didn't pay and won't have access to my unit, ended up still having to pay the difference anyway. I feel like they're helpful and nice to get you through the door. The storage unit is clean and the property is well maintained other than the mosquitos in summer, don't go without insect repellent.

Their motto is, “We treat YOUR stuff like OUR stuff!”, which is honestly pretty accurate in that they don’t really care if you have access to your things or not. They close at 6pm on weekdays, so prepare in advance to take a day off of work to access your unit during the week as you can not be there after 5:59pm. Your other option is to use one of your weekend days, but beware they close at 5pm on weekends and will aggressively rush you out of the building at 4:59pm. Additionally, they also sometimes close at random hours throughout the day, only to reopen and a random time later in the day, or sometimes not at all. Staff are nice enough I guess, but let’s be honest, there isn’t usually much staff interaction at a storage facility. All that said, if you don’t mind your stuff literally being treated like not your stuff anymore not a bad storage place. I guess it works for those that almost never need access.

Very mean and rude people. We moved up our move in date by 1 day and we called this location about it. We said that we will be by around 10am-11am. We showed up at 10:45am and they were gone. No one was there, it was completely dark. We must have called them 20 different times, leaving multiple voicemails. We called Headquarters and they were absolutely horrible. They couldn't help us and told us to call the other locations nearby and they all didn't answer the phone for help. We just needed the access code but they all wouldn't give it to us. They were horrible horrible people to talk to on the phone. We wasted about 2 hours sitting there talking to customer service who did absolutely nothing. We left around 12:30 and went to the uhaul self-storage right across the street. Do not use public storage, it's not worth the money and the stress! They do not care about you or your items.

I just wanted to give a sincere shout out to the front desk staff, Donna & Carla at my public storage facility. It is such a blessing to have such customer support and professionalism especially during these trying times in our Nation during this pandemic. These two ladies went above and beyond the call of duty not only did they reach out to me with the kindest and warmest messages regarding my account and they made sure I was assisted to make sure I was ok. On the day of my vacate after several years here they were a breeze to work with and made it the most pleasant , professional and efficient check out of my unit. I will never forget the kindness and assistance I received from this facility because of these two employees, they made me believe in top notch customer service again!!!!!! From the moment I spoke with Lakita over the phone I knew I was choosing this place. I arrived in the lobby, after having a goofy moment with the door, to two of the most beautiful smiles I had EVER seen… I was definitely in the right place.…All of my concerns were covered without me having to come up with one question (wow right?). I mean they took REALLY good care of me!!!. I am happy to be in such great hands. I will definitely recommend Public Storage to my friends and family. I love Public Storage, their stick with me for life!!!

These people are the best. I rented a 5x5 unit and I called ahead where they kindly shared all the details with me and helped me understand that the 5x5 was challenging for how much I was looking to store. They quickly helped me convert my unit to a 10x5 and refunded me entirely for the 5x5 because I hadn't moved in yet (its understandable they wouldn't be able to do that had I moved in). The day I moved my stuff in, the onsite worker was extremely kind and helpful and patiently answered all my questions. The security system is thorough. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for storage in the DC area.

I had a great experience at the SE Capitol Public Storage. I was helped by Donna who went above and beyond what would be expected from a good employee. Donna was so cheerful and went above and beyond in assisting me over a three day period. I would not have had a successful move-out with out her. Other staff there were also friendly and helpful, but Donna was my primary contact. This was the best experience that I have ever had with a public storage site. I used the site for over a year and it was also clean and well maintained with great security. I highly recommend this location.

I needed a self-storage unit near my apartment in DC. I looked online and found a Public Storage facility right around the corner. Very convenient so that was draw number one. But then I read the online reviews, and heard a lot about the property manager Donna. Rave reviews. That sold me, convenient+friendly works for me. Today I went to the facility for the first time and I met Donna. Boy were those reviews accurate. She had me up and running in no time, extremely friendly and helpful. Just as advertised. Ain't it great when it all works according to plan?

Phenomenal customer service! Worked with Donna at the Public storage (SE DC) and man was she amazing!! We had a lot of things come up that were difficult and caused us to need to change the move in date last minute, change unit size last minute and change the card on file. Donna never got frustrated with us and was extremely focused on making things as simple and convenient for us as possible. I will literally go out of my way to use public storage from here on out because my experience has been so top notch!! Give that woman a raise!!! Thank you Donna!

Used this facility for about two years and never had any issues. Front desk was always extremely helpful and made the process very easy. Shout out to Carla and Donna for being extremely helpful while I was in the process of moving out of the unit. Carla helped me get a new lock when I lost my old key while I was deployed. And Donna opened the facility up for me early, so I could load a U-Haul and she helped me out with my last monthly payment for the unit. Both of these employees were a pleasure to work with and deserve raises immediately.

My experience with the young ladies at this location have been beyond my wildest dreams. Tiara was just awesome with the customer service, she delivered. She went above and beyond her duties with me and my help. I want to thank her from the bottom of my ❤️. God Bless her for doing such an outstanding job. Not sure of her last name don't have her card with me at this time. Everyone that I have come across from my experience treated me very well. Carla and Donna also. Thank you all so much. Had the best experience. Everyone was very helpful. I brought my kids in with me and was a bit overwhelmed but the staff there were very patient and kind. It's not too often you find People who work like they love their job but the ladies there did. One staff member in particular stood out to me, I believe her name was Natasha. Natasha was kind of enough to explain everything to me and had a bright smile and positive attitude.Thank you to everyone who assisted me and made storing my belongings one less thing to worry about.

Ashley and Smiley was the best today they helped me choose the right size space as well informed me about the great promotions running today. Ashley walked me through every merchandise piece in store to protect my belongings and the facility is remarkable very clean and up to standard. I was just on the property to receive a quote but the way I received services from both young ladies I will definitely be back to use this facility to store my most prize possessions. 11/06/2021 - This morning I called the Public Storage on South Capitol and the first question I asked was about the weather. With no hesitation Donna and Carla answered my question and we all laughed. I proceeded to ask about the facility and all my questions was answered with no problem. The ladies at this facility are top quality on customer service. I will rent at this location due to the first 2 employees I encountered. Top Flight and keep up the good customer service skills ladies!

Downsizing is no fun no matter what anyone says. Donna and her co-workers at Public Storage on S Capitol were extraordinarily helpful and considerate from directions, to website services, 'misplaced codes.' Every time I checked in to pick up a few things, always professional and personable. I was concerned about storing so much artwork and furniture but after a year and the DC climate, (unit was climate controlled) all was well when we were able to reunite with our stuff. Thank you all.

Donna was extremely helpful with setting up my account and reserving the storage space I need. She patiently walked me through the process and even allowed me to see the storage space to ensure it would fit my needs. Then she also helped me determine what packing materials I would need for my household items, especially the fragile items. Donna was truly a professional in every way and helped to restore my faith in the public service provided by larger companies. Thank you Donna!

We had a great experience at this Public Storage location. Donna and Ashley attended to us. They were professional, attentive to our needs, friendly and great to work with. We had a number of questions and they were thoroughly familiar with PS procedures, and provided clear, immediate, and helpful responses. Our move in could not have gone more smoothly. Overall this PS location is clean and orderly thanks to the proactive and efficient management by Donna and Ashley.

I have not been completely thrilled with Public Storage, the hours of availability are somewhat difficult for moving. I have however been ecstatic with the customer service I have gotten at this location. I worked with La'Toya and Taryn and they have been absolutely amazing! They have gone above and beyond to make this process as smooth as possible. They even stayed a half an hour late for me one day to assist me. They have mastered the art of customer service!

I thought getting a storage unit was going to be a hassle but thank goodness that wasn't the case! I met with Taryn (property manager) who was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and gave me tons of options. I had a bad experience with another storage company in the past, but after coming here I have a sense of security knowing my possessions will be safe and free of damage. Once I finalize my moving plans, I will be sure to give them a call back to rent a unit.

Donna and Ashley were super helpful in assisting us with our storage needs. They were patient with all of our questions and took the time to show us multiple units so we could make our best choice. The facility is clean and easy to access. The parking inside makes the unloading process simple. They have carts and an elevator to access the different floors. Fans seem to keep temperatures reasonable. Overall, I'm happy with the choice to store here.

We’ve been with public storage since 2017 when we moved to Navy yard, and are only leaving because we’re leaving the country. The facilités here are super clean, and the staff very professional. We’ve never had an issue here, and always knew that our stuff was being kept safe in a temperature controlled space. The facilities manager, Ms. Donna is very knowledgeable and behind helpful. We highly recommend this storage unit.

A friend who passed recently has a unit here. As her executor I needed help and direction on how to access the unit. Donna was amazing. She helped me through the process and told me what needed to be done. Luckily I located the key (after Donna told me what to look for). She and her associate were so pleasant and knowledgeable. During a difficult time I really appreciated the kindness and understanding they showed.

I’ve been a customer for over a year and highly recommend this location. Huge shoutout to Carla who was extremely nice and helpful when I went in to transfer to a larger unit today. She was able to find me one on the same level at almost the same price. Super quick and easy, but she still had time to give me information and tips about the app and that will make gaining access even easier. Secure and clean as well.

EDIT! Donna is fantastic!!! The absolutely best customer service. If it wouldn't be for the constant rate increases by the company it would five plus stars! Wach out! They attract you by offering a competitive pricing and then DOUBLE the price with no notice. I learned of the price increase only from the credit card statement. Edit: The price keeps increasing. It almost tripled after a year.

My company has two storage units at this facility. Anytime I come into the facility the ladies in the office are always super nice and helpful. Especially Donna. I recently had a problem and she work to get everything cleared up in a timely manner and called me back once everything was approved. I have had several interactions with Donna and she always gives excellent customer service.

Donna is absolutely amazing! Her great customer service and communication made the moving process so smooth. the facility is top notch and always kept clean. I also really like the ease of the online reservation system, especially in the event that you need multiple storage units. Donna and her team are excellent! Long story short, I rented the unit in March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic and returned to PA. A day later, I was contacted because I did not secure my unit correctly. Luckily we handled the situation over the phone and all of my items were stored securely for the next 10 months. I would highly recommend this facility.

We needed a storage space for about 8 months, and this Public Storage unit was nearby and climate-controlled. We found the facility to be clean and secure. Donna provided incredible customer service as we set up, used, and shut down the space. We highly recommend the Public Storage at 1230 South Capitol St SE!

Donna made the process of selecting and renting my storage unit quick and easy. She answered my questions before I even thought of most of them. I'm kind of looking forward to freeing up all that extra space in my apt and I feel confident that my stuff will still be in good condition when I go back to get it.

It's a storage facility in the big city, with attendant drawbacks. But it was easily the best rate for the amount of space, and the customer service is uncommonly excellent. Any interaction at all with staff is friendly and valuable. Usually, that means working with Donna, but it is true of any of the staff.

I am very pleased with the positive changes that have taken place at the property. The restroom has improved tremendously. Miss Donna has a very pleasant personality and attitude. We’ve had a storage unit at this place for almost 4 years, and they have been great. Donna, at the front, is so incredibly friendly and helpful. The storage area is clean. The temperature is good and the set up is very convenient for parking, or bringing in a moving truck. Highly recommend.

Carla and Donna were expectional with us. Probably the best costumer service I ever had! They were really helpful both over the phone and on site. They took the time to explain all the agreement details and tour the facility. I definitely recommend this Public Storage location.

People are very friendly here it’s clean and secure. Very easy to navigate though not super easy to know where your locker is - half 300s are on the 3rd floor and half on the second. Also this place is definitely not temperature or humidity controlled if you care about that
