I can only say GREAT things about Groat Road Auto. I don't think you'll ever find a better automotive shop in the city. In the late 1990's, while still in high school, I got my first job (cashier/full serve gas attendant) at Groat Road Auto when it was still part of an Esso gas station. Working there for almost a year, I don't think I ever once saw an unhappy customer. In fact, I remember customers telling me that Don was the best mechanic in the city. Staff were treated extremely well and it was a great place to work. The fact that Don has had so many long term employees over the years is a testament to how well staff are treated. As a customer of Groat Road, you get that same great treatment and respect. On top of that, their prices are often 30% or more cheaper than dealership prices. I have taken my Toyota's here several times over the years and would easily recommend them to anyone over a dealership. You're paying less, and your having the work done by a journeyman mechanic, not a dealership "technician" (AKA a first year apprentice). They can even offer you a courtesy vehicle if needed for longer repairs. The service is great. The staff are honest and take pride in their work. The prices will save you a good chunk of money over dealerships. Highly recommend Groat Road Auto.

Wow. These guys are unbelievable, I've never had a better experience at an auto shop - great prices, fair and honest, and you're walked through and explained the whole process with diagrams beforehand. Then when everything is dismantled they take you into the shop and show you right there everything wrong and what they're going to do to fix it. The walls are plastered with certifications, they tell you the exact total cost and length of repairs beforehand, and they even had a full snack bar of crackers, veggies, meats, coffee and soda that you're encouraged to help yourself to - the kind lady at the desk even warmed me up some homemade food that she had made (delicious) and she has an adorable puppy that wanders around! They somehow order and receive parts pretty well immediately and get right to work, and while other places had week-long waits or worse for appointments I was able to see them the next day, have my issue looked at, diagnosed, parts delivered, issue handled, in and out. Huge (and current) magazine selection, couch seating in the waiting room and recommendations for all coffee shops and eateries nearby, then they even checked and topped off my oil. Don't ever go anywhere else!

Several years ago a coworker recommended that I take my vehicle to Groat Road Auto Service. I had a Honda Accord that was close to 20 years old at the time, and the work needed was very expensive according other quotes I'd gotten. So I tried Groat Road Auto, the cost was more reasonable, and the work was done quickly. Over the years I have found them to be trustworthy, sensibly priced, and they provide stellar customer service. They go out of their way to help, they don't do work that doesn't need to be done, and will advise if some repairs or services can wait for awhile, so you aren't hit with an enormous bill all at once. Don and the crew kept my old Honda running smoothly for a few more years, and he was honest about it being time to let her go peacefully. Over the last few years I've taken my new-to-me car to Groat Road Auto, and have had the same excellent service. I highly recommend them.

Disappointing to say the least. Came here to get a general check up done, was told there was a turbo leak. During the phone call Don was extremely gruff/rude and told me the repair would cost 2-3k but that he was unable to get me a proper quote due to "systems malfunctioning" and how annoyed he was with the situation (extremely unprofessional and weird conversation). I waited two weeks, never received a quote, and then took it to another mechanic who advised there was nothing wrong except a minor breaks repair. Surprised, I took the car to another mechanic who told me the same thing and concluded that Don had given me a false assessment and attempted to charge me 2-3k for an unnecessary service. I'm disappointed and upset at my experience with Groat Road. If you are someone with less/little experience with auto repair I would avoid this shop.

The staff at Groat Auto are extremely kind, knowlegeble and ever so helpful! The mechanics perform excellent work and prices are very reasonable. The staff at Groat were instrumental in navigating us through a problematic purchase of a used car. It needed substantial work, even though it passed two inspection reports. They saved us thousands of dollars in repair costs. They took the time to take pictures to help explain everything that needed to be repaired/replaced and due to their wise advice, all at the dealership's cost. I had an inspection done on my vehicle here recently. The inspection was done, and follow up work booked the following week. During the follow up appointment the mechanic called to say my oil was very dirty and needed to be changed. I asked why my oil hadn't been checked during the inspection I paid for the previous week. They said the mechanic must have missed checking my oil during the inspection. That's a pretty basic check. If they aren't checking my oil during an inspection...what are they checking? Also, they changed my oil filter without asking and despite the fact that it had just been changed 3 weeks prior ...and of course charged me for it.

I’ve had nothing but excellent and friendly service everytime I bring my car for maintenance at Groat Road! Whether it’s an oil change or simply to go over concerns I have, I know my car is in good hands. As someone who is still new to learning the ins and outs of a car, it can be nerve-wracking and intimidating to find help when your car is acting up. But at Groat Road, they’re honest and very effective at communicating their expertise. Groat Road Auto has always done an excellent job on maintaining my vehicles in a safe condition over many years. Janet, upfront, has a big smile and is very helpful in getting you on your way. Don has frequently given me useful advice in a number of situations of necessary repair and in upcoming maintenance that will be needed. Never have I been surprised with a big expense, not anticipated, without Don having spoken to me first. Service is timely. Today I had new tires installed on my Equinox, which Don and his crew (Mark, Matt and others), squeezed in before our first big snow of the season Thanks so much.

My husband and I have been patronizing Groat Road Service for about 30 years and have recommended them to all our friends as well. The service is excellent: very professional, friendly, timely, and thorough. We go to them for everything from routine maintenance and tire changes or tire or battery replacements to major repairs. They are very honest, telling is when a repair is or is not needed, or when a car is better off being replaced. We trust them implicitly in both their pricing and their advice. You will not find more skilled or reliable mechanics. Groat Road Service has our unequivocal recommendation.

Had a transmission leak on my daughters car and Don showed me the leak and explained how it was a weakness in those cars. Don and his technician even had a superior repair part, better than the original to permanently fix and repair the problem. My daughter had even been complaining about the car pulling to the left which I did not mention to Don because I was so concerned about the transmission leak. Don called me to tell me I had a steering issue and repaired that to. This was all done in a timely matter and at a lot less than I was expecting. Very knowledgeable and professional, a shop you can trust.

The mechanics are very knowledgeable and take the time to talk to you before and after the work is done. I had a recurring issue with my vehicle that other large garages had no idea how to deal with and Mark was able to identify it right away. It was such a relief! Not impressed at all with this place, brought the car in for the lower control arms and in pretty sure they broke something. Still waiting on them to call back with the part they ordered to fix the bearings that were fine when we dropped it off, was implied by someone there that the technician screwed something up. The car sounds terrible now idles loudly. Will be going for a second opinion. Would never use this place again or recommend to anyone.

I always bring my 2004 Jeep Liberty here to get serviced! They do the best work at the best price in Edmonton. Whenever I compare quotes they’re always the lowest, fastest, and my car leaves in much better condition than it arrived. They’ve replaced my water pump, valve cover gaskets, crankshaft seal, and my power steering hose. Along with some other random repairs. I love theses guys and highly recommended their service :)

We recently took our company service van in for repairs (Trifecta Electrical Solutions Inc.) It needed quite a bit of attention and Mark and his team were there to walk us through all of the repairs and were very fair on pricing. They worked with us on a very tight timeline to get the van back on the road ASAP. We highly recommend his team and we will be returning for all future work on our vehicles.

I have complete piece of mind with this team taking care of my car. They have always been professional and very helpful. I never have to be worried they are going to sell me platinum spark plugs like another shop in Edmonton. If I don't need work, they tell me that and don't charge. They are kind and patient and explain in terms I can understand.

To make a long story short my alternator died on me. So i brought it to Don who did a great job on the repair. The cost was some what uncomfortable but when it comes to quality and peace of mind that’s something you can’t put a price on. I will definitely be returning to his shop for any other repairs or maintenance checks on my vehicle.

They got me in that day for a full service. I was called and updated with any added costs before they proceeded with anything. Unfortunately they couldn't help me with a specific Mercedes part (but he went above and beyond trying to find it). Overall, they are committed to quality work. They even washed my car.
