The administration that structures budgeting for this hospital and for many more should hide their heads in the sand for their very poor decisions. My mother was told to go to Santa Cabrini after speaking to a nurse on 811. She spent 11 hours waiting. Her pain on a scale of 1 to 10 was 20 and it felt like Charlie Horse Pain. Imagine. During those 11 hours there were ambulances arriving every 30 min which makes me believe that the number of doctors on hand are inadequate as many people waiting in emergency got up and left by discouragement. Which brings me to another point. If the medical card was passed by the hospital for.a consultation which ever happened the the gov of Quebec is paying for services not rendered. Multiply all the times people leave before meeting a doc and what you have is money spent in the millions for services not rendered. Shame on the administrators who equip the ER departments with an inadequate number of staff and shame.on some of the staff who seem more focused on talking about their shopping the to attentively assess a patient during a tirage process. The idiocy of the experience does not stop there. I called from work around midnight to find out if my mother was still in the waiting room. " yes she is " did she see a doctor yet? " no she hasn't" Ok I am coming. So I drove from downtown but when I got there she was nowhere to be seen. After making a few calls the tirage nurse informed me that my mother left and that someone did call her around 11pm which was 30 minutes after she left and 1.5 hours before I called. Ironically the person who told me that she was still waiting did not have the "real time info" that she was gone which confirms that the way it is structured is a disgrace. Just because an ER has operated inefficiently does not give present admins the freedom to repeat the same .mistakes. in the end who suffers? The sick do. Hospital admins have forgotten that when they were hired they signed up to providing people with service...not excuses

I was scheduled for a day surgery at this hospital, so I came to the reviews here and saw that most people are giving bad reviews, so I was worried and this made me anxious. But here is my review for anyone who was in my place anxious and worried after reading others reviews. I have to say I was treated really well, my experience was really good and smooth. I was worried because I am not fluent in french, but all nurses were very helpful in speaking with me in English , even the ones who didn’t speak English were doing the effort to comfort me. The nurses were very caring, they explained to me everything. While I was in the day surgery room with other patients, the whole energy in the room was good. They care about hygiene and that patients are not left alone. When i had my surgery, I spoke with the anesthesiologist and he explained to me everything and took his time to understand my situation, and recommend whats best and comforted me. My surgeon also came to me before the surgery and explained to me the whole process and told me not to worry. I felt really good and relaxed. My surgery went well, woke up with team of nurses in the surgery room that were amazing, smiling and checking on me and reassuring that all went well. Then my surgeon came and also reassured that everything went well! They moved me again to the day surgery unit where I was with the second shift of nurses who were really amazing!!! They made sure i recover and feel good, they checked on me many times. They even started conversations with me that had nothing to do with hospitals and it was funny ! Finally they explained to me all the do and don’t c gave me the set of medications i should take and discharged me . For everyone worried, relax! You are in good hands. Despite the small size of the hospital, these people are doing their best to keep you safe and they are doing it fantastically!

On Sunday My husband went to the ER.. his right arm was swollen for a few days .. got there at 2:15pm came home 7:30ish .. prognostic: blot clot or infection or both.. they gave an antibiotic but had to go back yesterday for an ultrasound.. at 1:30.. did ultrasound by 3pm ( it’s a blood clot ) got another prescription and had to stop antibiotics) but had to be seen by an internist.. 7pm still waiting .. went to complain he told the person what if he’s gone do I stay until he comes back ? She went to check and told him to come today internist will see him at NOON..but must go thru triage AGAIN.. So with his prescription went to the pharmacy last night it is now app 7pm.. they couldn’t make out Dr’s name .. nor did she put her license #! so they had to call the hospital … almost 8pm and no help.. so He had to pay full price 69.00!! This morning he got to the hospital at 10am..gave his name at triage. Noon comes around no calls and lights are dimmed , lo and behold it’s lunch time!!! By 2:00pm he had it, he goes to triage to complain and they said OMG Mr …. I’ll find the dr ASAP.. 2:45 no dr… my husband left with the intention of going to our dr and maybe a REAL HOSPITAL!! So he got home 3:10pm and as he was watering the plants.. his cell rings, guess who , the DR. Calls.. He was irritated because My husband wasn’t there, He couldn’t put two words in to explain why he left .. dr said he wasn’t well and staff couldn’t find him blah blah blah.. now My husband once again is back at Santa f..ing Cabrini!!!! I already warned My husband , if there’s something wrong with me and need medical attention ASAP take me to either Maisonneuve / Rosemont or Jewish or Hôpital Vétérinaire Portage( My dog’s vet) or just let me die !!

Avoid!! The most disastrous and disorganized hospital ever! If you have a choice, I repeat, AVOID this place. Lack of specialists and lack of medical equipment to properly treat and diagnose patients. They have not updated their protocols and equipment in years. They are still living in the olden times with outdated methods. Doctors, nurses, and nurse aides need empathy training badly because 90% of the staff here is rude and disrespectful and arrogant, particularly in the Emergency department. The way they speak to patients, especially elderly patients, as well as family members and visitors is downright atrocious!! They like to give orders and make you feel like you are bothering them when you have questions. You’re better off dying than coming here. All you need to do is observe the staff to see how awful the service is here. Patients call for help and the nurses and aides simply take their sweet time, laughing, and sometimes even pass by the rooms without a care in the world. You basically go to this hospital to suffer. The doctors also order unnecessary tests and completely ignore the initial reason you were admitted to the Emergency. Also, rampant lack of communication from staff there. They don’t update patients or their families about next steps. It’s just endless waiting and wondering and none of the staff have a clue about anything. Instructions and directions are unclear. One employee tells you one thing but then another employee comes around and tells you a different thing. Miserable experience!

As someone who’s been accompanying sick parents to various hospitals my entire life, I’ve been to a lot of the hospitals in this city and I can say without a doubt that Santa Cabrini hospital is the most unorganized, unfriendly, and unhelpful hospital in this entire city. The reception staff are incredibly rude except for maybe a handful. Watching nurses and employees just stand around and talk to each other when people have to wait 2 hours plus for an already scheduled appointment is unacceptable. Don’t give my father a 10am appointment for a scan if you’re gonna make us wait literally 2 hours before we’re called, or 35 minutes for a blood test when it can be done within 5-10 minutes at a clsc. On more than one occasion, they completely forgot about him and we had to remind reception we’re still waiting to be called. This hospital is stuck in the 90s and is entirely inefficient. Avoid going here if you can. Rosemount-maisonneuve is pretty close to it, just go there.

I recently had surgery at this hospital that I could not get in my region. If I had had surgical treatment in Gatineau, they would have sliced my neck open at great risk of face paralysis. The surgeon who performed my surgery at Santa Cabrini used a modern technique that saves the gland and only removes the stone! He is one of a few who can do this in Canada. The treatment and care I received at this hospital was the best; top notch. All the staff were skilled and caring professionals. I was treated with kindness from the moment I entered until my post operative care. A sincere and grateful thank you to all the staff who dedicate themselves to providing patients at Santa Cabrini with top quality care. Some of us are understanding and see how hard you all work! May you all be blessed for the excellent care you provide patients.

At first I thought I finally found a good hospital so I recommended it to my mother who was really sick. But after how they treated her last night, I feel ashamed for them and will not recommend them to anyone. They made her wait a long time, giving priority to all the Italians who came long after (they didn't even seem to have that much of an emergency. They refused to see her after she complained. They didn't even have the decency to tell her they would not see her because she complained. She stayed from 5 pm to 6 AM THE NEXT DAY. I would have never thought hospital workers could be so inhuman. Why so cruel for nothing? What is a hospital supposed to be exactly? Not this, I believe. I regret having told my mom to go there. Especially since she is still suffering and spent my dad's birthday there...

I hate to give a bad review because I know that many healthcare providers work hard and try their very best to provide adequate services to patients. However, I came to this hospital to accompany a family member who was suffering from an urgent medical issue and the service that we received from the medical staff ranged from very bad to very good. Some nurses were very knowledgeable while others were simply horrible and we were lucky to have met a wonderful specialist because the first physician we saw in the emergency room was not knowledgeable at all. I also noticed that the facilities are old and somewhat dirty and the customer service was just OK. I am trying not to be too harsh with my review but we can do better AND we deserve better.

The worst hospital experience i have had in my 26 years of life living in Canada. I went in with a abdomen pain and the doctor in charge was so overwhelmed already by all the elderly patients that he ignored me for 3 hours before i start yelling and crying. the staff is very condescending and dors not have any empathy trainning. The service is horrible, i would have preferred dying in my bathroom then going to this hospital. It was a waste of time and energy for me. i only got proper medical help in another hospital for my pancreas issues that caused my abdominal pains. very disappointed after spending 5 hours in pain and no help was given.

I have been receiving cancer treatment at Santa Cabrini for almost a year. I must say it felt like I was in a private clinic. Such a small hospital, but the oncology nurses are awesome - respectful, friendly, knowledgeable, and bilingual. The oncologist is also really good and kind. My only complaint may be the wait time on days for clinics (regular appts to see the oncologist ) can sometimes be pretty long....then again, I've had nowhere to go anyway, so I just read while I wait. The restaurant/cafe is pretty good too! I've always found free street parking, and Oh, and the bonus is that you can learn a little Italian while you're there!

The doctor did not call the healthcare surrogate until 3 days after my mother was in that hospital . After a week of being admitted and we taught that the hospital did not allowed any visitors ,we discovered through a friend that it was only that floor ,when confronted we were refer to the admnistration . The nursing staff is very caring but I have issue with the receptionist who tell me that the nurses are super busy and can not talk to me especially I was calling long distance . I am certain that the nurses are busy but when talking to them ,they answer most of my questions. This is not a very caring communication with the family .

Depending on who takes care of you, the experience can vary greatly. There was a certain nurse who had a very patronizing tone and kept giving my mother and I an exasperating look. However, the nurse who took care of my mom for the majority of her visit, miss Patricia, was the kindest soul ever. She went above and beyond to treat my mom and change her patch whenever it was too bloody while taking the time to wipe out sweat from her face. She was always smiling and talking with compassion, which really eased our stress. If I could review a single staff member, I'd give her a 5-star.

The people working in the emergency room are vile, nasty and abusive towards patience. They put up signs that they don't want verbal abuse...they're the ones abusing people. You walk in, there's no one to direct you, you ask for help and they yell at you, I waited 2.5 hours to go to triage finally, got in because I saw that they were in the back just sitting there, my son had fever and I told them that he DID NOT have covid but they insisted on throwing us in a cover infested area with people coughing their brains out .so that we catch covid. Obviously we left at that point. VILE!

  • Bruno Bonvini

Here a pass à CT scan, nearly next day I am sick and I can't breathe and these people telling me that there wasn't any side effect... Due to my problem but I can't breathe propley ... Guess what they send me home ... no visit no doctor have seen me Nothing what a beautiful service we have in Québec in the hospitals. I hope things will change for the better soon. Maybe one day some people not gonna respond very well at things and than they might do terror acts to hospitals.. in Québec. The government must take action instead to cut ✂️ salary we need doctors WAKE UP!!!

I asked at reception desk what room my friend was in. I was sent to 2nd floor. I was given a gown, mask, face shield, gloves, and told to go in to room xxx. I walk in and the bed has been stripped n the matress is leaning at an angle in the bed. OMG! Is she dead? The nice nurse enquired for me: patient had been moved to 5th floor. Whole re-gowning procedure up there...no computerized data in this hospital. The reception staff works from paper listings. Nonetheless, this hospital is clean and well maintained.

My father was admitted to Santa Cabrini in December 2016 because he was no longer eating and was no longer responsive due to a brain tumor. I have to say that the Doctors that treated my father NEVER treated him like a terminally ill cancer patient. They went out of there way to ensure he got A1 care and treatment just like a regular person without a illness. And thanks to those compassionate Doctors and nurses on the 3rd floor, my father came home. Thank you so much, my family is forever grateful. Angela

My mother was admitted on November 27 for pneumonia but after many tests the doctors found out she had lung cancer and that it was on the last stage. After 2 weeks they moved her to Palliative care on the 5th floor, she knew she was not going home.. She passed away peacefully on December 18th 2019. I’d like to thank all nurses, doctors, social workers and all préposés that took care of her, they were very gentle and compassionate towards her. I give them all a 5 stars.

Worst organisation ever. Scheduled to appear for a day surgery at 6am. We've been waiting in the line up for admission for 60 min and counting now. The line hasn't moved in 20 min. I really don't know why they ask about 40 patients to show up at the same time if they can't handle the workload. I wouldn't recommend this hospital if my life depended on it. I surely hope they are better organized for urgent cases or you may as well never leave this place!

My Mother is 88 years old and she had a stroke on April 16 2019. She was and still is in Geriatrics department. The care and attention of all the staff in the department deserve a 5 star rating, Starting from the nurses, the orderlies, the professional therapists and Doctors. THEY treated my mom with respect, care, concern, and they did their jobs over and above to ensure my mom's well being . I want to thank them all for their empathy .

  • Elaine Lavallee

A third world hospital in Montreal ! The staff is completely overwhelmed. I came here by ambulance and emergency was a complete nightmare. When shipped upstairs the bell in the room didn't work. I had to go to nurses' station to ask for help for the person beside me with dementia. Some very rude and inefficient staff. They have completely forgotten that they are dealing with real people who did not choose to be sick. Avoid at all cost !

  • Picasi

I do not believe it waiting 7 hours not called yet , same 10 people are waiting most of them sleeping nobody is being called in to see the doctor. So ridicules. After waiting 9 hours we where called to room #6 waited there 1hr.the nurses where joking nothing happened after we got out nobody was left in the waiting room . The place is do dirty dust under the chairs in the waing room wal9all damaged . This Hospital should be closed .

  • H1Station Hc

Most of the Nurses are really tentative to your needs and very understanding they go above and beyond to make sure you are ok. The Doctors are very kind they do what they can in such little time to assess you and try really hard to be sure you will be okay I’ve gone to this hospital a lot in the past 10 years they are excellent much more understanding then most hospitals.

  • Chevorne Kirby

Very unprofessional staff. Nurses were arguing and berating each other when none of the 3 who tried couldn’t take my blood after sticking me 8 times. After being there for almost 8 hours ,the doctor sent a nurse with a prescription without explaining anything to me although I was having excruciating chest pains. Thankfully am still alive. Won’t be going back there.

  • John Di Fruscia

Waited 3 hours before seeing a triage nurse followed by several more hours of waiting. Since we are from out of town, they sent us to different offices to simply photo copy our driver's. Interactions with people who work here is nice, however the hospital seems understaffed to accommodate walkins. I witness a lot of people registering and then going home.

  • Carpe Diem

I'm an American and Christmas eve morning 1976 I awoke at The Queen Elizabeth Hotel, sick as can be with fever, aches, pains, and pneumonia.I took a cab to the E.R. and was well cared for.Saw the doctor, was given an antibiotic script and one for general pain.Everyone was kind and professional.I will always be grateful for the excellent care!

  • Abdur Rahman

I came with my sister to this hospital via ambulance. We waited here for 5 hours. No doctor called her for the 5 hours wait time. Finally, one of the nurses called and said that "please go to the clinic tomorrow and here is the paper". So we waited for 5 hours without seeing the doctor. This is ridiculous!

  • Prince Torres

Yes the waiting time can be long. But from what ive experienced in my five days there is that almost everybody is doing their best to be productive. Unlike other hospitals, the staff isnt chatting and being idle all the time. And when they do, its patient or work related. Most nurses are over worked.

  • Angelina Fondaco

If I could give this place a 0 I would. Besides this place being absolutely FLITHY and completely unsanitary. The nurses and drs in the emergency are the rudest, uncaring, unsympathetic incompetent individuals I have ever encountered. God help anyone who gets sick and had to go there!

  • PAC

Although my mom got excellent care the woman i dealt with working at the reception was so rude this morning she left lord knows where and i had to do the rest with her assistant much more pleasant The same goes with getting around you are only guided to end up more lost than before!

  • Nikis

I have been to the blood test clinic and honestly even if I live in Brossard, I am happy to go there. They are so nice. I had to come back again for another test and everything went super quick and smoothly. They respect the appointment times as well Thank you to the wonderful team

  • lubna bara

Yesterday, I went for a nuclear test for the heart. My experience was amazing. The whole staff including doctor Fadlala was professional and patient. I want to thank specially Julia and Francois, they were kind, reassuring, empath, professional. I felt I was in great hands.

  • Anthony Mancini

This is the WORST hospital on the island. You could be dying they’ll make you wait 8 to 10hrs. Everyone is EXTREMELY rude & absolutely lost. These are supposed to be professional and they can’t even do their jobs properly. If you need a hospital AVOID santa cabrini.

  • Luis Castellanos

Excellent patient attention. Congratulations to the administration for having a very professional staff, doctors, nurses and support employees in general. I stayed only three days during I received good medical attention, good meals and smiles.

  • Carmie Integrative Nutritional Chef and Coach

They don't pass you according to first come first served in the waiting room. for some reason, Everyone coming in after me, was called before!! I checked if there was a problem with my registration, I was on the list.

  • Darcy McKillop

Longest wait I have ever experienced. Tried to leave after 6 hours but the forced us to see thr triage nurse first. while waiting another 30 minutes they finally called our son's name for treatment.

  • Asiain Maria

6 hours in the urgency room to get attention for lower gastrointestinal bleeding without hemodynamic repercussion and we never receive medical consultation.

  • Scott

Amazing! The receptionist on duty today really needs improvement in ....mannerism. Is it so necessary to be rude and cut people off?

  • Nathan

Waited in line for 9 hours and people who just got in got checked before us no wifi and overall worst hospital I’ve been to

  • Joseph Manzo

Horrible service in the emergency. Waiting 5 plus hours with an open wound on my leg 1 inch deep. Ridiculous hospital!!

  • Carlo Chelini

A huge thank you to the staff and nursese on the 6th floor. Dr. HENRI thank you as well.
