Highly recommended for kids! I went with my 2yo for his first haircut at a hairdressers and Courtney was amazing. She had clearly had lots of experience with kids as she walked me through the process, explained why they prefer kids to sit on their own chair (but with parent close by) and gave me lots of time to get my toddler ready for the appointment. When it came time for the actual haircut, the video I had loaded on my phone did not end up working but Courtney (having anticipated this might be the case) generously offered her own phone and allowed my toddler to pick his own show. Toddler was very nervous and unhappy but Courtney was so patient and kind with him - asking him questions and listening to him, distracting him and efficiently cutting his hair so that by the end, he was summer hair ready! Courtney is a one-of-a-kind hairdresser who truly did cater for my toddler, was kind and patient, good at job and who made nothing seem too hard. Truly rare to find these days! And to cap it all off, it was so reasonably priced. Book your kids in to see Courtney!!

We had a walk in appointment for my 2 year old son today and were greeted with happy smiles from staff and sat with Sophia. My toddler was visibly nervous with a few tears but Sophia engaged with us with such kindness, patience and care. Soon enough my son was showing her his toy fire truck and sat happily while she gave him a quick but very thorough haircut. Whenever my son became anxious Sophia stopped to reassure him and only continued when he was comfortable. It was such a great experience. We will definitely return for future cuts!

I had an amazing experience at HIP Marrickville today! The salon has a very cool and friendly atmosphere, and Courtney was lovely and extremely knowledgeable about how to achieve the look I wanted and created the cutest full volume bob with my fine limp hair. She talked me through everything and made sure we were on the same page at every step. 100% would return just for the blissful hair wash experience! Looking forward to my next visit and to bringing my mum and daughter to get their hair done at HIP.

I’ve never left a negative review, but I’ve just had the worst salon experience of my adult life with Rose at HIP. I gave a brief of what I wanted and had reference pics (that were of me) I have come home in tears. Not only was the cut bad but she made poor remarks about my hair it was too thin and so frizzy to achieve what I asked for (despite the photos of my own hair!) a bad cut I could forgive but making me feel bad about my hair is such bad service and should be avoided.

Just adding another 5 star review to a long list of similar reviews. The staff here are so caring, considerate, and have incredible attention to detail. I've seen Sophia and Courtney over the last little while and both have been so wonderful. I don't have a lot of hair and that is a challenge for me, but they both are so good at doing the cut and making sure that it always looks amazing. Everyone should come here, you will never never go wrong.

HIP Hair Studio Marrickville is awesome!!✨ Got an amazing hair cut, staff were super friendly, and the lovely Inna, who cut my hair, was professional, listened to what I wanted for my hair and did an amazing haircut as well as a super relaxing wash! As someone who has had difficulties with salon cuts I can absolutely recommend HIP Studio. Definitely going there for my next cut!

I had a lovely experience with Courtney! I provided reference photos for the balayage I wanted and she did an absolutely amazing job with the colour. She was so friendly, very welcoming and happy to answer the questions I had and would explain what she was doing with my hair each step of the way, which was really comforting. Sophia really took my needs into account, giving me a fantastic haircut which will last for months and be low maintenance. I felt truly seen and cared for. I come here for my wash & blowdrys. Courtney always goes out of her way to make me feel comfortable and fit me in last min. All the staff are kind and they listen to your needs. Very price competitive for the metro.

Had one of the best men's cut from Yuni a couple of Sundays ago, especially for the price paid. She took a lot of care and patience and had incredible attention to detail when doing the scissor part of the cut.

Vince is a fantastic colourist and hair dresser. This is now my go-to. I have a short bob and Rose perfected the blunt cut. Both Vince and Rose are very friendly. Great local hair salon.
