I think it was the larger/old man who two other reviewers were talking about but I just wanted to scan some drawings out of a sketchbook and I usually use the scanning maker space in Downtown Hamilton to scan with the CanoScanner to get high quality scans. But for whatever reason they didn’t let me scan using the canoscanner and I had to scan with the scanner that they use for regular paper , I was given no help on how to use it and when I told him I had no success scanning it and told him Ill do it somewhere else , he gave a really condescending explanation and acted like I was supposed to know before hand how to scan Sketchbook paper on a scanner that is usually used for regular writing paper. I just don’t understand why it was such an issue for them to book me for a quick maker space scanning session. I understand it might take more work or whatever but idk it shouldn’t be such an issue .

This afternoon around 1pm I walked into the Library with some trepidation. Was planning to renew a book which had been with me(renewed several times) for at least 6 months. It was a classic compendium of mystery stories, and I didn't want to return it without reading it fully from cover to cover. My busy work schedule and Pokemon Go had prevented me from doing so in the past. On walking through the door, I greeted the Service person. She was grace personified and renewed it within no time. A big load was off my shoulders. And I walked out triumphantly with the book in my hand. The whole experience took less than 5 minutes. Extraordinary service indeed.! Would highly recommend visiting this Library multiple times.

Worst library experience ever. I was trying to study and one of the employees sat beside me and was organizing the movies on a steel cart; she kepy banging on the cart very loudly while puttig away the movies, she could clearly see that I was trying to study. So I had to pack up all of my things and move to a different area where I couldn't hear her. At the same time two other employees were talkng very loudly at the front desk, it was very distracting. I thought this was a library where you can do homework in a quiet environment.I will not be coming back to this location.

Dissapointing that they are not here to meet the needs of the young community. Opening only at 10am, closed Fridays and Sundays...which are 2 days that families need the library to be open especially when there is no school, on PD days and then on weekends to catch up on reading or projects. It seems the hours are based around being convenient for the staff and NOT the general public. It's sad that the Library is better staffed/organized to meet the needs of the community better.

An excellent place to go study, as well as a wide variety of books, but can be unbearably loud once the children come in. A bit small, but nice and clean. Some staff are more helpful than others, but overall it’s a good library if you want to take your child there, and it is also in close proximity to McMaster University.

The manager(?)/large older man in charge is unnecessarily rude. Was studying quietly with a friend when he told us to give up our seats for other “customers” looking visibly irritated. Is the library not a public space with equal access to all? And since when did libraries start operating like a private business?

Rude staff. I asked a staff member for a movie and he let out a deep sigh of annoyance to let me know how inconvenient it was for him to do his job and help me. It was a larger gentleman that I’ve seen another reviewer mention as well. If you’re going to be rude to people, you shouldn’t work with people.

Best and quite place for study . There is free parking too. Also now you can print 10 pages for free, (that comes with membership i think) Helpful staff.Lots of dvds and books available. Also near to Mc master university. Bicycle parking is also available. …

I live nearby, and this branch of the library has always been convenient and the staff are helpful. If I understand correctly, the reduced hours on the branch in the last two years were in part to allow staff to help out with Covid vaccination clinics. (Thank you.)

Good and quiet place for studies or computer use. Close to McMaster's university. A lot if students enjoy library service because of convenient location. This location has recently been renovated. Though parking structure is very small but still ok.

The larger gentleman should not have a position working with the public. He's severely lacking in customer service skills and has a nasty attitude. Utterly immature, shameful and unprofessional.

  • Jimmy Lafontaine

Small and loud. Librarians chit chat and one of them has a voice that carries. Is that ironic? Can't study here but it's free books and internet so why complain. Why are you closed on Fridays?

Me and my mom go there every time when we want to go shopping because it's on our route. Lot's of books include Chinese book. Sometimes you need to wait for a seat XD. Silent reading space.

Everything’s great like close to Tim Hortons and everything in their appropriate places but a kid took up a computer to play video games and no staff did anything about it!

  • William Yao

loud and not a great place for studying but very fun for children. Lots of workshops and activities. staff can be unreasonable at times.

  • Saeed Bonab

Went there to get a membership and to borrow a book. Lady behind the desk was so helpful. Environment was also pleasant inside.

  • Jason Lim

Good for small kids to play. Hope that the opening hours would be longer during the Winter seasons as well as the Summers.

  • Shannon E

The workers here are always so helpful and the most helpful I find in Hamilton. Definitely go here for your reading …

  • Emma Sherwood

Super nice, helpful staff, simple process to get a library card (I did it online), COVID-19 protocols felt very safe.

  • Riley Mione

Especially convenient for students is the free printer service (2 pages a day I think) that comes with a membership!

  • Michael Wulff

Smaller library but friendly service and some high tech equipment for self checkout and returns!

  • L Z

Overall great, with good variety and helpful staff. Can be loud and busy in the afternoons

  • barb miller
