Some staff support the racist readers to bully the Asian! Really shocked the racial discrimination is so heavy in this library! One nasty racist creature who booked room 6 from 12.30 pm asked the training staff (with glasses) to get me out of room 6 at 12.20pm! Just because she arrived earlier than her booking time, she wants me to get out so that she can start to use room 6, 10 mins earlier than her booking time. We cannot stop her doing that as the Law does not say racist creature cannot enter library. However, the training staff were using her rapid action to support the racist! She tried all her best to ask me out so that the racist reader can use the room right now. I feel sorry for that racist reader. I reckon she still lives in Middle Age, so she thinks she still has privilege-whenever a white person wants a place and asks an Asian to leave, we must leave! Unfortunately, Time changed. I refused to leave until 12.29pm. A sneer was on her face, but they had to wait until 12.29 as her time was 12.30. That training staff was so keen on chasing me out of the room, which is so ridiculous. When the time reached 12.29pm, she was running to room 6 to ask me out (I was opening the door at that moment). Evidently she is so afraid that I would spend one more min in that room ......

I think this place can be a live example for the organisations who want to understand what "Best Customer Care Service" means. I am amazed to see how each and every staff member is motivated to deliver the best. "Care" word is literally followed here. Their is usually sufficient place, infrastructure and all the equipments are well maintained. Collection of the books is excellent too. You will be always encouraged to participate in the programs arranged inside the library either personally or by the promotional posters. Most visitors are regular and are aligned well with the overall discipline of the place. The overall show runs like an efficient corporate with kind cooperation.

The baby and toddler programs at Hornsby library are wonderful! The librarians are very engaging and so friendly and even remember the children's names! School holiday programs and the Christmas pantomime are also very fun and very well organised and managed. There is a staff member that at times would ask parents and grandparents to be mindful of the rules in the library and it may seem rude and harsh but without the librarians ensuring the rules of the library are followed, the library could end up in a mess. Thank you to the librarians at Hornsby library, it is always a joy to attend any of the programs that are offered.

The recent renovations have vastly improved the library. It's usually a clean and productive space to be in with a great range of books and tables to study at. The reason it's not getting 5 stars is because the Microsoft teams incoming call sound regularly gets plays throughout the library. I'm not sure if the librarians use it as some kind of signal or ring tone but, for some reason, that noise plays throughout the speakers every 5-10 minutes and has done so on all the dozens of times I've been here over the past year. It's not really noticeable at first but gets annoying for someone who's there regularly.

It was supposed to be a good library until library management started translating to Mandrin, stories and songs told during the sessions for children, from last 4-6 weeks. The teachers were telling and expalaining stories in Mandrin. I am not against any language or community but forcing my kid to learn a not native language of the country is not good. If you want to teach Mandrin in govt. Institutions then come up with seperate classes or days for them. I urge authorities to look into this matter and stop this discrmination with other community lanaguages. Please keep it to English only.

A lot of people say that there are too many students at the library etc. but in a way, it's not the library's fault. They have really friendly staff and you can borrow and return books really easily. There are plenty of seats everywhere and they have many, many books to choose from. I honestly wish that the kids got to borrow a few more PRC books per card (especially because of COVID) but apart from that, Hornsby Library is a wonderful place to study, borrow books, return books, and just read in a generally calm environment. I would definitely recommend this library :)

Very happy with the library being remodeled, the new books, service is great... the only downside is that some people don't have manners, like having phone calls and not having the descenty to go outside to have that call. I have noticed as well shool children go to socialise and making a lot of noise and even swearing in the open area of the library and people who go to work in the library having calls and talking out of their guts .... definitely not a quite place to have a read or go to study

This is a great library with many great resources and facilities that are easily accessible. Membership is free, and you will receive a library card that allows you to borrow books and use the computers free of charge. There is a quiet room for silent studying, as well as a kids' area and a general area in the middle with tables that can also be used for studying. There are printers which can be used for a cost. The staff are friendly and this is one of the best libraries I've visited.

This review is to Hornsby Library Management. The library opening hours are not reasonable. either too late or too short. list the comparison for you. Everyday is a long queue for opening at 10:00pm. Sunday Hornsby 2–5 pm Gordon :9:30-5:00pm Monday 10 am–9 pm Gordon: 9:00-8:00pm Tuesday 10 am–9 pm Gordon: 9:00-8:00pm Wednesday 10 am–9 pm Gordon: 9:00-8:00pm Thursday 10 am–9 pm Gordon: 9:00-8:00pm Friday 10 am–7 pm Gordon: 9:00-5:00pm Saturday 9:30 am–5 pm Gordon: 9:30-5:00pm

Stale air in winter. I think it is definitely not good to the staff working there for everyday staying there. I wish to give the staff 5 stars, but the library generally not makes me happy. Open too late. 3 hours in the afternoon of Sunday. Gordon library is your role model! Besides, every weekday a Lot of people are queuing to enter into the library. It is the Only libarary open @10:00am in around neighbour suburbs. It Is Too Late!

Council they do need to spent some money to upgrade and redecorate this library, unlike Chatswood and Gordon library, facilities are too shabby from carpet, devices to desk&chairs, and they should also reorganise the space, some part is wasted and some are quite crowded and study seats seem not enough after school. And 8 hrs limit using wifi sucks...never meet in other libraries... Btw, staffs are helpful tho :)

The staff at Hornsby library are very polite and helpful. The customer service ia stunning. They are doing well in keeping ther community safe during the pandemic. All the measures ( quarantining the books, providing wipes, sanitisers and pedal operated bins, controlling ther number of visitors,...) are in place without causing trouble to the visitors. Keep up the good work and maintain the good culture.

It's a busy library with fair size space, but it's literally littered with kids and teenagers sitting/laying all over the floor. You can't get through an aisle without tripping over one or their school bags, books or toys. It's a safety issue. The library itself looks like it has a lot of material to offer, but between that and the lack of ventilation, it's hard to stick around to find out.

New and improved after recent refurbishments Hornsby library is an airy, welcoming and relaxing space. Huge collection of books and media available. The space hlitself includes many comfy seats/lounges and desks for people to read and study at their leisure. Kids section is absolutely fantastic with a huge selection of books that cater to every age level.

One of the best libraries I have been to, its quiet, clean, and has enough space for everyone, The staff is super friendly and nice. They recently rebuild the whole library and it now looks like a multi-million dollar head office of a top notch company. I go there whenever I need some peace of mind and want to get some serious work done.

Good library. Free WiFi is great although it can get slow during busy times. But that is to be expected. There is also air conditioning which is really great during summer, and it is also a free alternative to studying in a cafe. There is plenty of study space, although during HSC and peak school study times it may be busy.

  • Christopher Tucker

Currently due to refurbishment the library is partly partitioned off. There is barely any work this space available, which is very annoying. Looking forward to when the refurbishment’s are complete it should be a lot easier to work and studying. Would not recommend it currently. Works meant to finish by mid year 2021.

  • Elizabeth Li

very decent library however a lot of space is not utilised efficiently, there should a few private study rooms for hire and and they need a dehumidifier because everytime I walk in, there is a bit of a mouldy smell. More working desks needed instead of those low lying seats that people sleep on.

  • Kristine S

Hornsby Central Library is an absolute delight to visit - roomy, well-appointed, & bright. The facilities are excellent for students, browsers, borrowers. My favourite is the multitude of actual AND audiobooks of the most recently published popular titles. The librarians are so helpful too!

  • Kenneth Yuen

The interior design is so amazing, there's place for you to charge your laptop and phone, aesthetic seating designed for collaboration (round tables for 2-3 people, mini groups), great facilities, great aircon in summer, very amazing for a library in the Hornsby Council area.

  • Andy PAGE

So good to have the library open again... The renovations gave transformed it - great ergonomic layout which flows really well and gives the space a lovely warm & positive vibe. The staff, as always are ever helpful - wonderful ! Kudos to all stakeholders - you done good...

  • Lindsay Barnes

In desperate need of an upgrade. One of the most shabby libraries I have ever visited. No good seating or sensory areas for kids and old metal shelving units make the place look like a video store. Sad that this community has not invested in its library.

  • Toy Galaxy

The interior of Hornsby library was completely overhauled, for the better! It now is centred on a working area, where people can be productive, in a quiet environment. A richer variety of books were also included, such as for children or for audio.

  • Michael Stockdale

Not that good. Was unable to access most of the library. Was unable to browse books or use the computers They should stay closed until they are allowed to open offering a full service Not what I expected when they said they were open again

  • Basil Abraham

Very nice library with a great selection of books. Friendly staff and amazing automated checkout and return facility. Open during convenient hours. The justice of peace being available is a great advantage. I love my local library

  • Jesse Luo

If your JP service is canceled wouldnt you have the courtesy to tell everyone in the waiting room or at least put up a sign? No. Five staffs walked past without even a word or a look. Wasted everyones time

  • Chitra Jayasekara

  • Mat Taylor

The library has comics/grahic novels & manga. Staff are great. There are computers for public use. No study rooms at the moment due to the library being refurbished. They also have wifi.

  • Camran LV

Doing a renovation, the completion due date is 6 Jun (What I was told) Very limited seats due to this renovation and NO Power (for those of you using pluged-in laptops)! Till then.

  • Michelle Earnshaw

My partner and I are very appreciative that the library provides the services of a Justice of The Peace and that the service is provided on selected weekends. Thanks so much.

  • Shane M

Really well set out, lots of tables for students and rooms for group study. Clean and tidy, great facilities. Most importantly, a great range of resources for all ages.

  • Stefan Pulpitel

It's a good library, but the kids section is not that great and there is a tenancy for parents to let their kids run riot in this area as if it were a playground

  • Sophie Buchanan
