Intact was wonderful for almost 10 years, they were purely amazing when I had a hidden hit and run occur in March 2022 after I had just purchased a new vehicle. However, we are not customers anymore due to them claiming that we never paid one month, when we did through credit card rather than the normal withdrawal from my bank account. So, I was on the phone with Intact due to an email that made zero sense to us on June 11th, they stated we owed them just less than $530 and some change, said that if we did not pay the $247 and few cents, they would cut us off. Is this how they treat a loyal customer of nearly a decade? Unfortunately, yes they do, they cared about nothing but money, money, money. We did not know how to pay the $248 as the email and phone conversation were very vague, we thought it would just withdraw on our regular date which was June 15th. Apparently not. They just immediately cut us off as customers, and said they would mail us a cheque of $100 oh dear, so that was June 17th, and no cheque in sight even though we live in the same city as the main Intact Building. How odd. So I called them up today, and they hung up on me as soon as I said I did not have a policy with them anymore. How lovely good to know not to recommend Intact to anyone else, and we are now happy with another insurance so far.

Dealing with Intact Insurance has probaly being one of the worst experience in my life! My deceased partner had his home and car insurance bundled and when it came to renew the vehicle registration, they refused to provide me with an insurance pink slip in order to renew the registration. The Police advised me that if i left the vehicle parked on the street without valid registration, it would be towed. Not only did Intact not care about that, they further advised me that the vehicle would not be insured if it was hit on the street because it was not registered. I was forced to take ownership of the vehicle in order to have it registered as well as put new insurance on it. When I contacted Intact to cancel the vehicle insurance, I was advised that because the polices were "bundled", I would loose the home insurance. So, I am forced to pay two insurances now while administrating an Estate. I have had several conversations with Intact Agents; each one requesting a copy of the death certificate, a copy of the Grant draft. As well, the personal questions they ask are humiliating and way over the agents paygrade! Please do yourself a favor, DO NOT bother with Intact Insurance. Pay a few more dollars and get the quality insurance you deserve administered by quality representatives.

I had an issue with a claim handled by Intact. Called Tuesday and the helpful person said that my claim number was from a system they no longer use BUT... she managed to find my info and said she would get someone on the problem. I asked if I should get another claim number so there wouldn't be any issue next time I called. She said, "No worries. They had it all sorted out." A few days later after no follow up, I called again and talked to another rep - Kity Chung - who said my claim was from a system they no longer use... then said nothing could be found. Then said I should try sending an email. When I explained that I had already been through this, she said she couldn't help and said I should send an email. Finally I said what is the email address and she said.... "Sorry I can't help with that." After being on hold for 20 minutes and then dealing with this incompetence I went online and found a random email address... There has been no response. INTACT?!?! ARE YOU READING THIS? ARE YOU AVOIDING ANY RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE YOU ARE MALICIOUS OR INCOMPETENT? Contact me.

Had to be one of the most painful experiences of my life dealing with Intact for a leak that had materialized in the home. They basically wouldn't do anything until they had confirmation of coverage, but was unwilling to send someone out to help identify the source of the problem. After some back and forth, they decided to send out a team from On Site that spent 4 hours and found nothing. After a few more days of no response from either On Site or Intact, I contacted my own plumber, who managed to confirm the source of the leak within 10 minutes. Response time from my adjuster required days sometimes weeks to get a response, in which case he would tell me he had requested X to be done by On Site, who I never heard from again after they wasted hours of my time initially. The whole process was so painful, I just paid out of pocket to deal with the problem and withdrew my claim. After this experience, I have little to no confidence that Intact will come through for me if I have another claim.

My house flooded at 4am on September 10, 2021. Intact was prompt with sending someone for the initial assessment. However, we stayed in our half ripped up, mouldy home for 2 weeks because no one from Intact (ESPECIALLY our broker) bothered to even look at the file. We left multiple voice messages and sent multiple emails, with no response on whether this would even be covered or not. When we finally reached our broker, she had clearly not even opened our file and spent most of the phone conversation in silence. No apology, no explanation, nothing. Not only has her gross negligence left us in limbo for 2 weeks, but my poor dog (a 9 y/o 90lb chocolate lab) slipped on the bare concrete that was left, and landed really hard on his hip. Since pets are “technically” property, and that fall was 100% avoidable had we not still been there, they should be paying for his vet bills. But we all know that won’t happen. I do NOT recommend this insurance company to anyone. Garbage.

Do not use this company! Paid for insurance for 15yrs with no claims ever. Made a single claim as I was hit by another car (not at fault) and there was 3 witnesses who wrote statements with police. Intact not only did not return any of my calls but did not help me with my claim against the other person, tried to rip me off for my $65 000 car to get repaired, lied to me and said it was repaired and when I called the dealership, intact had never even sent to in! They had no record of repair on my VIN#. (My car is under warranty and can only be repaired at the dealership) I then escalated the issue to intacts management who continued to lie to me (luckily everything is in writing), and when I got no where with management, I went to the ombudsman. Now mind you, this whole process took over 13 months and I was paying full insurance and a monthly $800 car payment, unable to even drive my car. Switched to TD now and its literally night and day between the companies.

Can confirm (and emphasize) with the recent reviewers that Intact service is almost non-existent, and will cancel your coverage without any notice, even if the issue is on their side. Intact has now cancelled my coverage for the second time in a row without notice, due to a still unknown issue when it came to withdrawing monthly payments. If you value knowing you are covered at all times and will be notified in case of any issues, choose another provider. For the owners, instead of a reply, I ask you to please spend the time and effort to ensure your payment processor(s) are working, and your customers are immediately notified in advance if there are any issues with payments. Immediately and aggressively cancelling an important insurance policy without any warning is not acceptable, and potentially fraudulent. As an insurance underwriter, your basic business relies on these very basic, yet critical processes, to survive.

Horrible company to deal with, had an accident in December went for a quote to Carstar both places point the finger at each other as to who’s holding up the process. Can’t get an appropriate answer to any questions and good luck on getting on the phone with them because they never answer, doesn’t matter what day/time/season you call them let alone rerun any emails. What’s the point in paying insurance if when you need them they can’t seem to do their job, will be replacing them right away so do your self a favour and avoid these guys. Haven’t ever dealt with such incompetent Company, going on 3 months now!! Thanks for the follow up but wish I could call and speak to someone..except NO ONE ever answers lol. Our claims person is Precious, and not very impressed with the lack of service. Now going on 3 weeks waiting to speak to a manager, or even a call or email from our agent. Thanks for the non-service.

My claim has been stuck for weeks. And its impossible to get someone on the phone. They assigned my claim to someone who was about to go on holidays for two weeks, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Person covering for them has been especially difficult to get a hold of because of Intact's phone system. Every time I call, it autodirects me to the voicemail of the person who has been on vacation for the past two weeks. No option to speak to reception or enter another extension. Emails are not responded to in a timely fashion either. When I went on the app to try to talk to a human, they didn't believe me when I told them this was the case. They said they could ping the person assigned to my claim so still waiting on my call back. They called once and left a voice mail, but deliberately waited until almost 5pm on a Friday. Not suspicious at all... Please fix your broken phone system

I am never going to use Belairdirect or Intact insurance (who owns Belairdirect and others) ever again. Their adjusters don't even follow their own rules and continually lowballing the market value without even using current information. At best, they have moved about 5% out of over a 30% value gap. They are not even aware of what the pandemic did to car values where used cars that can be bought today cost more than used card that won't be available for several months. All of my neighbours report better experience with other insurers and agree with the negative experience with both Intact and Belairdirect. I would really like to share this experience with those who are looking to move to new insurance companies. They should look to avoid them as they can count on poor appraisals when they need to make claims.

Fine as long as you don’t have an accident. They are cheap in the beginning but will raise your rate every year. Extremely difficult to escalate your concern; they don’t deal with common sense. They’re policy stats they will provide you with an equivalent rental but their rental companies could not accomplish that. I found alternative options which they accepted only for them to only cover 1/3 of the cost which would have been cheaper than enterprise. They have gotten too big and no longer care about the customer. Supervisors and managers will do nothing to remedy your situation they will only give you empty apologies and ultimately do nothing. Currently shopping for a new broker and insurance company. Would not recommend.

Worst company ever. My premium has been increased just because my drive app is not working for me. Reported that 10 times. They couldn't help and increased my premium by 15 dollars per month. Worst customer services. I spoke to an account department they couldn't help and the guy was denying that anyone else can help me. Than transfer me over to customer service department. Another guy asked for my policy number and then when I was saying the number he hangs up on me. The third time this happen to me. Please be aware of such scam like intact insurance company. They are unprofessional will never help you. I would rather go for abit expensive insurance company then staying with scammers. So disappointed.

A guest who rented my car had to use the insurance. I paid the amount out of my pocket as instructed by Intact to later be reimbursed. It's been almost 2 months and I haven't received anything. The claim was approved about a month ago, but they always find an excuse to delay the payment, I've been calling the claim department a lot and they always say it most be done by the the person in charge of the claim who is never reachable. I was only able to reach her once out of the about 10 times I've called the company, and she said I would receive the amount by the end of that day.... it's been 2 weeks since then. UPDATE: It's been over 4 months now and I still haven't receive anything

I have been with intact over 4 years and just received a registered letter stating my policy was being terminated due to 2 missed payments ( I wasn't notified via call or email about the payments), I have multiple accounts and had a new card . I even spoke to someone recently in regards to updating my policy and there was 0 mentioned of missed payments .To reinstate my policy they wanted payment upfront of over 1k ... umm nope . I'll take my business elsewhere , and will be switching my fiance over with his car, motorcycle and house insurance. Way to treat a long term client intact. I use to referr people but Definitely not anymore !

I have been with intact for the past 10 years and I made one mistake on a payment and they are threatening to make me pay the full rate in one sum. Who do they think they are, nobody in this planet is perfect we all make mistakes. You should have a three strikes you're out policy especially for someone who's only made one mistake in 10 years. What a greedy greedy industry it is, not to mention it is the most expensive insurance that you could possibly get, every renewal they increase the rate. I'm thinking about shopping around now cuz I know I can get the same policy for half the price that I'm paying now.

Should be called “No Tact Insurance” Wish I had checked these reviews before using them. Most pathetic customer service I’ve ever encountered. Opened a claim and nobody called me back. Had to call them, then resorted to email which still never answered my questions. Was on a tight timeline to get repairs done and for 3 weeks they ignored my question on whether it would be covered. After spending $7k to get the problem fixed they out of the blue said it wouldn’t be covered without even seeing the reports. Spent a lot more money on the sure fix than I would have had I known they wouldn’t cover it.

I needed insurance on a cube van to move across the country. My agent was fairly busy so i told her a day or 2 would be okay. It's a week later and not only do i not have my insurance card i get redirected to her voicemail. So no response at all. I still have no insurance card and need to take the cube van to a mechanic tomorrow for him to look over. If I cancel the appointment with my mechanic i will have to reschedule and wait another week. I am moving in a week and need time to pack. I tried to be understanding and am now paying dearly for it. I am not impressed at all with this slow service.

I've been with Intact for 22 years and had only one minor claim. Now, because of that one claim, they're raising my premium by 33%. Clearly they don't want my business. Regarding their response to my original review, I did discuss with my broker. He took it to management and they stand by their decision to penalize me this much for a very minor, single-vehicle fender-bender (3 years ago, btw). I would think that 22 years of excellent business would be reason enough for Intact to find opportunities for me so save, rather than reversing a previous decision to not count my one claim against me.

Claims employees who are assigned to you are hard to get in contact with, but calling the main line made my life a lot easier since I was able to give my statement right way. The service centre employees are amazing and I was comfortable the entire process. I had no issues leaving my car with them. The actual repair shop, they did a great job with the repair, but picking up my vehicle, there was about 80km's gone when I dropped it off with a full tank. There was also a glove and an electric beard trimmer left in my car as well. Not entirely impressed about that, but the repairs were great.

Worst experience I have ever experienced in my life. They lie, they lie, they lie. Very unprofessional. I have been ran around and lied to so many times. Filed a claim July 02, 2021. Still no update. They made me take my truck three times for estimates. Will not return phone calls. My claim agent has been changed several times as well as I have had several managers assigned to the file. Everyone keeps passing the buck saying someone will contact me. I am so frustrated time to move on to a different company. Why pay for a service you can trust. So much for being there when you need them

I as a female can only say good about this company! Upon my recent accident I was treated with respect! My claim was quick and painless,questions were answered quick and efficient. I had a rental and they were so quick and since my clam ran over the holidays they extended my rental without question or problems! I am very pleased and for sure will remain with them. I have been with them for about 18 yrs and they are always pleasant! My husband seeing how well I was treated and the great price of my premiums decided to change over his insurance to this company!!! Thank you

Absolutely the worst company to deal with. I started a vehicle claim over three weeks ago and have not heard anything from the adjusters. My file has been passed around to several employees with no one contacting me on the status of my vehicle or updating me on what they are doing. If you want an insurance company that will communicate with you when you have a claim, this is not the one to go with. I am absolutely disgusted with Intact Insurances customer service and their inability to communicate with a long term customer in good standing.

I've had to make 2 different claims in the last 3 months. And on both claims I've received nothing but a run around. I too have been with them for well over 15 years and haven't made a single claim in that time, and when you need them nothing. They tell you one thing and do another. Change who I'm dealing with in the middle and have to start over. I even emailed my rep every week for 4 weeks only to get sent to someone else and start over. I dont know if it's the company or the employees but something needs to change!

I made a claim to replace carpet in our office as we had spilled grease and could not get it removed even though the carpet was professionally cleaned and later spot cleans again. Our representative was very helpful and was easy to work with as she let us pick who we wanted to use to replace the flooring. During the process I actually received a call from another department at Intact "to make sure that everything was working the way I thought and was not suffering in silence." By far the single WORST car insurance company I have ever dealt with in 25 years of driving. Everything was just peachy for 3 years with them...until of course I had my first accident! They fed me to the lions! Not only did they skyrocket my insurance premium, but they completely botched my monthly payments and tried to bill me twice in one month! it's one thing to be incompetent, but they are also thieves! Now two months after cancelling my policy they are coming after me for $450!!! AVOID INTACT AT ALL COSTS!!!

Updated review- I am beyond appalled by this company. There must be a scam occurring because nothing seems to add up with these people. The poorest communications and when it isn’t your fault they want to low ball their own clients, and seem to not care how they treat their own customers. I believe a company like this is pure thievery by their proven actions and lack of. It is really sad that they would choose to conduct themselves like this. Definitely sharing with everyone I meet to stay clear of this group.

I have paid to the insurance more than $20,000 dollars in the last 18 years and my insurance had never paid out anything for me, and now that a customer from intact hit my car I had to pressure the insurance for 2 months to finally get a little tip for my car that had no damages and was 31 years old OLDSMOBILE 98 I had look many years for a car like this and the 2 cars I found was $10,000 and over and the insurance told me it's an old piece of junk it has no value and not a bit I could do, I am not happy.

Worst experience for my first time accident. I was 0% at fault, insurance is being extremely difficult to deal with have to drive a vehicle that is 1/3 repaired due to back ordered parts indefinitely... so no end to having my SUV repaired. Insurance is not paying for rental even tho i have coverage for it as 'deamed safe as luxury items aren't a necessity' even tho back end smashed and feel unsafe driving a vehicle NOT FULLY repaired! Worst service to deal with especially during a stressful situation!!!

Terrible. Phone lines for customer service never work. Call center has been down for weeks and no one responses over email. You have to take a round about way to connect with a real person over the telephone. Furthermore, if you are in an accident you have to fight for every penny you deserve. Don't pay into this company for years and years because you will not get the support you need when the time comes. I recommend TD insurance instead, they always have been super accomodating.

I agree with many other negative posts. I’ve dealt with at least 5 other insurance companies in the past and have never experienced such bad customer service. I left numerous voice and email messages over the past 5 weeks for a simple claim. During that time period, nobody has provided any update and after 5 weeks of wasted time, they closed my file, telling me to pursue the responsible party in court on my own. What is the point of having insurance??

We recently had significant wind damage after a storm tore off roof shingles . Intact provided us with a smooth and stress-free process to submit and process our claim. The adjuster "john" was always helpful and prompt in returning calls and emails. Options given to us allowed us to make a decision that worked best for us. Thank u for the support and help we received. We were stressed but thankful we had a good insurance company to back us up.

Long story short: Insurance claim put through - denied! Requested information on how to fix said denied insurance claim, no information can be given on how to fix the denied claim. Need to look into and pay for a separate contractor to help me figure out what needs to be fixed on my home. It's like trying to figure out a riddle with no information. Good job intact...I give you 5 stars on the lack of customer service you provide.

These people are the absolute worst! My claim was opened on October 8th. Numerous calls and emails and I still haven't heard back from my adjuster! Completely unacceptable. I've been without my vehicle for over 4 months of it wasn't for the auto body shop reaching out to me I would have NO idea what was going on. I could go on, and on about my dealings with these people. All I will say is, DO NOT even give them a chance.

Do not use this company! They don't even deserve the one star I've given them. First claim took almost 2 years to settle, my second claim looks like I will need to hire a lawyer to settle. They have dragged me along on a leash like a lazy dog for almost 1.5 years. If they don't want to cover my claim just say so! Instead they just make appointments and don't show up to do the work. Today all my policies will be canceled.

Keep up the OUTSTANDING job Intact, you are doing it right!!! Don't hesitate, switch providers to Intact, you will be glad you did. I meant to call another company for an home insurance quote but ended up with Intact talking to Sal. I am surprised at the attitude I received for a potential new customer. I realize the details needed for an accurate quote which I had no issue except with the lack of professionalism. I asked to speak with someone else to continue but was told to hang up and call back. Moved on and signed up with another company.

This is by far the worst insurance company that I have ever had to deal with. I can't get away from them fast enough. I've been screwed around, lied to, ignored and yelled at by their adjusters. Thoroughly unprofessional. For such a big company they should be ashamed of themselves. Insurance is always a game of maybes, but if you're going to have a company profit off you endlessly at least pick one with class.

After over one year with them, I realized that I was paying WAY TO MUCH... if I were you, I would quote with your bank before signing anything with them.. I just canceled my insurance with Intact because TD offers the same thing for half of the price. Also, it was extremelly hard to talk to someone at Intact and when I asked for a cancelation paper, they didnt even care to try to convince me to stay with them.

We have been trying to settle a claim for over three months with this company, we can never get a hold of our adjuster (it takes a minimum of 2 weeks to respond to an email). Then to top it off they are only covering half of our claim. Honestly, what's the point of paying for home insurance just so they can try to screw you over with what is covered. Unreal. Try to find a company that has better standards.

I have been with Intact for a long time and never had hardly any claims. My car was in the hail storm and i have never been treated so unreasonably and unfairly by Intact. They don't care about their clients. I don't trust me them anymore. I didn't realize how bad of an insurance company they are, till i had to deal with them with the with the hail damage on my car. I don't recommend them at all. Beware!!

I don’t imagine that dealing with insurance companies is ever a great experience. But my not at fault accident was a bit of a headache to deal with. Intact did not communicate well with the garage & I had to step in as an intermediary which is not my job! That’s why I pay for insurance…. I also had paid upfront for a replacement part and have been waiting 6 months to be reimbursed for it.

The broker I dealt with was very helpful and then when the agent assigned to claim contacted me the service quality I received was exceptional. It was a 0% fault claim and I also had my deductible waived. I can say the agent went the extra mile and I am happy with the service and attention I received. I would also like to note that I was kept up to date on the process the whole time.

Worst experience ever. I ve talked to one of the agents who sent me a letter with the offer for my car ( it was a total loss), it’s been more than a week and a half and nobody responded to me back. I can’t even buy a vehicle because they are not working on my claim . Thought it s been there since Jan 21. I ve sent them 5 emails and called them few times .. still no response.

Completely incompetent staff. The woman dealing with my claim knows absolutely nothing about vehicles. This company actively participates in bad faith. We filed a claim with them over 2 months ago for a car accident and they have yet to determine liability. Every time we contact they say they haven’t finished determining liability. If you have intact insurance know that they likely won’t help you and are just seeking an easy pay day and to screw over claimants.

Took them almost a month to figure out how to go about an insurance claim regarding a car accident. Will be switching insurance companies due to poor customer service.

Just called them and talked to the receptionist, who’s English skills were worse than mine. After I had to ask (politely) a couple of times to repeat the number she was mumbling into the phone she yelled the number very loud and annoyed at me and immediately hung up. One would expect a little more customer service from your “receptionist”, INTACT.

She denied my claim saying I didn’t have coverage for that specific problem of which I’d been told I had full coverage for through my insurance broker. I will be seeking a new insurance company.

Tough slogging to get help with my claim. Second adjuster being assigned but still not resolved. Can't say as the Intact service justifies any sort of premium. May need to just go for competitive quotes and let the lowest bidder take the business. Much to much stress and difficulty working within the Intact system. Sadly.

Intact made our vehicle claim very seamless and coordinated almost everything. Well done but as a very long-time customer with no claims, I would like to see our premium reduced, not regularly increasing. I've paid a ton of money in premiums over the decades, no longer commute and drive much less mileage than previously.

Worst customer claim service I have ever experienced. Claims adjuster has never returned any of my numerous phone messages and even after speaking to his superior I still have not received a call. Going on a month for a relatively simple claim and vehicle damage estimate still not approved and repairs not started !!

I opened a claim with Intact. It has been 2 months since someone contacted me. I have contacted them several times. Zero communication. No emails, no phone calls. If I do call them they ask me the same questions and then nothing happens. Beyond words for their fail in customer service

Customer claim service is HORRIBLE! Took 7 weeks for my 0% liability claim to be processed. Calls to the claims department always goes to voice-mail, they never return calls or emails. Also they are owing me money from a tow truck bill that should be reimbursed. DO NOT USE INTACT.

The previous year they did not send me any renewal I had to scramble to get some insurance on their website, they did not send me any acknowledgment that I had bought insurance……..this year I went with someone else and they charged me for cancellation fee …..uggh very frustrating
