24 Jun 23. Four of us dined for lunch. We queued up outside as the restaurant was just opening for lunch. We didn't have to wait long. We were seated upon entering the restaurant, offered sparkling water and given menus. However, after ordering, we saw the table next to us had a specials menu that we didn't get. This menu had $25 pasta and pizza specials, which included a drink. I told our waitress that we didn't see this specials menu but she didn't really care as we'd already ordered. We ordered a small Garlic, Herb & Cheese pizza ($12), Chicken Parmigiana with chips and salad (31.50), Rigatoni Alla Genovese ($34), Gnocchi Di Zucca ($34) and Gnocchi Carbonara ($33) instead of Spaghetti Carbonara ($28.50). The pizza came out first after 30 minutes. Three of the mains came out together, but we had to wait another 5 minutes for the Gnocchi Carbonara. The parma was huge and tasty, the chips and salad looked and tasted good. The Rigatoni Alla Genovese was nice, but nothing special. I ordered the Gnocchi Di Zucca believing it was pumpkin gnocchi, but it was normal gnocchi with diced pumpkin as part of the sauce. (Description on menu: Pumpkin gnocchi, burnt butter, spinach, crushed walnuts, mushrooms, crispy prosciutto topped with shaved parmesan). The gnocchi was lovely, but I was disappointed as was looking forward to pumpkin gnocchi. The burnt butter sauce wasn't burnt so was very oily. The walnuts, prosciutto and mushrooms were sliced so small with a scattering of spinach leaves and a few shavings of parmesan. The Gnocchi Carbonara, the gnocchi was lovely but the sauce was thicker and cheesier than a normal Carbonara sauce, making the meal heavy and a bit gluggy. Disappointing presentation of this dish too.

I only leave reviews when a place is exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. This was the latter Not worth it for NYE. Booked a New Years Eve dinner which was told gives us exclusive viewing of the fireworks from their Balcony or Rooftop The reality - Their balcony is mostly covered by trees so the view is obscured and only a partial view even the staff said they go to the rooftop However what they call their rooftop is actually the public walkway upstairs from the restaurant so we ended up watching the fireworks with everyone else! What did we pay for then? The service took 3 hours to serve a 3 course meal and we had to keep asking for our next course because it seems if we didn't ask they weren't going to serve it. (I don't know if we were meant to ask for when we wanted each course but if we were, we weren't told we had to) and I observed a couple next to us who were seated after us and kept getting their courses well ahead of us and I didn't see them asking for each course We were told told its a 1 1/12 hour sitting only so you would think after being there 4 for 3 hours they would wonder why we are way over our time! I also had to ask for a Steak Knife for the Steak I ordered, again I saw the table next to us didn't need to ask! The food was average at best. Well presented but nothing that stood out and it wasn't cheap we paid $170 per person! Sorry but we were really disappointed definitely do not recommend booking for NYE not sure about normal times though. They also would not accept the Entertainment Book voucher despite the restrictions for the restaurant clearly not stating the NYE was a restriction! And staff were also not friendly our waiter I think was new but was not very helpful!

What a great place to stop in whilst in Southgate. Positioned beautifully over the Yarra with city and river views, you’ll be welcomed by the friendly staff at this traditional and family feel Italian restaurant. Loading up for the half marathon the next day we were led to our table in the warm balcony dining area. The host recommended us and we followed and thankfully we did. We ordered the linguini pescatora, the porchetta, the lasagna for the teen and the risotto. Nothing could be faulted with amazing flavours, beautifully served and large portions as you’d expect from a family grown Italian restaurant. We didn’t have the space for dessert but will most definitely be back to try the ox cheek and the slow cooked beef Ragu option. The overall experience deserved six stars given the location, staff and food quality, serving size, flavours and price ( all of this Despite the local having some medical issues that needed attention (thanks to the staff for helping out and ensuring she was soundly cared for)! Thanks to everyone there and especially Peter/Paul (I can’t remember) for the amazing service and recommendations that were amazing

Great size restaurant with indoor & outdoor seating, we sat outside on the balcony with a nice view of the Yarra, was a shame the weather wasn’t great & the blinds were down. The young girl serving us was very friendly. Service was quick, we didn’t wait long for our meals at all. We ordered the arancini which were nearly as good as my mums, but possibly the best I’ve had in a restaurant, calamari were very fresh & tender, the risotto & gnocchi were also good - I’m a tough critic when it comes to Italian food as being Italian I cook it myself at home all the time, however - it was nice to have it cooked for me. Overall, it was a lovely experience!

Firstly, the food was incredible. I think It's hard to have dinner at a place where you would rate every single course of the night 5 stars, but the pizza and lasagne were excellent, and the dessert, tiramasu and gelati were perfect . Servers were friendly and quick, meal arrived to us within 10-15 minutes of ordering (on a Wednesday night), and the atmosphere was cool and quiet, we had the fortune of a nice well lit window seat. I'll be coming back for my Mum's birthday as a nice surprise for her.

We’ve been coming here for a while now because the service is amazing. They’re very fast to bring out the food, so it’s great if you have a show to attend. Yesterday we sat outside which was such a vibe as the jazz festival was on and they walked pass. We enjoyed free entertainment! The food is always bang on and we love the pizzas so much! And the arancinis are mouth bombs! Thanks once again for a great foodie experience!

Great to sit out on the deck. Awesome wine list. Food was very good, seafood linguine had lots of fish in it, just wasn't the best I've had. Desert was yummy too..
