Do not book your events here. As someone who has played in bands for almost 20 years, and having booked many shows myself over the past 10, I have dealt with my fair share of bar managers. Never have I been met with so much hostility from a manager when I have tried to enter a venue to load in gear. When I arrived the front door was locked. Someone left the venue so I went to walk through the door to meet with the rest of my band who had been loading in our equipment while I found a park. An aggressive woman with brown hair blocked the doorway and began to interrogate me as to why I was trying to enter the venue. I calmly told her that I was in one of the bands who was playing that night and she began to berate me while I stood there and answered the questions she was aggressively asking me. She eventually mumbled under her breath and closed the door in my face. Just prior to this, our friend who had helped us load in was met with the same treatment, the lady yelled at her in the venue and told her to leave, and continued to yell after her as she walked all the way down the stairs to exit the venue. We were both left there stunned and disgusted at the treatment we’d received. If the venue wanted to limit the number of people in the venue before doors open, a simple polite explanation would have been sufficient. Not sure what to do, I called one of my band mates to come down and eventually let me in. 20 minutes after getting inside a man I hadn’t seen before came up to me with the woman I had spoken to earlier and the woman pointed at me and said “this is the guy”. It turns out the couple were the managers and the woman had gone to her husband to complain about how rude I had been to her. I was taken aback, and asked how I had been rude. Still full of anger, she said I had angrily told her that “I was in the band” repeatedly (I said this once only to explain why I was trying to come through the door, and not with anger). She continued to tell me off and not wanting to cause conflict I apologised, even though I had done nothing wrong. She said that sorry wasn’t good enough and that in the 10 years of running the venue she had never had anyone be that rude to her (her husband then tried to settler her, telling her that I had apologised). She was telling absolute lies and I found it very insulting that she would go to complain to her husband about something that never happened. We were then all told off for not arriving earlier to the venue for sound check, however we were instructed by the organisers that only the headline band was to get a soundcheck (we were one of the three support bands), and we had got there as early as we could having come straight from work. It has been a very long time since someone has been that rude to me and I am still dumbstruck as to how she could put the blame on me for this incident. I spoke to several people who played in bands that night who said they had similar run-ins with the same woman. It was a Thursday night and the venue wasn't overly busy so her rudeness is even more unexplainable. If the previous replies to negative reviews here are anything to go by, I know I won't get an apology from the venue's management. I'm sure I’ll be met with a condescending passive aggressive reply telling me that I am completely in the wrong (as well as some new lies no doubt) and that the whole incident was my fault etc etc. But hopefully by leaving this review it will caution others from having anything to do with this place. There are dozens of better venues that actually appreciate the hard work that local bands put in and know that without these musicians their venue would cease to exist. If you’d like to avoid getting served a bunch of aggression from a person on a power trip, best to avoid this place.
Went to see Freddie gibs perform under the pretence of it being an after party between 10pm-1am. He didn’t appear until 1am, performed two songs and left. Contacted laundry to say how disappointing it was for the price paid & how it was quite misleading, was called a Karen by management and was told “that is what an afterparty is”….(the standards must be low if that’s an afterparty) The event was unprofessional and management could care less because they’re the unprofessional ones who will let an artist dip like that after performing two songs & not care, with their response it speak volumes of who runs the club and why there’s so many negative experiences/reviews of this place. Their gaslighting passive aggressive responses to negative google reviews also speaks volumes but is a good read to see just how low this management stoops to. Also not the first time this has happened, a friend paid for a booth for her birthday, m37 was meant to appear and never showed. Seems to be a consistent issue. This place is extremely lacklustre, the vibe is dry, drink prices are all over the place depending on the bartender and how dead inside they are & it’s managed by the rudest most entitled power trip owners who can’t even string a professional response together when confronted with some constructive criticism. 10/10 would avoid, but hey that’s just coming from little old me, Karen. Update to their gaslighting response: The event was advertised from 10pm-1am not 1am-3am. He did not hang around until 3am otherwise other patrons that night would also not be making google reviews with the same complaint. Quote Micheal Lucas’ google review “Come to see Freddie Gibbs but he got scared off by Ben Mei pressing play on his playlist” in regard to the same issue about Freddie Gibbs lack of performance. And yet again your response to constructive criticism falls far short of professional.
Very rude management team would not recommend this bar. I hope they become more professional in handling their customers online. They are currently very unprofessional in their replies and should consider hiring a mature person to handle their social content. Good luck to anyone who wants to deal with them in the future or try to respectfully ask for photos to be taken down. Instead of addressing the issue they escalated it by posting it everywhere causing much distress to my friend. I am happy to remove this review if I see a professional reply to having this issue addressed in the future. This behaviour is unacceptable and best be addressed I hope they see that respect goes both ways. Their account of the situation down below does not reflect the situation and has been falsified. My friend has asked the photographer to not take her photo. The place may have not known that but when asked for the individual photo to be taken down it should be respected instead of mentioning the venue’s photo policy and telling her she should have known about the rules. She is human not an object for them to take photos of and post it up everywhere to torment her after the exchange of messages. They then found her social media accounts and tagged her without permission. It is quite upsetting. They should be embarrassed. Seems like they will not apologise based off the replies to the negative reviews. It really reflects their personality to take extra steps to make her experience worse. She only talked to one person online to ask for her photos to be taken down I do not know why it has become a big deal to them. The person handling these complaints needs to grow up and be professional.
Four of us attended for an event in the upstairs area. The front door staff was friendly but to the point making sure the line moved smoothly and everyone was able to get where they needed (whether entering or exiting). Bar staff was extremely friendly, quick and attentive to patrons. The music was great as well, within one genre there was lots of diversity within the artists performing. Bouncers/ security inside were definitely the highlight. They created an extremely safe environment. An example would be when a guy went in to the female bathroom with a girl the security was right onto it within seconds to ensure that not only the female directly involved was safe, but also for the comfort, safety and security of the other women in the female toilets. When my friend and I left the toilet he also apologised in case he frightened us with the abruptness of it all and ensured we were okay and felt safe . Absolute nicest person in security I’ve ever encountered. Not to mention, so dedicated to his job and ensuring the safety and comfort of all the people there. I wish I had gotten his name so I could give him a shout out for being such a great person but unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to ask and also thank him for being so on top of everything. Thanks to the Laundry Bar for hosting such great events with such a diverse range of artists, and thank you to all the bartenders and security/ bouncers working tonight who made it such a great and safe experience! 100% recommend this place for a night out!
The doormen are an absolute joke. Me and my friend decided to go last night after looking up hip hop nights in Melbourne. We paid for an Uber to get there and left our mates who we'd not seen in a while back at home. We got to the door and the bouncer looked at us and said 'there's too many guys' and ushered us out of the queue with no apology, when there was literally a group of eight girls stood behind us. Could maybe understand if we showed any creepy behaviour or were too drunk, as is often witnessed on nights out, but we'd literally done nothing wrong. At the drop of a hat, a decision on a whim from the bouncer meant we wasted our time and money and it completely ruined our night out. Further still, if that's the attitude they have about guys being in there, it's obviously a sleaze fest. Avoid like the plague. Message to the owner: the queue wasn't too big to be honest, and the sly comment about dress code doesn't hold up. We're not a set of squares that dress in anyway that is not within the 'style' of the club. For all of those looking at these reviews, just scroll through and look at the replies. It's as if they're trying to replicate some Berghain style door policy in an aim to make things seem exclusive. It's honestly embarrassing. They keep saying 'not our type of people'. If people that are genuinely into the music and not there to pose or sleaze are not your type of people, it's not a place I want to be.
Very disappointing experience. Went there after hearing good things about the music. Paid the entry fee. Stayed for an hour or so with a friend. After getting separated at the bar I went to go look for him. Couldn't find him inside so I went to the door and asked the security guard of he'd seen somebody of his appearance leave. Rather than answering my question, the guard decided to forcibly remove me from the premises and informed me that "I was done". Refused to refund my entry fee. I will never go again to this establishment. The hubris and unethical behavior of the staff are very concerning. I implore anybody looking for a good evening in the area to avoid this bar at all costs. Moreover, its important for people to expose such practices by places like these. If others experience similar issues, post them as a review. The owners clearly don't care, so word of mouth on an impartial outlet like google is the best way to get the message out to others about pathetic customer service like this. RESPONSE TO OWNER: No, it was not a misunderstanding. I asked for my entry fee back, he used profanity and refused. What exactly do you think the misunderstanding would be?
This is one of the most stupid night club organisations that I have ever come across. For those that have been told that "Typically people get denied for intoxication, dress code, being rude etc". Do not be fooled! The low self esteem bouncers pick & choose & freestyle excuses to deny you entry depending on how they feel when they look at you. Even when you're dressed appropriately & sober, the bouncers like to stroke their egos by playing childish games. I've been here a few times just to test the waters & each time a revolting experience, sadly due to the staff. Even when they do decide to let you in miraculously on the off chance to witness the fabricated lies about capacity & guestlists, they pass comments like "we're watching you mate" & "David Barrett will ban you". I figured it's about time to review this joint for those who have been mistreated & are too lenient or busy to do the needful. I actually demanded my refund too for this poor service as I exited with excitement to better Brunswick establishments. Guess what? I was denied that too..
I was at laundry bar on Saturday night, I was on the dance floor when I saw a male pin a female up against a wall & kiss her, I figured it was a couple & this was something they did, but then I saw this male go up to a girl that was standing alone & do the same, the female was tapping her hand on his back before finally getting out "no, stop" I took the girl off him & took her outside for some air. I told the security guard & instead of once asking what these women were doing, your security guard Allen instantly asked where he was & if I could point him out, he then kicked the gentalmen out no questions asked, and another security guard Adrian came up to assist. It's very rare to find one security guard who doesn't just put the female at blame & takes charge for the safety of the patrons, let alone two! Massive up to those men, and this venue for having some of the best staff I've ever seen in a venue. Only been to this club about 3 times before, and after that, it has firmly been cemented as one of my "go to's" now!
Terrible security staff who aren’t transparent for the reason for denied entry. Attempted to enter the club with my friends and we were all behaving appropriately. However, once we got to the front of the line the staff member brought his emotions into his role. After being given my friends ID, the staff was rude without using words to explain what he wanted us to do. When we were confused as to whether he wanted us to pose for identification check, that led to removal from the line. Following this, I walked up to this staff member who said “do you want to get kicked out like him?”. Based off that anyone can tell that he had no intention of letting us in. When you’re wanting people to visit your location, having someone working the door is a bad idea. For anyone thinking of visiting on a Saturday @ 11:30pm make sure you’re with a group of girls, and pray the bald guy isn’t upset after failing when hitting on patrons. Maybe be in charge of safety rather than trying to seduce barely legal women.
My friends and I arrived at a reasonable hour (10.30pm) and were rudely turned away as we were advised it was a members only night. No explanation as to how we could become members was provided and were recommended to go to another bar which played completely different music and atmosphere. Would not recommend Laundry at all. *Edited in Response to Owner So the owner of Laundry has advised it is not an objective policy with no clear membership guidelines but purely based on the owner's subjective assessment on appearance and rapport. It is obviously the owner's prerogative and discretion to allow patrons in as they choose to, but why bother advertising and promoting your venue and events if people are turned away at a reasonable hour? Secondly, sure the DJ may have been playing music at the other recommended venue, however as per the review, the atmosphere was completely different and therefore an underwhelming recommendation was provided.
I have no hard feelings or grudges. I went here last Saturday morning at 1:30 AM. This place has a hard time keeping the male and female ratio balanced because of hip hop niche and it's popularity. 80% of females under 25 and attractive. Business is booming to the point they can rudely turn patrons away. It's been years since I seen paying customers treated like this. Being buzzed or overdressed is a reason to get kicked out. I was lucky enough to get granted access by the chubby bouncer after waiting 15 mins. Because I was a foreigner. The next night I wasn't so lucky even though I came an hour earlier. I paid $10 for a bud Weiser. I recommend single men come as early as possible if they're not a regular especially with the cool and wet weather. I liked this setup better than highly rated spots in the CBD.
Was at the bar early last week with friends.and they told us rudely it was for "regulars".A place over the last few years I tell my friends to visit..they so-called security at the door don't even have a manner of approach..they speak to people without respect..if you have to pass a message across to customers.., do it politely...felt so embarrassed..... Re: owner. Please, the security never asked us or referred us to another venue. He told us today was for regulars that we can't go in and we should leave the line. I said I am a regular here. But he was bent on asking us to leave the line and we left. He did that rudely. No Explanation, No Referral The point here is...they need to talk to people with respect. You leave your house, after travelling only to be embarrassed by someone at the door. Too bad.
Second time trying Laundry and will be the last. Didn’t get in because my friend looked ‘too drunk’ despite the fact she could of probably done a backflip. Drugs in the line and even in the smoking area, but my friend is to drunk? Ok. And the best bit is, he greeted us all first and only upon checking my Foreign ID he made the assumption my friend was too drunk. It was her birthday and it ruined the night for her, did we have a problem getting into 2 other places? Of course not. And the girl with the red hair going up and down the line to actually discriminate customers.. if I’m asking you a basic question of why your kicking us out the line, don’t walk away from me because yes. That’s when I get angry. That’s not a real job in the first place and you can’t even do that. So unprofessional.
Its Hip Hop night but the club doesn't play Hip Hop. After 5 Drake songs from his Spotify playlist the DJ told me and my friends that hes not a jukebox when we asked him if he could play some 50 cent - We got kicked out right after asking eventho we were 4 of the last 10 people in the club. I always thought a DJs Job was exactly what a Jukebox does (mixing and playing songs people want to hear) but apparently nowadays a DJ only plays a Spotify playlist without doing anything except pretending to work. We left about 300$ and got thrown out because we asked for a song. They (security) even threw garbage at us when we left customer service = worse than at tiger airlines. Were playing beer pong at home now since we can listen to real Hip Hop here.
A woman organizing a hens night for a friend tried to book a booth, after mentioning that a couple of the gals were pregnant she received an email reply from the owner, Tina Barrett, asking them to look elsewhere because: "You realise Laundry is a Hip Hop and rap club." Instead of graciously ensuring that they are made to feel welcome, this owner sought to exclude those who didn't fit the "Hip Hop/Rap" image of her bar. Called upon it, the establishment chose not to apologise but instead feigned pretense that they were just "looking out for your pregnant friends". Treating grown women like children is offensive. Do yourselves a favour and spend your money on an establishment that doesn't engage in exclusionary bias or gendered discrimination.
The two women at the payment counter discriminated against me without no reason. I was being told in harsh way, to not to touch anything, stand in a line, and when I stepped up to pay on behalf of my friends, they asked me to step back, even though I was the one who was supposed to pay. And when I paid for the entry, the person putting the entry stamp purposely wasted time by asking if I had paid, even after seeing that I paid for the entry. I've never been treated with such rudeness and disrespect before. This incident was definitely on a racist remark, since I never did anything wrong, or like anything at all, upon entering. None of my friends got that treatment.
Really disappointed. Had been here a couple of times and had a good experience, however brought a couple of friends tonight and spent a considerable time in line only to be told that only regulars allowed in. Was clear that we were being discriminated against and not cool. For somewhere that I thought was an inclusive place for everyone to just come and dance, very disappointing. And for the bouncer to behave in such an aggressive manner (towards women) when we questioned on the ‘only regulars’ response, just horrible and frightening. I will now be steering people away from this venue rather than being an advocate. Just a horrible experience. Ruined our night.
Terrible. Went early because it was free entry. After 2 hours, tried to go to the upstairs room (in the same club) but was told we needed to pay entry. Decided it wasn't worth it so went back to where were dancing before and wasnt allowed back in and was told to go upstairs and buy a ticket. Keeping in mind this ENTIRE time we had not left the club, had a drink from the bar in hand, and had checked in a jacket an hour earlier. Security refused to even say anything other than "buy a ticket upstairs". Free entry before 10:30 is a sham, and security were pretty rude. I don't usually mind paying entry for a club but not for something that was already free.
Laundry brings the VIBE! As soon as you hear the bass thumping you just know all your fav hip hop tracks will be played, in an environment where the energy is next level. One of my favourite clubs not just for the music but for the vibe that the crowd brings, sort of like one big family that makes you feel like you’re in the studio seshing with the greats So intimate upstairs and downstairs, giving you the ability to mix it up and meet new people on the same wavelength spitting bars left right and centre. No matter what’s going on in the outside world, Laundry brings some spiritual Boss Up energy that fills the soul on another level. Bless up!
Disrespectful security out the front. My friend and I simply asked the security guard if we needed to get cash out for entry and he replied with “yes, but I can’t do anything for your friend” and pointed at her face. And continued to say that they don’t let anyone in, who is intoxicated. My friend was completely fine and kept making it out to be like she was “too drunk” to be let in. He continued to gaslight us by saying he was looking out for us. I can now see why the other reviews have also complained about the security staff. Disappointing to see that nothing has changed when there is clearly an issue, will not be attending ever again.
I live very close to Laundry, and tore it up here religiously in the late 90's and 2000's. It was the best bar in my hood, with a really open and friendly vibe and mixed/progressive music policy. I booked many a party here in those days. Things changed (and possibly ownership) over time. I'm too old for Culture Kings and Drake but I sometimes have to walk past when the place is open. The bouncers always give my friends and I a "you're not coming in here" glare and stance on when we walk past. They should remove the tickets from themselves. We're just walking home dudes.
Literally walked up for the first bar of the night, was warmly greeted by the bouncer, produced our NSW IDs and then he goes flat and says there's a dress code and we can't get in... despite us being dressed for getting into every other club for the rest of the night. No queue, not packed at all, yet no explanation. Skip this discriminating dump and go for a better place. Don't want my business? No worries mate, bye Felicia. Re Owners response: Just closed on your mums place. Fold up your couch, I mean bed, and be out by tomorrow. Sorry, not sorry...
yo i’ve worked in melbourne clubs for seven years and have never EVER loved a venue and it’s staff more than laundry. they don’t front like other clubs and put their money where their mouth is. as a girl, knowing their security has got my back if a bro touches me is dope. as a rap fan, knowing i’ll hear more than what’s on the spotify top 40 is killer. and finally as a patron, knowing the crowd is a safe space for all colours of the rainbow and the LGBTQI+ community is bloody unbeatable. basically i would give the place a kidney if they needed one x
THE BEST CLUB IN MELBOURNE!!!!!!! Such a vibe every night @ laundry. The staff make u feel so welcome and comfortable. I’ve been going to laundry for the past 3 years every Friday or Saturday (majority of the time, both) & wouldn’t change a single thing, now my parents don’t even ask where I’m going on the weekends they just know I’ll be @ laundry (they even want to come bc of how good I tell them it is). if y’all want a gr8 night full of vibes or tryna get LIT, this is the place to be. FVCK THE REST PARTY WITH THE BEST. #laundryfam
DO NOT EVER ATTEND THIS VENUE! UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR PHONE STOLEN!I've had my mobile phone stolen for the second time at this venue. (within 3 weeks). There is a serious issue with theft at this venue. I have reported this incident to the police, but doubt that this will succeed in any remarkable way.The venue is dodgy. The security is dodgy. Nobody wants to assist in any way in dealing with the hugh issue of theft that occurs constantly in the venue.I WOULD RECOMMEND ALL TO NEVER ATTEND THIS VENUE.
Laundry is such an iconic venue that’s been around for years, it’s a place where you can feel safe and supported. The staff are very accommodating, friendly and welcoming. It’s such a community based hub where you can cultivate great memories and meet some of the most amazing people. You can always rely on Laundry Bar for a good time and it never disappoints, if you’re looking to twerk the night away. With an amazing roster of hip hop djs and the nicest staff out there, you will not be dissatisfied.
Firstly I have to say I have been coming for years. I am a fiercely loyal patron that loves the vibe and positive energy this place offers. Looking at the comments it makes me sad to see the haters go out of their way to give bad reviews because they have either been turned away for being heavily intoxicated, or feel too entitled when the red carpet isn't pulled out because the place is maxed out or just plain bad behaviour. But hey thats the internet for ya. Keep doing good laundry management.
Pinhead bouncer told me not to look him in the eyes, pump faked at me, went on a power trip, I dont blame him cuz he was like 5'7. Yelled at me for having a foriegn id then let me in when the girls I was with met me at the door, changed his attitude real quick. sink a bunch of money into a fine establisment and pay a group of emotionally insecure men to stand out the front. basically the club is fine but the bouncers might go on a power trip if ur a couple inches taller than them....lol weirdos
Very rude and quite spiteful staff, for someone who managers a buisness I don't know how they got there jobs. Honestly if your job is to work with people, it might help if you liked people. Whoever the owner is I'd be very worried about the complete absence of customer service employed by your staff, the god complex some showed was quite remarkable. They are the face of your business and patrons will cast a view of your business corresponding to how they were treated by your staff.
Worst night club I've been to in years. Terrible vibe, bad music, it even smells terrible in there! Outside of everything else there was a ridiculous amount of drug deals/ consumption. I've only been there once (never again) but there is no doubt that Laundry is just another pseudo-ironic trend bar in Melbourne. Oh- and thanks to the door people for pretending you couldn't understand my friends accent. That racism is definitely what prompted me to leave this review.
Me and my friend had a lot of fun last night. We got let in nearing the end of the night in casual clothes which we were worried about. Greeeeat music! The only problem we had was the smokers area being so packed you could barely move, but we arrived pretty late and its standard across most places. The bouncers werent rude but they werent nice either, typical bouncers idk why everyones so shocked. Anyway it was fun and we enjoyed it.
Security are quite picky which I understand they should be to an extent to keep everyone safe but I felt they were overly picky. One of the line staff was nice but not the other. Decided not to go in but hopefully will be better if I go next time. I was pretty much sober when I experienced this so I have quite a fair account of my experience. Not saying I’d never go again but first impressions aren’t that great.
Lost my jacket when I went out, spoke to Daniel the manager out the front and he gave me his details to get in contact with him the next day if it came up. He also let me and my friend back in to find it (which we did). Not only that, the bouncers are friendly - something that other clubs can learn from. Excellent customer care, wild tunes and overall a great night out. Now one of my favourite clubs to hit up.
Met the love of my life here about three years ago now needless to say, I love this place, and have stayed from open til close on more than one occasion. Good performers, good mixes, good vibes. All you need is a touch more old school hip hop and rnb strewn between all the bangers and this would be the best dance spot in Melbourne. Bar staff and door staff have also always been super lovely and helpful.
Couldn't enter because we were wearing suits post races. Unbelievable treatment from the door staff. Just wanted to have some fun. You guys should be ashamed. Good luck. Response to owner's response: Thanks for the standard response. Sorry we were wearing suits after a day out. PS Hip Hop and Rap are my favourite genres, and we were there to enjoy it with our wives. Have some respect.
THE WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER! My friend was waiting on the line near the door and the security guard asked him to go on the side which my friend did but the security guard was biggggg and even tho my friend moved on the side he could not pass then he pushed aggressively my friend and I! How can you expect to have a club when you got such unprofessional people working for you!
This place is so dead. The crowd is pretty weak and the Mc keeps trying to sound American. It's so cringy. Edit: I don't even have a Facebook linked to this account so not sure how you decided I was a promoter. It just shows you can't actually defend what I'm saying so need to resort to pretending I work for another club. Never have. Your club was just garbage. Simple as.
1) The air circulation system could use a major overhaul.... What's the point of having fans if you're not going to turn them on. 2) The female bartenders we OK but the dude with a black hat....rude...too rude to be working in a heavy customer oriented environment like a that. 3) The facilities need to be kept clean...at least at an acceptable level for a night club.
Everytime we've been there it's been amazing except last night. The security last night were absolutely disgraceful, we didn't appreciate them yelling in our face when we asked a simple question. The way they portrayed themselves was very aggressive and not inviting at all. Laughing and making jokes about other people. It's disgusting , a complete abuse of power.
Hands down best spot to vibe at! Laundry bar has really taken care of us treated me and my friends like family over the past years and i would 100% recommend to everyone! If you enjoy listening to hip hop, trap and afro beats you will enjoy it here. I cant wait for this weekend ahead because i know i will be there at Laundry! fvck the rest party with the best .
VERY rude staff, especially the short brunette bartender--she had such a bad attitude. Perhaps that's their "thing" as other reviewers have also mentioned the terrible staff attitude. Very disappointing experience. Music is ok. No need to dress up. Patrons are your early to mid-twenties types. Do not go here if you want to be treated with basic respect.
Laundry Bar is probably the most racist bar in Melbourne. Myself and my mate went to have a good time and we were told that we can't get without a guest list. However, all the other white guys got in comfortably without a guest list. Obviously we were not let in because we are black. The bouncers were horribly rude. I am appalled completely by this bar.
Having being an music artist , I've performed here on several occasions and the venue brings the best vibes for all patrons, well set out floors and smokers area with all staff very helpful and friendly! Good to hire for an event or just a night out with friends! Get down there!

One of the most fun, inclusive and safest bars and clubs I've had the pleasure of attending. What a great melting pot of all races, genders and orientations and such a awesome vibe. The staff are friendly, the liquor selection is great (serving top shelf as basics) and the music is great! What more could you ask for a Hip Hop club!
Came on a saturday night and were told unless we’re “regulars” that we couldn’t come in. And then the guy behind us from Brisbane we had been talking with in line got in, no problem. (We live down the block.) Looked like an outright racist policy. Very disappointed, won’t ever support this bar. Vote with your feet for equality.
I love this place.the staff are welcoming and helpful, the venue has a great party vibe and the D.J’s are lit. The line can get a little Long but that’s because it’s where you want to be and you know the place will be pumping inside.love coming here for a drink and a dance in a safe and fun environment. Would recommend <3
This place does not appear to have a particularly inclusive or equal door policy, especially on a busy weekend nights. Waiting in a super long queue on Saturday night I saw a number of white people invited to skip the queue and, at the same time, a number of people of colour turned away. Won't visit again.
A friend of I lined up together to be told the boss declined entry for us without explanation twice despite the fact that, it was my first time in that club. I was dumbfounded by the lack of professionalism and fair dinkum attitude that would be expected from a club you’re experiencing for the first time.
Love this venue with a great vibe and live international DJ’s every week on the first floor. It’s awesome you can book booths for special occasions for you and your party. Or just chill downstairs bar for drink on the way home . Staff are super friendly and no attitude. The cocktails are amazing also :-)
10/10 music. Have loved coming here. Drinks are priced really well and they even have tap beer which I was surprised about for a club. This is probably my go-to for a night out. Although, having the option for freedom of movement between upstairs and downstairs would be something that would be good
Ha heyyy’ wonderful place, really kicked back and a welcoming crowed. At first I was a little intimidated by the people until I got welcomed into a mosh pit of energetic people. The music is thriving as the culture relates what’s hot these days! The drinks are cheap and the time there is worth it!
the bar manager and security went above and beyond, my friend was feeling really unwell and they were determined to make sure she was alright and got home safely. They stayed with her outside of the bar and stopped creepy passers-by from approaching her. Thank you so much laundry staff!
Freshest venue, all of the staff are so friendly and look after everyone. DJ’s are on point! Always playing the best music, venue itself is cool, 2 levels and smokers. Good vibes only here, If you’re looking for somewhere to go out in Melbourne go to Laundry it’s the absolute spot.
Our first visit was pretty cool. Great vibe, awesome bar staff swinging all your fave drinks! The bouncers however were too rough on our last visit. We got to the door and the bouncer looked at us and said 'there's too many guys' and ushered us out of the queue. Bit disappointing.
Rad joint for hiphop/DJ gigs. Was here for the DMC champs in August '19 - place was fine, drinks price average, didn't encounter any of the bad reports from other reviews - but this was a paid gig. Perhaps trying to get in free is a different story to just paying for entry.
Really crowded but drinks are heaps expensive. Alright music, expected a bit more RnB. The shots were $11 and mixers are $18 and there are only a few choices. If it were cheaper and more cost effective, I'd give it 5 stars. Bathroom did not have enough toilet paper.
One of the most fun, inclusive and safest bars and clubs I've had the pleasure of attending. What a great melting pot of all races, genders and orientations. The staff are friendly, the liquor selection is great (serving top shelf as basics) and the music is great!
Laundry bar is the best hip hop club in Melbourne!! The crowd is always super cool and I love the music so much.. The dj's are always banging out the best hip hop .. It is a super affordable night out also... My girlfriend's and I always have heaps of fun here..
Do not go here!!!! Not a place to go, I went with a gf paid $20 entry and there was only a few people inside. When we walked out and asked for a refund because we weren’t staying we were refused and the person at the front was rude saying what could they do
The staff are wonderful and security is also very friendly . I love laundry its my fave club to go in melbourne not pretentious at all have an amazing policy on making people feel comfortable from all parts of the community.. keep doing what you are doing ✌
Owners make you feel like family! And the bartenders.....dope chicks and chill dudes. music is a lil mix of old school and new. Djs that spin the best hiphop all night long. (Till 3am) Be sure to book a booth cuz the dance floors are always packed! …
Amazing vibes on thursdays, fridays and saturdays! if you love hip hop and RnB this is literally the place to be in melbourne! Staff are also fantastic and take care of the customers, as well trained staff should! ill definitely be back every weekend!
Security is disgusting and shady, they were hitting on my friend. kicked my friend out for no reason, asked why and they just shrugged say they have no answer or reason lmao. Actual joke, the 8 of us won’t be coming back. Have some class, scumbags.
Laundry, a nightclub that caters to the lowest stratum of Melbourne's socioeconomic hierarchy, stands as a disheartening testament to be avoided at all costs. Within its confines, one encounters an appalling gathering of individuals who
Went to this venue to see 2 amazing aspiring Aussie artists fresh from Vic. Vaye.k and dooz.au The place was rocking, melbourne vibes, real rhymes and a proper atmos. Thanks heaps I started by spotifying both of these emerging artists!
Went to the event on 420 night, I am a medical cannabis patient - security snatched a joint from me in the smokers area - thats totally illegal - Australian cannabis patients can consume cannabis anywhere in public that has a smoking
Great hip hop bar...gets way too crowded on the weekends...takes forever to order a drink...lots of young people...great for dancing and meeting people though. Not pretentious at all. Hate the $10 cover after 11pm but hey it is a club
Laundry bar is the place to be with the best rnb and hip hop DJs spinning all the great tracks. Great vibe, awesome bar staff swinging all your fave drinks! It's my home away from home every week. It's the number 1 club in Melbourne!
Wasn't much atmosphere on a rainy Saturday night, but to have the soap and sanitiser empty at 10pm, an hour after opening, is pretty disgraceful. I have no doubt this could be a good club if the circumstances were different
Nice club if you're here for RnB. Extremely well air conditioned so no need to worry about getting sweaty. Shots are a big scam but buying drinks at a club is a mistake anyway. Two levels but both floors are the same music.
Every time I have been to Laundry my friends and I have always been so welcomed by the staff there. Not only is it amazing music and vibes, but the crew always go above and beyond to make us and others feel safe. Love it!!!
My partner was cornered and mugged by the bouncer at this venue. Management did not follow up or take action against this bouncer. Please do not support this venue if they do not support the well being of their patrons.
Would not recommend this place. Very disappointing treatment from security and bouncers. Shocked to see so many similar experiences and reviews - there’s obviously been an issue with the security and bouncers for years.
Bartenders and booth girls are incredibly sweet! The new sound system is super cool and the music is always on point. Security and management are super helpful and easy to talk to which all makes for a great night out.
General admin line = guest list only? Classe RE: owner's response - perhaps tell your door staff this so they also understand your system and don't mislead people and waste their time. Kudos for responding at least.
Got in the queue and the bouncer said "sorry only for members" and the girl just in front of me non member got in. Just to say if you are over 30 or not dress with crop top and mini skirt you are not getting in.
Worst club in melbourne! Came in at 10pm from long way with friends and got told that we can’t come in!! Because we didn’t have a list? Such embarrassment ! Such a bad Managemnet and rude security!! …
Incredible venue. Staff are great. Special shout out to Jesse who was really helpful setting me up with their state of the art DJ gear for the RMIT AND Deakin cheer and dance afterparty! Cheers DJ Dekdrum :)
One of the best spots in Melbourne. Hands down! Its all bout the music, fashion, culture, people(no matter what color). Everyone gets respected the same. Awesome staff. Awesome Vibes. Aint no complaints.
I've had nothing but good experiences at Laundry. Great drinks, excellent DJs and a real community feel. Friday and Saturday nights are absolutely packed, so best to get in early to avoid disappointment!
We asked for some compensation for an event didn’t happen and they were pretty nice about it. Read other comments, had good laugh just reading the replies. Have to say I kinda like the attitude …
Ordered a espresso martini and it didn’t even have coffee in it. Music is the only good thing about this club, drinks are extremely over priced will never come back. Talk about a boring club to be at.
this is my home, there has never been a place in melbourne i feel more welcomed, safe and comfortable. music is 20/10, and there’s always a sense of community there! love love laundry, yall family
Great venue, amazing staff really looked after us. Security was always there when We needed. Staff are really welcoming. Music kept us dancing all night! Would go again! Would recommend.
Always looked after when we go there, such an amazing bunch of staff and the crowds always good. Oh and the bouncers dance but look out for you as well so it’s all just a lot of fun tbh
This place no very nice. No facility to clean my garments, even worse of an establishment to drink at. Save your time, money and self respect and book a party at the local McDonalds
Its a great place to go to fridays, great music(mostly R&B and old school hip hop) but it could do with a little makeover. Its not the cleanest of places but music makes up for it.
As someone who has lived in Melbourne their whole life, you wont find a better place for international and local talent in hip hop and DJ's. Oh and the Bar staff are awesome..
Great staff and bar! My friends and I have had many nights here and they’ve always been excellent! :) The DJs there always know exactly what to play! Thanks Laundry!
I always have the best time at laundry! The music is lit, the staff are amazing and I always feel I can be fully myself and accepted! 10/10 can’t praise it enough!
Maddie was the most attentive bartender, she made sure we were always looked after and made us feel so special I 100% recommend this place just from her service!
Great music! Very rough bouncers. Guys dancing on "stage" downstairs were constantly pulled off by the staff just because they wanted girls only. …
7 dollars to put my jacket away, after 20$ entry and there is a total of like 10 people here, left after one drink and 10 minutes worst $20 of my life.
Top reggae band, very authentic. It's a very welcome spot to grab a bear and chill out listening to a good song. I will be back for sure, no doubt!
Was good, same as any other Club. Not a lot of space to dance or move around freely. But other than that still a nice place to go get ya groove on!
The music is always good, the people are the best and the staff are friendly, make you feel welcomed and safe. Always have a good time at Laundry!
One of the best clubs in Melbourne/ Fitzroy; great food, drinks and service. Would recommend for anyone trying to have a enjoyable night out.
Kogz gig was good here. Good bar staff Perfect size venue. Really like going here for gigs.
Service: 4
Atmosphere: 4
I would have gave them all five stars but the people who I came to see canceled and they didn't tell anyone till we got there.
The place was pretty good so were the bar staff but the security was a joke and so is the manager, cant even reply to a email
