A boutique supermarket chain. The Kew branch Friendly enough staff No self serve checkouts here always fresh produce & freshly squeezed orange juice you will find things like sauces from overseas supplier you don't see every wear that was the pro's now for the cons the price's are on the very higherside of the scale same items can be found @ Woolworths & Coles for much less they use to have a descent deli section but it has fallen in both quality & especially service. Eg. Wanted to purchase half of a whole piece of Berliner fleischwurst a German style pork ham was told I couldn't because there was a little old leftover end piece already opened which was no longer than my thumb was told would have to purchase the old dried up piece before she could cut up the whole one as per managements orders i asked how much for the whole piece was told around $42.00 as a customer I should not be forced to buy an old dried up end that should have been thrown away just so i can purchase the much much larger section that I required don't understand the logic so would end up with not quite 1/2 + 1 old dried up piece Won't even go into cross-contamination of food so i thank her all the same whent to where I left my trolley quietly Put all of my purchases back & left the store to go & do my shop @ Woolworths just 50 metres away. ☹️ From now on will go to pedimonties in North Fitzroy very similar products @ way better prices.

Hello:We were given a lovely compliment from one of your employees. She told me we always have Americans come in, they are very nice people, always very pleasant and always with a big smile. Thank you for this. Now. Your meat department is wonderful! A tall gentleman from Iran helped me too, he helped me choose the best meats, as I don't know about which pieces to buy. He went and got me a cart to do my shopping. And then there is Katie! What a lovely person, remembered me from the phone. Very helpful, and for once, unlike other places we have shopped, KNEW WHAT WAS IN STOCK. Knew all the prices, most helpful. One feels very rushed and pushed on the phone. Not once did I get that from Katie. I can't remember the other young lady, in the meat dept., she had black hair. She was lovely too. Most helpful! This particular young lady, helped me make my choice whether to shop at this store. I now shop at Leo's. We sometimes forget those whom make the difference! And they are our employees, they are those that make the difference. They are those that are the asset of the company! Thanks ladies and gentleman. Keep up the great work! Sincerely, L. R. Good 'specialty' supermarket. Don't buy your regular groceries here, unless you know your pricing well (and can spot a special price), as most items exceed the prices in old Woolies and Coles. But, specialty or hard to get items, then this is more like 'Oasis' in Murrumbeena where you can get all types of international food lines i.e. mexican, italian, thai, spanish, english, in addition to some lovely 'local'/Australian specialty producers products. Think delicious horseradish from Tasmania, breads from any artisan bakers, and organic tofu and tempeh made in Melbourne. There is a deli section with a reasonable selection of deli goods (not large like at Sth Melb market), a specialty cheese section, fruit & veg, meat and their own bakery (although don't bother with their faux 'french' pastries like chocolate croissant as its just bread with chocolate - not pleasant at all). If you are in the area and looking for inspiration then take the time to wander the very well stocked, and clean, aisles. Nice store. Helpful staff always. Plentiful parking in carpark. Recommend.

If you're an Aldi shopper, this place is not for you. You will pay more than the other guys for food here, but if you want the best meat, vegetables, cheese or chocolate, this is your Mecca. The smell of freshly squeeze oranges pervades that air as you walk past the registers into the well laid out and thoughtfully stocked store. The sounds of Italian opera in the back ground makes the shopping experience a pleasure as you mix with the well healed in suburban clientèle. The meat is second to none and the range of dark chocolate will not leave you wanting for more. If you want something special for your next dinner party or just think "screw it, I deserve good food" you need to try Leos.

  • andrew Timmerman

Best* (* below) fancy supermarket in the state, Italian owned, so much quality food, my God the deli alone...and a second deli just for cheese! ask for samples, they're more than happy. Etc etc, so much goodness.. *but: for everything regular they have that can be found in any old supermarket- go buy at any old supermarket. You'll save a great deal of cash. Of course disregard my * if you're silver spooned in the mouth and prefer paying more at a place you know you won't have to brush shoulders with any poor people at..but i warn you I might be there and the posh seem more frightened of me than they are of homeless people

Extremely rude. I have been shopping here since '99. Came in on christmas eve, was one minute past the bottle shop closing time. I explained that i needed a particular bottle for a gift that is only sold at Leos. I can understand if they must enforce their times for licensing reasons but this nasty young checkout woman just did not care at all and seemed to enjoy denying me entry. She treated me like i was worthless. Hopefully she was the exception as usually Leos staff are very friendly. My weekly shop will now be at woolworths.

  • R Chee

Leo's a wonderful supermarket that sells a wide variety of fine European food. For example I love the various balsamic vinegars available. They also stock a good variety of Asian spices and baking flours. The cheese section is also very well stocked with specialty European varieties. I would recommend the fresh squeezed orange juice that's bottled daily on premise. I often go there and wander the aisles looking for something new to try. They also have a good Christmas department when Yuletide comes along.

  • george hk

Absolutely brilliant, all Mediterranean style of food, OK it is high end quality so be expected to pay. Like i have said before what is expensive (what is expensive to you maybe not to someone else) when i want something different i come here, i shop here weekly as i have got my favorite store in kew now its like a one stop shopping center for me. We get all our Christmas hampers from here at Christmas time for our staff clients & family its great a store that we can get everything a bit unusual

  • Scott Penny

Well its way over priced compared to anywhere else ! But hey if you make a million doallars a year no probs..... Inside fact the owners and management are ridiculously rude and 2 faced..... I would rather shop at a place where the staff actually know what they are talking about..... My recent experience was last weekend and they had a tasting of wines on. I asked staff if they could rexonmend it and they said we dont know and aren't aloud to taste products that we sell ! Leo's no more..

  • Russell Costello

Leo's is fantastic! It's not the cheapest or particularly big. However it has the type of quality and unusual produce not found in ordinary supermarkets. For example, great range of sourdough breads (like Irrawarra), rolls and crisp bases for savouries, a huge range of local and imported cheese and deli products and a diversity of pickles, condiments, etc etc. Excellent if you're looking for quality stuff for a gathering. There are only full-service checkouts and adequate parking.

  • The Grigg

This place is full of a great selection of gourmet foods - the selection of fine cheeses and meats in the deli is worth experiencing. I love the new range of Simply Organic herbs and spices which I first discovered at Trader Joe's in New York. This is not a place to do your weekly shopping unless you can afford to do so, but rather to buy those indulgent items for special occasions. If they built a Leo's cafe, I would visit this place weekly.

  • Alex Baker

Leos, Or 'the pokies for foodies' surely in the top 10 greatest money reducing establishments in melbourne! Go in for some bread, leave $150 down, high on the possibilities of sugar, spice and all wonderful things nice... grumble the next day about your lack of self control, you will be drawn back next time because at the end of the day quality is outstanding and convenicnce is king...now where are my car keys, just going to get some milk..

  • Lavinia Gordon

Large range of slightly expensive products , alot of which you would struggle to find elsewhere. Lots of staff, who are generally very helpful. Lady on the cheese counter patiently helped me find the cheese that I couldn't remember the name of and didn't describe very well other than to say that it was soft cheese. Good bread, meat and chocolate. Worth visiting regularly if you are a local, or make a visit to get something a bit special.

  • Mikey G

A food wonderland! I came here to try and find my favourite mustard which I haven't been able to find in Melbourne. I found it at Leo's: they have almost 80 different varieties of mustard! The ranges of cheese and paté are divine, the produce looks fresh, and theres a big range of spectacular-looking gourmet meats. The staff were very friendly. Overall, this is easily the best gourmet supermarket I've ever been to in Australia.

  • Holly R

A really cool alternative supermarket. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, gluten/dairy/nut intolerant, seeking organic options, or just wanting to widen your diet, this is a very interesting place to shop. Most of the prices are pretty reasonable for what you’re getting. There’s a lot of items here you won’t find anywhere else, certainly not for the same price. A must visit if you’re in the area.

  • Matt Patchava

Extremely rude and sarcastic staff. They rolled their eyes at me when I asked whether they had refrigerated sauerkraut and were not willing to help at all. Some of the staff here are very nice but the two older, bogan looking men were disgraceful. They also had no wild tuna, only farmed (and plenty of it too). Farmed fish isn't exactly "fine food" so they're not really living up to the name.

  • Paul & Annie

C’mon Leo’s. This new “let’s wrap individual items in styro and plastic wrap” isn’t gonna fly. Any good we do by buying organic will be exponentially undone with all your unnecessary waste. We’ve loved your store and shopped here for a decade. The big range of nice brands and great produce gets you 5 stars. But the waste isn’t good for anyone. #VoteWithYourDollars #JustDontBuyWaste

  • Lance Briggs

Leo's is Leo's. I used to live up the road, and moved away 15 years ago. So dropped in for old times sake. Leo's carries quality products, up market, gourmet great for special meals everyday. Special taste treats and a Cheese section with a specific manager in charge of buying and selling to the customer. Meat section is quality, not cheap cuts but quality.

  • dugald sinclair

Great range of items in a well run store but the customers are boring stuck up types who know the price of everything. Daughters have the same bob cut as mummy and smile about the sane amount as they ignore everyone trying to get past them in the isles. The men wear red sweaters and calf length shorts as they check off their shopping lists.

  • Nellerichal Sreeju

For a smaller Independent ones you could find a lot more variety of things. If you're a chocolate freak they have a lot of nicer chocolates than the supermarkets. Although I couldn't find the nut meat which I was after, then again it might have been something which is not popular. The staff is super helpful and friendly :)

  • Amy Chan

I did not have good experience with this store. I took a photo of the product which I don’t know what it is for and want to find out from my friends. The staff told me that photo is now allowed but not in a very polite way. I said sorry. When check out, the counter staff was not so friendly either! A bit disappointed!

  • Joel Pagliuca

I left a review a few years ago and seems like things got worse.. for a place like this, the deli staff should be trained a little better. Asking for freshly sliced meats or grated cheeses isn’t a big ask, they can do it but maybe can’t be bothered cleaning the machines? I will now go somewhere else.

  • Mark Crosling

A truly unique boutique styled grocer that clearly differentiates itself from the majors. Want something a little bit different or esoteric, then you'll probably find it at Leo's. Service is excellent and if you can't find what you're looking for, just ask and chances are they'll get it in for you.

  • David Lin

This original Leo's is a Kew Institute. A little pricey, but you can find lots of gourmet produces in Leo's. Rest assured the quality and freshness. If you want to find something different in your major supermarkets. Leo's definitely the place to go visit. You'll find FINE food and drinks there!

  • Larry Smolic

I want to buy everything in there. It's really really hard to remain focused... But the cheese goes well with the jam, which goes well with the wine. Then of course you now need the salami. Oh, don't forget the crackers. Hmmm... That bread stick looks good. May as well get the olive oil. Ugh!

  • Somebody's Daughter Somebody's Son

Always great for boutique items fine wine the best cheese imaginable you can do things on a budget you just have to stick to what you need. Otherwise if you're lucky Leo's is a foodies dream come true it's the best oil the best coffee beans items you wont find, its delicatessen is a dream!

  • Marcel Bennett

I love Leo's, fantastic range and great service. If they could reduce the price of common items to equal the other supermarkets I'd only shop there exclusively. As it is, I can only afford to go there any time I want something special. But I do love shopping there and wish I could more!

  • Nick

I used to come here more often but have switched to IGA in Balwyn for their superior deli. The deli selection at Leo's is woeful compared to what it used to be a few years ago and the staff (well at least the one I spoke to this afternoon) have no real knowledge of what they are selling

  • Anna Papa

Many things l bought recenlty had expired. Expensive I was charged twice for the same item and never received a refund. Deli employees ignore customers and talk amongst themselves. Does have many international products you cant find anywhere else tho. Not my favourite supermarket.

  • Tony Mole

Small supermarket with an interesting range of non-mainstream products. Staff who know their stuff too. Not cheap - but when you're after special things done right, it is a worthy choice. Hours seem better than Boccaccio option. Still kicking goals. Why bother with Woolworths?

  • B Da

Great selection of items especially the cheeses, alot of imported items which you can find at the general supermarket however I would mark it down a star due to the safe items being sold in woolworths for $1 cheaper. Also pick up a bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice =)

  • Raj M

Leo's have variety. Quality can be inconsistent at times. I was overcharged at least 3 times and was refunded. They are slightly overpriced as compared to other supermarkets in the vicinity, but having said that, they probably have the best mediterranean stuff.

  • Thea tF29 Groom

This has got to be the best Supermarket. I can get things here that I just can’t find at “regular” supermarkets. All sorts of European foods & delicacy’s. And their prices are actually good since their foods are luxury items. This my fav supermarket. ❤️

  • Fiona MacHutchison

Always fabulous, been shopping there for at least 20 years. Wonderful range of goods and lots not found at other supermarkets. Staff lovely and extremely helpful, and always say "hello" with a smile and an offer of help if one has one's hands full.

  • Mark J

This place is as much a tourist attraction as a supermarket. Beautifully designed and laid out. With nice latin music playing most of the time. Friendly and efficient staff. They have the finest of foods and wines and not that pricey considering.

  • Christopher Blyth

I choose to buy my groceries at Leo's partly because I think the quality is better than Cole's or Woolworths, but also because they are prepared to carry stock of a much wider range than the others. I really want to support them for this policy.

  • Oliver

Leo's is a gourmet-style grocery store and has a lot of very high quality products. I would gladly shop here for all of my groceries if I could, but it is a touch too expensive to warrant it. You certainly get what you pay for, though.

  • Joshua Bond

Has a lot of foodstuff you won't find elsewhere. Many foods that my Italian grandparents used to get me when I was younger. Also has the smaller T2 packs of tea, which you would usually have to travel into the city or Doncaster to get.

  • Sarah Downing

Such a beautiful shop. Really great fresh produce, beautiful meats, and really nice range of high quality products. Great beer and wine selection too. Food always a bit pricy here but love shopping here for a treat! Really recommend.

  • EdWAARRD P

Nice products, great range, brilliant staff. Then why is this a 3 star review, well, because it's just too damn expensive. Every time I go there I'm delighted by happy staff and quality products but later shocked at the price tag.

  • Amimah Amit

I can find the best French Vanilla slices that are light and luxurious, here at Leo's. It's a smaller branch than the one at Hartwell. But all the same carrying great quality goods that you'd normally not find anywhere else.

  • Mike Purcell

Small but has everything you might want. Hard to get and fashionable food items (e.g. chipotle at the moment) managed well. Good selection. Surprisingly extensive fromaggie. Well run premium supermarket with matching prices.

  • George Torouno

A Retro feel Boutique Supermarket that stocks items that the Major Supermarkets don't. All the products are of premium quality. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Must try it once to experience what Leos has to offer.

  • Kristina P

I wish this was my everyday supermarket.. If was only a little cheaper. They always have such a great and interesting variety of international products. The fruit and vegetables are also so fresh and visually appealing.

  • Postcode 3000

Bring your cheque book. LOL Nice variety of products. Some premium items at premium prices. We visit to pick up occasional item. Not our regular supermarket. We’re not into spending that much money for regular items.

  • West End Art Space

Very good store, fresh produce, nice helpful staff. Personally I prefer Leo's in Glen Iris as I'm used to visiting and shopping often. It was great visiting and shopping here too. Plenty of car parking spaces too.

  • Alexandra Murphy

Lovely experience. Ambient lighting- no harsh fluorescent lights like other supermarkets. Butchers trolley in the veg section, lots of wood etc makes it feel v homely. Expensive items but speciality and quality.

  • David

This place is so outrageously expensive it makes Coles profit gouging look cheap. You will pay three times the price for virtually everything here. Go down to IGA in Richmond and save yourself a heap of cash.

  • Dominic White

If you want something exotic and don't want to travel to the other side of town then this is the place to go. If I had the money I would shop here all the time. Oh and the cheese selection...phenomenal

  • Vicki

The cashier, a young lady, was so kind and helpful when I asked about a particular product. She went out of her way to find out about it and led me to it. This is what service is all about. Thank you!

  • Shark Hunter

Purchased some pasta from this store. Had a problem with the quality and after reporting it they provided a refund. Honest and genuine. The food is mostly high quality and fresh orange juice is great.

  • Bryan McGlade

An up market supermarket. If you are after a particular brand this place is worth trying. I find the store cramped and difficult to navigate. Popular and busy. Big and often full car park or front...

  • monika cutri

Will always find something unique in here. One star down for cakes section. Unfortuantely, the Bohemia vanilla slice was taken off the shelves and the rest of the range is limited in variety.

  • Evan Keane

For standard stuff that you'd get in Woolies/Coles it will be more expensive here, but it has a wide selection of sometimes-rather-fancy goods that you won't find elsewhere. Very nice place.

  • Sagir HD

Great selection despite inexperienced, unfriendly, antisocial staff. Always best to know exactly what you're after and where to find it. Otherwise, be prepared for blank stares and shrugs.

  • Tom

Great supermarket selling lots of superb quality items you can't find anywhere else. Great cheese, wine and freshly roasted beans from a number of famous coffee roasters in Melbourne.

  • Nadia Fedorenko

I remember it being better many years ago I called in here recently and I must say the one at Heidelberg is set out a lot better. This one has an awkward setup but worth calling into.

  • Char Weeks

Great variety, fresh superior quality meats, fish, fruit and vegetables. Leo's Kew, especially on James' watch, makes you feel welcome. We love the helpful staff and friendly service

  • Tim Sproule

A really great alternative to the big 2 supermarkets. Has more boutique products and their selections of cheeses and deli food is fantastic. You pay for it, but it is well worth it.

  • FoodReviewsByZ

Great variety from the more independent companies and there is finer foods available compared to your regular supermarket so expect a price increase. Good rich atmosphere.

  • Anne Oberin

Leo's is my favourite go to for meat, fresh fruit and vegetables and has a great range of general supermarket products. Their amazing range of chocolate is fabulous. A+++

Love Leo's for something special or a little different. Good place to find those items you can't find at other supermarkets. Can get quite expensive thou.

  • Samuel Fewster

Not as good as the Leo's in Heidelberg but they've sure packed as much as you conceivably could into the space. Good place for finding unusual groceries.

  • Peggy Cochrane

Great cheese selection. At this time of year there is wonderful Christmas room full of festive foods from all over the world. Good service from staff.

  • Andrew Roper

OK, but stuggling now, getting tired and much higher pricing than the national chains. Spent $30 on a cake for a birthday and it was stale. Not happy.

  • Lindy Singleton

Awesome fresh fruit & veggies and friendly staff. Extremely clean & tidy for a supermarket. You could eat of their floor. Love shopping at Leos …

  • Zoe B

Parking on site and plenty to choose from! Organics available and a multiplicity of your favourite items in store. Lovely staff and value for money.

  • Fit Bug

Fantastic fine foods! Staff are amazing and helpful. Blown away by the selection of christmas food... but no doubt awesome all seasons of the year.

  • Barbara Cargill

Good selection of local and imported lines. Not the cheapest but if you're a foodie, it's the place to go. Just watch use-by dates.

  • It

Lots of special good food products.. nice pleasant staff and lovely shopping. Prices commensurate w the experience.. stiff IMHO.

  • I Nala

A great supermarket to get fine foods you can't find at the bigger chains. Prices are reflective of quality and limited supply.

  • Jennifer Copley

Expensive, very expensive, but worth it. I found Leo's great in the middle of Covid because you could have fancy food at home.
