The previous reviews regarding the security guards are obviously staff and not legitimate reviews. The 2 security guards are notoriously bad, I no longer even bother going to this Liquorland, there is a BWS just 50metres away and a Duncan’s across the road- go there. I live around the corner and witness both security guards being rude on a daily basis. The short one, I don’t know how he even has a job. Upon reporting him to Wilson’s security they advised they would provide him further training a year-+ later and there has clearly been no further training or improvement in his attitude or behaviour. Me and my partner went here one afternoon, both showing our ID where he demanded my partner stand in a particular spot, after checking his ID- like he couldn’t remember he just checked his ID. After a bit of back and fourth I asked for his details so I could report him, he refused, I asked to speak to a manager he would not get one for me. A month or so later I had friends over we went and got drinks, they went to Liquorland whilst I said I no longer go there, unless they get rid of the current security guards 5 minutes later they came back having experienced a similar situation as to what I advised, we all went to BWS where we were welcomed and received excellent customer service.
I was mistreated by the security guard (#6) by no reason. My friend(28y) and I (33y) entered the store around 10pm. Without even buying anything we were asked our IDs, she showed hers and I showed my drivers license. He didn't even bothered to look my ID and asked my passport, which by law I am not supposed to be carrying around, even though while I was looking for a picture I had of it, he started screaming at my friend saying that she could not walk around the store untill I had shown it to him. I told him that he could not treat my friend like that, and out of no where he threated to call the cops on me. Then I said - what r u gonna tell them?? Because obviously he was the one against the law there, raising his voice and asking for something I had alredy provided. I have the feeling that he is from one of those countries with many laws against womans, judging by his accent, so his values triggered his actions towards us. I will do what I can to report them and have their staff trained to understand the RSA and liquor license matters in this country.
This place is awful. Tonight Im trying to get alcohol, suddenly my apple doesnt work. I went out to get my bank card. After that Im not allowed to enter because they guard said my friend doesnt have id. Both of my friends is 24 and 30! And Im 27! What happened to that guard? Are they trying to show that they have right to block someone who is eligible to buy some drink? I will spread this review all around facebook and internet! So peoples will stop buying alcohol from liquorland until they fired the two guard. One of them are tall and around 30. Another guard is an elder guy around 40. The cashier that working that night is an asian. Please stop coming to this place! My friends not even in the premise. Im not even buying for them ! Shame on you Liquorland!

Bad experience while purchasing drinks, felt like we were treated as criminals even though we were paying customers. The level of suspicious vibes was insane. Felt like we were used as pawns for some sort of security training excercise. After I had payed , I waited out front for my girlfriend to come out with her drinks after me. The security and one staff member stared at me like hawk's and spoke like I couldn't hear them and like I was a criminal. They were saying you have to look out for people like him, the ones who wait for their friend to come out. Not sure what that means...there must be a common scheme that criminals use. Still doesn't excuse making your customers feel so uncomfortable and criminal like they did.

I don't recommend this place. Security is very rude. They will check your ID before entering and before u pay it to the cashier. They will ask again to show proof of age. I had a very bad experience with the security. An incident happened when I entered the store. The security asked for my ID which I complied but he still wants to take of my mask to show my face.Seriously? I took my ID straight from my wallet to show him. Still he wants to see my face. I am wearing my face mask for a reason to protect myself and this security wants me to take it off . As I was reading with the other reviews, similar feedbacks but no action from the management..disappointing.
Dear Liquorland Manager, I would like to complaint about the treatment that my husband and I received from one security guard from the branch located in Elizabeth Street. I would like to ask you to please look into this. This is the third time that this happened to us and we are starting to believe that this staff member is a racist. The security guard is between 50-60 years ond, white hair and 1.50 metres tall approximately. I will post this complaint in more than one social media channel until something is done and I would like to be contacted from the Branch Manager. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Regards, Nathalia
Got into the store, got my physical ID checked by Miguel. Some Random girl shouted from outside the store to him and he came to me that the girl was my friend !!! I told him that not every Asian looking people are friend and chased me out of the store… better get someone replacing him…. The other two guys were OKAY, but Miguel kept insisting checking my ID showing unsatisfied feeling with my response….. This business will be gone soon if having staff like this… Also, these guys said you have to be 25 years old to buy alcohol there… very interesting!!!!
The security guards are so rude they are even racist I was with some friend who went to the home we say goodbye outside the Liquorland and I was going to another place so I needed some wine and beers and the guards told me that my friends who weren't with my should show their passport what kind of rule is that? I had my passport and I couldn't go. They were so rude and asked me like if I were stupid if I understood what they were saying
I visted the store on the 3/05/2023 Amazing new staff good to see that they are replacing the horrable people who are there ..... girl with frecles (absolutely beautiful) always has a beautiful smile on her face, always polite even to the rudest of customers. Was not keen due to the reviews on comming to this store but since dealing with the girl with freckels I'll deffently be coming back she's very kind and compassionate 10/10
I showed the security guy who wore a hijab my international license, which is legally accepted in every store. Both the security guys told me it can only be used in my own country and said ‘walk away’. They were very rude the entire time so I came to BWS instead. And believe me the hijab guy saw my birth date already but still denied me going in (I’m 32 btw). Discrimination/ unprofessionalism right in the middle of the CBD!!!
Had a really awful experience at this place with staff + security with respect to ID. We are clearly above 25 and had mandated IDs despite which they were rude and stopped at door. Probably the only liquorland where we saw that after purchasing from 15+. Stumbled on other reviews and thought should add this so management does take a look and employ staff that is a bit more customer centric.
It was a good experience at the store. The seller gave me good suggestions and attention to my choice for the wines I wanted to buy. I didn't rate it with 5 stars because once I couldn't enter the store because I was with a friend who wasn't holding an ID but I was going to buy it just for me and the security didn't let me in. The store has good options, including promotions.
The security guards there tonight racially profiled my girlfriend. They refused to let us buy a bottle of wine even though I had ID and were extremely rude. We had not been drinking tonight - Absolutely ridiculous and appalling! There were about 10 Australian who looked young, 18 years old or less and not one of them was asked for ID or harassed.
Absolutely terrible service from this store, my partner was asked for ID (they turn 40 in a few months) the security guard looks about 90 and needs his eyes checked, he also cant stand up straight and needs to support his back. Time to retire. Really terrible service from this store, will never shop here again, will take our business elsewhere.
Security guard is a tool. Middle eastern looking in his 50s. I checked in with my phone. He saw me do it and then asked me to do it again. I told him 'I just did it you saw me do it' he then threatened to bash my teeth in and told me to leave if I didn't. I have been coming here every Friday for 4 months. Took my business to Duncans now.
0/5 Acceptable proof of age under the Liquor Control Reform Act of 1998 includes valid foreign passport. The refusal of my foreign passport was an awful event. (As a result, my friend was also refused) I've read other people's reviews with the same experience and I genuinely hope that the staff can have a proper understanding with it.
the rudest staff I've ever seen, especially security guards. a short security guard looking 40-50 should be fired immediately. I go to this store for work, to make deliveries and every time I am humiliated and I have to cancel the delivery, informing the customer of what happened and recommending him to buy at another store
Rude arrogant at liquor land male and female after spending my money yell me to leave you piece of trash he called me he didn't like it when l said if it wasn't for me and others you wouldn't even have a job well done management l would rather be unemployed than treat people like that should be ashamed coles Myer pry ltd
This is type of place that you wish to never return. Period! A guard that pock up a fight with customer. Unprofessional staff. Where are the true hospitality? The welcome manner and helping customer getting the right product. The only good thing about the place that is only next to Coles. The rest.. Forget about it

@coles, was there just before at 8:35 and security didn't let us in because the only staff walked out right in front of us to do the bins. Security said he will be back at 9pm and we will be closed so cannot serve you. The staff could have served customers first, done bins once closed or hire more staff.
I have previously bought from this shop with no trouble, tonight I walked in at 6pm and was immediately stopped by security, the demanded a passport, A PASSPORT, to let me in because I showed them foreign ID instead of Australian. I’m 26 for god’s sake. Ridiculous, they humiliated me and I left in tears.
The worst experience ever , went yesterday afternoon and there is a queue for the shop and everyone handing out passport to the security even they 18+. Security wouldn’t let me go inside and it happened 2 days . He told me to go Dunkan’s or BWS. So I went to DanMurphy. I won’t go again ever.
I won’t be returning after the way I was treated as a regular customer by security. Go to the bottle shop across the road they’re a lot nicer to you and have more respect for you as a customer. Staff behind the counter aren’t bad. It’s a shame that the security ruins the customer service.
Rude security guards especially the small one.. very suspicious to the customers, they treat you like you are doing something wrong. Not coming back to that shop anymore. They are losing customers because of their security guards and I wonder why the management doesn’t do anything about..
Sunday at 2:45 We were asking for a nice gift dessert wine and the guy gave us $6 red wines lol Then we ask for nice gift bags and he gave us one of these 10 cents bags we didn’t notice until we paid and leaving but like the guy was just rushing to go stand do nothing at register
Very rude security guard, originally from the UK and refused to accept drivers licence, didn’t even look at it and refused us entry. Unlikely someone living in Melbourne will carry their passport around with them. Very rude in the way he explained this policy.
This place did not deserve a single star. How can you run a business with a rude and arrogant security. Smuff face staff laughing at us as we want to enter the shop. Poor standard service. There a lot of great liqour store out there. This place is outlaw.
Couldn't get in even if I wanted to because a 'frequent shopper' had laid the entire shop to siege with his trolley, mobile phone, and speaker system. When your business makes the neighbourhood so bad you can't do business, maybe don't do that business.
Lovely staff. The little security guard is the kindest man, always greets you and helps as much as he can. I have more than once seen him helping the elderly pack bags or pick things up off the shelf! I love going here and wouldn’t ever shop elsewhere!
I feel sorry for the Security guards working here Elizabeth street is dangerous and the Security guards from MA Security are getting paid $23.89 an hour I wouldn’t do security there for $40 an hour they are taking advantage of the Security guards.
THINK TWICE before enter. RUDE staff demanded for ID or passport rudely. And we are 40+. Don’t understand why the owner will keep such staff. Ended with ‘I just won’t sell to you’ and thus I left with a few customer that failed to get anything.
I got fantastic service!! The staff is very helful Also, the two security guards one tall and one little they both are very nice, always ask for ids in a professional way and always welcome us in a very good way. Cheers we r very happy :) :) :)
I'm over getting ID'd twice without fail. The security guard cards me, I provide identification right while the teller is watching, then the teller asks for ID a second time. Why this happens will forever be beyond me.
Absolute joke! I'm 32 had my driver's licence, and was declined entry because my boyfriend did not have his passport but only had his driver's licence. We are buying alcohol! Absolutely pathetic, treated like criminals
Awful experience with the short security guard. Accused me of stealing and refused to check my bag even though I begged him to as I didn’t do anything wrong. Will never go back, absolutely disgusting service!
Wondering why it’s only Australian ID that accepted in this store? Is it only for Australian that can buy the liquor ? We show already our id to security. But we still now allowed to come in.
I was shopping for alcohol for a party and I was extremely confused. A female worker named Jazzy was more then helpful and suggested the perfect drink for me and my mates.
Bad Security Guard, very aggressive and racist. Please consider getting a professional security guard. Very disappointing experience. Happened many times not just once.
You think the security guard is a gronk, then you have the displeasure of having to be served by one of the "staff" that work here. Go to the bottleo over the road.
Terrible, asked to show id upon entering. Fine, which by the way if 0.5 meters from the checkout. Then the checkout asked for id again?? Also too small and cramped
Well. What to say. There a very thing you need here. I mean this is one of the only places you can get alcohols in this country right. So just pop in and enjoy.
Brown tall security guard was extremely helpful and nice. I went in on the 15.02.23 the team was very helpful with the wine I needed. Great customer service!
The security manager is the worst I have never meet. Rude and aggressive. Always you have to carry your passport for entry to this disgusting bottle shop.
Disregard their opening hours. They close when they feel like it. I got there 15 minutes before their advertised closing time and they wouldn’t let me in.
Little security guard is quite rude, trying to run the door like it’s a nightclub. I get he has a job to do but he could lose the attitude. Don’t bother
Literally the worst liquor store in Australia. Rude staff and aggressive security. Avoid at all costs - hit up BWS around the corner...
Extremely rude staff on Sunday afternoon. I was ganged up on and treated with suspicion even though I had valid ID.
Security extremely rude. Didn't end up going through the door and never will now. You guys must lose so many sales
Worst place to go, security guard is a a-hole I’m of age and wasn’t allowed in! If I could review 0 stars I would
Constantly out of stock on special items , store is too small and should be improved immediately , staff friendly
It wasn't busy, and quich service. There were wines on special at the entrance which made me decide quickly.
rude and racist security guards in terms of ID :) never come back to this place again. what a shame!!!
Awful experience. Very rude security guard asking for IDs. Better go to BWS around the corner instead.
Very rude secuity guard, do not buy anything from this store or be ready to bear the consequences.
the staff are very discriminating and that's frustrating. never to return on that store again!
Overpriced and hostile towards tourists. Gathering spot for homeless people. Bad experience.
Always closes early and security are aggressive bullys. Terrible service for a major chain.
yesterday saturday the security men trusted very groceries and racist i will denounce them
Security is a joke here and will try to find out ways to deny you entry.. happened twice
Very friendly staff. and easy to locate opposite McDonald's on Elizabeth Street. …
Awesome Service, very nice security guards and staff members, they are always helpful.
Not gonna lie, I literally came here to see if the reviews were as bad as they said.
Awful experience. Rude staff and very expensive bottle. Don’t spend your money there.
Come on security boys ! Very expensive prices, don’t spend your money there please
Rude security, heaps of other liquor places around, go to other places instead.
Poor service all round. Security and night staff need to pick up there game.
The selection was great for the size of the place. Staff were super helpful
Lovely friendly staff, very knowledgeable and give great customer service!
Rejected my British driving license as ID and security were very rude
Great place if you want to feel like a criminal looking around…
Best place to get every kind&taste of liquor in cheap prices.
Ok for a bottle or a six pack if you're in the hotel district
International ID is not accepted Security were very rude
Asked me for ID. I'm 38! Sorry I didn't have my passport
Unbelievably rude and unprofessional security guards.
The security guard takes his job way too seriously!
thank you to the staff for your wonderful service!!
Not allowed to entry with a international ID ??!!
Friendly staff and decent options to choose from.
Bad attitude from security guard . Really rude.
