A delightful surprise! The food, the service and the exterior all felt like I've stepped into a traditional local restaraunt in Jiangnan, it's one of the most unique and tastiest Chinese meals I've had in Melbourne in a long time. Reading the other comments I was a little worried, but the 2 waiters that served us were so friendly, warm and informative about all the perfectly executed authentic dishes. Typical northern China style of down to earth, matelike and friendly kind of hospitality service. Some of the dishes were on the pricier side, but given how the dishes were so unique, authentic, high quality, well executed and presented, hard to find at other Chinese restaurants and just so incredibly delicious (I'm still reminiscing that stinky tofu and the dish in the photos 2 days later) it's worth the price tag. I would have normally taken more photos but my whole family was too caught up enjoying everything. Can't wait to bring more friends and family back! (The white things in the photo is a type of handmade flat noodle, it was perfect with the stew chicken, a definate reorder for me next time!)

I think this is not a Shanghaibess restaurant only as it has a variety of dishes from all parts of China. The Diguo chicken is a must have. The stinky tofu was homemade and was very very good. The pwner was very friendly and has got a tertiary degree in cooking from China. He has a wealth of knowledge of chinese food culture if you are interested talk to him, He will tell you the origins of the food you are having. Parking was pretty good it's just out the front. No Sunday surcharge Which Is a bonus. Will revisit.

I had dinner here several times since it opened, and it got worse and worse each time~ The first time I visited, I think they deserved 4.5 points, then I came again, still okay 4 points. Third time, continue to decline. Most recent visit was a week ago, and after this visit, I decided not to come anymore. The dished was served slow and carried to the wrong table. No water served even asked several times. Most importantly, the food quality has dropped seriously - not tasty at all. Don’t know what happens, but pretty shocked at the speed of its declination.
ordered the beef w cumin and spices, beef was tender and flavoursome. the tastes of the spices complimented the beef without overpowering. it shows as 2 chillies for the degree of spiciness but was not as apicy aa i thought it will be. Also ordered the fried tofu which was recommended by the waitress and i loved it. the salt and spicy and crispy tofu skin burst w the juice from the moist centre. Outdoor seatings look really nice for group gathering. Was a pleasant surprise to have discovered this restaurant. it is quite hidden behind the straw fences.
As other reviewers pointed out the service isn't up to scratch. Waitress missing things, dropping things, not attentive. Food wise it's suppose to be Southern Chinese food, but it's not authentic as it claims. Pork belly with pickled vegie came out cold and they just microwaved it instead of making a new serving. Beef sticky rice dimsum had no taste and the pastry was not cooked. We we're recommended sausage bacon rice, it was just take out Chinese sausage served with few slices of salted pork. The food is very much below average.
I think when you are selling these promotions coupons you are expecting people to come back, but I don't think anyone will come back with the groomy and very rundown decoration, extremely slow food serve, only one waitress for the whole place doing everything by herself. Food quality and taste is below average. Don't forget to bring your own handwash as there isn't any if you need to use the restroom...
Popped in here for takeaway. Chefs special beef and rice delicious. Restaurant itself as presentation ok and service ok except not English. $28 and $37 a meal seemed pricey

A restaurant that goes out of their way to give you a bad experience. The one waitress there was on her phone the whole time and I had to go up to her to order, also they have no menus in English. The food was very below average. As I was leaving they also charge me extra to use my debit card instead of paying cash. Amazing.
The flavors of dish and the value were OK. But some hot food was premade and microwaved to bring up. The cold dish was not really cold, the taste was not fresh as well. And their toilet really need a renovation. You can find much more better restaurants in the area.

The place has a smell of toilet... the cleaning and the ventilation are bad. The service is good, but the cups and bowls are not clean. I bet they don't wash them in a dishwasher.

the decor is like grandma’s house I like all the dishes that we order, came out fast. The restaurant was quite empty on a weekday but the food didn’t disappoint at all.

Omg this is the dirtiest Chinese restaurant in Boxhill. The smell was so bad since you enter the restaurant like a dying guy’s home and the toilet was unbearable. So dirty. There is only one table of costumers but why nobody cleans the toilet. Worst experience.
This is my absolute favourite Chinese restaurant in Melbourne! The dishes are very unique and nothing like your regular Chinese restaurant. Have to make a visit if you are after some authentic Chinese food!

It is a busy restaurant, taste is not too bad. My daughter found a gold hair from the dishes. We told boss, he didn’t response us and left. Not recommended for everyone!

We tried the salty duck which tasted questionable. The cold veggie dish and the duck blood and tofu Stew were okay. Definitely not a place I wanna visit again.

Good food and quite authentic with reasonable price. Can improve by adding pictures or english on the menu. Room can also have better condition by adding extra aircon or fan. All in all it was a great dinner!
Have been to this restaurant twice, both times the food was excellent. Spicy and fresh Yun Nan style cuisine. Friendly and helpful staff, and a homestyle atmosphere. Would highly recommend this place.

Sensational food. I was unsure what to expect for to the look of the premises from outside but was pleasantly surprised and delighted with the range and quality of the dishes
the food is good, but the toilet is extremely dirty. I could even smell it from the table far away of the toilet.

Decent Chinese restaurant. Menu is a little pricy for what you're ordering but the food is quite delicious and the service is great (so long as you can speak Chinese).
Tried to order take away food over the phone. I was asked to speak in chinese, I don't speak chinese so I could not order. Very disappointing to say the least.
Not recommended if you are after authentic Chinese JiangNan style dishes

Funny restaurant charged more than delivery app to phone pick-up order...everything is same. It doesn't make sense
Surprisingly good food Really nice restaurant owner Also a really beautiful tree out front
The taste was good. But really really very very slow. Went there few times, always slow.
Average food. Black pepper beef cubes is tough, hard to chew. Not worth the price.
THE Worst Chinese restaurant in Melbourne. Avoid!
